Doris M. Longley Doering
TIPTON, Iowa -- Services for Doris M. Longley Doering, of 209 E. 6th St., Tipton, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. The Rev. Eugene Benda will officiate. Jeanette Brennan is the organist, and Sue O'Donnell is the vocalist. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Doering died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after an extended illness. Doris Longley was born May 15, 1921, in St. Cloud, Minn., to Louis Arthur and Martha Veronica (Hirschfeldt) Longley. She married Richard Harold Doering on Oct. 17, 1942, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Davenport. He died June 20, 1994. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport, in 1939. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, St. Theresa Circle, had been a board member for Meals on Wheels, since 1973, a charter member of D.O.E.S. 217, Davenport, and a sustaining member of T.T.T. A memorial fund has been established in Doris' memory for the Davenport Assumption High School or St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, and may be mailed to 1495 240th St., Tipton, IA, 52772. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Fournier and Harlan, Silvis, Ill., Ann Farnell and Ron, Jacksonville, Fla., and Beth Oldham and David, Tipton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Longley and Maryann, Venice, Fla. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Martha Longley, and a son, Richard Doering Jr. Pall bearers are Don Lynch, Oscar Wilson, Don Kallenberger, Mick Ryan, Elmer Kunde and Bryce Werling. Honorary pall bearers are John Schneider, Betty Lorence, Bemadine Schloemer, Jane Cronkleton, Rita Parkinson, Leane Strupp, Marg Gimbel and Rita May Schebler.

Matthew D. Streeter
PORT BYRON, Ill. -- Funeral services for Matthew D. Streeter, Port Byron, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rapids City Cemetery . Visitation is 1-7 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Matthew died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born March 29, 1983, in Silvis, the son of Doug and Kelly (DeTaeye) Streeter. He was an employee of Hungry Hobo, East Moline. He was currently a junior at Riverdale High School, where he had participated in baseball and basketball for the past two years, and the golf team for the past 3 years. He loved fishing and playing golf. He was a sports fan especially following the Fighting Illini and all of Chicago's teams. A memorial fund has been established. Matt is survived by his parents, Doug and Kelly, Port Byron; his brother, Luc, at home; his grandparents, Betty Streeter, East Moline, and Chuck and Carol DeTaeye, Moline; aunts and uncles, Becky and Jerry Wright, Colona, Rick and Sue Jennisch, Moline, Greg and Caroline Streeter, Galva, Kevin Streeter, Lynn Center, Jeff Streeter, Port Byron and Dawn and Galen Streeter, Hampton; and several cousins and many friends.

Norman C. Ward
BETTENDOF -- Memorial services for Norman C. Ward, of Bettendorf, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service, Davenport. Inurnment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery , with military rites provided by Davenport American Legion Post 26. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Mr. Ward died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Norman Clarence Ward was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Chicago, to Wilbur and Ida (Weisjahn) Ward. He married Eunice P. Moyer on Sept. 21, 1946, in Davnport. He was employed as a meat cutter for more than 40 years through UFCW Local 431. In earlier years, he was employed with National Tea and most currently with Eagle Food Stores, retiring in April of 1993. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Memorials may be made to the family for the erection of memorial benches at Pine Hill Cemetery . Survivors include his wife, Eunice Ward, Bettendorf; a daughter, Alice Hughes, Morton, Ill.; sons, Norman Ward Jr., Ames, Iowa, and Jeffrey Ward, Springville, Iowa; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanne Matson, Portland, Ore., and Joan Windisch, Geneseo, Ill.; and a brother, Alan Ward, Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Barry Ward; and a brother, William Ward.

Gabrielle DeDoncker
EAST MOLINE --Gabrielle DeDoncker 96, East Moline, died Sunday, Oct. 24 at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , East Moline. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Gabrielle Veys was born Nov. 23, 1902, in East Flanders, Belgium, the daughter of Ernest and Eulalie (De Sloover) Veys. She married Aime O. DeDoncker on July 20, 1922, in East Moline. Memorials may be made to her parish St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law David and Carol DeDoncker, East Moline; grandchildren, Nancy Swanson, East Moline, David Dobereiner, Moline, John Dobereiner, Denver, Aimee Broderick, Davisberg, Mich., Mary Cavins, Breckenridge, Colo., Linda Burke, Omaha, Neb., Eileen McClean, Deerfield, Ill., John DeDoncker, Bettendorf, and Thomas DeDoncker, San Francisco; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aime, in 1968, and her daughter and son-in-law, June and Rudy Dobereiner, in 1979.

