Merritt "Keith" Mitchell, 65, of Bettendorf, died at Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf Friday, Jan. 27, 2006.
Services are 7 p.m. Monday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf. Interment is private. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 6, 1940, to Merritt and Mildred Mitchell. He married
Margaret Hicks Oct. 22, 1967, in Davenport.
Survivors (and spouses) are wife; children, James (Donna), Davenport, Denice (Phil Campbell), Princeton, Sharon, Oregon; eight grandchildren; brother, Francis (Marlene), Abingdon, Ill.
Norman Sandberg
Norman P. Sandberg, 93, of Bettendorf, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, Bettendorf.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Weerts, Davenport. Visitation is 9 a.m. to services at the funeral home. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.
Norman was born May 17, 1912, in Crookston, Minn., to Axel and Katharina Sandberg. He married
Katharina Mink Aug. 14, 1947, in Munich, Germany. She died Jan. 15, 2005.
Survivors are son, Norman (wife, Carol) Sandberg, LeClaire; grandsons, Luke Sandberg, Princeton, Joe Sandberg, LeClaire.

Edwin Baker, 95, of Rock Island, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Angela Etheridge
Angela Etheridge, 46, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services will be noon Monday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline. Burial will be in Hampton Township cemetery . Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Angela was born in Germany on April 17, 1959. She worked at Export Pack, Milan, for five years, last working Jan. 25.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Simonovich, Heyworth, Ill., Tony Etheridge, Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Stephanie Simonovich, Heyworth, Tiffany Etheridge, Moline; stepchildren, Nathan Etheridge, Gary and Brandy Etheridge II, both of Moline; grandson, Cy Donovan, Heyworth; and brother, Ronnie Ward, Davenport.
Anna Lincke
Anna Lorraine Lincke, 82, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at her St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center home, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice or the church.
The former Anna Lorraine Sill was born June 1, 1923, in Moline, a daughter of Jay and Alice Johnson Sill. She married
Paul N. Branham in June 1939 in Moline. He died in 1945 as a result of wounds received in action on Iwo Jima. Lorraine married
Allen H. Lincke Sept. 21, 1946, in Rock Island. He died Nov. 5, 1996.
Lorraine was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island, and formerly a member of the church choir. She enjoyed singing and in earlier years was a member of the Denkmann School Mother Singers.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara A. Novak, Moline, and Joane K, Kline and her husband, the Rev. Kenneth, Rock Island; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughters, Carol J. Gifford and Gloria D. Jackson, three brothers and two sisters.
Evelyn Heinrich
Evelyn I. Heinrich, 84, formerly of Moline, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Evelyn I. Beckwith was born July 11, 1921, to Oscar and Elmina Tirrie Beckwith in Benson, Minn. She married
Gustav A. Heinrich Dec. 28, 1968, in Rio.
Evelyn was one of the first meter maids in Moline and then became the dispatcher for the Moline Police and Fire Departments. Later, she was employed as an assembler for 10 years at Servus Rubber Co., Rock Island, from which she retired in 1985.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Sheila (husband, Bob) Geiger, Orion; one stepson, Michael (wife, Cheryl) Heinrich, Camdenton, Mo.; two sisters, Edna Patrick, Yuma, Ariz., Helen Peterson, East Moline; one brother, Ike Beckwith, Baldwin, Wis.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Margaret Brathall; and four brothers, Alford, Ivan, Harold and Howard Beckwith.
Catherine `Sue' Holub
Catherine "Sue" Holub, 46, of Moline, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

