Kathy Schluensen
Kathy Ann Clemmens Schluensen, 50, of Rock Island, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery . Memorials may be made to the family.

She was born Aug. 6, 1956, in Davenport, the daughter of Jerold and Joanne Guyer Clemmens. Kathy was united in marriage to Gerd Schluensen in Moline, April 14, 1991.

She was a selfless mother of three, and enjoyed home schooling her son for three years.

She was a creative domestic artist, sharing her passion for cooking and knitting with others.

Kathy was an active member in her church food buying cooperative. She also participated in wool spinning demonstrations at Walnut Grove.

Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband, Gerd, Rock Island; son, Joel David Schluensen, Rock Island; daughter, Hannah Marie Zbornik, Des Moines, Iowa; son, Stephen James Zbornik, Rock Island; parents, Jerold and Joanne Clemmens, Davenport; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Carol Clemmens, Newton, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and John Chant, Davenport; brother-in-law, Tom Egolf, Blue Grass; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Paula Marie Egolf.

Phyllis Weems
Phyllis R. Weems, 77, of Rock Island died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at the St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at the Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron.

Madge West
Madge West, 96, of Silvis, formerly of East Moline and Red Oak, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Aspen Rehabilitation Center, Silvis.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with visitation one hour before the services. The Rev. Jay Regennitter will officiate. Graveside services and burial are 1 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen cemetery , Red Oak. Memorials may be made to Aspen Rehabilitation Center or Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline.

Madge Alice West was born Feb. 24, 1910, in Unadilla, Neb., the daughter of James H. and Sarah Stoner West. She married Fenno R. West on Aug. 27, 1934, in Glenwood, Iowa. He died Oct. 13, 1975. She was a sales clerk for J.C. Penney in Red Oak for 16 years, retiring in 1975. She moved to East Moline in 1981.

She attended Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, and was a member of First Christian Church, Red Oak. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge.

Madge is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darleen and Ralph Liddell, Moline; two grandsons and their wives, Patrick and Karen Liddell, Rockford, Ill., and Scott and Deb Liddell, Denver, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren, John, Alex, Sarah and Samuel Liddell. She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.

Clois `Gene' Temple
Clois E. "Gene" Temple, 80, of Milan died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Robert Baker
Robert J. Baker, 89, of Aledo died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Peniel cemetery , rural Joy, Ill. Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday.

He was born May 5, 1917. He married Inis L. Coulter on June 8, 1946. She died Dec. 12, 2005.

Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Tony Constant, Rita Parkinson and Robin McLaren, all Aledo; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Grover Ballard
Grover C. Ballard, 69, of Woodhull died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Margaret Black
Margaret L. Black, 96, of Colona was called to heaven by our Lord on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior Monday, Nov. 13, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave. Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Margaret Dayton was born July 2, 1910, in Westchester, Iowa, to Arthur and Glaphrey Lohr Dayton. She married Otis W. Black on July 24, 1928, in Fairfield, Iowa.

Margaret ran the elevator in the Fifth Avenue building for 10 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Derby, Colona; daughter-in-law, Rosa Black, Moline; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; son, Richard; her brothers, Murel and Wyatt Dayton; her sisters, Erma Long and Lela Disney; and her parents, Glaphrey and Arthur.

Mary Byam
Mary Frances Burden Byam, 92, of Erie died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Erie. Burial will be in Erie cemetery . Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a Rosary at 4 p.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. A memorial fund has been established.

The former Mary Frances Burden was born Aug. 4, 1914, in Deer Grove, Ill., the daughter of Vincent R. and Frances Devine Burden. She married Wayne G. Byam on Jan. 1, 1943, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fulton. He died on April 27, 1984.

She graduated from St. Catherine of Sienna High School, Chicago, and the Metropolitan Business College, Chicago. After her graduation she was employed by the U.S. Government issuing Social Security numbers. Mary then worked under the Selective Service System at the Whiteside County Local Board No.1 in Fulton. She later was a legal secretary for Earl Scott, Erie and most recently for Stephen Burns, Erie.