Myrtle Johnson
BLUE GRASS, Iowa -- Services for Myrtle C. Johnson, of Blue Grass, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery . Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Johnson died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. She was employed 17 years at Montgomery Ward & Co. and later at Meyer's Grocery, Blue Grass. She also served as Blue Grass town treasurer for eight years. She was born Feb. 1, 1909, in Scott County, to Lafayette and Ida (Brus) Myers. She married Alvin "Jack" Johnson on July 29, 1931, in Davenport. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Blue Grass Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Woman of the church, Old Settler's Descendants, Putnam Museum Guild and Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club. She enjoyed playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. Memorials may be made to Blue Grass Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, June and Derryl Baustian, Eldridge; granddaughters, Julie Bredow and Lori Burroughs, both of Eldridge, and Brenda Baustian, Davenport; and great-grandchildren, Corey, Jami, Jodi and Bethany Bredow and Amanda Burroughs. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Ruby McGee
DAVENPORT -- Services for Ruby H. McGee, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Davenport, will be 6 p.m. Monday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is one hour before the service. Private burial will be Tuesday at Davenport Memorial Park. Mrs. McGee died Friday, Oct., 1, 1999, at Bates Medical Center, Bentonville, Ark. She moved to Bella Vista one month ago from Davenport. She worked more than 20 years at Warner Press, Anderson, Ind. She was born April 22, 1914, in Laurel, Miss., to Walter A. and Allie (Duckworth) Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva O. McGee, in 1992. She attended First Evangelical Free Church, Davenport, and was a member of Quad-City Church of God. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ruby H. McGee Memorial Fund, 74 McKenzie Drive, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon and husband George Berry, Indianapolis; a son, Donald and wife Myrna McGee, Bella Vista; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sisters, Nadine Ward and Joyce Stephenson, both of Bastrop, La.; and brothers, Kyrel Hall, Gaylord, Mich., and James Carter Hall, Bastrop. She also was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters.

Mary Starck
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Mary E. Starck, of Muscatine, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Muscatine Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery , Muscatine. Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Starck had worked along with her husband at Starck Printing Co. and then was employed as a proofreader at the Muscatine Journal. Mary Bartkus was born May 30, 1906, in DeKalb, Ill. She married Perry Starck in 1926 in DeKalb. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church or the Salvation Army. Survivors include a sister, Jeanette Bartkus, and a brother, Edward Bartkus, both of Muscatine.

Mary Hawk
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Mary S. Hawk, formerly of 2714 4th St. A, East Moline and Silvis, Ill., will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Visitation is 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour before the service Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary. Additional services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Jager's and Son Funeral Home, Athens, Ohio, preceded by visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery , Athens. Mrs. Hawk died Oct. 1, 1999, at Grandview Acres Care Center, Toledo, Iowa. She was employed as a nurse in Grove City, Denver and the Quad-Cities. Mary Seth was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Grove City, Pa. She married Glennis Hawk in 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa. He died in 1998. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Survivors include daughters, Joanne White, Galesburg, Ill., and Marlene Flynn, Las Vegas; three granddaughters; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Foster, and a brother, LaVern Seth.

Hazel Spohn
DAVENPORT -- Hazel A. Spohn, of 700 Waverly Road, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home, Dubuque. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in United Church of Christ Cemetery , Sherrill, Iowa. Mrs. Spohn worked more than 15 years at Flex Steel and part-time at McDowell Sewing Center. Hazel Wilslef was born Aug. 1, 1912, in rural Preston, Iowa. She married Frederick Spohn in 1938 in Minneapolis. He died in 1962. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Brown, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Gary, LeClaire, Iowa; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Anderson, Maquoketa, Iowa, and Vilma Badrick, of Washington; and a brother, Virtus Wilslef, Preston.

