David Winkler Jr.
David Winkler Jr., 78, of Alexis died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Burial with military honors is in Alexis cemetery . Visiation is Friday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, with family present from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alexis-North Henderson Ambulance Service.
He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Woodford County, Ill., son of David and Rosalie Winkler. He married
Virgene Toland Nov. 2, 1952, in Galesburg. She died April 26, 2003.
Survivors (and spouses) are his daughter, Pamela Ann Winkler, Galesburg; brothers, Ralph (Lois) Winkler, Alexis, and Clyde Winkler, Washburn, Ill.; and sister, Irene (Stanley) Horton, Galesburg.
Elsie Crowley
Elsie Ann Crowley, 81, Welton, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Crowley will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Welton, with the Rev. Ed Botkin officiating the Mass. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 5 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception cemetery in Petersville. The family requests that memorials go to St. Anne's Church in Welton or Immaculate Conception cemetery .
Elsie was born Feb. 7, 1923, at home in rural DeWitt, to Clement and Helen Carlin Connole. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in DeWitt. She taught school in a one room schoolhouse in rural DeWitt. She later attended nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Davenport and was employed as a nurse for various doctors and nursing homes throughout her lifetime. She married
Patrick John Crowley on Feb. 20, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt.
Elsie was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm throughout their marriage. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Welton, and an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society for many years.
Mrs. Crowley also will be remembered for being active in politics and ran local caucuses in the area.
She is survived by her five children (and spouses), Mary (Tom) Curnyn, Geneseo, Mike (Jackie) Crowley, Welton, Sheila (Joe) McLaughlin, Geneseo, Kate (Dan) Rosenberg, Fairmont, Minn., and Jackie (Tom) Kenney, Thornton, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Bill, Joe and Dan Curnyn, Sarah, Anne and John Patrick Crowley, Ryan and Colleen McLaughlin, Morgan, John Wolfe and Brooke Rosenberg and Patrick Kenney.
She was preceded in death by husband Patrick on June 11, 2004; brothers, Reynold, John, Raymond Connole; and a sister, Catherine Kross.
Francis Gile Sr.
Francis R. 'Frank' Gile Sr., 70, of Bettendorf died Nov. 28, 2004, at Genesis West, Davenport.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Runge, Davenport. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today.
He married
Lillian Lesson Feb. 7, 1962.
Survivors are his wife; children, Steve, France; Frank Jr., Georgia, Mary Lopez, Texas, Ann Ambrose, South Carolina, Charlene Endershack, Davenport, Jackie Gile, Italy; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers; adopted children, Gordon Woods, Indiana, Steve Hoff and Christine Guinn, both of Iowa.

C. Richard Harrison, 65, of Bettendorf died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Madison, Wis.

Larry Hessen
Larry W. Hessen, 71, Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Seattle, Wash., and Bettendorf, died Nov. 25, 2004, at the Rapha Clinic in Tijuana, Mexico.
Private family services and interment are Friday. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf.
He was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Seattle, to Hjalmer and Pauline LaRue Hessen. He married
Ann Ohanesian Aug. 31, 1955, in Rock Island.
Surviving are his wife; son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Sharon Hessen, Gilbert, Ariz.; three grandchildren; one sister; and one brother.
Wayne `Dick' Jones
Wayne R. 'Dick' Jones, 69, of Davenport died Nov. 29, 2004.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Runge, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery . Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
He was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Davenport, to David and Ida Brown Jones. He married
Nellie Barnwell April 4, 1955. They divorced in 1964. He married
Lucille Hayden April 18, 1965. She died on July 14, 1969. He married
Hazel Young Feb. 28, 1986.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel; stepsons, Patrick, Daniel, and Michael Young; two brothers including, Daniel, East Moline, Albert, Davenport; three sisters.

Rachel D. Nichols, 65, Buffalo, Iowa, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Marion V. Simms, 80, of Davenport died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Genesis West, Davenport.

