Pauline Fuller
Pauline M. Fuller, 74, Lake Marion, Ill., formerly of Kewanee, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, Ill.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial is in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fuller was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Decatur, Ill., to Dewey and Ollie Lavada Martin. She married Jack Fuller June 19, 1948, in Leon, Iowa. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 2003.

Surviving are son, Edward, Lake Marion; daughter, Carol Hultman, Carpentersville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jody Pettitt, Kewanee, Tanya Bihun, Lake Marion, and Michael Bihun, Verona, Wis.; three great-grandchildren, Justin Pettitt, Kewanne, Ashley and Adam Bihun, Wisconsin.

Richard Gross
Richard A. Gross, 61, Kewanee, died Dec. 2, 2004, at his home, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran, Kewanee. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Rux, Kewanee, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee.

Mr. Gross was born Dec. 24, 1942, in Princeton, Ill., to Fred and Cleona Pierson Gross. He married Barbara Johnson June 13, 1964.

Surviving are his wife; mother, Cleona, Princeton; children, Allen, Overland Park, Kan., Robin Stuart, Galesburg; four grandchildren; three brothers.

Mary Ann `Babe' Rielly
Mary Ann 'Babe' Rielly, 74, Geneseo, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at her home.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. Survivors include her husband, John.

Kenneth Shike
Kenneth Lee Shike, 76, of Alexis, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in the emergency room of St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson, where he was a member. The Rev. Kurt Carlsen will officiate. Burial will be in Alexis cemetery . Friends may call after noon Sunday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis, where his family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or United High School FFA Chapter.

He was born Jan. 5, 1928, in Seaton, Ill., the son of Harold and Eva McCaw Shike. He was reared and educated in Seaton and graduated from Seaton High School. Kenneth married Ione Peterson May 29, 1948, in Aledo.

He started farming in the Seaton area until moving to the Alexis area where he farmed in Mercer and Warren counties. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren show cattle. He also enjoyed going to cattle sales.

He was a 4-H leader. He served on the Mercer County Fair Board and as superintendent of beef for many years. He was active in the Mercer County Angus Association and was a member of the Illinois Angus Association and American Angus Association.

Survivors (and spouses) are his wife, Ione; two sons, Daryl Shike and Ron (Sue) Shike, and a daughter, Linda (Richard) McKeown, all of Alexis; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois (Richard) Gladson, Cedar Falls, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a daughter-in-law.

Emma Dusenberry
Emma M. Dusenberry, 89, Davenport, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Bickford Cottage, Clinton.

Services are 2:30 p.m. Monday at Runge, Davenport. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial is in Memorial Park cemetery , Davenport.

Emma was born March 13, 1915, in Morrison, to Herman and Freda Krohn Stralow. She married Lewis Dusenberry Nov. 23, 1958, in Iowa; he died June 1, 1969.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and six sisters.

Helen Fedrick
Services for Helen D. Fedrick, 65, of Davenport, are 1 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport. Burial is in Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 11 a.m. to services.

She died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at her home.

She was born May 12, 1939, in Rock Island, to Charles F. and Dorothy McCorkle Gile Sr.

Surviving are her children, Joanie Negus-Miller, Blue Grass, Dodd Fedrick, Coreene Nance-Herrick, both Davenport; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; six half-sisters; one half-brother; and one stepsister.

James Hulke
James D. Hulke, 82, Davenport, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his residence.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service, Davenport.

Kathleen Schwertman
Kathleen 'Kay' Briggs Schwertman, 78, Bettendorf, died Dec. 2, 2004, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Catholic, Bettendorf. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with prayers at 2 p.m.

Surviving are husband, Jack; 10 children including, Mark Briggs, Bettendorf; 38 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six stepchildren including, Patrice Johnson, Moline, Steve Schwertman, Bettendorf, Jack Schwertman, Jr., Bettendorf; three siblings including, Mary Grimes, Davenport.

Mary Burgess
Mary L. Burgess, 77, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will be conducted at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Ed Kuriscak will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in her name to the Edgewood Baptist Church Building Fund, Rock Island.

Mrs. Burgess was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Newport, Ark., to Thomas and Lula Swindle Stephens. She married Ralph M. Burgess July 4, 1944, in Hickory Grove, Ark. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was playing cards.

Mrs. Burgess worked for the former Nu-Way Corporation for 9 years, and was a housekeeper in the area for 11 years until retiring.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and June Burgess, Rock Island; grandchildren, Brian and Doug; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Samuel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Ken Deaton, Rock Island, Shirley and Gerald King, Conway, Ark.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Eva Stephens, Rock Island, Lehman and Bonnie Stephens, Pleasant Plains, Ark.; sister-in-law- Belle Stephens, Rock Island; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Thelma Bailey and Oneal Deaton; and two brothers, Charles and J.W. Stephens.

Rosemary Cox
Rosemary L. Cox, 79, Rock Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Graveside services will be at a later date. There is no visitation. Sullivan-Phillips, East Moline, is assisting the family.

