William Feehan Jr.
Funeral services for William F. "Bill" Feehan Jr., 74, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a liturgy service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, or Beacon of Hope Hospice.

Mr. Feehan went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 11, 2006. He was surrounded by his family at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Bill was born July 12, 1931, in East Moline, son of William and Josephine Scieszinski Feehan Sr. He married Dorothy M. "Dottie" Hoon April 14, 1956, in East Moline. She died Nov. 5, 1987. He later married Dorothy A. "Doe" Crumley Donaldson on July 13, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was stationed in Korea while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He began his career working in the construction trade for many years before his retirement from John Deere Harvester Works in 1992 after 19 years of service.

Bill was an avid sports fan and loved being outside. His favorite teams included the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, the Fighting Illini and all United Township High School sports. He played basketball and softball all his life, including playing in the 50+ Softball League.

His wit and humor will be long remembered. He was a member of the Father Pro Men's Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis, VFW Post 2056, East Moline, and UAW local 865.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Feehan, East Moline; daughters and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ray Bybee, East Moline, Dianne and Tim Hoyt, Moline, Carole and Pat Impens, East Moline; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mark Whitney, Silvis, Laurie Weston, East Moline, Nancy and John Pitsenbarger, Marseilles, Ill.; stepson and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Deb Donaldson, East Moline; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and Don Ziegler, East Moline, Pat and John Hornick, East Moline; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Nancy Feehan, Silvis. He was preceded in death by parents and wife, Dottie Feehan.

The family would like to thank Rosewood Care Center for their loving care and kindness.

Annis Finnessy
Annis Lucile Finnessy, 89, of East Moline, a faithful servant of the Lord, devoted wife for 67 years and loving mother of seven, died June 11, 2006, at Pathway Hospice, Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 15, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will follow services at St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a liturgy service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Hospice or Christ the King Catholic Church.

She was born Feb. 21, 1917, in Vinton, Iowa, to Horace and Bessie Snyder Shaw. She married Austin Edward Finnessy Feb. 6, 1937, and together they celebrated 67 years of joyous matrimony. Her loving husband preceded her in death in 2004. To this marriage were born seven children. These children (and spouses) include John Austin, deceased, (Marge) Finnessy, South Bend, Ind., Robert (Brenda) Finnessy, Columbus Ohio, Mary (Michael) Hendricks, East Moline, James (Judy) Finnessy, Davenport, Thomas (Louise) Finnessy, Cincinnati, Ohio, Kathleen, deceased, (Dana) Sels, East Moline, and Richard (Debra) Finnessy, Beaver Dam, Wis.

She was an alumna of Vinton High School in Vinton and attended Iowa State Teacher's College, where she received her teaching certificate. After raising her family, Lucile worked for Montgomery Ward and became store manager for several years in the Chicago area. She enjoyed worldwide traveling with her husband. Her most enjoyable times were spent being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her cooking was always the highlight of a visit. Her motivational discussions resulted in college degrees for all seven children and all 23 grandchildren. She was proud of this accomplishment and continued to discuss the importance of education with her great-grandchildren. She did volunteer work for Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline.

Survivors include her children and spouses; grandchildren (and spouses), Barbara (Stan) Minks, Joan Finnessy, Patrick Finnessy, John (Eve) Finnessy, Lynn (Wayne) Hofman, Maureen (Brooks) Collins, Michael C. (Anne) Finnessy, Megan (Joseph) Dannenfeldt, Michele Hendricks, Steven Hendricks, Mary Beth (Dean) Kegler, Mark Hendricks, Michael E. Finnessy, James Finnessy, Emily Finnessy, Laurie (Mike) Ashe, Jill Finnessy, Thomas Finnessy, Sarah Sels, Ryan Finnessy, David Finnessy, and Kathleen Finnessy; 16 great-grandchildren, Austin Finnessy, Margaret Finnessy, Elissa Finnessy, Emma Hofman, Brett Collins, Katie Collins, Elizabeth Finnessy, Brooke Finnessy, Kiera Finnessy, Jessica Finnessy, Logan Dannenfeldt, Josh Beghtol, Mary Grace Armburst, Eli Kugler, Anna Kugler, and Marquis Hendricks,; brother, Russell Shaw, Garwin, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, son, and her sister, Bernice Johnson, Vinton.

