Judith Windham
Judith D. Windham, 41, of Bettendorf, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at her home.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial is in St. Hedwig's cemetery , Southbridge, Mass. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at Weerts, Davenport.
She was born April 24, 1962, in Southbridge, to Krystian and Shirley Collette Uwazany. She married
James 'Jeff' Windham Dec. 1, 1990, in Davenport.
Survivors are her husband; brothers, John and Christopher Uwazany, parents, and a niece, Sarah Uwazany, all of Southbridge.
Margaret Fraser
Private services for Margaret Fraser, 93, a resident of Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, will be Thursday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Hollywood Hills, Calif. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Fraser died Monday, March 29, 2004, at the center.
The former Margaret Lawson was born Sept. 16, 1910, in Rock Island, the daughter of John and Minnie Brown Lawson. She married
Leo H. Fraser July 5, 1936, in Galesburg. He died May 18, 1975.
Mrs. Fraser returned to the Quad-Cities from California in 1989 and had been a resident of Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Bjorn, Moline; nieces, Christine Bjorn, Moline, Sarah Bjorn, Rock Island, Nancy Harrington, Norwood, Mass., and Marilyn Donlan, Wellesley, Mass.; several great-nieces and -nephews; and dear friends, Bruce and Bette Brightman, Long Beach, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lt. John Robert Fraser, U.S. Navy, who died in 1964; a sister, Sarah Flynn; and a brother, John Lawson.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Heartland Health Care Center for the exceptional care given to their loved one.
Tilda `Bea' Lewis
Tilda M. 'Bea' Lewis, 64, of Moline, formerly of East Moline, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at her home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Township cemetery . Visitation is one hour prior to service time.
The former Tilda Bates was born May 23, 1939, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of Augusta and Nettie Bailey Bates. She married
Edward Lewis Jan. 21, 1961, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1995.
She enjoyed fishing, bingo, gardening and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Edward Lewis, Rock Island, Darrell Edmond Lewis, Minnesota, Christopher Lewis, Moline, Charles Lewis and Terry Lewis, both of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters, Benita Kay Lewis, Rock Island, Doris McLaughlin and Darlene Goings, both of East Moline; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sister, Ollie Mae Berry, Rock Island; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ethel Pendelton
Ethel L. Pendelton, 50, of Rock Island died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, Seventh Street Campus, Moline.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island.
Further arrangements are pending at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island.
Helen Ries
Helen M. Ries, 94, of Milan died Monday, March 29, 2004, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Milan.
Helen was born Sept. 5, 1909, in Collinsville, Ill. to Parker and Nellie Ward Gale. She married
Donald Tobey on Oct. 28, 1930. He preceded her in death in 1958. Helen married
Louis Ries on Oct. 28, 1961. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Helen worked 35 years at Servus Rubber Company, retiring in 1961.
She belonged to First Presbyterian Church of Milan, the Cover Girls and Ruth and Naomi Circle.
Survivors include a son and spouse, Robert and Carol Tobey, Milan; stepson and spouse, Robert and Mary Lou Ries, Milan; grandchildren, Steven and Jeanne Tobey, James Ries, Johanna Anderson, and Susan Propst; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; brother, Ward Gale; and an infant son.
Dora Ruxton
Dora E. Ruxton, 100, of Geneseo died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wright Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. The Rev. David Esche will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery , Geneseo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Geneseo.
Dora Hutchinson was born Nov. 13, 1903, in Munson Township, Henry County, Ill., the daughter of Sam C. and Dora L. Gradert Hutchinson. She married
John L. Dilenbeck in 1922. He died in 1941. She married
Willard Ruxton in 1945. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Ruxton was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed quilting and playing cards with friends.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Gloria Jean Dilenbeck, Geneseo; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Marvin Swiger, Geneseo; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a grandson, a great-grandson, and several brothers and a sister.
Toshiko Wulf
Toshiko F. Wulf, 67, of Morrison died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Morrison Christian Church, where she was a member. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Memorials may be made to the church.
She was born July 11, 1936, in Naze, Japan. She married
William L. Wulf April 11, 1958, in Okinawa.
She was employed by Climco in Morrison for 20 years.
Survivors (and spouses) include her husband; daughter, Sandra (Allen) Parker, Houston, Texas; son, William (Vanese) Wulf, Centreville, Va.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three half-brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Vernon Dengler Sr.
Services for Vernon L. Dengler Sr., 65, Davenport, are Friday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport. The time will be published in Thursday's paper. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Dengler died March 29, 2004, at Genesis East, Davenport.
He was born June 24, 1938, in Davenport, son of Louie and Adeline Dengler. He married
Jean Jurgens June 19, 1965.
Surviving are his wife; children, Christine Dengler, Patrick, Robert, and Vernon Jr. all of Davenport; a granddaughter, Jessica Cross; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Bonnie Dengler, Port Byron.
Leonard Finger
Leonard S. Finger, 80, of Davenport died Tuesday, March 30, 2004.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Runge, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery with military honors. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. today.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1923, in Davenport, the son of Raymond and Verla DuVall Finger. He married
Betty J. Skaredik in June 1948 in Davenport.
He served in the South Pacific in the Navy during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Finger was an insurance adjustor.
He was a member of Blue Grass American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Carolyn Nelson, Davenport; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Finger, Dallas Center, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Winston.
Viola Nagel
Viola Devine Nagel, 82, Davenport, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Davenport Lutheran Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial is in Fairmount cemetery . Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Runge, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the church.
Surviving are her husband, Leon; daughters, Cynthia Nagel, Prince Rupert B.C., Carol Bishop, Tampa, Fla., Vicki Atzen, Davenport, Lorrie Williams, Mt. Gilead, Ohio; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Janet Kuttler, Verna Hamann, both of Davenport.
Bonnie Posten
Services for Bonnie Posten, 69, Davenport, are 1 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries with visitation one hour prior. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.
She died March 28, 2004, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.
She married
Richard Symmonds in 1951. She later married
Jim Posten in 1978.
Survivors are her husband; daughters, Penny Symmonds, Debra Zummwalt, both of Muscatine, Kimberly Posten, Davenport; sons, Richard Symmonds, Louisa County, Iowa, Jimmy Posten, Davenport; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister.

