Karen M. Lane, 68, Albany, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at her home.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Albany United Methodist. Burial is in Lusk Memorial cemetery , Albany. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Renkes, Fulton.

She was born May 21, 1937, to Carl C. and Betty E. Reick Petersen. She married James R. Lane Sept. 17, 1956, in Corinth, Miss.

Surviving are her husband; daughters, Karla Hill, East Dubuque, Ill., Jacquelyn Damhoff, Fulton; grandson, Ryan Damhoff. She was preceded in death by son, Richard, and granddaughter, Katelyn.

Leland Pearson
Leland E. Pearson, 76, of Galva, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006. at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Rux Funeral Home, Galva.

Jerrod Roselieb
Jerrod R. "Jerry" Roselieb, 55, of Green Forest, Ark., formerly of Erie, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in Green Forest.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Burial with military rites will be in Sharon cemetery , Erie. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. A memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Roselieb was born July 5, 1950, in Moline, son of Oscar "Ted" and Lela Post Roselieb.

He served as a helicopter door gunner in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was wounded when his helicopter was shot down in Vietnam and spent many months in the U.S. Naval Hospital in Chicago. Jerry was awarded the Purple Heart for his injuries. He married Diane Kallebach in 1972 in Lyndon. He later married Debbie Hunter in 1979 in Morrison.

Jerry was employed at Billie's Place in Green Forest. He enjoyed barbecuing and all outdoor activities.

Survivors include his wife, Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Justine Roselieb, Seattle; a son, Keith Rixen, Moline; his mother, Lela Roselieb, Port Byron; sisters, Patricia Edie, Erie, Georgia Cooper, Prophetstown, and Leah Garrison, Port Byron; half-sisters, Diane Ruth, Sterling, and Lorene Holloway, Rock Falls; brother, Darrell Roselieb, Erie; and a half-brother, Duane "Butch" Roselieb, Prophetstown. He was preceded in death by his father and nephews, Landis Garrison and Scott Holloway.

Kent Schroeder
Kent A. Schroeder, 56, of Geneseo, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Pathway Hospice, Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

As he wished, cremation rites were accorded. There will be no services. Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, is in charge of arrangements.

Kent was born Nov. 30, 1949, in Geneseo to Sheldon and Louise Brock Schroeder. Kent married Beverly Halperin in 1992 in New Jersey. She died in 2005.

He was an executive in mergers and acquisitions for Scott Printing Co. in New York City. Kent and Beverly returned to Geneseo in 2000.

Survivors include his mother, Louise, Geneseo; brother, Calvin Schroeder, Ohio; nephew and spouse, Rodd and Terri Schroeder, Chardon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father.

Phyllis Sedam
Phyllis C. Sedam, 89, of New Boston, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo.

Donald Erickson
Memorial services for Donald E. Erickson, 86, of Rock Island, will be 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Westside Assembly of God, Davenport. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Westside Assembly of God or to a favorite charity.

Mr. Erickson died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at his vacation home in Apache Junction, Ariz.

Don was born May 20, 1919, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Solomon and Margaret May Hatch Erickson. Mr. Erickson married Marguerite Pforts in 1937. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1976. Don later married Darlene Mitchell on Jan. 3, 1981, in Davenport.

Don retired from International Harvester Co. in 1985. After his retirement, Don and his wife, Darlene, enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Arizona.

Mr. Erickson was a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; a daughter and her spouse, Sharon and Larry Jessen, Davenport; a son, Donald E. Erickson Jr., Bettendorf; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Erickson was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and a daughter, Beverly Bechel.

Eugene Gindlesparger
Eugene G. Gindlesparger, 86, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Pathway Hospice at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, following an extended illness.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, corner of 20th Street and 5th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial is in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the church.

Eugene was born June 15, 1919, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of Walter and Blanche Alheim Gindlesparger. Gene met his sweetheart, the former Marion Selle, through a friend, Harry George, who told Gene that Marion liked to horseback ride. Many a date was on the horses, walking, or over to Marion's folks for a meal. They were married October 11, 1942, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Gene was a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from Midway Oil Co., Rock Island, where he was vice-president and treasurer.

Way into his 80s, Gene still rode a bicycle, walked, and he loved his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking, reading, the piano and guitar. Rock Island's Immanuel Lutheran Church was first and foremost in his life, serving as a deacon, elder, and on numerous boards. Gene and Marion spent many a day delivering flowers, food and visiting the sick and elderly in the name of the church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marion; four children, Robert Gindlesparger and his wife, Terry, Bettendorf, Mark Gindlesparger and his wife, Sue, Murphysboro, Ill., Jim Gindlesparger, Broomfield, Colo., and Cynthia DeGreve and her husband, Bob, Billings, Mo.; as well as five grandchildren, David, Anne, Matthew, Emily, and Crystal. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Gwen and Elaine.

Anna Lincke
Anna Lorraine Lincke, 82, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Dennis Peters
Dennis K. Peters, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Services with Mass are at noon Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 4:45 p.m. at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Denny would appreciate any memorials be made to The Worker House, 901 20th St., Rock Island, IL 61201.

He was born in Davenport, on Feb. 1, 1941.

Denny was a vice president with Properzi International, with offices in Italy and Davenport, retiring after 43 years with the company. He traveled worldwide for his work and had many, many adventures, whether it was being injured and spending time in a remote hospital in China where they had never seen blue eyes before, or traveling on a bus all day in rural India to get to a phone for a weekly call home, or being spit on by a camel in a desert. He took it all in stride, with his matter-of-fact attitude and dry sense of humor. He loved to travel, and he loved to come home.

