Alicia 'Alice' M. Pinkerton, 62, of Colona, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at her son's home in New Windsor.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, following the service. Visitation is 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born March 12, 1941, in Atchison, Kan., to Anthony and Efilia Molinar Hernandez. She married
Gayle Pinkerton March 19, 1963, in East Moline.
She was employed as a cook at Aspenwood Health Care in Silvis for many years.
She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Colona. She enjoyed babysitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Gayle Pinkerton, New Windsor; children and spouses, Duane and Terri Pinkerton, Temecula, Calif., Douglas and Theresa Pinkerton, New Windsor, and Teresa and Joel Miller, Geneseo; nine grandchildren, Cadee, Reshea, Shayne, Alixandra, Aaron, Matthew, Michael, Mitchell, and Jessica; sister, Angela Raychel, Buckeye, Ariz.; brothers, Anthony and Steven Hernandez, both of Moline, and Martin Hernandez, Colona. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Cleo Bellman and Patricia Hernandez.
Ethel White
Services for Ethel G. White, 86, of Aledo will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of the Nazarene, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo cemetery . Visitation is noon to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home or Church of the Nazarene. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.
Ethel died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Mercer County Nursing Home.
Ethel was born Jan. 28, 1917, near New Boston, to Amos G. and Anna Thoburn Hodgson. She married
John C. White Oct. 2, 1937, in Davenport. He preceded her in death March 10, 1977.
Ethel was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene, including the Sunshine Mission Circle and Sunday school teacher. She was a lifelong learner who enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Ethel is survived by her three children and their spouses, Eleanor White and Derek Thomsett, Oregon, Wis., John F. and Siriporn White, Copperas Cove, Texas, and Mary Louise and David Abbey, Roseville, Minn.; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Grace E. Murdock, Springfield, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son in infancy, Robert Bruce White; and three brothers, Walter, Raymond 'Pete' and Omer Hodgson.
Mary Brauer
Mary Brauer, 80, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Riverview Manor, Pleasant Valley.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic, Davenport. Burial is at Rose Hill cemetery , Buffalo. Visitation is 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf.
She was born Feb. 3, 1923, to John and Ida Smith. She married
Sylvan Brauer. He died in 1988.
Survivors are sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Therese Bauer, Bettendorf, Mike Brauer, Davenport; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister-in-law, Nancy Smith, St. Louis, Mo.
Carol Funk
Carol Nadine Funk, 64, Davenport, died Nov. 30, 2003, at home.
Services are 10 a.m. today at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park Cemtery. Visitation is one hour prior to services.
She was born April 8, 1939, in Davenport, to Elmer and Mildred Hebeler. She was married
to James Martin from 1959 to 1977. They divorced. She married
John Funk in 1979.
Survivors are her husband; sons, Alan and Bruce, both of Davenport and Corey Martin, Linn Creek, Mo.; eight grandchildren; sisters, Sally Freshwater, Bettendorf, and Donna Ragan, Davenport.
Christina Morlan
Services for Christina Ann Morlan, 3-month-old daughter of Davie and Amanda Villarreal Morlan, Davenport, are noon Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport. Burial is in Fairmount cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 10 a.m. to services. Memorials go to West End Alano Club.
She died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Genesis West. She was born Sept. 3, 2003, in Davenport.

He was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Spearsville, La., to Allen and Emma Rhodes. He married
Mary Ann Otto July 20, 1960, in Reno, Nevada.
Survivors include his wife; children, Ilene Altman, Rock Island, Lori Rasmussen, Davenport, Ronald, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.

Melvin D. Schnoor April 3, 1943.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Tom Leetz, Geneseo; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Sharon Schnoor, Davenport; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Sylvia Yarsky
Sylvia Yarsky, 79, of Wheatland, Iowa, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Wheatland Manor.
Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wheatland. Burial is in Pine Hill cemetery , Wheatland. There is no visitation. Weerts is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Kempston Bedford, England, to James and Ivy Swales Burraway. She married
Francis Yarsky in 1945. He died in 1985.
Survivors are her brother, Harry Burraway, Bedford, England; and neighbor and guardian, John Marr, Wheatland.
Clara Ahrens
Clara E. Ahrens, 86, of Rock Island died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, or Mississippi Valley Alzheimer's Association.
Mrs. Ahrens was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Martha Zielske Strauss. She married
Donald C. Ahrens March 15, 1937, in Moline. He died March 1, 1997.
Along with being a homemaker, Clara loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her joy for children carried beyond her family by providing care for many other children. She had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years.
Clara is survived by sons and their spouses, Gary and Lesa Ahrens, Rock Island, and Larry and Stacey Ahrens, Kernersville, N.C.; grandsons, Adam, Jay and Steven Ahrens; and several nieces and nephews. She was in death preceded by two sisters and four brothers.
Ryan Kaatz
Ryan William Kaatz, 20, of Woodridge, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at home.
The body has been cremated, and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Ryan was born Nov. 27, 1983, in Oak Park, Ill., the son of Kevin and Jane Appier Kaatz. He graduated from Downers Grove South High School and was a student at Judson College, Elgin, Ill. He was a member of Willowcreek Community Church, Barrington, Ill.
Survivors are his parents, Kevin and Jane Kaatz, Woodridge; grandparents, William and Jean Appier, Rock Island; stepgrandparent, Richard Prince, St. Charles, Ill.; uncles and aunts, Bradley Appier, Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill., Mike Kaatz, Paula Sund and Penny Childs, all of St. Charles; and eight cousins.
Bernice Nelson
Bernice G. 'Bernie' Tucker Nelson, Racine, Wis., formerly of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Racine.
Services were held Friday, and she was entombed at Graceland cemetery , Racine.
Memorials to St. James Lutheran Church, 3145 31st Ave., Rock Island, have been suggested. Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, Racine, was in charge of arrangements.
She was born in New London, Mo., the daughter of the late Clarence and Eva Mae Hill Hobbie.
Bernie was employed as a typesetter for The Rock Island Argus for 22 years and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
She was married
to Ronald Tucker, who preceded her in death in 1986. On April 25, 1989, in Davenport, she was united in marriage to Alvin R. 'Al' Nelson of Racine.
Survivors include her husband, Al, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Equilla Jones Wallace, 90, of Rock Island died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Visitation is noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.
James Copley
James L. Copley, 73, of Moline died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thurday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is in charge of arrangements.
Peter Denger
Peter V. Denger, 87, of Rosewood Care Center, Moline, formerly of Rock Island, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at the center.
At Mr. Denger's request, his body has been cremated, and there will be no services or visitation. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert Dorman
Robert L. Dorman, 88, of Moline died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Arrowhead Ranch.
Mr. Dorman was born July 28, 1915, in Canton, Ill., the son of Earl and Emma Sandberg Dorman. He married
G. Maxine Soderberg Dec. 24, 1936, in Moline. She died March 11, 1943. He married
Katherine N. De Backer March 17, 1945, in Moline. She preceded him in death July 12, 1991.
Mr. Dorman was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal as supervisor of production planning and the production-engineering division for 36 years, retiring in July 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, carpentry, fishing and his family. He was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, Doric Lodge 319, and Eagles Lodge, Moline.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Graves, East Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Bonnie Dorman, Apple River, Ill.; and grandchildren, Richard, Susan, Kathryn and Robert. He was preceded by a son, Jeffrey, in 1980.
Atona Flores
Atona Flores, 22, formerly of Moline, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, as the result of a car-deer accident near Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Mary J. Letterman, 98, formerly of Moline, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at River Park Healthcare Center, Rock Island.
