Merle D. Ferguson, son of Carrie L. Grivey Ferguson and Alvah Mont Ferguson, was born in Dana, on Oct. 24, 1919. Merle was raised in the Dana area and graduated from Dana High School in 1939.

Leida Tilk, 82, of Fontanelle, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

Stephan A. Zenti, 41, of Atlantic, passed away suddenly on Saturday Dec. 4, 2004 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Carolyn Jean Ashby

Carolyn Jean Ashby, 79, of Mission, Texas, died Jan. 31, 2005 after several years of failing health.

Rodger L. Gebhardt

Rodger Leo Gebhardt, 55, of Atlantic, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Linda Lou (Auerbach) McCurdy

Linda Lou (Auerbach) McCurdy, the daughter of Lloyd Carl Frederick and Eleanor Ruth (Moller) Auerbach, was born July 3, 1947, in Atlantic, and passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at her home in Atlantic.

She grew up north of Lewis, and graduated from Griswold Community High School in 1965.

On Sept. 8, 1972, she was united in marriage with Patrick Francis McCurdy at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Bradford, Iowa. Together they raised their four children on the family farm southeast of Lyman. For 34 years they farmed together and she took care of the seed business until retiring in 2003. They then bought and managed the Walnut Hill Terrace Apartments in Atlantic.

She was a member of St. Timothy's (Reno) Catholic Church, and was an active member of the Alter Society, serving as Treasurer, Vice-President and President.

Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her most cherished memories came from the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her other hobbies included sewing, traveling and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.

Linda is survived by her husband, Pat McCurdy of Atlantic; her daughter, Sherry (Brian) Wall of of Atlantic; her sons, William ("Chris") Wilson of Glenwood, James (Connie) McCurdy of Iowa City, Timothy (Jen) McCurdy St. Louis, Mo., and John (Ann) McCurdy of Anita; her grandchildren, Ashlee Wall of Atlantic, Matthew and Joseph McCurdy of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary and Maggie McCurdy of Anita; her brothers, Lyle (Sharon) Auerbach of Roseville, Calif., and Dennis (Linda) Auerbach of Brentwood, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Marcia Goodman of Cedar Rapids, and Peg Brown of Lincoln, Neb.; her brother-in-law, Fred (Cheri) McCurdy of Delray Beach, Fla.; her uncle, Robert (Leona) Auerbach of Atlantic; her aunt, Beverly Moller of Omaha, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Eleanor Auerbach.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 27, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. Burial will be in St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery south of Cumberland.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 26, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, during the visitation.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in Linda's memory.

Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is in charge of arrangements.

Linda McCurdy, 61

Linda Lou McCurdy, 61, of Atlantic, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at her home in Atlantic.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 27, at Saints Peter &and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. Burial will be in St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery south of Cumberland.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 26, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, during the visitation.

Lucille M. Wiges, 88

Lucille M. Wiges, 88, of Audubon, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Hospice House in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin. Interment will be in the Hamlin Lutheran Cemetery . Family visitation will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 27 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Survivors include her children Linda Zinke of Omaha and Jon Wiges of Poway, Calif; her brothers: George Owen and Bernard and wife Bessie Owen, both of Audubon; and her sister-in-law: Elaine Owen of Audubon.

The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Mae Bakehouse

Shirley Mae Bakehouse, infant daughter of Tina Mae (Kneisel) Bakehouse and Jonathan Lisle Bakehouse, died at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha on April 14, 2009.

Shirley is survived by her parents, Jon and Tina Bakehouse of Hastings; maternal grandparents, Sandy and Doyle Kneisel of Griswold; paternal grandparents, Nancy and Bach Bakehouse of Hastings; great grandparents, Clair and Shirley Mattheis of Massena; aunts, Jeanne-Marie Bakehouse of Franktown, Colo. and Jodi Kneisel of New York, N.Y.; uncle, Adam Kneisel and wife Tammie of Omaha; other relatives and friends.