He enjoyed his membership at St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Kiwanis Club of Rock Island, where he was able to volunteer and be inter-club chairperson.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 26 years, Emma Carrillo-Peters; children, spouses, and grandchildren, Xochi and Mitch Pannell, Moline, Miguel and Lori, Jessica, Caitlyn, and Brooklynn Herrera, all of Davenport, Delia Herrera and Jon Keim, both of Rock Island, Marcos Herrera, Chicago, and Josh Wright, Moline; and Denny's close family of friends in the "Group" and his family in Mexico City and Guadalajara, Mexico. He is also survived by the Peters Family, Mrs. Esther Peters, Carol, Barb and Tom, also Sherry, Gary, and Greg, and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Peters.

Brenda Wilson Byers
Brenda Wilson Byers, 61, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, after a long battle with diabetes.

A memorial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at First Presbyterian Church of Milan.

She was born July 2, 1944, in Moline, the daughter of Harold and Arleta Carr.

She was an artist in many ways, a professional cake decorator, oil painter, stained glass, enjoyed crafts, country music concerts, traveling and flea markets, but most of all she loved being a mother, wife and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Les Byers (retiree of Navistar), Springfield, Ohio; two daughters and a son, Tammy Clary, Bellefontaine, Ohio, Tina Bonenberger, Springfield, Ohio, and Brian Wilson, Milan; one brother, Ned Carr, Colfax, Iowa; three stepchildren, Carla Krause, Annette Detra, and Jerry Byers, all of Illinois; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ronald Gibb
Ronald D. Gibb, 62, of Dubuque, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dubuque, with the Rev. Merlin Schlichting officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, and also after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. A Ronald D. Gibb memorial fund has been established.

Ronald was born July 13, 1943, in Moline, the son of Bryce and Fern Lewis Gibb. He married Dorothy I. Kennedy on April 24, 1965, in Aledo.

He worked for Iowa Illinois Gas until he moved to Dubuque where he then worked for Dubuque John Deere Tractor Works in plant engineering, until his retirement in 2001.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the Meadows Golf & Country Club. He enjoyed driving his Corvette, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors (and spouses) are his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Cathie (Mike) Cissne, Pewaukee, Wis., and Julie (Jim) Mecham, Franklin, Wis.; two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kyle Cissne; his parents, Bryce and Fern Gibb, Moline; one sister, Linda (Tom) Gawel, Sleepy Hollow, Ill.

John `Jack on the Rock' Starofsky Sr.
John "Jack on the Rock" Starofsky Sr., 79, or Moline, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Moline.

Mary Smith
Funeral services for Mary A. Smith, 88, of East Moline, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, where she was a member. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to her church.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Mary Giovenazzo was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Rock Island, daughter of Giacinto and Concetta Pollicino Giovenazzo. She married Robert N. Smith Oct. 10, 1936, in Rock Island. He died Dec. 12, 1983.

Mary had worked at the former Palmer Florist and Hott Brothers Florist in East Moline. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Silvis, a member of the USS Arizona Reunion Association and a member of the Italian/American Society.

Survivors include children and spouses, Jack T. and Patricia Smith, Moline, William C. and Ilona (Lee) Smith, Cornville, Ariz., and Lisa M. and Robert Jones, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Diana Gaertner, Philip Jones, Brian Smith, and Erin Smith; two great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren, Rhona Pinkney, Kim Sampson and Becky Moreland; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; sisters, Angela Schold, East Moline, Jeanette Kelley, Kewanee and Dorothy Mann, Silvis; and a brother, Samuel Giovenazzo, Moline.

Her husband; sisters, Teresa Ickes, Rose Orendorff, Catherina Giovenazzo and Annie Giovenazzo; and brothers, Joseph Givens, Michael Giovenazzo and James Giovenazzo preceded her in death.

Richard Theuninck
Richard E. Theuninck, 62, of East Moline, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2006, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Among survivors is his wife, Louise.

Grace Versypt
Funeral services for Grace E. Versypt, 92, of East Moline, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Memorials maybe made to the Monsignor Cleary Endowment Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Mrs. Versypt died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Grace Lenc was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Chicago, daughter of Frank and Emma Pihera Lenc. She married Andre J. Versypt Nov. 5, 1938, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. He died July 9, 1991.

She had been a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, National Catholic Society of Lady Foresters and the St. Anne Guild. Grace enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and 500, which she played several times a week until about a month ago.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Bill Tiernan, East Moline, and Joanne De Coster, Bettendorf; son and daughter-in-law, John and Janet Versypt, Cordova; grandchildren and spouses, Michael Tiernan, East Moline, Molly and P.J. Foley, Rock Island, Brian and Darcy De Coster, Iowa City, Jeff and Kristi De Coster, Bettendorf, Jane and John Engelhardt, Waukee, Iowa, Kevin and Tricia De Coster, West Des Moines, Iowa, Jennifer Versypt, Cordova, Joel Versypt, Cordova; seven great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Robert Diehl, Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Joseph Versypt; twin sister, Mildred Odean; brothers, George and Robert Lenc.

John Kies
John A. Kies, 92, of Pewaukee, Wis., formerly of Milan, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Kirkland Crossing, Pewaukee.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Further arrangements are pending at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan.