She was born June 7, 1925, in Rock Island, the daughter of Robert Wilson.

She worked as a stock clerk at Trinity, Rock Island, for 35 years before retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed spending time with her children, was interested in collecting knick-knacks, and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors are daughter, Marlene Vest, Kansas City, Mo.; sons, Jerry Severtsgaard, Rock Island, Mark Severtsgaard, Geneseo, Robert (and spouse Melissa) Severtsgaard, Scott Severtsgaard, both Moline; many grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Ann (and spouse Ernest) Asby, Davenport; brother, David Wilson, Dallas, Texas; and her pet dog, King.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wilson; and a sister, Betty Reed.

Tiray Hickman
Survivors for Tiray Eugene Hickman, 16, of Rock Island, who departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, include his father, Earl Hickman III. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Earl Hickman II.

Services are noon Saturday at Gospel Mission Temple, 5074 North Pine St., Davenport, with Bishop Jimmie Horton officiating. Burial is in Pine Hill cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 11 a.m. to services at the church. Arrangements are by Orr's, Rock Island.

Dorothy Huey
Dorothy Huey, 100, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with the Rev. Joel Bixell, Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is one hour before services. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.

The former Dorothy Hayes was born Feb. 21, 1904, in Moline, the daughter of Frank and Hilda Milton Hayes. She married Wendell Huey June 21, 1930, in Moline. He died Dec. 6, 1983.

Dorothy was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 60 years. She was a 50-year member of Moline Chapter 258, Order of Eastern Star, and a former member of King's Daughters. She loved to read and spend time with her family and friends. She was a homemaker and cared for her mother for many years.

Dorothy is survived by a sister, Helen Wright, Moline; three nieces; and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters, Lillian Hebbeln and Ruth McElwain; and a brother, Carl Hayes.

Carl Rhode
Carl E. Rhode, 82, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at his residence.

Services are 10:30 a.m. today at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, where he was a member. Burial will be at National cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military rites by Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to the church.

Carl was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Metcalf, Ill., the son of Cecil and Flora Loop Rhode. He married Norma 'Jane' Miller March 5, 1948, in Metcalf. She died July 2, 1998.

During World War II, he was in the Navy. He was a ribbon maker at Regalia Manufacturing; prior to this he was with Midwest Carbonic, both of Rock Island. He enjoyed doing word puzzles and reading western novels.

Carl is survived by daughters (and spouses), Carla (Rev. Michael) Smith, Theodore, Ala., Cecilia Charlett, Kathy Sanders and Marcy (Steve) Hansen, all Rock Island, and Donna Rhode, Moline; sons, Donald (spouse Jackie) Rhode, Claremore, Okla., and Jeffrey Rhode, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen McNeese, Metcalf.

Marjorie `Nanny' Shropshire
Marjorie H. Shropshire, better known to many as 'Nanny, ' 85, of Coventry Apartments, Rock Island, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at the Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be in the Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island.

The former Marjorie Hopkins was born June 1, 1919, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Herbert and Lillian Britts Hopkins. She married Roger Shropshire June 1, 1941, in Hannibal, Mo. He died in 1977.

Nanny was employed by the Winstein family of Rock Island for more than 50 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also participated in activities at the Martin Luther King Center, Rock Island. Nanny loved her church and was devoted to the Winstein family.

Survivors include her family, Arthur, Pam and Sam Winstein, Hampton, Stewart Winstein, Rock Island, Max and Cindy Shock, Rock Island, and numerous relatives in Hannibal, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Frederick Hopkins; and dear friend, Dorothy Winstein.

George Hall Jr.
George Hall Jr., 88, Moline, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Arrangements are pending at Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline.

Juan Correa
Juan G. Correa, 74, of Colona, died Dec. 1, 2004, at his home.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, with visitation 4 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.

He was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Tennant, Calif., to Feliciano and Angela Gualajara Correa. He married Herlinda Dominguez Oct. 16, 1957, in Edinburg, Texas.

Juan was a laborer for the Railroad, installed heating and air-conditioning units for ADA and built houses. He loved to fish, do woodwork and carpentry and to read.

Survivors (and spouses) include his loving wife of 47 years, Herlinda; daughters, Sylvia (Gary) Watson, Buffalo, Nora (Philip) Shappard, Winfield, Ill., Maria (Richard) Lohse, Silvis, Rosa (Monte) Spurgeon, Quincy, and Sofia (Mark Kikuts) Saucedo, East Moline; sons, Jorge (Maria) Rodriguez, Moline, Edward (Trisha) Rodriguez, Bettendorf, Juan Jr. (Pat) Correa, Milan, and Victor (Dana) Correa, Sharon, Wis.; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maria, Marta and Maria Elena; brothers, Jose, Jesus and Juvintino.

preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margarita.

Richard Gross
Richard A. Gross, 61, of Kewanee, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at his home.

Services are pending at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee.
