Juanita M. Campbell, 76, Eldridge, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility, Bettendorf.

Arrangements are pending at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge.

Clyde `Red' Holcomb
Clyde Charles 'Red' Holcomb, 78, of Davenport, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Chippiannock cemetery , Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Red was born March 20, 1926, in Freeburg, Ill., the son of Edgar E. and Olivia M. Gerber Holcomb. He married June Potter Aug. 20, 1949, in Peoria, Ill. She preceded him in death Dec. 27, 1993.

Red was employed at John Deere Plow & Planter works in Moline, retiring in 1983, after 32 years of service. He enjoyed country music, westerns, playing cards and marbles, and loved spending time with his family and his dog, Peanut. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the Navy as a Seaman First Class, and was a life member of VFW Post 2153, Moline.

Survivors (and spouses) include his daughter, Linda (Kenneth, Sr.) Watson, Milan; sons, Richard (Eileen) Holcomb, Silvis, and Brad Holcomb, Davenport; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Corrine Belton and Delores Cunningham, both of Jerseyville, Ill., Clarita Parr, Gurnee, Ill., and Margorie Dickie, Marissa, Ill.; and a brother, Robert Lester Holcomb, Marissa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife June, four brothers and a sister.

Hazel M. Kaffenberger
Hazel M. Kaffenberger, 77, Long Grove, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary and Crematory.

William R. McCoy
William R. 'Bill' McCoy, 74, Davenport, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Kahl Home, Davenport, following an extended illness.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries.

He was born in 1929 to John J. 'Jack' and Elvia Welch McCoy. He married Barbara Hengl in 1951.

Survivors are his wife; sons Mike, Dave, Gary, all Davenport, Randy, Georgia; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenny, Bettendorf; Butch, Florida, Bob, Michigan.

Kael Xavier Reickard
Kael Xavier Reickard, infant son of Chad and Kristin Reickard, Bettendorf, died Oct. 7, 2004, at Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago. He had been ill since shortly after birth.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran, Davenport. Visitation is an hour prior to services at the church.

He was born Aug. 18, 2004, in Davenport.

In addition to his parents, survivors are his sister, Elliana; grandparents, Tim and Linda Reickard, Eldridge, and Clark and Kathryne Wangerin, Brookfield, Wis.; great-grandmother, Maurine Shanks, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Samuel B. Wilkins
Samuel B. Wilkins Sr., 60, Davenport, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at his residence. Further arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Janet Clark
Memorial services for Janet Goodjohn Clark, 84, of Rock Island, will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Private inurnment will be in Chippiannock cemetery , Rock Island. The family will greet friends in the Great Hall of the church an hour prior to the service and again following the service. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Broadway Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Clark died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

The former Janet Goodjohn was born April 19, 1920, in Leavenworth, Kan., a daughter of Harvey Benner and Arlouine Bartlett Goodjohn. She attended Lindenwood College and was a graduate of Kansas State University. She married Dr. Earl H. Clark, Dec. 20, 1947, in Leavenworth.

Janet was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church and a past president of its Women's Association. She was a member and past president of the Tri-City Garden Club, served on the board of Bethany Home, member and past president of the Rock Island Medical Alliance and member of the Tri-City Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club and Crow Valley Golf Club. In addition to her church, she enjoyed her family, friends, golfing and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Earl; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathleen Clark, Pasadena, Calif., Howard and Jane Clark, Moscow, Penn.; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Timothy Patton, Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, John, Mary, Annie, David and Lucy Clark and Simon, Mary, Elizabeth, Andrew and Paul Patton; her sister, Arlouine Wu, Amenia, N.Y.; and a nephew, Bart Wu, New York, N.Y.

Carol Burdick
Carol C. Burdick, 86, of Moline died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with the Rev. A. Parker Lewis III officiating. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ, Moline.

The former Carol Christine Axell was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Moline, the daughter of Carl and Lilly Ern Axell. She married Robert K. Burdick on Dec. 10, 1938, in Davenport. He died Sept. 24, 2001.

She was switchboard operator at Sears in Moline for 18 years, retiring in 1978. She previously worked for Illinois Bell Telephone and Wheelock Drug Store.

She was an active member of Hope United Church of Christ, Moline, where she was a member of the Esther Circle and the Visitation Committee. She had been a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and belonged to the Rippers knitting group. She enjoyed flower arranging, crafts, knitting and word puzzles.

