Delbert Lewis
Delbert G. Lewis, 69, of Moline, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 12, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery , Moline. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 569/200 and VFW Post No. 1303 of Milan. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Delbert was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Monterey, Calif., to Carl and Ethel Cooper Lewis. He married Bettie L. Courtney March 26, 1960, in Monterey. She preceded him in death in 2004.

He was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. He worked at I.H. Farmall Works, Rock Island, until the plant was moved to Indianapolis. Delbert was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Moline.

Survivors (and spouses) include one daughter, Darcy (Rod) Danner, Rock Island; three granddaughters, Janessa, Amanda and Ociana; two grandsons, Bryant and Zachary; two nieces, Gina Moorehead and Wendy Moorehead-White; and one nephew, Monte Moorehead. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin Lewis; and one son, Darin Lewis.

Michael Medinger
Michael D. Medinger, 57, of Moline, died June 8, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave, Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mike was born Feb. 12, 1949, in Moline to Mike and Delores "Dee" Black Medinger.

Mike was a general mechanic for Alcoa for 10 years. He previously had worked for 25-plus years at Inpro Inc. He liked cars and fixing things. He enjoyed working around the house and making things for his daughters. He was in the Marine Corps Reserves.

Survivors (and spouses) include daughters, Nancy (J.J.) Ruther, Arizona, Michelle Medinger, Wisconsin; sister, Susan (Cindy) Medinger, Davenport; brothers, John (Cindy) Medinger, Moline, Chuck (Cindy) Medinger, Wisconsin; grandkids, Jake, Brady and Cole Ruther; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Billie Pfeiff
Billie L. Pfeiff, 86, of Moline, died peacefully at her home June 8, 2006, after a courageous five-year battle with lung cancer.

Services will take be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist, East Moline, with visitation at the church beginning two hours before the services. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, where Billie was a member. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Rosehill, Iowa, to James and Lillian Huber Leatherman. She married Horace Pfeiff Sept. 5, 1939, in Jefferson, Mo. He preceded her in death June 6, 1991.

Billie was a lovely housewife and great seamstress.

Survivors (and spouses) include daughter, Joyce (Boyd) Simpson, Leadville, Colo.; son, Dr. James (Michele) Pfeiff, Oneida, N.Y.; sister, Donna Baker, California; brother, Francis Leatherman, California; grandchildren, Erica Pollack, Edward Pfeiff, Amy Peterpaul, David Quinn, James Quinn, Nick Pfeiff, and Melissa Simpson; great-grandson, Zander Pollack; two godchildren, Amanda and Nick Schroder; sisters-in-law, Gerry Pfeiff and Irma Pfeiff; special friend and caregiver, Cheryl Slead; special friends, Gloria Schroder Van Thorre and her husband, Jeff Van Thorre, Jean and Jennifer McHie, and Lovace Kallenbach; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Ward Leatherman.

Robert Riviere
Robert F. Riviere, 90, formerly of Milan, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Parkview Terrace, East Moline.

Arrangements are pending at Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Patricia "Pat" Becker
Patricia H. "Pat" Becker, 61, of Rockford, formerly of Illinois City, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006, in her home after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Andalusia, with the Rev. Richard Barclift officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, where a Christian wake service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial is in Drury-Reynolds cemetery , Drury Township. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established.

Pat was born April 12, 1945, in Rock Island, daughter of John Albert and Jeanette Hamerlinck Carlson. She married David Becker Aug. 12, 1967, in Milan.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Pat loved gardening, fishing, baking and playing softball.

Survivors (and spouses) include her husband, David; daughter, Kris (Ty) Williams, Andalusia; grandsons, Thomas and Clayton; and brother, Tom (Kay) Carlson, Illinois City. She was preceded in death by infant triplet sons and her parents.

Betty Budd
Betty Lou Budd, 75, of rural Galesburg, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at her home.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Burial will be in Center Grove cemetery , Kirkwood, Ill. Visitation is 10 a.m. to services.

She was born May 26, 1931, to Frank Sr. and Mary Pedigo Armstrong. She married Virgil A. Bogener Aug. 28, 1948. He died Feb. 22, 1964. She married Gary Budd Dec. 20, 1974, in Galesburg.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Budd, Galesburg; four sons, Tom Bogener, Moline, Jim Bogener, Folsom, Calif., Ron Bogener, Vinton, Iowa., and Bill Bogener, Cameron, Ill.; one daughter, Janet Bogener Moore, Fresno, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters; and two brothers.

Don Fuller
Don Fuller, 82, a resident of Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at the village.

Arrangements are pending at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo.

Gerald Goodlander Jr.
Gerald T. "Jerry" Goodlander Jr., 56, of Colona, died June 9, 2006, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline.

Donald `Fuzz' Hulsey
Donald L. "Fuzz" Hulsey, 61, of Kewanee, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at Royal Oaks Nursing Home, Kewanee.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Floral Hill cemetery , Neponset.

He was born April 21, 1945, in Kewanee to Lloyd W. and Josephine Scott Hulsey.

Survivors include his brothers, Scott Hulsey, Galva, and Richard, East Moline; sister, Marilyn Carpenter, Kewanee; two nieces, two nephews and seven great-nieces and -nephews.

