Susan Kropp
Susan Kropp, 56, of Sherrard, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, in Milan.

It was her wish to have her body donated for scientific study. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Susan was born March 6, 1950, in Geneseo to Glen Skonberg and Clare Jane Tracey Skonberg. She was previously married to Richard Kropp.

Susan was employed with the U.S. Postal Service at its processing and distribution center in Milan. Her primary interest was her family. She was loved by all.

Surviving are her mother, Clara Jane O'Connor, Colona; children, Damien Kropp, Moline, Danielle Skonberg, Sherrard, Derek Gradert, Rock Island, Paula Gradert, Rock Island, and Jami Kropp, Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Blake, Devon, Chase, Sidney and Kaelen; sisters, Kelly Kirksey, Las Vegas, and Karen Defauw, Colona; brother, Tim O'Connor, Geneseo; boyfriend, Jim Williams, Davenport; and best friend, Russel Diediker, Sherrard. Preceding her in death were her father and a son, Cory Gradert.

Arthur Painter
Arthur P. Painter, 85, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo.

Katie Pearson
Katie M. Pearson, 86, of Colona, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. today at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

She was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Clinton, Ky., to Henry and Devora Stevens Tarkington. She married George Pearson April 24, 1937, in Clinton.

Survivors include her husband, George, Colona; daughter, Barbara Newton, Colona, Shirley Umporowicz, Carbon Cliff; sons, Jimmy Pearson, Bradenton, Fla., Donald Pearson, Geneseo, Tom Pearson, Sarasota, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Hainline. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Bonnie Stanlake
Bonnie L. Stanlake, 80, of Galesburg, died peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Marigold Health and Rehab, Galesburg.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Bonnie Shaffer was born April 13, 1926, in Cranston, Iowa, daughter of Lyle and Lavonna Davis Shaffer. She married Lloyd Stanlake Aug. 10, 1946. She had worked at the former East Moline State Hospital and retired from the former Galesburg State Hospital in 1985 after 21 years of service.

Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Stanlake, Galesburg, Kathy Stanlake, Galesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Laura Stanlake, Yukon, Okla.; sisters, Phyllis Gomez, East Moline, Frances Shaffer, Silvis, Madeline Phelps, Moline; brother, Wayne Shaffer, East Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jacqueline Duhlstine; and brother, Ernest Shaffer.

Andreas "Andy" Bairaktaris
Andreas "Andy" Bairaktaris, 60, of Davenport, died Monday, June 12, 2006, in Davenport.

A prayer service for Andy will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until service time at the mortuary. Burial and additional services will be held in Agia Eleni, Greece.

Andreas Nicolaos Bairaktaris was born Nov. 22, 1945, in Greece, son of Nicolaos and Maria Bairaktaris. He married Alexandria Bairaktaris July 18, 1971, in Greece. She preceded him in death Sept. 13, 2004.

Andy worked as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Davenport for more than 30 years. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. He was an active member of the YMCA, Davenport. He enjoyed swimming, exercising, walking, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include his daughters, Dimitra Kasimatis and her husband, Kosmas, Somerset, N.J., Maria Bairaktaris and her fiance, John Baltsas, Chicago; and a brother, Theodoros Bairaktaris, Greece. He was preceded in death by his wife, and his parents and brother, Dimitri Bairaktaris.

James Murrell
James Murrell, 78, of Davenport, died June 13, 2006, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military rites.

He was born Sept. 2, 1927. He married Evelyn Untz Feb. 14, 1953.

Surviving are wife; children; Michael, Diane, Steven, David, Patrick, John, Daniel, Mary Ekstrand, Colleen, Julie Sheraden, Thomas, James, all Davenport; 12 grandchildren; brother, Robert ; sister, Maple, Davenport.

Mary Sessler
Mary Jane Sessler, 54, of Eldridge, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006.

Arrangements are pending at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Maggie Spivey
Maggie Spivey, 85, of Davenport, died Friday, June 9, 2006.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Progressive Baptist, Davenport. Burial is in Pine Hill cemetery . Visitation is 10 a.m to time of services. Arrangements are by Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.

She was born March 2, 1921. She married Gilbert Cox. She later married Willie Spivey Jr.

Surviving are children, Annie Stewart, Davenport, Bettye Coleman, DeKalb, Willie Spivey, Chicago; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six siblings, including Laura Randolph, Davenport.

Randy Waddington
Randy Richard Waddington, 45, of Davenport, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Davenport.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Runge, Davenport. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until time of services. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery , Davenport.

