Katherine "Kate" Tarchinski, 91, of Davenport, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery , Davenport. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 23, 1915. She married Anthony Tarchinski. He died in 2000.

Surviving are children, Mary Ann Tolbert, Hinsdale, Ill., Judy Sunderbruch, Davenport, Anthony Tarchinski Jr., Eldridge, Nicholas Tarchinski, Davenport, Thomas Tarchinski, Aurora, Ill., Evelyn Everhart, Cincinnati, Ohio, Kathy Picone, Tryon, N.C.; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.

David Timmerman
David M. Timmerman, 71, of Silvis, formerly of McCausland, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, in McCausland.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Runge. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

He married Bessie Brinkman. She died in December 1996.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Rick Verkler, Davenport, Cindy and Dick Bowman, McCausland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Bonnie Timmerman, Utah.

Phyllis Weems
Phyllis R. Weems, 77, of Rock Island, formerly of Hillsdale, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at St. Anthony's Health and Rehab, Rock Island.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Countryside Christian Church, Port Byron. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church. Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron is in charge of arrangements.

The former Phyllis Kettwig was born March 14, 1929, in Joliet, Ill., the daughter of George and Mildred Sandiford Kettwig. She married Joseph Scheidt in Crown Point, Ind., in 1947. He died in 1968. She then married Ephran Weems in 1978. He died in 1987.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Wilbur Flesch, Bettendorf; grandsons, Paul Flesch, Albuquerque, N.M. and Mike Flesch, Port Byron; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lynn Flesch and a son, George Jacob Scheidt.

Ruby Blaylock
Ruby V. Blaylock, 85, of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at her residence.

Local visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. An additional visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Otts Funeral Home, 4255 Hwy. 278 W., Sulligent, Ala., 35586. Funeral services for Mrs. Blaylock will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Peoples Tabernacle Church in Sulligent. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery , Sulligent. Memorials may be made to The ARC of Rock Island County, 5101-52nd Ave., Moline, IL. 61265 or to Trinity Pathway Hospice/Trinity VNHA, 106-19th Ave., Moline, IL. 61265.

Ruby was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Winfield, Ala., the daughter of Elijah and Zora Downey Tucker. She married Leonard A. Blaylock on Oct. 14, 1939, in Gattman, Miss. He preceded his wife in death on March 27, 1971. Ruby was a homemaker.

Earlier she was the bookkeeper for Blaylock Tree Service, which she and her husband owned. She had also worked for the Regalia Mfg. Co., Rock Island. Ruby enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Doris and Fred Ruby, Sulligent, Betty and Ken Schiess, Sherrard, Bill and Rosetta Blaylock, Milan, Dorothy and Jerry Wells, Port Byron, Cathy and Mike Jester, Sulligent, LaVern and Terry Raine, Sulligent, JoAnn Palmer, Moline, Brenda and Bo Marcum, Sulligent; 40 grandchildren; 104 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Blaylock, Sulligent, Sue Taylor, Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Robert Tucker, Rockford, Ill. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers.

Donn Petrie
Donn A. Petrie, 74, of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Association of Retarded Citizens (ARC) of Rock Island County.

Donn was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Kent, Iowa, the son of Arthur A. and Lois L. Quin Petrie. He married Donna Killmon on May 14, 1955, in Creston, Iowa.

Donn served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict.

Mr. Petrie retired after 25 years as an electrician for John Deere Harvester, East Moline. He was a member of Moline American Legion Post 246 and UAW Local 865.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Mario Almanza, Moline and Kyla and Douglas Burcar, Leonore, Ill.; son, Steven Petrie, Moline; grandchildren, Nicolas Petrie, Ryan Almanza and Hannah and Nathan Donn Burcar; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and John Moburg, Ellston, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son, Alan in July 1975; and a sister, Gwen Megrew in 1998.

Joseph Van Bunnen
Funeral services for Joseph A. Van Bunnen Sr., 80, of East Moline, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery , Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Van Bunnen died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline. Memorials may be made the family.

Mr. Van Bunnen was born Nov. 17, 1925, in Moline, the son of Frank and Anna DeCraene Van Bunnen. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received The Bronze Star for Valor. He married Gladys Rendleman in 1944. He later married Anna Colleen Gram May 22, 1971, in East Moline.

He retired from the former Wagner Printers, Davenport, after many years of service. For the last 14 years he had been working for the McDonald's in East Moline. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and sitting by the river.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Van Bunnen, East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Fred Anders, East Moline, Star and Neal Anders, East Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Judy Palmer, Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren, Dawn, Neal Jr., Jennifer, Jim, Scott, Dorothy; 14 great-grandchildren; great-great-granddaughter, Serenity; sister, Loraine Van Dorpe, Sonoma, Calif.; nieces, nephews, and cousins; all his friends at the East Moline McDonald's; and his cat, Misty II. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Regenia Wilson
Regenia M. Wilson, 69, of East Moline, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline.

Frank Carlson
Frank H. Carlson, 86, of Aledo died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at the Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Aledo Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. at the Burge cemetery New London, Iowa. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to the Aledo Church of the Nazarene. He was born May 30, 1920, in New London, a son of C. Henry and Dollie Jane Barney Carlson. He graduated from New London High School. He married Margaret McKinnon in 1948. She died in 1958. He then married E. Donita VonSeggen June 24, 1960, in Farmington, Iowa.

