BETTENDORF -- Services for Flossie M. Hocking, of Washington, Ill., formerly of Bettendorf, will be 2 p.m. at Remmert Funeral Home, 521 E. Washington St., East Peoria, Ill. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery , East Peoria. Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hocking died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Flossie Myers was born March 9, 1906, in Springfield, Ill. She married James Hocking in 1938 in Springfield. He preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to Roland Manor Baptist Church, Sunnyland, Ill. Survivors include a daughter, Sandralee Keeshan, Bettendorf; sisters, Norma Bailey, Beverly Crebo and Madeline Brewer, all of East Peoria; and a brother, William Myers, East Peoria.

Heidi Hutchison
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Services for Heidi Hutchison, of Rockford, formerly of Moline, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Elim Covenant Church, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Miss Hutchison died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at St. Anthony's Medical Center, Rockford. She was the assistant athletic director for the past seven years at Rock Valley College. She was born Sept. 13, 1968, in Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heidi Hutchison Memorial Scholarship Fund at Moline High School or to the church. Survivors include her parents, John and Nancy Hutchison, Moline; a brother, Brad, Wyoming, Minn.; and a grandmother, Marjorie Anderson, Moline.

Mary Tagge
MOLINE -- Services for Mary M. Tagge, Moline, will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, and 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society will recite a rosary at 4 p.m. Friday, and a Christian wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Miss Tagge died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at her home. She was born Jan. 27, 1908, in Winchester, Tenn. She was employed in accounting at Deere & Co., Moline, for 38 years, retiring in 1972. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a brother-in-law, Fred McKinney, Moline; a niece, Marcia Lintz, East Moline; and nephews, Dr. David Tagge, Escondido, Calif., and Stephen Tagge, Springfield, Ill.

Ke 'Andra LaShawn Grant
DAVENPORT -- Ke 'Andra LaShawn Grant, infant son of Deloris Jean Grant, Davenport, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Friday. Ke 'Andra LaShawn was born Oct. 13, 1999, at University Hospitals. Survivors include his mother; sisters, Jenelle, Cierra and Natalie Grant, all of Davenport; brothers, Curtis and James Grant Jr., Davenport; and grandparents, Lois Grant, Davenport, and Jessie King, Chicago.

Frank Vavra
MORRISON, Ill. -- Services for Frank L. Vavra, of Morrison, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9446 W. 31st St., Brookfield, Ill. Burial will be in Bohemian National Cemetery , Chicago. Visitation is 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison, is in charge of local arrangements. Mr. Vavra died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at C.G.H. Medical Center, Sterling, Ill. He was a tool and die maker at Rock Island Arsenal for more than 30 years. He was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Stare Meste Uherskeho Hradiste, Moravia. He married Lilyan Rozhone in 1942 in Chicago. She preceded him in death. During World War II, he helped manufacture Nordan Bomb sites. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors include a son, Frank, Morrison; two grandchildren; a brother, Joseph, Punta Gorda, Fla.; and a special friend, Marie Hornacek, Countryside, Ill.

Ada Mathes
DURANT, Iowa -- Services for Ada Mathes, Durant, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Letts Cemetery . A luncheon will follow at Sweetland United Methodist Church. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Mathes died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at her home. She worked for the button industry in Muscatine; Thatcher Plastic, Muscatine; and the Laurel Building, Muscatine. Ada Nickols was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Muscatine. She married Ira Mathes in 1944 in Muscatine. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Leona Ellithorpe, Wilton; a son Timothy Mathes, Muscatine; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ellen Hillman-Figgins, Muscatine, and Mary Lovell, Muscatine; and a brother, Gary Nickols, Muscatine.

James Reuling
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for James R. Reuling, of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of Muscatine, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine. There is no visitation. Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Reuling died Oct. 6, 1999, in Wilmington. He was born May 25, 1920. He married Marion Reuling. She preceded him in death. He married Mary Ellen Selden. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Wilmington. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kristine Lalonde, Oyster Bay, N.Y.; Rebecca Perry, Haddonfield, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Louise Howell, New Bern, N.C.; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

John Davis
COLUMBUS JCT., Iowa -- Services for John H. Davis, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home with family present from 6-8 p.m. and Masonic Rites at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Davis died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999. He was a farmer. He retired in 1990 from Harris Construction. He was born July 22, 1918, in Cotter. He married Maryella Duncan in 1941 in Missouri. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rozanne Petrick, Mount Vernon; sons, Brian, Columbus Junction, and Don, Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Thode, Columbus Junction.

Dean Nordquist
MOLINE -- Services for Dean L. Nordquist, Edmonds, Wash., formerly of Moline, will be 3 p.m. today at Richmond Beach Congregational Church, Seattle, Wash. Mr. Nordquist died Oct. 14, 1999, in Edmonds. He formed the companies, Gemini Electric Marketing and 2 Guys From Seattle, Wash. He also ran Dino's Dogs at the Edmonds ferry holding lanes for four years. He was born June 13, 1928, in Moline. He married in 1950. Memorials may be made to the church or National Parkinson's Foundation. He served in the Naval Air Corps. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughters, Vicki Hubbs, Pam Nordquist and Cheryl Knowles; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Betty. BETTENDORF

Scott Waldon -- Services for Scott B. Waldon, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Bettendorf, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mercer Mortuary, Phoenix. Mr. Waldon died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, in Tempe, Ariz. He owned a computer business in Phoenix. He was born May 20, 1959, in Chicago. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include his parents, Karen Waldon, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Deane Waldon, Waterloo, Iowa; sisters, Linda Rector, LeClaire, Iowa, and Lori Waldon, Phoenix; half-sisters, Ladona Fishkin, Peoria, Ill., and Sherri Wilson, Letts, Iowa; a half brother, Sgt. Jeffrey Waldon, Okinawa, Japan; and a special friend, Tami Sieberg, Phoenix.

