Mitchell Stuekerjuergen

Mitchell "Mitch" Lee Stuekerjuergen, 21, of Fort Madison, died Wed–nesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Ill.

Born Nov. 27, 1984, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Kevin J. and Nancy J. Rickelman Stuekerjuergen.

Mr. Stuekerjuergen was a student at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill., majoring in journalism.

He was a 2003 graduate of Aquinas High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison. He built his own computer and was an avid Star Wars and movie fan. At his request he was an organ donor.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Bob Fowler of Fort Madison; his father and stepmother, Kevin and Tami Stuekerjuergen of Fort Madison; one sister, Cyndi Stuekerjuergen at home; one brother, Tyler Stuekerjuergen at home; one stepsister, Courtney Fowler of Donnellson; three stepbrothers, Damien Fowler of Fort Madison and Kyle and Cole Calvert, both at home; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Bernice Rickelman of West Point; paternal grandmother, Nancy Stuekerjuergen of West Point; maternal stepgrandmother, Lila Fowler of Montrose; paternal stepgrandfather, Dan Fraise of Donnellson; paternal stepgrandparents, Brad and Lynn Buckley of Fort Madison; and paternal stepgreat–grandparents, Louis and Cecelia Fraise of Fort Madison and Frank and Betty Lowe of Hamilton, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Church, 23rd Street and Avenue I, Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Stuekerjuergen will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Thomas Parlette officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fort Madison.

A memorial has been established for Holy Trinity Catholic School system.

King–Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.

Ellen L. Whyle

There will be no visitation or services at this time for Mrs. Ellen Louise Whyle, 87, who died Thursday, January 29, 2004. Inurnment will be at a later date in Troy Mills, IA.

Orville Broeker

Orville L. Broeker, 86, of Morning Sun died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Morning Sun Care Center. Arrangements are pending at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun.

Scott Jarvis

Scott Jarvis, 50, of Donnellson died at 9:54 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Aug. 31, 1954, in Burlington, he was the son of James R. and Berdita Mosbey Jarvis. On May 12, 1978, he married Jeanette L. Kramer in Quincy, Ill.

Mr. Jarvis worked as a facility operator for Obra–Johnson Transshipment near Keokuk.

He was a member of Tri–State Gun Club of Montrose, National Rifle Association and Fett's Hunt Club. He participated in the children's wrestling program at Central Lee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, cutting wood, helping friends and restoring his truck. He played semi–pro football in Burlington in his younger years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jacob Jarvis of Danville; two daughters, Alexandria Holtkamp of West Point and Tisha Jarvis of Donnellson; three grandchildren; his parents; three brothers, John Penncock of Clarence, Mo., Mike Jarvis of Franklin and Chris Jarvis of Iowa City; two sisters, LaVita Hibbs of New London and Berdelle Noel of New London; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hofbaur–Schmitz–Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Jarvis will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hofbaur–Schmitz–Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, with the Rev. Judy Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

Norma Callison

Norma Jean Callison, 80, of Burlington, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. 2005, at her home.

Born Sept. 27, 1924, in Sewel, she was the daughter of J.D.S. and Iva Ruttur Beary. On July 20, 1946, she married Carlton W. Callison at Hiwatha, Kan.

Mrs. Callison taught school and was a secretary in Kansas City during World War II, but spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She attended First United Methodist Church of Burlington and was a member of Ruth Circle of Church, T.T.T. Society, Federation Woman's Club and King's Daughters. She graduated from Powersville High School at Powersville, Mo., and North East Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville, Mo. She enjoyed playing bridge.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Gary Carlton Callison of Cedar Rapids and Bruce Beary Callison and Bradley William Callison, both of Burlington; one daughter, Barbara Jean Frank of Dover. N.H.; eight grandchildren; four great–grandchildren; and one sister, Thomasene Shriver of Kirksville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one nephew.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Callison will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church and Great River Hospice.

Miles Rukgaber

Miles J. Rukgaber, 82, of Mount Pleasant died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral for Mr. Rukgaber is tentatively scheduled for Monday afternoon. Specific times and all other arrangements are pending at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

William Hogan

William B. Hogan, 94, of Gulfport, Miss., formerly of Burlington, died at 6 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

Born Feb. 14, 1911, in Keokuk, he was the son of Bernard W. and Anna May Keraghan Hogan. On Jan. 18, 1932, he married Vera C. Fisher in Keokuk. She died Nov. 28, 1998.

Mr. Hogan was a mechanical supervisor for Mason–Hanger at the Iowa Ordinance Plant for 30 years.

He was a longtime resident of the Burlington area, was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Burlington, was past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus in Burlington and past state president of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society.

Survivors include one son, William R. Fisher of Reno, Nev.; one daughter, Bonnie C. Furniss of Gulfport; five grandchildren; several great–grandchildren; one great–great–grandson; one sister, Anna Kinkeade of Keokuk; and nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Christian vigil service at 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Hogan will be at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, with the Rev. Paul Connolly officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery in Keokuk.

Memorials have been established for St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gulfport and All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk.

Lorna Wilson

Lorna M. Wilson, 80, of Burlington, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Nov. 27, 1924, in Morning Sun, she was the daughter of Arthur Verne Sr. and Mary Georgia Siverly Wilson.

Ms. Wilson worked in the nursing profession for 45 years.

She was a graduate of Morning Sun High School and Mercy Hospital College of Nursing in Burlington. She was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Army Nurse Corps in a MASH unit from 1951 to 1960. She was presented a commendation medal for that service and was chosen as Woman of the Year by former POW General Dean.

Survivors include one brother–in–law, William Alter Sr. of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, including her twin, and three brothers.

There will be no visitation.

The graveside service for Ms. Wilson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

A memorial has been established for the Morning Sun Public Library.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun is in charge of arrangements.

Kevin Ackerson

Kevin Todd Ackerson, 39, of Argyle died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born Nov. 6, 1966, in Chicago, he was the son of George Stanton and Diane Wederoth Ackerson. On Feb. 25, 1999, he married Elizabeth Ann Horsey in Fort Madison.

Mr. Ackerson was a graduate of Burlington High School and a recent graduate of Southeastern Community College. He was a member of Argyle Presbyterian Church, was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing and working with computers.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Hannah, Alexander, Casey, Nathan, Caleb, Kelby and Emma, all at home; his mother, Diane Madel of St. Joseph, Mo.; one brother, Rex Wenderoth of Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Hillary Bennet of LaHarpe, Ill.; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at Schmitz–Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Ackerson will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Argyle Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be in Argyle Memorial Gardens.

A memorial has been established for his children's education.

Marcus Long

Marcus Long, 77, of Keokuk, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Lexington Square in Keokuk.

Born Sept. 24, 1926, in Lee County, he was the son of William C. and Viola M. Bunyon Long. On Dec. 16, 1972, he married Man Pu Yim in Korea.

Mr. Long retired from the Air Force as a staff sergeant after 24 years. He then worked for Sheller Globe in Keokuk for nine years.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Sue Ann Long of Keokuk; one grandson; two sisters, Ruth O'Connor of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Anita Laisle of Keokuk; and one brother, John Long of Keokuk.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.

The graveside service with military rites for Mr. Long will be at noon Monday in Keokuk National Cemetery.
