Lola V. Wessels, 58, of Coal Valley, died Feb. 1, 2005, at home.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic, Sterling, Ill. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Private burial is at a later date. Arrangements are by McDonald, Rock Falls.

Lola was born June 4, 1946, in Rock Falls, to Charles and Betty Williams Akers. She married John Wessels Sept. 3, 1966, in Sterling.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Debra, Sterling, Tiffany and Kimberly, both South Haven, Mich., and September Brown, Wyoming, Mich.; sisters, Willmetta Shawyer, Hedgesville, W.Va., Rosemary (and spouse, Bill) Matthews, North Fort Myers, Fla., Theresa Akers, Rock Falls; brothers (and spouses), Claude (Kate) Akers, Rock Falls, and Charles (Pam) Akers, Stockton, Calif.; and two granchildren.

Catherine DePauw
Catherine F. DePauw, 93, a resident of the Hammond-Henry Hospital Extended Care Unit, Geneseo, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Hammond-Henry Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's cemetery , Atkinson. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, where a rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. Memorials may be left to Catherine DePauw Memorial Fund.

Catherine was born April 30, 1911, in Atkinson, daughter of Alphonse and Louise Schatteman VanNorway. She married John Longeville Jan. 22, 1930, in Atkinson. He preceded her in death Oct., 15, 1966. She married Arthur DePauw Dec. 7, 1968, in Atkinson. He preceded her in death in 1995. Catherine was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Circle 9 and Catholic Order of Foresters. She was president of the Atkinson Women's Club for many years and organized the Junior Women's Club. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors (and spouses) include her two sons, Dan (Carol) Longeville, Atkinson, Ron (Sue) Longeville, Atkinson; daughter, Sharon (Burgess) Fitzpatrick, Atkinson; stepson, Richard (Marlene) DePauw, Moline; three stepdaughters, Diane Glazier, Geneseo, Donna (Bill) Johnson, Geneseo, Doreen (Jerry) DeBruyne, Longview, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Sturtewagen, Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eloise Saylor, Ruth VanOpdorp; and a brother, Walter VanNorway.

Inez Frankhouse
Inez Elizabeth Nelson Frankhouse, 75, formerly of Ophiem, passed away Jan. 24, 2005.

Memorial services were held Jan. 29, 2005, in Albuquerque, N.M. Memorials may be sent in her memory to Bear Canyon Senior Center, 4645 Pitt N.E., Albuquerque, N.M. 87111, care of pottery area.

She was born March 10, 1929, in Galesburg, daughter of Wilford J. and Ruth Lund Nelson. She retired after 15 years as a construction reporter for McGraw-Hill.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert N. Boyles and Gregg S. Boyles, both of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Dorman, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Patricia Nelson, Santa Monica, Calif.; a brother, Richard Nelson, Ophiem; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wilfred A. Nelson.

Clara Hook
Clara A. Hook, 91, a resident of Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, died Feb. 1, 2005, at the home.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes, Fulton. Visitation is 1 p.m. to services Saturday. Burial is in Fulton Township cemetery .

She was born July 13, 1913, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Christian and Anne Leslein. She married Roy Hook Feb. 11, 1950.

Survivors (and spouses) are husband; son, Thomas (Ellen) Hook, Rockford, Ill.; granddaughters, Susan (David) Crum and Debra (Robert) Schwarzlose; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anna Ditsworth, Mount Carroll, Ill.

Harlo Ricketts
Harlo B. Ricketts, 86, of Illinois City, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. The Rev. Timothy Ferrill of Illinois City United Methodist Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be Tom Watson, Mike Mathes, Kim Freyermuth, Lane Freyermuth, Neal Keller and Darrell De Keyrel. Burial will be in Drury Reynolds cemetery .

Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Illinois City United Methodist Church. Visitation for Harlo will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Harlo's name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Ricketts family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Harlo B. Ricketts was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Illinois City, son of Raymord J. and Katherine Watson Ricketts. On Oct. 12, 1946, Harlo was united in marriage to Mary D. Ziegenhorn in Providence Baptist Church in Drury Township, Ill.

Harlo was a lifetime farmer in the area. He was a member of Illinois City United Methodist Church, Rockridge School Board, Rock Island Soil and Conservation Board and Hamlet Mutual Insurance Board. In past years, he was active in Boy Scouts and the Volunteer Fire Department.

Harlo was a graduate of Muscatine High School and Muscatine Community College. He later attended the University of Illinois in Urbana before enlisting in the Army during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart from wounds received in Germany.

Harlo will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary; son, Alan Ricketts and his wife, Lori, Illinois City; grandchildren, Aaron and Tracy Ricketts; and a special cousin, Ruth Fuller, Illinois City. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Garry Anderson
Garry G. Anderson, 62, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Andrew cemetery , Andrew, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Quad-City Greyhound Adoptions, St. James Lutheran Church of Bettendorf or the Genesis Heart Failure Outpatient Center of Davenport.

He was born April 29, 1942, in Swaledale, Iowa, son of Chester and Meryl Proctor Anderson. On June 22, 1970, he was united in marriage to Janene Ehlers in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Garry was employed as a supervisor at John Deere Plow Planter Works, Moline, and later at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He retired in 1995 after many years of faithful service.

He was a graduate of St. Ambrose University of Davenport and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

His memberships included St. James Lutheran Church and Quad-City Greyhound Adoptions.