Kathryn Cole
GENESEO, Ill. -- Services for Kathryn L. Cole, of Geneseo, will be 10 a.m. Monday at North Cemetery , Geneseo. Mrs. Cole died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Wright Chapel, Geneseo, is in charge of arrangements. Kathryn Thompson was born Sept. 5, 1904, in Gold Township, Bureau County. She married James R. Cole in 1939 in Muscatine, Iowa. He died in 1987. Mrs. Cole had worked in the kitchen at the former Henry County Convalescent Home and at Hammond-Henry Hospital. Survivors include daughters, Wanetta Stuard, Colona, and Betty Willems, Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Helen Newlon
PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. -- Memorial services for Helen M. Minnaert Newlon, of Oak Lawn, formerly of Prophetstown, were held Saturday, Oct. 16, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Prophetstown. Inurnment was in Riverside Cemetery , Prophetstown. Mrs. Newlon died Oct. 12, 1999, at Christ Hospital, Oak Lawn. Helen Minnaert was born March 21, 1917. She married Raymond O. Newlon in 1935 in Atkinson. He died in 1976. The couple farmed in the Leon Community for many years until moving to Prophetstown in 1968. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant at Prophets Riverview Center for 29 years, retiring at the age of 80. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a granddaughter, Roberta "Bobbie" Newlon, Oak Lawn; a great-grandson, Ryan, Tinley Park; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Newlon, Tinley Park.

Helen Bolatto
ERIE, Ill. -- Services for Helen Bolatto, of Erie, formerly of Hennepin, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery , Hennepin. Mrs. Bolatto died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Gibson Funeral Home, Erie, is in charge of arrangements. Helen W. Gardner was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Butler, Mo. She married Adolph Bolatto in 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1986. She had been a registered nurse at several area hospitals. Memorials may be made to Erie United Methodist Church, Erie United Methodist Parish Nurse Program, Putnam County Library, Hennepin, or Matson Public Library, Princeton. Survivors include daughters, Elaine Bolatto, Princeton, and Elizabeth "Betty" Petersen, Erie; and two grandchildren.

John Stiegel
EAST MOLINE -- Services for John C. Stiegel, of East Moline, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ, Moline. Visitation is 5-8 today at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Stiegel died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He retired after 32 years with Deere & Co. He also was civil defense director for the City of East Moline for 10 years, serving on the National Committee. Mr. Stiegel was born Sept. 1, 1901, in Moline. He married Winifred Douglas in 1929 in Savanna. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Donna Periolat, San Carlos, Calif., and Carol Howard, East Moline; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

George Van Hoe
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for George Van Hoe, of Rock Island, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is 9 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Rock Island. Mr. Van Hoe died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1905, in Rock Island, the son of Charles O. and Adella (DeFrieze) Van Hoe. He worked as an electrician at the Cordova Nuclear Plant. He was a handy man and enjoyed fixing things. He served in the Army during World War II. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island; or Alleman High School. Survivors include cousins, Josephine Strang, Minneapolis, Mary Stevens, Silvis, Eleanor Miller, of Washington, Marie McGinnis, Moline, Julia Lerch, Andalusia, and Adella Carpenter and Jeannette Stevenson, both of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Deloris Kintzle
DAVENPORT -- Services for Deloris M. Kintzle, of Davenport, formerly of Muscatine, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be 1:45 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary Cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Mrs. Kintzle died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Crest Health Center, Davenport. Deloris Margaret Schumacher was born Sept. 3, 1914, the daughter of John and Mary (Burken) Schumacher. She married Richard C. Kintzle on April 23, 1936, in Muscatine. He died Nov. 6, 1987. Deloris was a member of the church. She enjoyed playing cards and listening to music. She was known for her sweet smile, which could brighten anyone's day. Being a wonderful seamstress, Deloris made first communicants outfits that were sent to the Vatican for Papal Blessing. Memorials may be made to the church, the health center, Ridgecrest Village or the American Cancer Society. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Donald W. Shepard, Waterloo, Susan and Terence O'Brien, Davenport, and Mary Grace and Johnny Wasson, San Marcos, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Catherine Kornemann, Denver; a brother, Paul Schumacher, and a sister-in-law, Anne Schumacher, both of Muscatine. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois A. Kintzle, a great-grandson, Derrick Shepard, and a brother, John Schumacher. May they rest in peace.

Goldie Kosbau
DAVENPORT -- Services for Goldie A. Kosbau, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 1-5 and 6-8 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Mrs. Kosbau passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at her home. Goldie Elleson was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Ossian, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert and Alma (Riveland) Elleson. She married Harold Kosbau Feb. 2, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. He died Oct. 16, 1982. Harold and Goldie owned and operated Bon Ton Bakery, Davenport, for 40 years. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the Senior Youngsters group at the church. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or the church. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Melton, Janet and Ricky McIntyre, Becky and Tim Clark, and Joan Harter, all of Davenport; sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Kosbau, Davenport, and John and Tauna Kosbau, Granite Bay, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters and a brother-in-law, Margerite Cox, and Audrey and John Fullan, all of Clinton; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Dolores Elleson, Clinton, and Richard and Marlene Elleson, Princeton, Ill. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Vernon.