Gary D. Olsen - Age 56

Gary passed away at home on April 19, 2009.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clark and Harriett (Paulson) Olsen of Atlantic and survived by his wife, Pat, son Chad Olsen and wife, Gina; son Scott Olsen and fiancee, Jessica Van Vleet, all of Omaha, Gary's twin brother, Larry Olsen and wife Loretta of Atlantic, sister-in-law, Sharon Turner Meyer and her husband, Ken Meyer of Omaha, Grandchildren Madison and Gavin Olsen of Omaha and numerous cousins, nephews, niece and friends.

Gary was born on Jan. 28, 1953, in Omaha. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 1971. Gary married Patricia Newell on July 6, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Atlantic. Gary worked as a drywall finisher. In 1983, Gary became a service technician for Xerox in Omaha. Gary retired in 1994 due to muscular dystrophy. Gary enjoyed watching Nebraska Huskers, babysitting his grandchildren and playing cards with friends.

Visitation: Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel) Omaha.

Funeral: Thursday, 10 a.m. at the mortuary.

Burial: Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha,

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Max Frownfelter

Max W. Frownfelter, 92, of Mediapolis, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehab in Mediapolis. Arrangements are pending at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.

June Waddle

June Waddle, 92, of New London, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at New London Nursing & Rehab.

Born June 24, 1913, in Henry County, she was the daughter of John and May Detrick Henessee. On Dec. 8, 1934, she married Edwin R. Waddle in Burlington. He died Dec. 19, 1987.

Mrs. Waddle was a homemaker.

She was a graduate of New London High School and a member of New London United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Waddle of Danville and Dennis Waddle of Anamosa; eight grandchildren; 16 great–grandchildren; and one sister, Vera Phinney of New London.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, one son and one stepgrandson.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Waddle will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established for New London Nursing & Rehab Center.

Louise Wolf

Louise E. Wolf, 95, of Fort Madison, formerly of Keosauqua, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Fort Madison Health Center.

Born Nov. 17, 1910, in Van Buren County, she was the daughter of John Wesley Jr. and Martha Van Hyning Hughes. On June 20, 1933, she married Donald E. Wolf. He died in November 1952.

Mrs. Wolf and her husband owned and operated Moravia Telephone Co. She also worked as a saleswoman for Kessler's Ladies Store in Fort Madison.

She attended Bonaparte and Keosauqua schools. She attended the former Grace Baptist Church in Fort Madison. She lived in Keosauqua and Moravia when they owned the telephone company, moving to Fort Madison after her husband's death.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Wolf of Wever and Wayne Wolf of West Des Moines; six grandchildren and four great–grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, eight brothers and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service.

The funeral for Mrs. Wolf will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Memorials have been established for Purdom Cemetery and Joy Baptist Church in Fort Madison.

James Richardson

James K. Richardson, 84, of Burlington died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Arrangements are pending at Prugh Funeral Service.

Marvel Davis

Marvel A. Davis, 79, of Burlington died at 12:38 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Arrangements are pending at Hass–Thielen Funeral Home.

CARL SABINS

Funeral Services for Carl Dean Sabins, 50, of West Burlington will be held in Prugh's Chapel on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Charles Stevens will officiate. Interment will be in Iowaville Cemetery , Selma, Iowa. The family will receive friends in Prugh's Chapel this evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Esther V. Lyon

The funeral service for Mrs. Esther V. Lyon, 95, who died Saturday, March 11, 2006, will be Thursday, March 16th, at 1:30 PM in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Randall Gearhart will officiate. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery . Friends may call after 8:00 AM Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A memorial has been established.

Virginia "Ginny" R. Harris

The funeral service for Mrs. Virginia "Ginny" Ruth Harris, 84, who died Monday, March 13, 2006, will be Thursday, March 16th, at 10:30 AM in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Tyrone Henderson will officiate. Interment will be in Carman Cemetery , Carman, Illinois. Friends may call 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 15th, in Lunning Chapel and the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service on Thursday. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