Garry had an abiding love for animals, especially greyhounds. After the dogs' racing careers are over, Garry and others like him help find the greyhounds loving homes and caring families. His own three dogs, Diamond, Chester and Princess, were treasured companions and were truly part of his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Janene; his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Jennifer Anderson, Davenport; sister and brother-in-law, Merrilee and John Woeber, Moline; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Anderson, Centerville, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Benny Conway
Benny Conway, 87, of Davenport, died Jan. 31, 2005, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist, Davenport. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time. Burial is in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.

Arrangements are by Weerts, Davenport.

Mr. Conway was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Backwater, Mo., to Sarah Slaughter and Arthur Conway. He married Ruth Beechum. She died July 1, 1986.

He was employed by Servus Rubber Co., Rock Island.

He is survived by 11 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lloyd Eston
Lloyd Eston, 88, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Roy Jones
Roy Jones, 75, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at his home.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport.

Irene Kreider
Irene S. Kreider, 90, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Services are 4 p.m. Saturday at Weerts, Davenport, with visitation one hour before. Burial is at a later date in Pennsylvania.

She was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Lancaster County, Pa., to Aldus and Edna Book Sheaffer. She married A. Mark Kreider April 12, 1941. He died in 1963.

Survivors are daughter, Edna I. Kramer, Davenport; son, Robert M., Sioux Falls, S.D.; granddaughters, Ellen Honeck, Denver, Colo., Julia Valleroy, Davenport; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Kammerer, Lancaster.

Isa McDonough
Isa M. McDonough, 96, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Marilyn Mizener
Marilyn L. Mizener, 77, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Shirley Myers
Shirley J. Myers, 77, of Davenport, died Feb. 1, 2005, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Weerts, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial is in Fairmount cemetery , Davenport.

She was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Farley, Iowa, to Daniel and Eva Forest Brock. She married Kenneth O. Myers in August 1945. He died in 1996.

Survivors (and spouses) are sons, Randy (Kathy) Myers and David (Trish) Myers, both Blue Grass, Mark (Mary) Myers, Bettendorf; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Zola Cochran; brother, Wayne Christe.

Freda Johnson
Freda C. Johnson, 97, of Bloomington, Ill., died Monday Jan. 31, 2005, at ManorCare Health Services, Normal, Ill.

Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington, with Monsignor Douglas Hennessy officiating. A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington.

She was born Oct. 17, 1907, in Rock Island, daughter of John and Clara Ernst Meyer. She married Earl N. Johnson Jan. 25, 1930, in Rock Island. He died June 25, 1985.

Freda graduated from St. Joseph High School, Rock Island. She worked 12 years for the Illinois Power Co., retiring in 1973. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Altar and Rosary of the church and was a volunteer for BroMenn Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and McLean County Historical Museum.

Survivors (and spouses) include her son, Larry (Nancy) Johnson, Bloomington; daughter, Janet Segobiano, Bloomington; six grandchildren, Lynne (Michael) Barnhill, Heyworth, Ill., Debbie Stewart, Cathy Johnson, Michael (Kathy) Johnson, all of Bloomington, Christy (Dana) Quiram, Mackinaw, Ill., and David (Tiffany) Johnson, Louisville, Ky.; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Meyer, Milan. She was preceded in death by a son, Alan Johnson, six sisters, two brothers, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Mary Jones
Mary F. Jones, 78, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in San Antonio, Texas.

Services are noon Friday at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Michael Wilson
Michael R. Wilson, 59, of Rock Island, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at his home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. It was Mr. Wilson's wish to be cremated following the service.

Michael was born Aug. 20, 1945, in Marshall, Minn., son of Herschel and Marie Wing Wilson.

He owned and operated Mike's Barber Shop in Rock Island for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Svithiod Club, Moline. He was an Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Michael enjoyed playing pool, fishing and golfing.

He is survived by daughters and spouses, Debbie and Scott Hein and Pam and Jerry Smith, son, Joe Wilson, all of Rock Island; former wife and good friend, Donna Wilson, Rock Island; grandchildren, Alex, Brian, Jacob, Paige and Chase; sisters, Doris, Mary and Marie; brothers, Ronnie, Marvin and Glen; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and brothers, Ruben, Dale, Richard and Jerry.

Sadie Elliott-Ivory
Sadie Mae Elliott-Ivory, 56, of Moline, died Jan. 25, 2005, at her parents' home in Pontiac, Mich.

She was born Jan. 1, 1949, in Pontiac, to Emmett Sr. and Ida Mae Elliott. She married Vernon Ivory on Dec. 22, 1974.

She graduated from Marycrest College, Davenport. She worked for John Deere and was a member of the African American Network Group until the time of her illness.

She attended Second Baptist Church, Rock Island, and was a member of the Project Hope Program. She also was honored recently by the Beautiful Women Inside and Outside Ministry. Sadie was a member of the Quad Cities Negro Heritage Society.

Surviving are her loving companion, Vernon Ivory, Smyrna, Ga.; mother, Ida Elliott, brothers, Emmett Jr. (wife, Sarah), Eugene, sisters, Marie McDonald and Arline Cato, all of Pontiac; stepsister, Doris Corimes, Mobile, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Victoria Ivory-Taylor, Jackson, Miss., and Tina Ivory, California; brothers-in-law, Gerorge Ivory, Detroit, Mich., John and William Ivory, both of Syracuse, N.Y. Her father preceded her in death.

The family sends their love to her friends of the Quad-Cities and the surrounding areas who traveled to Detroit to express their farewells and the ones who wanted to be there and weren't able.