John `Jack on the Rock' Starofsky Sr.
John "Jack on the Rock" Starofsky Sr., 79, of Moline, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at his home.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
Jack was born March 18, 1926, in Moline, son of John and Margaret Starofsky. Jack was employed in sales with the Singer Co. and also with several auto dealerships in the Quad-Cities area. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 1942 and served in the elite group known as the Marine Raiders on Okinawa and other Pacific islands during World War II. He married
Beverly Dye in 1948, in Milan, and together they raised seven children.
Those who will hold Jack's memory in their hearts forever are his wife, Bev; and children (and spouses), Mary (John) Graff, Tennessee, Betty Diehl, Moline, John Jr. (Linda), Davenport, Ruth (Richard) Renshaw, Washington, David (Lynn), Moline, Christine (William) Sokil, Moline, and Richard G. (April), Moline. Jack's younger brother, Richard (Marilyn), lives in Moline, as does his surviving cousin, Verna Trevor. He will be missed by his 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Richard Theuninck
Richard J. Theuninck, 62, of East Moline, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at his home.
The family invites friends and family to a gathering at the family home, 232 Mississippi Court, Campbells Island, at 3:30 p.m. today. According to his wishes, his body will be cremated.
Richard was born Jan. 24, 1944, in Moline, son of Bruno and Zoe Persyn Theuninck. He retired from the East Moline Fire Department after 25 years as a firefighter. Dick married
Louise Schulte in July 1980.
He enjoyed fishing and reading, but especially loved the time with his grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.
Survivors and spouses include his wife, Louise; stepsons, John Schulte, Silvis, Bruce Schulte, Germany, and Erik and Jackie Schulte, Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, Erika, Josh, Jake and Angie; a brother, Roger and JoAnn Theuninck, East Moline, sisters-in-law, Lauretta Scherschel and Dorothy Theuninck. He was preceded in death by brothers, Chuck Theuninck and Don Scherschel, and a sister, Pauline LeMaster.
John Kies
John A. Kies, 92, of Pewaukee, Wis., formerly of Milan, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Kirkland Crossings, Pewaukee.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial is in Calvary cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, is in charge of arrangements.
John was born Jan. 2, 1914, in Alton, Ill., a son of Ernest and Pearl Masulla Kies. He married
Helen A. Klein April 19, 1941, in Alton.
Mr. Kies worked for Container Corp. of America for 34 years and retired in 1979. During World War II, he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, and the United Paperworkers Union Local 191, which he served as secretary/treasurer for 18 years. John loved gardening, was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, Hartland, Wis.; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Jack Marinan, Hartland, and Rosemary and Duane Sanders, San Diego, Calif.; son, John Reed Kies, Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Jay and Joel Marinan, Kate Tellef, Drew Sanders and Thomas Reed Kies; and a great-grandson, Jack Tellef. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and a brother.

Phyllis Bitler
Phyllis R. Bitler, 78, of Albany, died Jan. 25, 2006, at home.

Phyllis was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Fulton to Clarence and Helen Wulf Wierema. She was a 1944 graduate of Fulton High School. She married
Donald "Bud" Bitler Oct. 11, 1947, in Sterling, Ill. He died in 1972.
Survivors (and spouses) are her sons, Steven Bitler, Danny (Meridee) Bitler and Harry "Butch" (Karrie) Bitler, all of Albany, Bruce Bitler, Beech Grove, Ind., and Brian (Vicky) Bitler, Port Byron; a daughter, Dawn (Rob) Snowden, Albany; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Boerema, Clinton; and two brothers, John (Annie) Wierema, Clinton, and Robert (May) Wierema, Chico, Calif.

John F. Cessna, 76, of rural Mineral, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at the Kewanee Hospital Emergency Room from injuries received in an accident in Mineral.

He was born Sept. 29, 1915, to Tommy and Jessie Francis.
Surviving are his wife, Marie; daughter, Linda Vos, Prophetstown; sons, Ronald Francis, Prophetstown, and Jerry Francis, Lyndon; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Buck, Seattle, Wash.; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Arman.
Grace Keesler
Grace L. Keesler, 94, of Kewanee, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Royal Oaks Health Care Center, Kewanee.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Rux, Kewanee. Visitation is one hour prior to services, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 10:15 a.m. Private burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee.
She was born Sept. 7, 1911, to Glenn and Sadie Stabler. She married
Haydn Keesler Aug. 31, 1948. He died Jan. 20, 1979.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
