BENNETT, Iowa -- Services for Leona H. Wilkins, of Bennett, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Peace Church of Christ United, Bennett. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery , Bennett. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Mrs. Wilkins died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at her home. She was a homemaker. Leona Williams was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Clinton. She married Robert Wilkins Sr. in 1948 in Davenport. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Wendy Smith, Bettendorf; sons, Michael and Robert Wilkins, both of Bennett; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Gordon, Moline.

Michael Manos
DAVENPORT -- Services for Michael Manos, of Davenport, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Nativity, Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Behr's Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque. Mr. Manos died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Grandview Terrace Nursing Home, Davenport. He was born July 7, 1934, in Dubuque. He married Bette L. Ney Wood at Holy Ghost Church, Dubuque. She died May 6, 1999. He was employed at Flexsteel Industries, Dubuque, for 30 years. Memorials may be made to Grandview Terrace Nursing Home, 4760 Rockingham Road, Davenport, or the Beacon of Hope Hospice, 3901 Marquette St., Suite 2A, Davenport. Survivors include daughters, Jackie J. "Cookie" VanBarriger, Rockford, Ill., Julie A. Nordstrom, Thornton, Ill., and Susan K. Martino, Woodstock, Ill.; sons, Steve J. Dobbins, Matherville, Ill., and Danny E. Wood, Darien, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jan M. Hirsch and Stephanie Manos, both of Dubuque, and Kay A. Manos, Stacyville, Iowa.

Florence Boldt
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Florence A. Boldt, of Muscatine, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Boldt died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Lutheran Homes. Florence Andresen was born May 8, 1902, in Muscatine. She married Elmer H. Boldt in 1920 in Muscatine. He died in 1965. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Lutheran Homes. Survivors include a daughter, Julianne Price, Kimberly City, Mo.; a son, Richard, Wilton, Iowa; a foster daughter, Corinne Holliday, Muscatine; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

David Ward
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for David W. Ward, of Rock Island, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. There will be a private burial. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fri-day at the funeral home. Mr. Ward died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He was employed by John Deere. He was born Dec. 27, 1946, in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Genesis-West Oncology. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David and Christine Ward, LeClaire, Iowa, and Scott and Angie Ward, Bettendorf; sons, Chad, Ames, Iowa, and Jason, Cedar Falls, Iowa; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Dale Timm, Milan, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Randy VanAlstine, Carrollton, Texas; his father, Burdette Ward; and a grandson, Seth Ward. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Ward.

Treva Smith
MOLINE -- Treva L. Smith, formerly of Moline, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, Ill. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery , Matherville, Ill. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Treva Link was born Aug. 20, 1912, in Peoria, Ill. She married Martin Smith in 1932 in Peoria. He died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Coutteau, Moline; a son, Melvin, Moline; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Hilda Fleischman
MOLINE -- Services for Hilda C. Fleischman, of Moline, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Fleischman died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at her home. Hilda Boens was born March 12, 1906, in Wingene, Belgium, to Adolf and Clemence Verkest Boens. She came to the United States and to Rock Island with her family in 1913. She married Leo A. Fleischman on June 26, 1935, in Milan, Ill. He died April 15, 1988. She was employed in the home of Devore and Alice Ficke Simonson, Rock Island, for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Moline, and its Altar Society; a charter member of St. Ambrose Church, Milan, and its Altar and Rosary Society; Hauberg Senior Citizens; 500 Club; and the Center for Belgian Culture, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Moline; St. Mary's Church, East Moline; Center for Belgian Culture, Moline; or for spinal cord injury research. She enjoyed knitting and music. As a young girl, she knitted sweaters for the soldiers during World War I. Survivors include daughters, Therese (Mrs. Paul) St. Ledger, East Moline, and Mary K. (Mrs. Lawrence) Lorensen, Moline; grandchildren, Suzanne Brocka, Jean Chumbley, Jane Morrissey, Stephen St. Ledger and Julie Brewer; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Katlin Chumbley; Zachary, Ethan and Spenser Morrissey; Melinda and Bennett Brocka; and Delaney and Arden Brewer. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Heidi Epkes
BETTENDORF -- Heidi Ellen Epkes, of Corona, Calif., formerly of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at home, following a sudden illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McGinnis, Chambers and Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be private. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. She was born Nov. 19, 1969, in Davenport, to Fred W. and Ellen K. (Roehricht) Epkes. She received her undergraduate education at Pacific Christian College, Fullerton, Calif., and her master's degree from Cal State, also in Fullerton. She was employed as a psychologist, specializing in adolescent care, for Charlie Family Services, Riverside, County, Calif. Among the things she enjoyed were reading, listening to good music, going shopping and the companionship and love of her family. One of the special joys of her life was serving as a foster parent. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include foster daughters, Sheri and Rachel, both of Corona; her mother, Ellen, Bettendorf; a sister, Renate Lee, Bettendorf; brothers, Randall, Long Grove, Iowa, Timothy, Walkersville, Md., and Gregory, Anchorage, Alaska; her grandmother, Katia Roehricht, in Germany; and 10 beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred, in 1986.