Carol is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Curtis LeGrand, Bettendorf; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Burdick, Moline; four grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Rose Ehrecke, Robin and Erick Trimble, Luanne and Tom Gritton, and Tracy and Greg Reitan; four great-grandchildren, Tucker Gritton, Nicole Guenther, Eli Trimble and Cody Reitan; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gwen Axell, Yakima, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Gary Burdick, her sister, Doris DeMarlie and her parents.

Martha A. Gibson
Martha A. Gibson, 93, Moline, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Sandra White
Sandra J. White, 62, of Silvis, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. today at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, is handling arrangements.

She was born July 29, 1942, in Rock Island, the daughter of Art and Virginia Peebles Junker. Sandy enjoyed her work as a preschool teacher at several area schools. She loved being around children; her own grandchildren, Codey, Jessica, Kendall, and Lauren were the joy of her life. Sandy was a gratified member of Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline. Survivors include her daughter, Tracey White, Moline; sons, Stephen R. White, Park Forest, Ill., and Jeffrey Parrish, Rock Island; four grandchildren; her brother, Glen Junker, Orion; and lifelong friends, Bonnie and Sheila.

Everett L. Jones
Everett L. Jones, 45, of Colona died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis.

Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, where further arrangements are pending.

Robert Carstensen Jr.
Robert H. Carstensen, Jr., 55, of Donahue, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, died Oct. 2, 2004, at Genesis, Davenport.

Services are 4 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries. Visitation is from 2 p.m. until service time. Burial is at National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

He was born Aug. 13, 1949.

Survivors are wife, Christine, Donahue; eight children, including Kimberly Masters, Tracey Gonzales, both Moline, Angela Slocum, Milan, Jason Brewer, Davenport; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Shelly Carstensen, Sandy Stuff, both Rock Island, Mary Harmon, Tigrid, Ore.

Irving S. Hopper
Irving S. Hopper, 87, of Friendship Manor, Rock Island, formerly of Davenport, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Graveside services will be held at noon today at National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Family and friends wishing to attend the services should meet at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, by 11:30 a.m. today for a processional to the cemetery .

Irving was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Paterson, N.J., the son of Irving B. and Bessie Sowerbutt Hopper. He married Jean Kent Warner July 25, 1950, in Davenport. She preceded him in death March 3, 1998.

Irving was the owner and operator of Hopper's Beauty Supply for many years. He was a member of Newcomb Presbyterian Church, Davenport.

Irving was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy as a Seaman 1st Class.

Survivors (and spouses) include his daughter, Mary Hopper (Peter) Welander, and a granddaughter Elizabeth Welander, all of Glen Ellyn.

His parents; wife, Jean; and a sister, Ellen Hopper, preceded him in death.

Mary Hummel
Mary Louise Hummel, 87, New Hampton, Iowa, formerly of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at New Hampton Care Center, New Hampton.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery . Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of choice.

Mary Louise was born on March 4, 1917, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to John E. and Bertha E. Kirkland Baker. She was united in marriage to Lenox Hummel in Missouri on June 7, 1934. He died in October 1989.

Survivors (and spouses) include daughters, Patsy Booth, New Hampton; Carol Ann (Colvin) Binger, Portland, Ore.; Sally (Douglas) Large, Thorold, Ontario, Canada; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Donald.

Delbert E. McKown
Delbert E. McKown, 82, of Lake View, Iowa, formerly of Bettendorf, died Oct. 4, 2004, at the Blackhawk Life Care Center, Lake View.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf. Burial is in Pleasant Valley cemetery . Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

He was born May 14, 1922, in Creighton, Neb. In 1943, he married Gladys M. Krueger. She preceded him in death in 1975.

Survivors are his children, Marcia Hummel, Mardelle Wulf, Marla Kay Vessels, Marv McKown; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lee.

Kael Reickard
Kael Xavier Reickard, 7-week-old son of Chad and Kristin Reickard, Bettendorf, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Burton Taylor
Burton T. Taylor, 74, of Davenport died Oct. 6, 2004, at Manor Care, Davenport.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries and 9:30 a.m. to services Saturday at the church. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery .

Survivors are brothers, Wes, Pleasant Valley, and Rod, Davenport; 13 nieces and nephews, including Ben, LeClaire, Bill, Blue Grass, Ted, Lisa Pearson, Anne Roberts, Sara Bartholomew, all Davenport, Lynn White, Donna Holeman, both Bettendorf. His wife, Mary, preceded him in death.