Mildred Josephson
Mildred Irene Josephson, 83, of Galva, died, Friday, June 9, 2006, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist, Galva. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rux, Galva. Burial is in Galva cemetery .

She was born April 23, 1923, to Charles and Florence Gamel Coleman. She married Russell C. Josephson Feb. 19, 1944.

Survivors (and spouses) include her husband; daughter, Sue (Steven) Hoffman, Loves Park, Ill.; grandchildren, Emily (Tony) Renteria and Eric Hoffman; great-grandson, Dominic Renteria; sister, Maxine (Leslie) Goff, Woodhull.

Mary Maloney
Mary Louise Maloney, 91, of rural Alexis, died Friday, June 9, 2005, at her home.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Alexis United Presbyterian. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to services. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery , Galesburg.

She was born Aug. 14, 1914, to George A. and Belle Mann Porter. She married William Scott Maloney on Christmas Day 1942.

Survivors (and spouses) include her husband; daughter, Sara Ann (William) Meyer, Alexis; grandsons, Kip (Carmen) Meyer, Wildomar, Calif., and Tod (Laura) Meyer, Bloomington, Ill., five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Grant, Claire, Parker and Blake; two brothers, George A. (Phyllis) Porter, Melbourne, Fla., and W. Dale (Caroline) Porter, Galesburg.

Augusta VanDeWalle
Augusta H. VanDeWalle, 91, of Port Byron, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Parkview Terrace Healthcare Center, East Moline.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Rapids City, where she was a member. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 3 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church.

The former Augusta Helena Verhaeghe was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Olathe, Kan., daughter of Alphonsus and Maria DeMeyer Verhaeghe. She married Camiel VanDeWalle Aug. 28, 1940, in Olathe. He died Jan. 25, 1997. Mrs. VanDeWalle enjoyed gardening, her flowers and making pies, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Eechaute, Geneseo; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Cindy VanDeWalle, Port Byron; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Claerhout, Shawnee Mission, Kan. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son-in-law, Jim Eechaute.

Kenneth Alger
Kenneth Alger, 78, of Davenport, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Iowa City.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Among survivors is his wife, Fran.

Norma Deatherage
Norma L. Deatherage, 81, of Davenport, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Jacqueline Peterschmidt
Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Peterschmidt, 69, of Davenport, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, following a courageous battle and extended illness. She is now at peace and with the Lord.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 12, in the All Faith Chapel at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the family and will go to a memorial to be decided upon in Jackie's name.

Jackie was born Feb. 21, 1937, in Iowa City, daughter of Charles A. and Violet "Vi" Jepsen Waite. She graduated from the former Davenport High.

She was united in marriage to Jack L. Peterschmidt Oct. 22, 1955, in Davenport. They had enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage and had many blessings in their life together.

Jackie was employed for many years at the former St. Luke's Hospital in the business office and for Anesthesia & Associates. She and Jack were longtime members of the Davenport Elks.

Her family was her greatest joy in life. She cherished her husband, children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Cubs fan.

Survivors include her beloved husband; daughters and a son-in-law, Jill and Scott Birmingham, Cordova, and Amy Sehmann, Davenport; sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff Peterschmidt, Portland, Ore., Stephen and Gayle Peterschmidt, Davenport, and Michael Peterschmidt, Milan; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Deloris Rankin, Texas, Pat and Charlie VandeSampel, Milan; and a sister-in-law, Linda Tucker, Chillicothe, Ill. Her parents and a brother, Al Tucker, preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.

Joan Truman
Joan F. Truman, 73, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Thomas Kell
Thomas Roy Kell, formerly of Rock Island, passed away May 24, 2006, in Santa Barbara, Calif., after a valiant battle with cancer.

A remembrance and wake will be held at Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara on the Summer Solstice, June 21, where Tom will be set free on the winds and water he loved.

Tom was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Davenport and lived for 59 eventful years. Tom lived and attended school in Rock Island and at the University of Illinois before moving to California in 1968.

Tom was a free spirit who made his homes in Southern California, New Mexico and Costa Rica before retiring to Santa Barbara for his final years. He traveled the world and spread his charm to all who met him.

He was a lifelong entrepreneur dealing in oriental carpets, native American items, antiques, vintage automobiles and real estate. He became an authority on oriental rugs, publishing a book on that subject in 1973.

Tom is survived by his brother, Dick Kell, Coarsegold, Calif.; wife, Eva Linowski, daughters, Sasha Gibson and Magdalena Linowski, and granddaughters Emma and Lila Gibson, all of Santa Barbara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ruth Kell, and a grandson, Liam Gibson.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Lorraine Coberley
Lorraine Coberley, 88, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Moline, and most recently, a resident of Peoria, Ill., and St. Joseph Nursing Home, Lacon, Ill., died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, after a prolonged series of illnesses.

Burial was in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Mrs. Coberley was born Lorraine Ezela Cramer June 2, 1918, in Iowa, the daughter of Claude and Lula Sarah Collins Cramer. She married Elbert Coberley on Feb. 16, 1941.

During World War II, she worked for International Harvester. Following her husband's return from the war, she was a mother and homemaker. She was a past member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moline.

She is survived by three children (and spouses), Ted (Barbara) Coberley, Denver, Colo., Mike Coberley, Portland, Ore., and Terry (Ron) Wisecarver, Coal Valley; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, a brother and a grandson.