Randy was born Aug. 8, 1960, to Dave and Charlotte Stevens Waddington.

Survivors (and spouses) include his sons, Michael and Nichalos Waddington, sister, Tricia (Rupert) Zamora, brothers, Brian, Dave (Brenda), all of Davenport; two granddaughters; fiancee, Ann Moore, Kansas; uncle, Robert Waddington, Davenport.

Billie Brose
Additional survivors for Billie L. Brose, 53, of Rock Island, include life partner Ellie Rauch's sons (and spouses), John (Kris) Rauch, Yorkville, Ill., Richard (Paula) Rauch, Montgomery, Ill.; grandchildren, Jason, Samantha, Amanda and Richard; and Billie's dear pet pug dog, Missy.

William Feehan Jr.
William F. Feehan Jr., 74, of East Moline, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Lucile Finnessy
Lucile A. Finnessy, 89, of East Moline, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

Arrangements are pending at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.

Olive Headley
Olive L. Headley, 83, formerly of East Moline, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. There will be no visitation.

Olive was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Rock Island, the daughter of Ernest and Gladys Walter Epperly. She married Kenneth Headley April 28, 1939, in Unionville, Mo. He died Oct. 17, 1968.

She was an assembler with Honeywell in Phoenix, Ariz., for more than25 years, retiring in 1989. Prior to that, she worked for Bendix Corp. in Davenport. She enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by daughters (and spouses), Virginia (Gary) Steiner, Phoenix, and Mickey (John) DeBaene, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Laura and Buddy and Cindi, Todd, Amy, Kori and Kim; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Lorraine Mose
Lorraine Mose, 83, of East Moline, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline.

Arrangements are pending at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.

Victor Cokel
Victor Cokel, 93, of Monmouth, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic, Monmouth. Burial is in St. Mary's cemetery , Monmouth. Visitation is Tuesday at Hoover-Hall, Monmouth, where his family will be present from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials can go to Immaculate Conception School or St. Jude's Research Center.

Hewas born May 29, 1913, in Alter, Belgium, the son of Jules and Sylvia Landuyt Cokel. He married Irene Murphy Oct. 3, 1931, in Monmouth. She died Oct. 6, 1999.

Survivors are children, Barbara Leezer, Alice Clark, Robert and Jerry, all of Monmouth; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Hawk, Monmouth.

Alberta Fortner
Alberta A. Fortner, 82, of Aledo, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Arrangements are pending at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo.

Janalee Hook

Janalee Hook, 44, of Port Byron, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at her home.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Katie Pearson
Katie M. Pearson, 86, of Colona, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Arrangements are pending at Family Funeral Services, Colona.

David Griebel
David Griebel, 57, of Bettendorf, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Genesis West.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born in Davenport to Orville and Clarice Laschanzky Griebel.

Survivors are wife, Patricia; children, Tara, Chelsea, David, all Bettendorf; three grandchildren; sisters, Sandy Warner, Dixon, Iowa, Bonnie Johnson, Bettendorf, Dawn Fetters, Davenport; and brother, Orville, Davenport. He was preceded by a son, Chad.

Marlys Nacke
Services for Marlys Nacke, Davenport, are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic, Davenport. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries and 9:30 a.m. to services Wednesday at the church.

She died Saturday, June 10, 2006, in Davenport.

She was born in LeMars, Iowa. She married G. Paul Nacke in 1956. He died in 1993.

Survivors are children, Ann Maxwell, Davenport, Jane Corsiglia, Davenport; son, George, Waveland, Miss.; four grandchildren; and brother, Monty Gralapp, Crystal Lake, Ill.

Glen Ewing
Glen Ewing, 78, of Rock Island, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. today at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Rock Island.

Glen was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Honeywell, Mo., son of Glen L. and Ada Fay Gibson Ewing. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the United States Army. He married Dessie Gaskey in September 1973 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Glen worked for the Rock Island Water Department and the Rock Island Post Office, retiring in 1989. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Rock Island.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Dessie, Rock Island; daughter, Rita (Richard) Bagge, Belmont, Mich.; stepdaughters, Rosalee (Dean) Clark, St. Louis, Mo., and Cheri (Laverne) White, Ocoee, Fla.; stepson, Ronald (Shaula) Heaton, Davenport; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; six stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and brothers, Norman Ewing, Milan, and E. Wayne (June) Ewing, Moberly, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Ewing; and a grandson, Matthew Bagge.
