Visitation: Friends may call afternoon where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends following a 6:30 PM Christian Wake Servcie until 8:00 PM Sunday December 21, 2002 at Hass Funeral Home
Mass of the Resurrection: 10:00 AM December 22, 2003 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery

Margaret A. Huber, 88, of Burlington, died at 5:37 AM, Saturday, December 20, 2003, at her home.

Born February 19, 1915 in Burlington she was the daughter of Henry C. and Veronica K. Campbell Dehner. She married Joseph B. Huber on June 17, 1951 in East Dubuque, IL. He died November 23, 1994.

Mrs. Huber worked for American Optical for 32 years, at Sutter’s Drug Store for six years then she retired from the Burlington School System in 1995. She was a 1933 graduate of St. Paul’s High School. She was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church and the former St. Francis Auxiliary. She was an avid Ham radio Operator. She first received her technician amateur license around 1985, her call sign was KA0NXL. A few years later she was upgraded to an advanced class amateur license with a new call sign of KD0ET which was renewed January 20, 1998 and expires January 20, 2008.

Survivors include two sisters, Kathryn Rappenecker and Helen M. Dehner both of Burlington; 24 nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and nephews and two great great nieces. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers and one brother in infancy.

Friends may call after noon, Sunday, December 21, at the Hass Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends following a 6:30 PM Christian Wake Service until 8:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Huber will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 22, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr John M. Hyland and Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as Concelebrants. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery . In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to SS. John & Paul Catholic Church or the donors’ choice.

Delia Katherine Ralston
March 03, 1920 - December 30, 2003

Delia Katherine Ralston, 83, of Burlington, died 2:35 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at her home.

Born March 3, 1920 in Barn City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Cleo and Caroline Vandrimmelin Lowry. On November 12, 1939 she married Robert Willis Ralston in Burlington.

Mrs. Ralston taught school at Sperry and was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Albia High School and attended SEIACC and University of Iowa. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Kings Daughters, and the Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union. Her hobbies were sewing and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; three sons, Robert Ralston Jr. of Laguna Beach, CA, Ronald Ralston of Blue Lake, CA, and Randy Ralston of Burlington; one grandson; two brothers, Lyle Lowry of Fort Meyers, FL, and Cleo Lowry of Kansas City, KA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Adele.

Friends may call after 8:00 AM Monday, January 5, at the Hass Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:00 PM. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Ralston will be 1:00 PM Monday, January 5, in the Chapel of the Hass Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Dennis G. Tevis officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

John E. Rappenecker
July 26, 1923 - January 08, 2004
West Burlington, Iowa

Visitation: after 11:00 AM Sunday January 11, 2004 at the Hass Funeral Home until 7:00 PM. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM Sunday.
Mass of the Resurrection: 10:00 AM Monday January 12, 2004 at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington
Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery

John E. Rappenecker, 80, of West Burlington, died 10:20 AM Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington after a short illness.

Born July 26, 1923 in Burlington, he was the son of Edward and Catherine Wiedemeier Rappenecker. On August 5, 1950 married Barbara Jean Park in Burlington.

Mr. Rappenecker was an auto body repairman and painter for many years. He worked at General Electric for 27 years retiring in 1991. He was a 1941 graduate of St. Paul’s Catholic School. He was a U.S Army Air force Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church serving as an usher, was on the Parish Council, and volunteered for many church functions. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus #568 for over 60 years. He was also a member and the treasurer of General Electric Retirees Club and General Electric Quarter Century Club.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean; one son, David J. Rappenecker of Burlington; four daughters, Patricia Davis of West Burlington, Nancy Little of Burlington, Carol Easterbrook of Robertsville, MO, and Ann Newbold of O’Fallon, MO; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Bette Kern of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Visitation will begin after 11:00 AM Sunday, January 11, at the Hass Funeral Home until 7:00 PM. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM Sunday. The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Rappenecker will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 12, at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with the Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as celebrant. The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir will provide music. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery . A memorial has been established for SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church.

Alta Mary Corso
February 23, 1909 - January 28, 2004
Burlington, Iowa

Alta Mary Corso, 94, of Burlington, died at 5:53 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at the Great River Medical Center, Klein Center.

Born February 23, 1909 in Scotland County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Rilda Huntley Miller. She married Thomas J. Corso on January 5, 1931 in Burlington. He died May 4, 1970.