Guadalupe Noriega
DAVENPORT -- Services for Guadalupe Noriega, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Monday. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery , Davenport. Ms. Noriega died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 4, 1964, in Durango, Mexico. Survivors include her mother, Cristina Noriega, a sister, Susana Dozal, and brothers, Elias and Alberto Noriega, all of Davenport, and Joquin Noriega, Longview, Texas.

Kim Harrison
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Kim R. Harrison, of Alexandria, formerly of Rock Island, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at his home. The body will be cremated in Virginia. A memorial service will be at a later date. Orr's Mortuary, Rock Island, is in charge of local arrangements. He was born Nov. 10, 1954, in Rock Island. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Naomi and Henry Momon, his stepmother, Hazel Harrison, and stepbrothers, Freddie and Robert Taylor, all of Rock Island.

Roberta Holliday
ORION, Ill. -- Memorial services for Roberta Wilson Holliday, of Orion, will be 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at Beulah Presbyterian Church, Orion. Inurnment will be after the service in Beulah Cemetery . Visitation will be after the service in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Holliday died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., Orion, is in charge of arrangements. Roberta Nimrick was born April 28, 1916, in Sherrard. She married Glenn Wilson in 1936. He died in 1978. She married Donald Holliday in 1983 in California. They operated a dairy farm near Beulah Church from 1936 to 1970. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Bonnie Hamilton, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Sherri Wilson, Yucaipa, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Susan Holliday, Chesapeake Beach, Md.; a stepson, Don Holliday, Tucson; Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Leona Romine
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Leona A. Romine, of 1622 270th St., Tipton, Iowa, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Andalusia, Ill., Cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Romine died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Muscatine, Iowa, Hospital. She was employed three years as a cook at Birdie's Homestyle Deli, Atalissa, Iowa. Before that, she was employed 30 years as a dryer at Sword's Veneer, Rock Island. Leona Horton was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Rock Island. She married John Crawford in 1940. He died in 1974. Survivors include daughters, Evelyn Horton and Donna Sherwood, and a son, Albert, all of Tipton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Clara Taylor, Phoenix, and Iona Holiday, Suligent, Ala.

Fern Wilkins
DAVENPORT -- Services for Fern L. Wilkins, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Wilkins died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center. She was a homemaker and also worked at M. L. Parker Men's Store. Fern Crozer was born Aug. 14, 1912, to Carl and Hazel (Smith) Crozer in Downey, Iowa. She married Paul Wilkins on Jan. 7, 1933, in Rock Island. He died April 5, 1978. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 178; First Christian Church, Davenport; Women of the Moose; and Davenport Women's Club. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Davenport. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Philip Heden, Bettendorf; a daughter, Patricia Wilkins, Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Wilkins, Davenport; grandchildren, Tess O'Shea, Jo Dee Toalson, Michael and Donnie Anderson, Julie Kunz, Scot and Chris Wilkins, Laura Heden and Douglas Covault; great-grandchildren, Brendan O'Shea, Ronald and McKenna Kunz, Kelsey and Cassi Anderson, Sam and Luke Wilkins, Devin and Dylan Perkins and Emma Covault; and a brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Catherine Crozer, Indianapolis. Mrs. Wilkins also was preceded by her parents. May they rest in peace.

Vaughn Kennedy
ILLINOIS CITY -- Vaughn L. "Jake" Kennedy, of rural Illinois City, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine, Iowa. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Kennedy farmed the land purchased by his grandfather, John Kennedy, in 1860. He was born Dec. 11, 1908, in Drury Township, Rock Island County. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church or Buffalo Prairie Cemetery Association. Survivors include three nieces, two nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews, including primary caregivers in recent years, Karen Kennedy Kindred and her husband Mike, Illinois City.

Jack Brandt
CAMANCHE, Iowa -- Daniel "Jack" Brandt, of rural Camanche, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at WestWing Place, DeWitt. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery , DeWitt. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Brandt farmed a Century Farm in rural Camanche. He was born March 7, 1901, in Camanche. He married Marie Kyarsgaard in 1937. She died in 1964. He married Ruby Smith in 1965. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Janice Johnson, Delmar, and Sharon Lee Leonard, Camanche; a son, Robert J., Camanche; a stepson, Gene Carstensen, Clinton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
