DAVENPORT -- Virgil F. "Stoney" Rogers, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Family memorial services will be later. The body was cremated. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rogers was a self-employed tree trimmer and roofer throughout the area. He was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Missouri. He had served in the Army. Survivors include a sister, Marcella Brady, Davenport; and a brother, Ronald Brady, Blue Grass, Iowa.

Leone Ray
DAVENPORT -- Leone M. "Lee" Ray, of Davenport, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Davenport. No public services are being planned. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. She worked many years as a cashier at Eagle Food Centers. She retired in 1986. Leone Merry was born June 19, 1918, in Davenport. She married Robert Cribbs in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Genesis Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Care. Survivors include a daughter, Karen K. Jackson, Davenport; a granddaughter; and a brother, Glenn Merry, Davenport. He was preceded in death by a son, William Cribbs, in 1998.

ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Jill Carrell, of Bronx, N.Y., formerly of Rock Island, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Miss Carrell died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. She was employed more than 30 years as a nurse's aide at St. Patrick's Home for the Aged, Bronx. She was born Jan. 13, 1947, in Perks, Ill. Survivors include her mother, Imogene Carrell, Rock Island; sisters, Shirley Smith and Saundra Teague, both of Rock Island, and Wilma Harris, Bronx, and Merlyn Wright, Aurora, Colo.; and brothers, Curtis Carrell, East Moline, Douglas Carrell Jr., Virginia Beach, Va., Michael Carrell, Conyers, Ga., and Gil Carrell, Rock Island.

LaRue Scanlan
ROCK ISLAND -- E. LaRue "Tiny" Scanlan, of Rock Island, formerly of Port Byron, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Scanlan was employed at the former East Moline State Hospital. She retired in 1974. She also had worked at Aspenwood Care Center, Silvis, Ill. LaRue Williams was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Drakesville, Iowa. She married Carroll Scanlan in 1941 in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1974. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Stickel, Rock Island; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Delpha Copeland, East Moline; and a brother, Lloyd Williams, Moline.

Elmer Brown
BUCKEYE, Ariz. -- Services for Elmer S. Brown, of Buckeye, formerly of Davenport and Rock Island, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Community Church, Buckeye. Burial will be in Louis B. Hazelion Memorial Park. Mr. Brown died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, in Buckeye. He was employed as a carpenter at John Long Co. He was born April 25, 1912, in Adair County, Iowa. He married Eula Pierce in 1933 in Randalia, Iowa. She died in 1995. Survivors include daughters, Arliss Merman, Pleasant Valley, Donna Eastman, Buckeye, and Kay Long, Medina, Texas; sons, Keith, Dallas, and DeWayne, Gilmer, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert C., Fayette, Iowa.

Russell Wallace
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Russell B. Wallace, of Albuquerque, formerly of East Moline, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, in Albuquerque. Services were held at Fairview Memorial Park, Albuquerque. Mr. Wallace retired from the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co. He was a World War II veteran. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Wallace; a daughter, Karleen Walters, London; four grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Miriam Holder, and brothers, Jack and Wayne, all of Davenport, and Max, of North Carolina.

Lewis Ray
EAST MOLINE -- Lewis L. "Joe" Ray, of East Moline, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, Ill. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Mr. Ray retired in 1979 as a repairman after 30 years at International Harvester, East Moline. He was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Centerville, Iowa. He married Ramona Whitmore in 1947 in Centerville. During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cheryl Harkness, Colona, Ill.; sons, Bryon "Joe," Woodhull, Ill., Dave, Milan, Ill., and Mike, Carbon Cliff, Ill.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Charles Dasso
TAYLOR RIDGE, Ill. -- Services for Charles J. Dasso, of 9511 Turkey Hollow Road, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. Private burial will be Monday in Calvary Cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, with a rosary at 5 p.m. Mr. Dasso died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He owned and operated Dasso Gardens for 60 years. He retired in 1976. He was born April 3, 1912, in Rock Island. He married Helen Hill in 1936 in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the church or Juvenile Diabetes Association. Survivors include his wife; sons, Fred, Rock Island, and Thomas J., Taylor Ridge; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Clara Whitton, Milan, Ill., Winifred McGee, Culver City, Calif., and Bonnie Brosman, Los Angeles.

