MOLINE -- Services for Theodore F. "Ted" Ladowski, of 3339 42nd Ave., formerly of Chicago, will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a wake at 3 p.m. Mr. Ladowski died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He retired in 1984 as a warehouse manager after 35 years at Kroger Foods, Chicago. He was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Chicago. He married Leona Blair in 1945 in Chicago. He died in 1990. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Kidney Foundation. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Martinez, East Moline; sons, Theodore Jr., Moline, Donald, Virginia Beach, Va., and Allan, Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Barney, of California, and Phil, of Florida.

Robert Primes
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Robert G. Primes, of Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 9-10 a.m. today at Dulaney-Vulich Funeral Home, Clinton. Mr. Primes died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He was employed more than 30 years as a switchman at Burlington Northern Railroad. He was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Clinton. He married Eliner Underdonk in 1949 in Clinton. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Carol Dauphin, Savanna, Ill., Shirley Jones, Crestline, Calif., Barbara Davis, Clinton, and Peggy Haught, Riverside, Calif.; a son, Joseph, Tyler, Texas; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion Coon, Clinton, Betty Brock, Veterburg, Ind., Florence Harrington, Sterling, Ill., and Marge Stevens, Clinton; and a brother, Don, Clinton.

Helen Vogt
BETTENDORF -- Helen L. Vogt, of Bettendorf, formerly of Belgrade, Neb., died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1999. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Palmer Funeral Home, Fullerton, Neb. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Vogt was employed more than 50 years in civil service at Rock Island Arsenal. She retired in 1996. Helen Ainlay was born Jan 15, 1909, at Belgrade. She married Merle Vogt in 1927 in Woodbine, Iowa. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Webster, Wood River, Neb.; a son, Thomas, Bartleville, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Al Olds
EAST MOLINE -- Albert C. "Al" Olds, formerly of East Moline, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at his home in Albuquerque, N.M. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at Bethel Baptist Church, Port Byron, Ill. Al retired as a power plant operator after 30 years at International Harvester, East Moline. He went on to own and operate his farm in Pomona, Mo., before settling in Albuquerque. Al was born May 22, 1924, in Fulton, Ill., to Ralph and Nellie (Jenkins) Olds. He first married Delma Jean Riewerts in 1947 in Port Byron. He married Peggy Townsend in 1985. His interests and accomplishments included building and remodeling homes, barbershop singing, hunting, fishing and traveling. He also was a licensed instrument flight instructor pilot. Survivors include his wife; his son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Judy Olds, East Moline; a daughter, Nancy Olds, Moline; his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Larry Curry, DeSoto, Texas; grandchildren, Blake and Candace Curry; a sister, Carol Carlson, Corvallis, Ore.; four nieces and nephews; a stepdaughter; five step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

Robert Behr
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. -- Robert E. Behr, of Englewood, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Robert Behr was born March 4, 1927, in Clinton, Iowa, to Karen Peterson and Charles C. Behr. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Carole Behr, Moline, and Bonnie and Michael Espey, Clinton; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert R. Behr, Chicago, and David and Lisa Behr, Winchester, Va.; grandchildren, Nathan, Melissa and Joseph Behr, Winchester, Va., Amy and Connie Chapman, Moline, and Michael and Matthew Espey, Clinton.

John Sparks
MOLINE -- Services for John E. Sparks, of Moline, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military services by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Sparks died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Iowa City. He was widely known as a mechanic for 45 years in the Quad-Cities. He worked most recently at Bakers' Dairy, Moline. He was born June 28, 1933, in Urbana, Ill. He married Faith Sones in 1971 in Rock Island. He had served in the Navy. Memorials may be made to Leukemia Foundation. Survivors include his wife; a son, Neil, stationed in Florida; daughters, Crystal Alcairo, Palm Bay, Fla., and Kim Sparks, of Florida; 13 grandchildren; his mother, Margaret March, Las Cruces, N.M.; sisters, Dolores Shilling, East Moline, and Judith Rice, Hot Springs, S.D.; brothers, Gary Sparks, Las Cruces, and William Case, Spokane, Wash.; and stepchildren, Melody Spence, East Moline, Shawn Sones, of California, and Erin Hurd, Shortsville, N.Y.

Viola Kelley
MOLINE -- Services for Viola R. "Squeaky" Kelley, of Moline, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kelley died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill. She had farmed and was employed as a grinder for 20 years at John Deere Malleable Works, East Moline. Viola Springer was born March 12, 1917, in Greensboro, Ga. She married Joseph "Cocamo" Kelley in 1942 in Rock Island County. He died in 1981. Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Randy, Moline; a grandchild; and a brother, Wiley Ross, East Moline.

