Ina `Nana' Ramsey
Ina 'Nana' Ramsey, 71, of Milan, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, 7th Street Campus, Moline, after an eight-month battle with cancer.

Her body was cremated. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. The Rev. David Overstreet will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family at 827 W. 10th St., Milan, IL 61264. Arrangements are by Family Funeral Services, Milan.

She was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Metropolis, Ill., daughter of Ferris and Lena Mescher James. She married Billy Joe Ramsey Dec. 7, 1949, in Metropolis.

She was a housewife and employed as a meat cutter at the former Vogt Meat Market in Milan.

She lived for her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved the riverboats. She was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and loved baseball.

Surviving are her husband, Bill, Milan; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Terry Patrick, Milan; sons, David Joe Ramsey, Rock Island, and Randy A. Ramsey, Milan; grandchildren, Shane and his wife Chris, Corey, Cara, Derrick, David and Terry; great-grandchildren, Seth, Kyle, Tayler, Gabby, Nathen, Justin, Matt and Justice; sisters, Donna M. Leffler and Wanda Carnes, both of Milan, and Doris Lucus, Winter Haven, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Jean Bahen
Services for Jean Bahen, 55, of Taylor Ridge, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Andalusia. Burial is in Calvary cemetery , Rock Island.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, where a Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Believers Together Center, Moline.

Mrs. Bahen died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

The former Jean Arnold was born May 10, 1948, in Dexter, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Lois Ticknor Arnold. She married James R. Bahen July 11, 1970, in Rock Island.

Jean worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 30 years and was a production manager. She was recognized for her work during Operation Desert Storm by the Armament, Munitions and Chemical Command.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Andalusia, where she served as a eucharistic minister. Jean was an active member of the Northwest Area T.E.C. and Northwest Area Cursillo. The Peoria Diocese presented her with the Pere Marquette Award in 2000 for her dedicated service to the diocese. Jean enjoyed gardening and reading. She especially loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, James; daughter, Denise Bahen, San Diego, Calif.; sons and daughter-in-law, Sean and Lori Bahen, Reynolds, Daniel and Patrick Bahen, Taylor Ridge; grandchildren, Jordan and Breanna Bahen, Reynolds; her mother, Lois Arnold, and brother, Roger Arnold, both of Kissimmee, Fla. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher, and her father.

William Blickem
William Blickem, 56, of Wataga, Ill., died Feb. 6, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.

Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West, Galesburg. Burial is in Knoxville cemetery . Visitation is 6:30 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials to Galesburg Rescue Mission or I-74 Youth Sports Complex.

He was a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 25, Rock Island.

Survivors are his parents, V. Joe and Wanda Brown Blickem, Knoxville; and siblings, V. Joe Jr. and Linda Feely, both of Wataga, Norman, Knoxville, and Mary Higgins, Galesburg.

Sharon Causey
Sharon Causey, 61, of Peoria, Ill., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Sheridan Road Apostolic Christian, Peoria. Burial is in Apostolic Christian cemetery , Edwards, Ill. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle, Peoria, and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

She was born May 16, 1942, to Clarence and Emma Endress Herman. She married Rod Causey Sept. 30, 1973, in Peoria.

Survivors are her sons, Michael and Mark, both of Peoria; father, Clarence Herman, Peoria; brothers, Louis, Rockford, Ill., Ernie, Denton, Texas; sisters, Janice Beer, Goodfield, Ill., Becky Bloom, Coal Valley, Marie Donaldson, Geneseo, Barb Kaiser and Esther Stephens, both of Morton, Ill.; 13 nephews; six nieces; and 18 great-nieces and -nephews.

Cleone Downing
Cleone G. Downing, 92, a resident of Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, formerly of Cambridge and Mesa, Ariz., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the nursing home.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo.

Lois Norman
Lois M. Norman, 78, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the home.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison, where further arrangements are pending.

Gary Olson
Services for Gary L. Olson, 44, of Saint Cloud, Fla., will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo cemetery .

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Gary Olson Memorial Fund.

Gary died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at his home in Saint Cloud.

Gary was born April 5, 1959, in Muscatine, to Gerald Lane Olson and Patricia A. Olson Gibson. He was a veteran of the Air Force.

Gary was currently employed with Universal Studios, Orlando, Fla. He was a history buff of the early West, Civil War era and native American culture. He enjoyed restoring old wagons and exhibiting them.

Survivors (and spouses) are his sons, Aaron (Denise) Olson, Oveido, Fla., and Andrew Olson, Keithsburg; granddaughter, Charity Olson, Oveido; parents, Patricia and William Gibson, Aledo, and Gerald and Merlene 'Cookie' Olson, Joy; brothers, David (Terri) Gibson, Keithsburg, Jerry (Chris) Olson Jr., Joy, and Raymond (Barb) Olson, Aledo; and sisters, Brenda (Randy) Frieden, Aledo, Danita (Matt) Lafever, Joy, and LouAnn (Randy) Palmer, Eliza. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Mary Jane McIntyre and Carl and Ola Mae Olson.

Katherine Porter
Katherine A. Porter, 52, of Port Byron, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, where she was a member. Burial is in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline. Private visitation is today at DeRoo. Memorials may be made to the church or Pathway Hospice.

The former Katherine A. Bauer was born Aug. 7, 1951, in Sioux Falls, S.D., daughter of Colman and Joyce Jorgensen Bauer. Katherine Bauer Ballard married Richard J. Porter April 7, 2001, in Moline.

