Julia Snyder
Julia C. Snyder, 89, of Albany, Ill., died Jan. 30, 2005, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. today at Bosma-Renkes, Fulton. Burial is in Memorial Park cemetery , St. Louis, Mo. Visitation was Monday.

She was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Flora, Ill., to Edward A. and Cora Summitt Tisdale. She married Leo Snyder May 23, 1937. He died Oct. 9, 1983.

Survivors (and spouses) are her son, Robert (Virginia) Snyder, Ballwin, Mo.; grandchildren, Susan (Bill) Snyder-Sanker and Annemarie (Andy) Grage; great-grandchild, Catherine Sanker; niece, Betty Pettit. She was preceded in death by a son, George.

Benny Conway
Benny Conway, 87, of Davenport, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at his home.

Services are pending with Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Timmy `TJ' Drinkall
Timmy Joe 'TJ' Drinkall, 54, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Davenport, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at his home surrounded by his wife and sons.

At his request, cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Crosby-Kunold-Burket-Swanson-Golden Mortuary, Omaha. Memorials may be made in his name to Transport For Christ at 9907 Sapp Bros. Dr. Omaha, NE 68138.

TJ was born Jan. 27, 1951, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Irene Meyer Drinkall. He was united in marriage to Melanie Jess Nov. 21, 1980, in Davenport.

He served in the Army in Europe and Vietnam. He served as chaplain for the Transport For Christ Ministries in Omaha for many years.

He was passionate about airplane models and loved to read books of all kinds. His ministry to others was his greatest joy.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Melanie, Omaha; sons, Clark and Evan both at home; his father, Ralph, Princteon, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Heidi and David Olson, Rock Island, Loretta and Floyd Spencer, Eldridge; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Kathy Drinkall, Bettendorf; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene in 2002.

The family wishes to thank Congressman Lane Evans and Virginia Shelton for all their help in assisting TJ's family with all veteran's affairs during the last two years, it was greatly appreciated.

Leo Gietl
Leo G. Gietl, 90, Davenport, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Crest Health Care, Davenport.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic, Davenport. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.

He was born Jan. 1, 1915, the son of Emil and Anna Gietl. He married Marie Brummell in 1953. She died. He then married Georgeanna 'Gig' Danaher in 1982. She died.

Survivors are three children, including Jane Carter, Bettendorf; eight grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers.

David Hixson
David W. Hixson, 73, a resident of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Trinity at Terrace Park Medical Center, Bettendorf.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Dennis Miller
Dennis L. Miller, 57, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Committal services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pine Hill cemetery . There will be no visitation. Runge Mortuary is assisting the family with final arrangements.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1947, in Davenport, the son of Rollie and Irene Dunn Miller.

Survivors include his sister, Karen Miller, nephew, David Dierickx, and niece, Kelly Rodriguez, all of Davenport; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

Bonita `Bonnie' Paulsen
Bonita L. 'Bonnie' Paulsen, 57, Davenport, died Jan. 28, 2005, at home.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Weerts, Davenport. Visitation is 11 a.m. to services.

Bonnie was born Aug. 9, 1947, in Milan, the daughter of Ida H. Schmidt.

Survivors (and spouses) are daughters, Mischelle (David) Vasold, Ranae (Scott) Ralfs-Gall, both Davenport, Dawn (John) Maxfield, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; mother, Reynolds, Ill.; siblings, Sharon Curtis, Brian Schmidt, both Reynolds, Nadine Liberatore, Springfield, Ill.; special friend and neighbor, Carol Hobart, Davenport.

Gary Ahrens
Gary D. Ahrens, 58, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Animal Welfare Shelter, Milan.

Gary was born March 18, 1947, in Rock Island, the son of Donald and Clara Strauss Ahrens. He married Lesa Ryker on Feb. 21, 1981, in Rock Island.

Mr. Ahrens last worked on Nov. 9, 2005, at Reynolds Manufacturing, Rock Island, as a clerk in the shipping and receiving department after 28 years.

Gary enjoyed dining out and was an automobile buff. He loved spending time with his family and his dog, Casey.

Survivors include his wife, Lesa; sons and daughter-in-law, Adam and Amanda Ahrens, Jay Ahrens and Steven Ahrens, all of Rock Island; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Stacy Ahrens, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Aleck Andich
Aleck M. Andich, 88, of Rock Island, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be noon Monday at the Tri City Jewish Center, Rock Island. Burial is in Rock Island Hebrew cemetery . There is no visitation. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Tri City Jewish Center or to the American Heart Association.

Aleck was born April 4, 1917, in Rock Island, a son of Louis and Sadie Pollack Andich. He married Ida R. Pesses June 23, 1940, in Rock Island.

Al graduated from Rock Island High School in 1935, and recently attended his 70th class reunion. He attended the University of Iowa. He owned and operated with his brothers, Hyman and Marvin, the Readmore Book World in Rock Island and Moline and the Andich Brothers News Agency.

Aleck was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theater. He was a member of the Tri City Jewish Center, Young Men's Social Club, Rock Island Exchange Club, Rock Island Elks and Rock Island V.F.W. Post 1303.