Anna Isacson
ROCK ISLAND -- Memorial services for Anna I. Isacson, of Rock Island, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. No visitation will be held. Private burial will be Wednesday at Rosehill Cemetery , Chicago. Mrs. Isacson died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at her home. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Anna Olson was born June 11, 1905, in Smoland, Sweden. She married Karl Isacson in 1937 in Chicago. He died in 1972. Memorials may be made to Intouch Day Care for Older Adults. Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Smith, Rock Island, with whom she resided; three grandchildren; and a sister, Hilma Olson, Smoland.

Lillie Shelby
DAVENPORT -- Services for Lillie M. Shelby, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Mrs. Shelby died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at her home. She was a homemaker. Lillie Frison was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Shuqulak, Miss., to Sam and Josephine (Allen) Frison. She married Joe W. Shelby in Scott County. She was a member of Mount Olive Church of God in Christ, Davenport, where she had been president of the Ushers Club. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and sewing. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Janine Clark, Sonya Henderson, Brenda Shelby and Sherry Shelby, all of Davenport, Trena Worthey, Jackson, Mich., and Shelly Offutt, Moline; sons, Rodney, James and Barry, all of Davenport, and Dyrell, Chapel Hill, N.C.; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a loving sister-in-law, Missionary Helen Frison; special friends, Sister Mary Joyner and Mother Julia Howard; and adopted daughter, Faye Hanley, Davenport. She was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Durrah; and a brother, the Rev. William H. Frison Sr.

Howard Peterson
MOLINE -- Services for Howard E. Peterson, of East Moline, formerly of Moline, will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park, with military services by American Legion Post 246, Moline. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Mr. Peterson died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. He was employed 30 years at the U.S. Postal Service in Moline. He had been vehicle operations clerk for 18 years. He was born March 3, 1916, in Moline. He married Inez Westerdahl in 1942 in Moline. She died in 1989. He married Doris "Colly" Collier Eyre in 1994 in Moline. During World War II, he served in the Army with the John Deere Battalion. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Christine Green, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; a son, David H., Arlington, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Sidney Tennant
ORION, Ill. -- Services for Sidney E. Tennant, of 1407 12th Ave., will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Orion United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery , Orion, with military services by American Legion Post, Orion. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Mr. Tennant died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. He was the founder in 1946 of Tennant Truck Lines, a 50-year one-family business. Tennants own and operate 18 semi-tractors and 75 trailers. He was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Geneseo. He married Arlene Engstrom in 1948 in Orion. During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps. He was a heavy equipment operator for 30 months in the South Pacific. Memorials may be made to Illinois Heart Association or the church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Beth Schoellermann, Colona; sons, Michael, Racine, Wis., and Dean and Robert, both of Orion; and 10 grandchildren.

Leonard Johnson
LONGVIEW, Texas -- Services and burial for Leonard E. Johnson, of Longview, will be Wednesday in Longview. Visitation is today at Rader Funeral Home, Longview. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, after a long battle with cancer. He retired after 34 years at Natural Gas Pipeline Co. in Illinois and Texas. He was born July 20, 1923, in Geneseo, Ill. He married Lois Shaw in 1950 in Green River, Ill. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Jan Crawford, Alexandria, Va., and Beth Merrill, Littleton, Colo.; a son, Scott, Dallas; a granddaughter; sisters, Helen Johnson and Lauretta Young, both of Geneseo; and a brother, R. Carrol, Belle Plaine, Iowa.

Marjorie Thomas
CLINTON, Iowa -- Marjorie M. Thomas, of the Alverno Health Care Facility, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at the care facility. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , Camanche. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the church. Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. She was employed as an elementary teacher and principal in Clinton schools. Marjorie Mayer was born Feb. 25, 1913, in Lyons. She married Marvin Thomas in 1947 in Clinton. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jane Harding, Clinton; sons, Dr. David, Marshalltown, John, Camanche, and Paul, Eldora; 25 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; sisters, Donna Stelling, Greenville, S.C., and Claire Kallenbach, Port Clinton, Ohio; and brothers, Alan Mayer, Clinton, and Richard Mayer, Peoria, Ill.

Ernest Bobek
CLINTON, Iowa -- Ernest F. Bobek, of 3412 Cleveland St., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his home. Private memorial services will be held at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. No visitation will be held. Mr. Bobek was employed as a manager at Goodman's Jewelry Store, Clinton, and as a sales associate in advertising at the Clinton Herald. He retired in 1982. He was born July 28, 1923, in Mason City. He married Marjorie Smith in 1947 in Mason City. During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps with the 2nd Division 1st Platoon on Guadalcanal. Memorials may be made to Hospice VNA, Clinton. Survivors include his wife; sons, Stephen, Coralville, William, Toronto, Canada, and Jeffrey, Barrington; a stepson, Woodrow Kline, Chillicothe, Mo.; two grandsons; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Blanche Vician, Placerville, Calif., and Emily Byl, Mason City.
