Pamela Ann Clark
DAVENPORT -- Pamela Ann Clark died Oct. 11, at the University of Iowa Hospital, after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Fern Long, and her beloved grandparents. She is survived in death by her husband, the Rev. Jim Clark; her son, Christopher W. Clark and his wife Samantha, Davenport; a daughter, Dr. Deborah Clark-Holke and her husband Nicholas, Iowa City; and a granddaughter, Lauren Ann Clark-Holke. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Pamela was born Feb. 5, 1947, in Hazelton, Pa. She was baptized into the Reformed Family of Faith. She moved with her family to Newark, N.J., where she went to school and secretarial school. Pamela worked at Chase Department Stores before marrying her sweetheart, Jim, a middler at Princeton Theological Seminary. Jim and Pam served Presbyterian congregations at Elbow and Ashley, Minn.; Burlington, Iowa; and St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Always the friend of those celebrating the joys and sorrows of life, she sang at church, helped welcome newborns, comforted others in sickness and death, young people growing up and a lot of other ministries. Pam was employed for many years as a child care advocate and as a customer care supervisor at Marshall Department Store. She loved the outdoors and all creatures great and small.

Julia Hartman
REYNOLDS, Ill. -- Services for Julia A. Hartman, of Reynolds, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Family Funeral Services, Reynolds. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. by Andalusia OES Chapter 617. Mrs. Hartman died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. She was employed as a registered nurse and head nurse in the labor and delivery rooms for 25 years at the former Moline Lutheran Hospital. Julia Pearson was born July 4, 1911, in Cable. She married Raymond Hartman in 1936 in Rock Island. He died in 1954. Memorials may be made to Reynolds United Methodist Church. Survivors include daughters, Myrna Matlick and Sharon Mueller, both of Reynolds; and nine grandchildren.

David Brown
NEW BOSTON, Ill. -- Services for David N. "Deke" Brown, of New Boston, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is noon to service time. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery . Mr. Brown died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Lynncrest Manor Nursing Home, Aledo. He was employed many years as a construction laborer. He was born March 3, 1936, in Keithsburg. He married Peggy Russell in 1981 in Aledo. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Paula Brown, New Boston; sons, David A., Hudson, Wyo., and Jackie, New Boston; sisters, Ruth Dennison, Donna Sedam, Peanuts Vandevort and Jerry Nylin, all of Keithsburg, and Shirley Litwiler, Janet Hill, Connie Freeman and Marsha Loving, all of Aledo.

Pauline Feldner
MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Services and entombment for Pauline M. Feldner, of Maquoketa, formerly of Rhine Center, Wis., will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Garden of Peace Mausoleum, Sheboygan, Wis. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Mrs. Feldner died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Manor Care, Dubuque. She was a homemaker. Pauline Huff was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Ossco, Mich. She married Arnold Feldner in 1966 in Hawk Junction, Canada. He preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to Pauline M. Feldner Memorial Fund. Survivors include 10 grandchildren, including Linda (Mrs. Craig) Jackson, Maquoketa, with whom she resided; daughters, Betty Durkee, Tecumseh, Mich., and Sherry Sokol, Maquoketa; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Kenneth Shippy, Welco, Texas.

Leslie Peters
MESA, Ariz. -- Leslie K. Peters, of Mesa, formerly of Marion and Spragueville, Iowa, died Oct. 5, 1999. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Chapel of Prayer, 108 N. 56th St., Mesa, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Peters was employed as a laborer at an aluminum plant. He was born in Jackson County, Iowa. Survivors include a sister, Patricia Rose.