Katherine was employed for 14 years as a surgical technician by Dr. Kent Duyvejonck, Moline. She also had been employed by River Valley Oral Surgeons, Moline.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; mother, Joyce Bauer, Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric Ballard, Normal, Ill., Michael and Sarah Ballard, Coal Valley, and Jeff and Naomi Ballard, East Moline; stepdaughters, Nikki Porter, East Moline, and Sarah Porter, Champaign, Ill.; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Amy Porter, Davenport, Eric and Jenny Porter, Silvis, and Jason Porter, East Moline; three grandchildren; sister, Stephanie Palmer, Appleton, Wis.; and brother, Greg Bauer, Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Colman Bauer.

A sincere thanks to special friends Mike and Maryann Ferretti, Sarah Bradshaw, Jackie Day and Dede Graham.

Richard Colson
Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Joseph Colson, 77, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, with graveside military rites conducted by American Legion Post 26.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where a prayer service will be offered at 7 p.m. Memorials can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society or the Scott County Humane Society.

Dick died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, following a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Davenport, son of Bruce and Pearl Dean Colson. He was united in marriage to Audrey Jean Echols June 14, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport.

Dick entered the Navy and served our country from 1945 to 1947. He graduated from the former Davenport High School in 1947. He earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1952 from St. Ambrose College, where he was both a player and coach on the wrestling team and a member of the 1949 and 1950 champion football teams. He received his master's from Kirksville Teachers College, Kirksville, Mo., in 1964.

He began his 37-year career in education by teaching at Bettendorf High School from 1952 until 1958 and Dubuque Senior High School from 1958 until 1960. Mr. Colson, or 'Coach, ' then joined the Davenport Public School System, teaching and coaching at West High School from 1960 until his retirement in 1989, after 29 years of service. He was both a teacher, teaching history and sociology, and coach at West High School, where he coached and officiated wrestling, football and golf. He also had the honor of officiating for more than 10 years for the Iowa State Wrestling Tournament, Des Moines. Dick was proud to have been inducted into the Iowa State High School Wrestling Coaches and Officials Hall of Fame.

His memberships include the Davenport Retired Teachers Association and Honorary Teaching Fraternity Phi Delta Kappa. He enjoyed golfing and had two hole-in-ones to his credit, and enjoyed playing pool and spending time outdoors, especially fishing.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of more than 51 years, Audrey; daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Manuel Camarena, Bettendorf, Susie and Todd Zimanek, Sherrard; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Deb Colson, Boise, Idaho, and Rob and Kim Colson, Sherrard; 10 grandchildren, Brandon Franklin, Rick, Dan, Tony and Tim Camarena, Jodi and William Colson, Kyle and Taylor Colson and Jacob Zimanek; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Franklin; a brother, Cyril Parker; sister-in-law, Janet Echols-Gomez; and a brother-in-law, Robert Echols. His parents and a brother, Bob Colson, preceded him in death.

Linda Concannon
Linda Lou Concannon, 53, of Davenport, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

William Fick
Services for William Fick, 47, of Davenport and Jacksonville, Fla., are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

He died Feb. 5, 2004, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Jacksonville.

Survivors are his wife, Judy; daughters, Jamie and Becky, both of Davenport; mother, Gladys Fick, Davenport; six sisters, including Lynn Dau, Michelle Schroeder, both of Davenport, Jennifer Kipp, East Moline; 21 nieces and nephews; nine great-nieces and -nephews.

Rose Flaherty
Rose Flaherty, 76, of Bettendorf, died Feb. 8, 2004, at home.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic, Bettendorf. Burial is in Mount Calvary cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with a 5 p.m. rosary.

She was born Aug. 15, 1927, to Arcangelo and Theresa Rose Stompanato Crisci. She married Richard Flaherty June 16, 1948.

Survivors are her husband; daughter, Donna Flaherty-Spaude, Bettendorf; sister, Mary Cooksey, Davenport; two brothers, including Joe Crisci, Davenport.

Steven Lange
Steven Lange, 58, of Davenport, died Feb. 7, 2004, at Genesis West, Davenport.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Runge, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today.

He was born July 29, 1945.

He was employed in the packaging department of the Handicapped Development Center for 35 years. Steven's most enduring quality was his courteous, friendly and humorous good nature. Steven will be long remembered and missed by his many friends and co-workers.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur R. Lange and Mary L. Ade Lange.

Vivian McDonnell
Vivian McDonnell, 100, of Davenport, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Kahl Home for the Aged, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Alvin Oetzmann
Alvin Oetzmann, 88, of Davenport, died Feb. 9, 2004, at his home.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Weerts, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials go to Faith Lutheran, Eldridge, or Genesis Hospice Care of VNA.

He was born in 1915 to Emil and Reada Wiese Oetzmann. He married Joyce Benning in 1940. She died in 1999.

Survivors are children, Cynthia Ruwe, Walcott, and Kenneth, Davenport; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and brother, Roland, Eldridge.

Mrs. Edward Weerts
Mrs. Edward R. Weerts, 97, of Bettendorf, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Larry Zumwalt
Larry Zumwalt, 59, of Bettendorf, died Feb. 8, 2004, at Genesis West, Davenport.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born May 28, 1944, in Columbia, Mo., to Herman and Ruth Perkins Zumwalt.

Survivors are daughters, Sue Meyer, Minneapolis, Minn., Christina Hancock, Bettendorf, and Katie Ziegler, Davenport; five grandchildren; mother, Ruth Brockman, Columbia; and siblings, Rita Hayes, Joplin, Mo., and Charlie, Davenport.