Mrs. Corso was a cook and waitress for Corso Café in downtown Burlington and Corso Donut Shop. She was also a cook for the YWCA Cafeteria. She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, and baking, and she loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Weigert of West Burlington; one son, John T. Corso of Burlington; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Archie Miller of Bloomfield, IA; one sister, Eula Ridge of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, five brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM Monday, February 2, at the Hass Funeral Home. There will be no family visitation. The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Corso will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 2, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery . A memorial has been established to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Anna Mae Kaltefleiter-Glidewell
October 07, 1944 - February 04, 2004
Mediapolis, Iowa

Visitation: Will begin after noon Sunday February 08, 2004 at the Hass Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM after which the family will receive friends until 5:00 PM.
Mass of the Resurrection: 10:30 AM Monday February 09, 2004 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point
Interment: Calvary Cemetery

Anna Mae Kaltefleiter-Glidewell, 59, of Mediapolis, died at 9:57 AM, Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born October 7, 1944 in West Point, IA she was the daughter of George and Helen Bohnenkamp Kaltefleiter.

She had worked at Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in West Point. She was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include one son, Brad Glidewell of Fort Madison; two brothers, James Kaltefleiter of Amarillo, TX and Carl Kaltefleiter of West Point; one sister, Lucille Samms of Prattville, AL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Paul and Patrick; and two sisters, Rosanna and Viola.

Visitation will be after noon Sunday, February 8, at the Hass Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM after which the family will receive friends until 5:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Kaltefleiter-Glidewell will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with the Rev. Father Apo T. Mpanda as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Church Funeral Choir. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery . A memorial has been established to the Mediapolis Care Facility.

Larry Allen Rollins,Sr.
February 14, 1946 - February 07, 2004
Burlington, Iowa

Visitation: Will begin after noon, Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at the Hass Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral Service: Will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at the Chapel of the Hass Funeral Home.
Interment: Aspen Grove Cemetery

Larry Allen Rollins, Sr., 57, of Burlington, died at 8:35 AM Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Burlington Care Center.

Born February 14, 1946 in Burlington, he was the son of Kenneth Steele and Marjorie Rollins. On May 21, 1966 in Burlington, he married Alice M. Rudy.

Mr. Rollins was a certified welder for J.I. Case Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He belonged to U.A.W. Local 807. He was an avid NY Yankees fan, loved nature, animals, and trains. He also loved music, having played bass guitar in a band.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; his father, Kenneth Steele of Burlington; his mother, Marjorie Robinson of Burlington; two sons, Larry Rollins, Jr. and Tim Paul Rollins, both of Burlington; one daughter, Michelle R. Rollins-Williams of Burlington; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; one brother, Lonnie Robinson of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one uncle.

Visitation will begin after noon Tuesday, February 10, at the Hass Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service for Mr. Rollins will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, in the Chapel of the Hass Funeral Home with Pastor Kendall Adams officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery . A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

John J. Gerber
March 24, 1930 - February 11, 2004
Burlington, Iowa

Visitation: Will begin after noon Friday, February 13, 2004 at the Hass Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
Mass of the Resurrection: 9:30 AM Saturday, February 14, 2004 at St. Paul's Catholic Church

John J. Gerber, 73, of Burlington, died at 9:52 AM, Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born March 24, 1930 in Burlington, he was the son of John C. and Minnie L. Peterson Gerber. On October 24, 1959, he married Lucia V. Tagliacozzo at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Burlington.

Mr. Gerber was a 1948 graduate of St. Paul Central High School and a 1950 graduate of Burlington Junior College. He also had further training in Industrial Engineering and Management. He was a supervisor at Sylvania. He later worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and many odd jobs after retirement, including jobs at St. John’s Catholic School. He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus #568. He also coached girls’ little league softball for several years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, he enjoyed computers, being on the river, and he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities.

Survivors include his wife, Lucia; one son, Robert Gerber of Burlington; two daughters, Maria Roth and Laura Fidler, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Sr. Mary James Orth, B.V.M. of Dubuque, Iowa and Maxine Mewes of Burlington; five nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by one infant son, his parents, and one brother.

Visitation will begin after noon Friday, February 13, at the Hass Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Gerber will be 9:30 AM Saturday, February, 14, 2004 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Monsignor John M. Hyland as celebrant and the Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as concelebrant. The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir will provide music. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery . A memorial has been established.

Ruth Jones, 84, of Lincolnshire, Illinois, died at 9:11 AM Friday, February 27, 2004, at Wealshire Nursing Home in Lincolnshire.

Born February 2, 1920 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Samuel and Rosa Brunner Schranz.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Jones will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery . The Hass Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