George Riggs
EAST MOLINE -- Services for George E. Riggs, of East Moline, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Riggs died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. He was employed as an abrasive tool technician for more than 44 years at the Rock Island Arsenal. He retired in 1990. He was born March 25, 1921, in Lucas County, Iowa, to Lester and Sarah "Geneva" (Riddle) Riggs. He married Jane Popp on June 25, 1949, in Rock Island. During World War II, he served as an Army staff sergeant. He was a member of Silvis Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. Memorials may be made to Hampton Methodist Church, where he was a member. Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and David Millen, Bloomington, Ind., and Connie and Frank Manning, Colona, Ill.; granddaughters, Kristen Millen, Laura Millen and Brandy Manning; sisters, Eunice Campbell, Anoka, Minn., and Marie Heeren, Colona; and a brother, John Riggs, Orion, Ill. He was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Neal Riggs.

Hans Fuessel
ROCK ISLAND -- Hans J. Fuessel, of Rock Island, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Private family services will be Wednesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. The Rev. Don Gibson will officiate. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Mr. Fuessel was employed 28 years at the former Robbins Electric Co., Moline. He retired in 1980 from Davenport Electric Co. He was born May 2, 1915, in Chicago, to Frederick and Marie (Jaeger) Fuessel. He married Levora O. Augustine on June 20, 1936, in Wheaton, Ill. He was a 55-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 145; a former member of Belgian American Brotherhood, Rock Island; and a member of Friends Circle Club, Moline. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, Rolle Bolle and watching the Chicago Cubs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy (Fuessel) Harvey, Rock Island; sons, Frederick Dennis and spouse Diana, Bettendorf, and Stephen C. and spouse Terri, Moline; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a son.

Helen Gardner
DAVENPORT -- Services for Helen M. Gardner, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery , Davenport. Mrs. Gardner died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. She retired in 1983 from the U.S. Government. She had worked at Defense Logistics Department, Battle Creek, Mich., and earlier at Rock Island Arsenal. Helen Goslowski was born May 14, 1921, in Davenport. She married Willard Gardner in 1938 in Davenport. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Newcomb Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Survivors include a son, David, Blue Grass, Iowa; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson; a sister, Kay Behr, DeWitt, Iowa; and brothers, Fred Goslowski, LaHabria, Calif. , George Goslowski, Stockton, Calif., and Walter Goslowski, Sevierville, Tenn.

William Peterson
FOREST, Va. -- Services for Ronald William "Bill" Peterson, of Forest, will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Diuguid Waterlick Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Mr. Peterson died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He retired from the Navy as a master chief petty officer after serving 21 years. He had served on the submarines Madison, Guitaro and Wahoo. He was employed most recently as a quality assurance specialist at Framatome. He was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Moline, to Oscar A. and Jeannette (Anderson) Peterson. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Survivors include his wife, Josephine (Quintana) Peterson; daughters, Jo Lynn Peterson and Jeannette Peterson, both of Clearwater, Fla.; grandchildren, Genna Bigger, Tristan Peterson and Brittany Jackson, all of Clearwater; a sister, Eilene and her husband, Ron Peterson, Andover, Ill.; a brother, Mel Peterson and his wife, Betty, Moline; and an aunt, Eleanor Anderson, Davenport.

Janet La Grange
DAVENPORT -- Services for Janet La Grange, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Ms. La Grange died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at her home. She retired from Crescent Baking Co., Davenport, and formerly was a child care provider in her home. She was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Davenport, to LeRoy William and Viola Marie (Heiser) LaGrange. She had attended Marycrest College, Davenport. Her interests included flower gardening and her plants. She had a special fondness and love for her mother and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include her mother; a sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Merle Wiese, Eldridge, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, John Robert and Maxine La Grange, Bettendorf; a niece, Lisa Wiese, Springfield, Mo.; nephews, William Wiese, Davenport, and Tim Wiese, DeWitt, Iowa; and aunts and cousins. Her father preceded her in death.