Martin Suhr
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Martin F. Suhr, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Cemetery , East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Suhr died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, Ill. He was born Dec. 13, 1915, in Utica, Neb., to Carl and Botilla (Peterson) Suhr. He married Anne E. DeDoncker on Jan. 27, 1940, in Davenport. She died Oct. 9, 1995. Mr. Suhr was employed for more than 34 years at John Deere Foundry, East Moline, retiring in 1974. He enjoyed playing rolle bolle and taking day trips. Memorials may be made to Illini Restorative Care Center. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Phyllis Suhr, Coal Valley, Ill.; grandchildren and spouse, Kenneth Suhr, Milan, Leroy Suhr, East Moline, Karen Parrish, Moline, and Carl and Dawn Suhr, Milan; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Tonniges, York, Neb., and Mathilde Wiemer, Waco, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Esther Suhr, Milwaukee, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Carl.

Willie Mae McCraw
SILVIS, Ill. -- Willie Mae McCraw, of Silvis, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Burial will be in Hampton Township Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 1-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. McCraw was employed at Aramark Uniform Co., retiring in 1993 after 18 years. Willie Guyton was born Nov. 3, 1936, in Millport, Ala. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include daughters, Judy Mount, Bettendorf, and Drucilla Bertram, Coal Valley; a son, Rodney, Milan; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth O'Mary, Carbon Cliff; and a sister-in-law, Virgina Guyton, Geneseo.

LaVerne Gillpatrick
CLINTON, Iowa -- LaVerne G. "Jonnie" Gillpatrick, of 1001 College Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Church of the Visitation, Camanche. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Schmitz Funeral Home, Clinton, with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Mrs. Gillpatrick was employed at Lyons Shoe Store, and the former Arlen's, both in Clinton. She had also worked for 12 years at General Electric, Clinton. LaVerne Johnson was born March 18, 1926, in Clinton. She married Richard Gillpatrick in 1952 in Iowa City. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Nancy Gillpatrick Pepper, Columbia, S.C., and Nina Rogis, Nevada, Iowa; two grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Jordan, Clinton; and a brother, Vernon "Lewis" Johnson, Clinton.

Madelyn Ridenour
WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- Services for Madelyn L. Ridenour, of West Liberty, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, West Liberty. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery , West Liberty. Visitation is 6-8:30 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty. Mrs. Ridenour died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty. She and her husband were farmers for many years. Madelyn Oostendorp was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Muscatine. She married Forrest Ridenour in 1940 in Nichols. He preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or Iowa City Hospitals. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Reedy, Camdenton, Mo.; sons, Fred, Houston, Texas, and Patrick and Mike, both of Iowa City; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Beulah Styck, Lone Tree, and Margaret Lindle, McCausland; and a brother, Bernard Oostendorp.