He was employed at the Wells Lamont Glove Factory and the Stout Recorder Company in New London. During World War II he worked at the Case Plant in Burlington and helped build the site for the production of the B24 Bomber. In 1950 he began working at the Iowa/Illinois Telephone Company, moving to Aledo where he worked for Contel and GTE Verizon. He retired in 1984.

He was a charter member and organist for the Aledo Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed woodworking, small appliance repair and wintering in Florida.

Survivors (and spouse) include his wife, Donita; two sons, Larry Carlson, Chester, Mass., Ron (Cathy) Carlson, Greenville, S.C.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Craig Glattly
Craig Frick Glattly, 47, of Lake Forest, Ill., formerly of Atkinson, was killed Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, after a car-pedestrian accident on the Tri-State Tollway near Libertyville.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. Bishop Edward McBurney, Father David Wagner, and Deacon Peggy Lee will officiate. Visitation will be 3-6:30 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Hammond-Henry Hospital Foundation or the Trinity Episcopal Church Building Fund.

Craig was born on July 10, 1957, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Joe and Sandra Frick Glattly.

He was a 1977 graduate of Atkinson High School; he also graduated from Western Illinois and Loyola University. He married Lori Hutchinson after they met while both attending Western Illinois University.

He was an executive with Borg-Warner Acceptance Corporation and Chicago Corporation. In 1995 he founded the Salem Capital Group, an investment banking company.

Craig was very active in many civic activities and served on many financial boards. He was an active member of the Christ Church in Lake Forest. Golf was one of Craig's passions and he enjoyed playing it with his family and friends at the Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park. His love for his entire family was shown through his many acts kindness that will never be forgotten.

Survivors include his wife, Lori; one daughter, Paige, a student at University of Miami, Oxford, Ohio; one son, Grant, Lake Forest; his parents, Joe and Sandra Glattly, Atkinson; one brother, Mark (wife, Jonna) Glattly, Malibu, Calif.; two nieces, Brittany and Heather Glattly; mother-in-law, Lorene Hutchinson, Lake Forest. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law.

Olivene Williams
Olivene Williams, 87, of Canton, Ill., passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Canton.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the memorial home. The Rev. Don Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Memorials may be made to either her church or the American Red Cross in Canton. She was born March 20, 1919, in Fairview, Ill., to Harry and Ethel Brush Ellis.

Olivene worked at the Graham Hospital in central supply for eight years and was member of the Assembly of God Church in Canton.

Survivors (and spouses) include four children, Betty Kinzer and Gene (Pat) Williams, both of Geneseo, Linda (Richard) Voorhees, Urbana, Ohio, and Judy Swearingen, Industry, Ill. Also nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Williams; three brothers and two sisters.

Christine Ramirez Cossin
Christine Ramirez Cossin, 58, Redford Township, Mich., formerly of Davenport, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Angela Hospice Care, Livonia, Mich.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial is in Holy Family cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.

She was born April 18, 1948.

B. Elaine Fitzsimmons, 79, of Davenport, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport.

Margaret Sulentic
Margaret M. Sulentic, 84, of Bettendorf, formerly of Buffalo, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at her home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic, Bettendorf. Burial is in Rose Hill cemetery , Buffalo. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport. There is a 6:30 p.m. Christian wake service today at the funeral home.

Evelyn Marie Thornburg, 77, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Genesis West Medical Center, Davenport.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park cemetery .

Evelyn was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Ralston, Okla., to James and Irene Wilhelm Cummings.

Survivors (and spouses) include two sisters, Carol (John) Larkins, Gadsden, Ala., and Joan (Tony) Eberhart, Yale, Okla.; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Gertrude Creen
Gertrude Frances Creen, 107, of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Moline, or a favorite charity.

Gertrude was born Aug. 19, 1899, in Chillicothe, Ill., the daughter of William and Marcella Bly Creen.

Ms. Creen retired after 39 years as a telephone operator for Deere & Co. general offices. She was the oldest parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Helen Nicholson of Memphis, Tenn., Ethel Quasny, Lois Wilson, Catherine and Vernon Ryckeghem, Beverly and Joseph Pilichowski, all of Moline, R. Joe and Judy Creen, Davenport, Ronald and Doris Creen, Rapids City, Sally and John Van Oteghem and Dorothy Buresh, all of Moline, and Rose Mendel, Dublin, Ohio; niece-in-law, Joan Creen, Moline; several grandnieces and nephews, including Elizabeth and Dan McNeil, John O'Meara Jr. and Paul O'Meara, all of Moline; and a special friend, Elaine Eckles, Moline.

Irene Mekus
Irene K. Mekus, 90, of East Moline, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery , Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

Irene was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Rock Island, the daughter of Peter and Katherine Latsis Gartelos. She married Nick Mekus June 23, 1946, in Moline.

Irene was a member of St. George Philoptochos Society and Daughters of Penelope. She was very active in church affairs, especially the bake sales. Irene enjoyed cooking and baking. Her hobbies included Christmas crafts, painting porcelain figurines and cross stitch. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors (and spouses) include her husband, Nick; son, John (Linnea) Mekus, East Moline; daughters, Kathy Lage, Moline, Georgia (Andrew) Froumis, Morgan Hill, Calif.; grandchildren, Gina, Irene, Nick and Jim; great-grandson, Andy.