LaDean Pope
MOLINE -- LaDean F. Pope, of 535 26th Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. The Rev. Ed Kuriscak will officiate. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Mrs. Pope was a homemaker. LaDean Ballard was born April 22, 1917, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to James and Jessie (Gilchrist) Ballard. She married Fred L. Pope on May 26, 1988, in Moline. She had married Leonard Kent in 1936, Ray Fick and, in October 1980, Grady Curry. Mr. Curry died in 1983. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She enjoyed dining out at different restaurants. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Deanna Kent, Rock Island, and Danny L. and Vicky Kent, Chiefland, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jean Schneider
DAVENPORT -- Services for Jean E. Schneider, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Schneider died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at her home, after an extended illness. She had operated a catering service. Jean Linville was born June 19, 1921, in Wapello, Iowa. She married Kenneth Schneider in 1945 in Nashua, Iowa. He died in 1992. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a brother, Max Linville, Davenport.

Lillian Gleason
MOLINE -- Lillian J. Gleason, of Sherrard, Ill., formerly of Moline, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Hays & Hays Residential Manor, Sherrard. Services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , East Moline. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 2 p.m. by the Altar Society. A public rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Gleason retired in 1972 after 33 years in the accounting department at Ametek, East Moline. Before that, she worked at Northwestern Steel, Sterling, Ill. Lillian Pulford was born April 13, 1909, in Chicago. She married Francis Gleason in 1936 in Moline. He died in 1963. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a son, Charles, Sherrard; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Art Pulford, Rock Falls, Ill.

Russell Renner
BETTENDORF -- Services for Russell W. Renner, of Bettendorf, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mr. Renner died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He was employed 45 years at Alcoa as an electrical supervisor until his retirement in December 1994. He was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Hannibal, Mo., to Charles and Elsie (Lawson) Renner. He married Shirley Jean Hayes on June 11, 1950, in Hannibal, Mo. Russell served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Fraternal Lodge 221 , Mohassan Grotto, Alcoa Retirees Club and Bettendorf Swim Club as Grandpa Ian. He also was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lori Renner, Bettendorf; a grandson, Ian Renner-Arjes, Iowa City; a sister, Lois Tinklenberg, Mesa, Ariz.; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Anice, Hannibal; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Reed
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Mary Reed, of 2545 24th St., formerly of East Moline, will be 1:30 p.m. today at Carbon Cliff, Ill., Cemetery . Miss Reed died Oct. 7, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Hodgson Funeral Home, Ltd., Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements. She did baby-sitting at one time. She born June 14, 1913, in Bennett, Iowa. There are no known survivors.

James Parks
EAST MOLINE -- Memorial services for James Hays Parks, of East Moline, will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline. Mr. Parks died Oct. 5, 1999, at his home. Additional services and burial will be held in Topeka, Kan. Bowser-Johnson Funeral Home, Topeka, is in charge of arrangements. He was a widely known singer and musician. He was employed most recently as a music consultant at Rockridge High School, Taylor Ridge, Ill., and director of music at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline. He also was director of Men's Voices in Harmony Choral. Mr. Parks had served as minister of music at Trinity Episcopal Church, Rock Island, and St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island. He also had been an associate professor at Black Hawk College, Moline; had taught voice at Augustana College, Rock Island; had been director of choral activities at Western Illinois University, Macomb; and had been a member of faculty at VanderCook College of Music, Chicago. He was director or music director of many theatrical and musical productions at Playcrafters, Quad-City Music Guild and Genesius Guild. He also was a frequent clinician, guest conductor and lecturer for colleges, high schools and music festivals, and was a published composer and arranger. He was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Topeka. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church music department or Rockridge High School choral department. Survivors include his mother, Julia Parks, Topeka.

Alfons Veryzer
HILLSDALE, Ill. -- Alfons M. "Al" Veryzer, of Hillsdale, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, Rapids City. Burial will be in Mount Maria Cemetery , Hillsdale. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today with a rosary at 5 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Mr. Veryzer retired in 1983 from John Deere Harvester, East Moline. He was born April 28, 1925, in East Moline. He married Shirley DeCapp in 1959 in East Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife; a son, Curtis, Hillsdale; two grandsons; two step-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Dinneweth and Valentine McCandles, both of East Moline; and a brother, Joe, Colona.