Steven Trowbridge
DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Steven Trowbridge, of Hazel Green, Wis., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Kimlar, Wis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, with a 4 p.m. parish scripture service. Mr. Trowbridge worked as a machinist for the past 13 years at Georgia-Pacific. He was born Nov. 22, 1952, in Primghar. He married Hatsumi "Lin" Shinzoto in 1979 in Okinawa, Japan. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Air Force. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, Gordon and Mary Lou, Kieler, of Wisconsin; a sister, Kathy Schultz, Long Grove; brothers, Michael, Hazel Green, and Gary, Kieler; stepchildren, Maria Sweeney, Washington, Pa., and John Fair, Lawton, Okla.; and three step-grandchildren.

Elmer Schaefer
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Elmer C. Schaefer, of rural Muscatine, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Blue Grass, Iowa. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery . Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Bentley Funeral Homes, Durant, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. He farmed in Muscatine and Scott counties. He was born March 28, 1916, in Scott County. He married Marcella T. Kaczinski in 1954 in Grand Mound. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to the church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jean Schaefer, Davenport; a son, Randy, Blue Grass; three grandsons; and a sister, Margaret Bergert, Davenport.

Ethyl Mickelson
SAVANNA, Ill. -- Ethyl L. Mickelson, of Savanna, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Community United Church of Christ, Savanna. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery . Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, is in charge of arrangements. Ethyl was born Wednesday, March 13, 1907, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Agnes (Wilson) Shaw. Her early years were spent on a farm in rural Savanna, where she helped raise her brothers and sisters. She married Louis "Joner" Mickelson on Nov. 17, 1926, in Mount Carroll, Ill. Ethyl and Joner were married for more than 60 years, before his death on June 3, 1987. Ethyl enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafts, traveling to visit family, playing cards and talking on the phone. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. She loved having folks gather around her table for lively conversation. Ethyl was afraid of heavy rains and winds, but was fearless in protecting her family. She had a keen mind and was in excellent health and living independently until she was 90, at which time she moved to Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. She was a member of the Community United Church of Christ, Savanna, where she belonged to the Women's Fellowship, and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of many, many people. Memorials may be made in Ethyl's name to the Community United Church of Christ, 346 Chicago Ave., Savanna, Ill. 61074 Ethyl's family includes four daughters, Lyla Hoyt, Burlington, Iowa, Donna (Eugene) Flack, and Pam (Kenneth) Brown, both of Savanna, and Denise (Delbert) Hamilton, Trenton; and two sons, Gerald (Ellen), Villa Park, and Allan (Nancy) of Golconda, Ill. Ethyl's extended family includes Clarence (Carol) Flack, Camanche, Iowa. Ethyl's grandchildren and great grandchildren include Julie, Catie, Matthew and Jack Johnson; Mary Lu, Jim, Brody, Sam and David Gough; Ted and Julie Hoyt; Todd, Roberta and Isabella Flack; Kerry, Debbie, Kerby and Kallie Mickelson; Brett Mickelson; Jennifer Brown; Bradley Brown; Drew Hamilton; Sean Flack; Heather Flack; Corie Flack; Steve, Rita, McKenzie and Hannah Brown; Barb, Dave, David, Jessica and Colin Hamling; Brian and Jeanine Brown; Rhonda, Bill, Melanie, Haley, Joseph and Casey Camire; and Roger and Stephanie Zebrowski; and many nieces and nephews. Eight brothers, three sisters, both parents, and a special grandson, Ben Zebrowski, precede Ethyl in death. Her life was good and full and long. Ethyl worked hard for many, many years and is now at peaceful slumber. She will be missed by her family.

Olive Gibson
WYOMING, Iowa -- Olive "Ollie" Gibson, of Wyoming, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Anamosa Care Center, after a brief illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery . Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time Friday. Olive Grover was born June 10, 1916, in Lost Nation. She married Reginald Gibson in 1938 in Monmouth, Iowa. He died in 1976. She worked as a custodian for Wyoming schools for many years, in addition to cleaning homes for several Wyoming families. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Susan Gibson, Geneseo, Ill.; a step-daughter, Jeanette Malberg, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