Delcie Hoffman
MOLINE -- Delcie I. Hoffman, of Miami Lakes, Fla., formerly of Moline, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Palmetto General Hospital, Miami. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Private services and burial will be held at Moline Memorial Park. Delcie Neuenschwander was born July 24, 1910, in Livingston, Ill. She married Donald Hoffman in 1919 in Moline. He died in 1973. Survivors include sons, Donald M., Milton, Fla., and Charles B., with whom she resided; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Clarice Kradle
MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. -- Services for Clarice D. Kradle, of Mount Carroll, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery , Mount Carroll. Visitation is 1-3 p.m. today at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Mrs. Kradle died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Freeport Memorial Hospital. She was employed many years as a waitress at Sievert's Tavern, Mount Carroll. She also had worked at Metro Rubber, Argo Fay, and Elkay Manufacturing, Lanark. Clarice Hoover was born Sept. 5, 1940, in Stoughton, Wis. She married Keith Kradle in 1958 in Mount Carroll. He died in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Offill, Scales Mound; sons, Rocky, Mount Carroll, Dean, Lanark, and Scott, Sabula; four grandchildren; a sister, Debbie Ellis, Hiawatha, Kan.; and a brother, Les Hoover, Racine, Wis.

Margaret Bermel
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Margaret Bermel, of 113 East Fourth St., will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine, with a rosary prayer service at 6 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Mrs. Bermel died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine. Margaret Connell was born Aug. 29, 1908, in Muscatine. She married Raymond Bermel in 1933 in Muscatine. Survivors include sons, John and Pete, both of Muscatine; six grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Connell, Muscatine.

Earl Deahr
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Earl Deahr, of 1454 Devitt Ave., will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Deahr died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine. He was a retired justice of the peace and had farmed in the Muscatine Island area. He was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Muscatine. He married Lilly Yedlik in 1939 in Lone Tree. She died in 1994. Memorials may be made to Earl Deahr Memorial Fund. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Phillips, Wilton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

Donna Murphy
KEWANEE, Ill. -- Donna R. Murphy, of 835 W. 6th St., died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at her home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was employed several years as a laborer at Harper-Wyman, Princeton. Donna Osborne was born June 6, 1936, in East Moline. She married LaVerne Murphy in 1953 in Kewanee. He died in 1994. Memorials may be made to Kewanee Hospital Hospice. Survivors include daughters, Donna Murphy and Diana Nordeen, and sons, Terry and Leslie, all of Kewanee; six grandchildren; a sister, Lela Pompa, East Moline; and brothers, Donald Osborne, Waterloo, Iowa, and Stanon Osborne, Murphys, Calif.

Thomas Bonny
KEITHSBURG, Ill. -- Services for Thomas E. Bonny of Kewanee, formerly of Keithsburg, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery , Keithsburg. Mr. Bonny died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Kewanee Public Hospital. Family Funeral Services, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements. He was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Mercer County. There are no immediate survivors.

Esther Hoffmann
CLINTON, Iowa -- Esther M. Hoffmann, of 917 Buell Ave., died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, and one hour before the service Tuesday at the church. Miss Hoffmann was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary at Clinton Engineering Co. She was born March 28, 1910, in Clinton. Survivors include cousins.

Colleen Johnson
ANDOVER, Ill. -- Colleen R. Johnson, of Andover, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover. The body was cremated. Burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Andover Cemetery . Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services Inc. Mrs. Johnson worked 10 years at Woodhull Plaza. Colleen Ehret was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Burlington, Iowa. She married Curtis Johnson in 1941 in Moline. They farmed in rural Cambridge and then in the Lynn Center area. They also managed Advent Garden Retirement Center, Boca Raton, Fla. He died in 1989. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Charlson, Andover; a son, Stephen, Valrico, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Koerper
GENESEO, Ill. -- Services for Dorothy Koerper, of Geneseo, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo. Burial will be in North Cemetery , Geneseo. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services Inc., Geneseo. Mrs. Koerper died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. She taught school for six years in Sherrard. She also worked several years at Baker Cafe and the Deck Restaurant. Dorothy Zwicker was born June 14, 1914, in Preemption Township, Mercer County. She married George Koerper in 1941 in Preemption. They farmed northwest of Mendota for 21 years. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or a favorite charity. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Marjorie Kane, Crofton, Md., and Doris Cherry, Evansville, Ind.; a son, Marvin, Naperville; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Helen Lindemann, Orlando, Fla.; and a brother, Harold Zwicker, Preemption.

Dorothy Raap
TIPTON, Iowa -- Dorothy E. Raap, of Tipton, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery , Tipton. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. She worked in housekeeping at St. Ambrose University for 22 years. Dorothy Kleppe was born Aug. 15, 1919, north of Tipton. She married William Raap in 1940 in Davenport. He died in 1985. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include daughters, Norma Aikman and Phyllis Hajek, both of Tipton; two sisters, six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

KEWANEE, Ill. -- Services for Vera L. Partridge, of Kewanee, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wethersfield Cemetery , Kewanee. She was a teacher at Indian Creek Country School. Vera Schmidt was born Sept. 3, 1907, in Kewanee. She married Kenneth Partridge in 1931 in Urbana. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Anne Johnson, Jackson, Mich., and Peggy Strathmann, Lansing, Mich., seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