Lorraine Mose
Funeral services for Lorraine Mose, 83, of East Moline, will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until noon Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Animal Aid Humane Society of Moline, The American Diabetes Association or St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline.

Mrs. Mose died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Lorraine Loete was born April 20, 1923, in East Moline, daughter of Peter and Emma Roman Loete. She married Glenn Mose Aug. 5, 1961, in East Moline. He died Oct. 18, 1990.

She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1991. She had been a member of St. Mary's, East Moline. She loved her cat, Oliver.

Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Mose, East Moline; brother, Peter Loete Jr., Florida; sisters-in-law, Jean Taylor, Port Byron, Evelyn Johnson, Peoria, Veta Loete, East Moline; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin sister, Lorretta DeCapp; sister, Marian Loete; brothers, Alfred Claeys, Lenard, Constant, Andrew and Charles Loete.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood Care Center for the excellent care and compassion they provided.

Lila Churchill
Lila L. Churchill, 65, of Cordova, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Cordova cemetery . Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established.

The former Lila Lee Jordan was born Aug. 28, 1940, in Port Byron, daughter of Charles and Marguerite Murphy Jordan. She married Billie Churchill June 29, 1963, in Rapids City. She had been employed at General Electric, Morrison, Golden Seed Co., Cordova, and Universal Hovercraft, Cordova. She enjoyed collecting angels, her house birds and watching wild birds. Most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; sons and daughter-in-law, Ray and Andrea Churchill, Albany, Steve Churchill, Cordova; a daughter, Lori Knight, Cordova; stepdaughters, Brenda Kachelhoffer, Mansfield, Texas, and Shelley Strombach, Port Byron; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Jordan, Edina, Mo.; and a half-brother, Donald Hook, Mount Carroll. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Douglas on Feb. 19, 2003, and sisters, Mary Bowser and Jane Smith.

Alberta Fortner
Alberta A. Fortner, 82, of Aledo, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at the Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo cemetery . Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where memorials may be left to Serenity Hospice and Community Bible Fellowship. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

She was born April 20, 1924, in Boden, a daughter of George William and Mary Ethel Jones Harris. She attended Boden schools and graduated from Matherville High School. She married George M. Fortner on Nov. 15, 1959, in Aledo. He died April 2, 2002.

Alberta worked for the former Wells Lamont Glove Factory and Bob's Market in Aledo. She and her husband owned and operated the former Fortner Shelter and Care Home in Aledo where she was involved in the day to day administration of the facility.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird-watching, and she especially loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Arlene Axup, Rock Island; a son, George Fortner, Aledo; two granddaughters, Antonetta and Alexandra "Alex" Axup, Rock Island; six sisters, Alice Meyer, Manassas, Va., Phyllis Isaacs, Kewanee, Donna Gulley, Milan, Mary Johnson, Bellingham, Wash., Edith Melton, Bastrop, Texas, Shirley Seals, Beaverton, Ala.; three brothers, Robert Harris, Aledo, and James and Kenneth Harris, both of Boden. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.

Joseph Henseler
Yesterday, a wonderful man left us and went home to heaven. Joseph T. Henseler, "J.T." or "Joe," as his friends knew him, lost his fight with cystic fibrosis Monday, June 12, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was 58 and lived in Colona.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. It was Joe's wish that his body be cremated following the service and his ashes be inurned at Calvary cemetery , Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University of Iowa Children's Clinics or Cystic Fibrosis Research so that they may find a cure for this terrible childhood illness and that other children may grow and live productive lives and not have to fight for every breath.

Joe was born July 14, 1947, in Rock Island, son of Theodore and Mary Fitzgerald Henseler. He married Elizabeth "Sam" Kopp May 18, 1990, in Rock Island.

Joe was the last service manager for the former Learner's Sales and Service, Rock Island, working there for 26 years up to the time of its closing. He then worked for Courtesy Motors, Moline, as assistant service manager for two years before retiring in 1999.

He belonged to many car clubs such as the Niabi Zoo Show, Quad City Street Machine, Good Guys, and many many others. He was at his happiest showing off his cars, win or lose.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sam; stepchildren, Erik Johnson and his girlfriend, Amy Hare, Will Johnson, Gene Simmons, Bobby Davidson and Holly Davidson; his darling, sweet mother, Mary; brothers, Tony and Vince Henseler. He was preceded in death by his father, Ted; sisters and brother, who also had cystic fibrosis, Catherine, Mary Ann and John.