Estelle A. Goulet, 52, of Rock Island, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, while vacationing in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Dorothy Mae Haswell, 74, of the Coventry Apartments, Rock Island, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at home.
Graveside services and interment will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Family and friends wishing to attend services should meet by 12:30 p.m. at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, for a processional to the cemetery . Memorials may be made to the family.
Dorothy was born Aug. 1, 1930, in Wheaton, Minn., the daughter of Albert G. and Rosa Kassahn Lampe. She married
Elmer Haswell on Aug. 2, 1952, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1983.
Dorothy was a nurse's aid and cardiologist technician, and worked for several local area nursing homes, including St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her brothers, Harvey Lampe, Colona, and Ronald (and wife, Janet) Lampe, Geneseo; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice Jackson
Alice L. Jackson, 93, of Friendship Manor, Rock Island, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday, at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Rock Island.
Alice was born on July 20, 1911, in Chicago, the daughter of Fred and Lillian Peterson Nelson. She married
Louis Reschke, who died. She then was married
to Elmer C. Jackson on Jan. 24, 1959, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Alice was a bookkeeper for several area companies, including Dimock Gould, which she retired from in 1959. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rock Island, the Florence Liebbe Circle of King's Daughters, the Credit Women's Group, the Pythian Sisters, and had served in every chair of the Pilot Club, including a term as president.
Survivors (and spouses) include a stepson, Robert (Carol) Jackson, Rock Island; stepdaughters, Sheila (Kenneth) Wahe, Rock Island, and Joanne Flake, Moline; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Harry; sister, Adeline; and two grandchildren.
Arin Nelson
Arin Dominique Uri Nelson, born Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, of Milwaukee, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, in Milwaukee.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Orr's Mortuary, 1326 4th Ave., Rock Island. Burial is in Babyland at Chippiannock cemetery , Rock Island.
She is survived by her mother, Brianna Nelson and father, Gregory Tucker; sister, Alexis Nelson; brother, Galen Nelson; maternal grandfather, Carl E. Nelson Sr.; maternal grandmother, Diana Maas; uncles, Carl and Brenton Nelson; and a host of other family members and friends. Her brother, Gavin, and her paternal grandmother preceded Arin in death.
Donations to aid in funeral expenses will be accepted by Arin's family and can be sent to the maternal grandfather, Carl Nelson Sr. 1106 4th St., Rock Island, IL 61201.
Though Arin's life lasted just five days, the joy, peace and happiness she bought to her family will last them a lifetime and she will be missed dearly.

Charles Oakley Jr., 78, of Rock Island, formerly of Colona, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Richard Andrew Lagomarcino, 81, of Lawrence, Kan., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community, Lawrence.

He was born Jan. 24, 1924, in San Diego, Calif., to Andrew and Beatrice Bosold Lagomarcino. He married
Rosemary E. McVay.
He was a systems analyst for K.C.S.I. Railroad, Kansas City. He also was a regular columnist for Mensa magazine.
He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mission, Kan., American Legion, Overland Park, Kan., and honorary member of the K.C. Merchant Marines.
Surviving are his wife; and a daughter, Laurie Marlowe, Lawrence.
Wilfred Schmidt
Wilfred F. 'Bill' Schmidt, 84, of Moline, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center, 7th Street Campus, Moline.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, where futher arrangements are pending.
Harry Swanson
Harry V. Swanson, 89, of Milan, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.
As per Harry's wishes, his body will be cremated. Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline, is assisting the family.
Harry was born Sept. 5, 1915, in Moline, the son of Axel and Eva Mary Johnson Swanson. He married
Evelyn Walker in Indianapolis, Ind., in 1937. She preceded him in death.
Harry was employed at Farmall Works, East Moline, for 38 years.
Harry was a member of the National Guard, and also a member of Thor Lodge No. 9 Independent Order of the Vikings. He was an avid fisherman and loved to do wood working and carpentry work.
Survivors are his son (and spouse) Jerry (Janet) Swanson, Milan; sister, Jeanette Rhodes, Arlington Heights, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Leroy Zentic, Lincoln, Neb. He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Sandra Zentic.