Following his retirement Al enjoyed playing golf, spending time with his family and his special lunches with Bill, Bernie, Harry and Stan.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ida; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Steven Barid, Atlanta, Ga., Gail and Mike Paul, Bellevue, Wash.; grandchildren, Richard Barid and his wife, Aimee, Savannah, Ga., Leah Barid, Atlanta, Aaron Paul, Bellevue; great-grandson, Jacob Barid, Savannah; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Beverly Andich, Rock Island; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hyman.

James Herr
James Phillip Herr, 81, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

James Johnson
James B. Johnson, 82, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Ruth Pratt
Ruth A. Pratt, 94, of Rock Island died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at River Park Healthcare Center, Rock Island.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be at Greenview cemetery , East Moline. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Ruth was born Sept. 20, 1911, in Oslo, Norway, the daughter of Alfred and Jennie Burreson. At the age of two, she came to the U.S. with her family. She married Rolland Pratt in 1935, in Beloit, Wis., where her family had settled. He died in January of 1980.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, cooking and being with her family. When she was younger she and Rolland loved to go dancing.

Ruth is survived by daughters (and spouses), Beverly (James) Skriver, Davenport, and Donna (Harvey) Scott, Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a son, Allen Pratt, Moline; grandchildren, Craig and Tod Waller, Dan, Cindy, Steve and Judy Hyer and Jerry Joyce; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a grandson, Tony Waller and a brother, Laif Burreson.

Gladys Perry
Gladys D. Perry, 91, of Moline, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at her home.

A memorial visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.

Gladys Barker was born April 3, 1914, in Tennessee, the daughter of James W. and Lela Myers Barker.

She married Clarence C. Perry in 1933, in Winfield, Ala. He died in May of 1962.

Gladys loved to read and crochet. She enjoyed playing bingo and Aggravation.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen "Jeanne" Somner, Moline; son, B.J. Perry, Mathis, Texas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Opha Jenkins, Belles, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, John and Cecelia Barker, Rock Island; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Marilyn "Susie" Perry; and granddaughter, Cyndi Welch.

Frances Flidr
Frances A. Flidr, 72, of East Moline, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Services will be 9:15 a.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gilda's Club or Christ the King Church.

Frances was born June 24, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary Matus Flidr.

Ms. Flidr worked at Craemer's Department store, Cedar Rapids, and Deere & Company, Moline and Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in Moline as a personnel administrator.

Frances was a member of Christ the King Church, Moline, the Ever Willing Circle of King's Daughters, and John Deere Retirees. She volunteered at Illini Hospital, Silvis, and Mesa General Hospital, Mesa, Ariz., where she spent her winters.

Frances received her bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University, Macomb. She enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, going to Las Vegas and watching her great-nephew's sporting events.

Survivors include a niece, Anne Medhus, Moline; a nephew, Thomas Medhus, Atlanta, Ga.; a brother-in-law and wife, Glenn and Kathleen Medhus, Moline; sister-in-law, Evelyn Flidr, Cedar Rapids; and great-nephews, John and Michael Westbrooks, Moline; and numerous relatives. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Medhus, and a brother, John Flidr.

Donald Larson Sr.
Funeral services for Donald A. Larson Sr., 84, of East Moline, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline.

Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, where he had been a member.

Mr. Larson died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline.

Don was born April 20, 1921, in Moline, the son of Arthur and Hazel Meeds Larson. He married Margaret State, June 13, 1953, in Colona. She died Oct. 14, 1994.

He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked as a machinist for John Deere Harvester, East Moline, for 37 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Chicago Cubs. He was an avid card player.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Lawrence LaCaille, Rock Island, Lori and Timothy Tigges, East Moline, Kimberly Larson and Brenda Gordon, Florence, Ala., Diane and Don Clodfelter, Milan; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Deborah Larson Jr., Davenport, Ronald and Sherri Larson, Alsip, Ill., Larry and Cheri DePaepe, Hennepin, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren (and one on the way); sister, Phyllis Dawson, Wall, Miss.; niece, Maryanne Steffe, Eldridge. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, and sister, Marian.

Harold Manary Sr.
Harold Manary Sr., 66, of Milan, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at home.

Cremation rites were accorded. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at First Presbyterian Church of Milan. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Services, Milan. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Milan.

He was born March 15, 1939, in Moline, to Marvin and C. Katherine Rettig Manary. He married Janet Miller July 9, 1955, in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Harold owned and operated a service station at 4625 23rd Ave. in Moline.

Survivors (and spouses) are wife, Janet, Milan; four sons, Harold Jr. (Judy) Manary, West Des Moines, Iowa, David Manary, Milan, Douglas (Nancy) Manary, Coal Valley, Curtis (Angel) Manary, Moline; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Elaine) Manary, Andalusia, Clifford "Kip" (Nancy) Manary, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Shirley Woeckener, Cuba, Mo., Marva (Marty) Hoteling, Rock Island; mother, Katherine Isaacson, Davenport; stepmother, Darlene Manary, Rock Island; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