Janalee Hook
Janalee Hook, 44, of Port Byron, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006, at her home.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Andalusia. Private inurnment is in Reynolds cemetery . Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a liturgy service will be recited at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for an education fund for her children.

Jana Allen was born July 25, 1961, in Moline, daughter of James and Violet George Allen. She was a waitress at Deerfield Restaurant, East Moline, and had worked previously as a waitress at Denny's by SouthPark Mall for 20 years. She married Bob Hook May 7, 1992.

Survivors include her husband; children, Nathan Allen Terrill, Rock Island, Natalie Hook and Nolan Hook; her father and stepmother, James and Thelma Allen, Reynolds; sister, Patricia Lynn Downey, Illinois City; brother, William Allen, Rock Island; stepsister Sherry Orey, Silvis, and stepbrother Carl Cross, Channahon, Ill. Her mother, Violet, preceded her in death.

Pauline Hunt
Pauline Hunt, 83, of Geneseo, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo.

Further arrangements are pending.

Susan Kropp
Susan Kropp, 56, of Sherrard, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, in Milan.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Katie Pearson
Katie M. Pearson, 86, of Colona, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Interment is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Katie was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Clinton, Ky., to Henry and Devora Sanders Tarkington. She married George Pearson April 24, 1937, in Clinton.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Barbara Newton, Colona, Shirley Umporowicz, Carbon Cliff; sons, Jimmy Anderson, Bradenton, Fla., Donald Pearson, Geneseo, Tom Pearson, Sarasota, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Martha Hainline. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Armon `Smokey' Stach
Armon E. "Smokey" Stach, 85, of Winter Haven, Fla., and Kewanee, died June 8, 2006, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services are 5 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist, Kewanee. Inurnment is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee. Arrangements are by Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee.

He was born Nov. 11, 1920. He married Marie Lippens May 29, 1946. She died in 1990.

Surviving are daughters, Patricia Stoner, Dunlap, Ill., Peggy Tossell, Kewanee; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Swanson, Geneseo.

Diana Roby
Diana Leigh Roby, 45, of Calamus, Iowa, lost her battle with cancer Monday morning, June 12, 2006, at her home in Calamus.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Davenport West Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.

Diana Leigh Walker was born May 11, 1961, in Davenport, and resided on Big Island, Milan. She was the loving daughter of Harry Walker and Helen Shuck Walker. Leigh was united in marriage to Robert A. Roby on May 12, 2000, in Rock Island. They resided in the Grand Mound and Calamus areas.

Leigh wants to be remembered foremost as a faithful worshiper of Jehovah, devoted to her family and her extended family of Jehovah's Witnesses in congregations throughout the area.

Leigh's family and friends always will have fond memories of her beautiful blue eyes, zest for life, compassion toward others, her sense of humor, her courage in the face of adversity and her almost overwhelmingly beautiful smile.

Leigh began a 22-year career in physical training in Clinton, Iowa, where she established her first Jazzercise facility. Additional Jazzercise classes were taught in Milan, Moline and Eldridge. Leigh was a popular physical trainer and Jazzercise instructor at North Scott Fitness Center.

Surviving are her husband, Robert; a daughter, Alleigh Schomer, at home; three sons, Thomas Kopf and Christopher Schomer, Moline, and Allen Schomer Jr., Fla.; her mother, Helen Walker, Milan; her father, Harry Walker, Princeton; three sisters, Cyndi White, DeWitt, Iowa, Tamara Kuhlenbeck, Muscatine, Iowa, and Wendy Steele, Milan; a brother, Capt. Scott Walker, Gulfport, Miss.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wanda and Ron Roby, Princeton; a sister-in-law, Lori Rhodes, DeWitt; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sarah Schmidt
Sarah Marie Schmidt, 18, Davenport, left this Earth to be with God in Heaven Sunday, June 11, 2006, dying peacefully at her home.

Memorial services are 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran, Davenport. A memorial gathering is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Weerts, Davenport.

She was born Aug. 31, 1987, to Danford and Mary Ann Schmidt. She was a junior at Davenport North High School.

She is survived by her pet, Amy; parents; sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Ron; niece, Rhyan; nephews, Gavin and Brayden; grandmother, Mae Ellestad; grandparents, Dan and Arlene Schmidt.