Sandra J. Scott, 61, of Davenport, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at her home.

Services for Margaret Vargas, 83, Hoffman Estates, Ill., formerly Davenport, are 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.
Visitation is 3-6 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with a 3 p.m. rosary.
She died March 28, 2004, at Rosewood Nursing Home, Inverness, Ill.
Surviving are her four children including, Elaine Coffey, Davenport; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Luz Garcia, Davenport, Pas Martinez, Buffalo, Iowa; brothers, Salvador Sr. and Adolph Lopez, both Davenport.
Roy Colburn
A memorial service for Roy W. Colburn will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island.
Mr. Colburn died Feb. 24, 2004, in Tavernier, Fla. Roy W. Colburn was the son of Mary E. Colburn and the late Oscar L. Colburn. He was born July 7, 1947, in Winfield, Ala. He married
Lynda Regal in 1966. He attended Rock Island High School and graduated in 1965.
He worked for several years at International Harvester plant in Rock Island and later became an electrician. Roy enjoyed boating, gardening and woodworking. He loved the tropical climate of the Florida Keys.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary E. Colburn-Fowler and Calvin D. Fowler, Rock Island; a son and his fiancee, Lawrence D. Colburn and Rebecca Walls Shriesheim, Germany; a daughter and son-in-law, Edith M. and Mark J. Quilty, Rock Island; and three grandchildren, Andy J. Herrick, Elaina L. Quilty and Maria A. Quilty. He was preceded in death by his father and grandson.
ODell Hester
ODell Hester, 70, of Atoka, Tenn., died March 23, 2004, at Cordova Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Atoka.
He was born Sept. 5, 1933, to the late Mr. L.B. Hester. He was united in holy matrimony to Fannie (Blaine) Hester.
Survivors are a daughter, Bessie Marie Hester; five sisters, Anna Marie (Gary) Morris, Atoka, Dorothy (Cleo) Morris, Atoka, Dorothy (Cleo) Grandberry, Issie B. (Sam) Grandberry, Rock Island, Elonora Miller, Chicago, and Hazel Wallace, Macon, Tenn.; a brother, Lynn (Ethel) Hester, Rock Island; an aunt, Willie Ann Bradley, St. Louis, Mo.; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Maureen Perry.

Harold Westpfahl
Harold A. Westpfahl, 76, of Moline, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
There will be no services at this time. The body was cremated. Family Funeral Services, Milan, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Harold A. and Agnus Gieger Westpfahl. He married
Mary Dusenberry in 1953 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death.
He was a forklift driver at the I.H. Farmall plant in Rock Island for 34 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening.
Survivors include daughter and spouse, Nancy and Chuck Chandler, Moline; grandson, Chris Westpfahl, Buffalo, Iowa; great-grandson, Kyle Westpfahl; brothers, Clifford, Twing, Mich., Victor, Roosevelt, Mich., and Sandy, Warren, Mich.; and sister, Alice Ruth, Pontiac, Mich. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