Mary was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Erie and a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Neil Earl, Erie; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Byam, Erie; grandchildren (and spouses), Julie (Bruce) Brooks, Erie, Gina Townsend, Moline, Scott (Christy) Cline, Shawnee, Kan., Elizabeth Byam, Erie, and Eric Byam, Erie; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Blake, Jordan, Keaton, Carter, Chloe, and Ethan; sister, Patricia Aulls, Mount Morris, Ill.; a brother, James Burden, Rock Island; and a very special and loyal friend, Sister Marian "Betty" Smith, Erie. She was preceded in death by a son, James Byam, in 2000; grandsons, Steven and Jeremie; one sister and two brothers.

Frank Current
Frank R. Current, 62, of New Boston, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at his home.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, with military rites conducted at 2, at the Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Cremation rites will be accorded.

He was born Aug. 27, 1944, in St. Joseph County, Mich., to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Current. He married Lois Bennett on Sept. 17, 1988, in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

Frank was a towboat captain with the United States Corp of Engineers Lock and Dam 14, LeClaire, Iowa. He retired in 2003 after 34 years of service.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era.

He repaired and built computers. He owned and operated Currents Pet Emporium, New Boston.

Surviving are wife, Lois Current; stepdaughter, Karla White, Keokuk, Iowa; stepson, Shane Rockelman, Keokuk; one stepgrandson, Seth Wise.

Alta Murnen
Alta M. Murnen, 96, of Galva, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Kewanee Care Home in Kewanee.

Arrangements are pending at the Rux Funeral Home, Galva.

LaVerne Reiling
LaVerne S. Reiling, 61, of Port Byron, died on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service, Davenport.

Kelisianna Armstrong
Kelisianna Lashay Adrianna Armstrong, our beautiful, tiny miracle was blessed upon us on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, weighing only 1 pound, 5 ounces.

Her time here was very short. She left this world from Iowa University Hospital to enter Heaven's gates on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, with visitation one hour prior to services.

She is survived by her mother, Keeyanna Armstrong, Davenport; sibling, Kaileal Armstrong; grandparents; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

David Levings
David M. Levings, 19, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Genesis West, Davenport.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Lutheran, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Cunnick-Collins, Davenport.

He was born on May 11, 1987.

Surviving are parents, Stephen and Sheryn Levings, Davenport; brother, Jared Levings, Ames, Iowa; grandparents, John and Donna Nairn Plank, Davenport, Donna Levings, Davenport; great-grandmother, Helen Hildenbrand, formerly Tecumseh, Kan., currently Davenport.

George Ridgway
George L. Ridgway, 88, of Eldridge, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Vera Schlunsen
Vera O. Schlunsen, 97, of Davenport, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Manor Care, Davenport, following a brief illness.

Committal services are 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at Davenport Memorial Park Mausoleum. There will be no visitation. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is assisting the family with final arrangements.

She was born Oct. 13, 1909, in Scott County, Iowa, to Ernst and Amanda Arp Oldenburg. On May 30, 1936, she married Hugo Schlunsen in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 1992.

Survivors include her many nieces and nephews.

Gary Wadsworth
Gary Wadsworth passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Lorene Wilkerson
Lorene Wilkerson, 78, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Bettendorf Healthcare Center.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, Visitation is 11-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was married to Alvin Jacks.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Jack Pond, Davenport; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Ladana Jacks, Milan; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Bill Snider, Davenport.

Suellen Hainline
Suellen Hainline, 66, of Fair Oaks, Calif., died Oct. 22, 2006, in California, from cancer.

She was born in Rock Island, the daughter of Edward and Helen C. Germaine. After graduating from Rock Island High School, she moved to California.

She is survived by her mother, Helen, two granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren, all in California. She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Barbara.
