EAST MOLINE -- Services for Eunice Murdock, of 391 33rd Ave. Court, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, Ill. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Murdock died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Eunice Hays was born July 22, 1912, in Datto, Ark. She married Cecil Hadley Murdock in 1935 in Datto. He died Oct. 31, 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Swanson, East Moline; a son, the Rev. Cecil, Stover, Mo.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; half sisters, whom she raised, Grace Scott, Louisville, Tenn., Estelle Adams, Sharon, Tenn., and Camellia Dale, East Moline; and stepsisters, Pauline Schilly, East Moline, and Carmon Scarlata, Albany, N.Y.

Sarah Charleton, 101
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Services for Sarah A. Charleton, of Rockford, formerly of Elmhurst, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel, Forest Park. Mrs. Charleton died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Wesley Willows Care Facility, Rockford. Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll, is in charge of arrangements. She was a homemaker. Sarah Finlay was born Feb. 2, 1898, in Northern Ireland. She married Henry Charleton in 1925 in Ireland. He died in 1964. Memorials may be made to Rolling Hills Progress Center, Lanark. Survivors include a son, Samuel, Lanark; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Donald Ruby
DAVENPORT -- Services for Donald E. Ruby, of Davenport, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery , Davenport. Mr. Ruby died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He was born Sept. 12, 1944, in Numa, Iowa. He married Thelm McDowell in 1987 in Fort Wayne, Ind. He had been self-employed in Davenport doing home improvements and body and fender work. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; 17 children; 17 stepchildren; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Nyquist, Demming, N.M.; and brothers, Arthur and Eugene, both of Mystic, Iowa.

William Rembold
PANORAMA PARK, Iowa -- Memorial services for William H. Rembold, of Panorama Park, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time. Private burial will be held. Mr. Rembold died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. He was employed as a construction laborer affiliated with the Laborer's Union, Local 309, Rock Island. He was born Jan. 9, 1956, in Davenport, to Herbert and Irene (Newton) Rembold. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a son, William H. Rembold, Bettendorf; his mother, Irene Rembold, Panorama Park; and a brother, Carl Rembold, Moline. He was preceded in death by his father; an infant brother, Curtis Dean Rembold; and his grandparents, Harry and Beulah Newton and Ewald and Hazel Rembold.

Kenneth Biggs
MOLINE -- Kenneth R. Biggs, of Moline, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military services by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mr. Biggs retired in 1998 as owner and operator of Shutters Plus, Moline. Earlier, he was employed four years as a salesman at Lucas Power, Davenport, and as a salesman and vice president at Marvin Heeren Co., Moline, for 25 years. He was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Dixon, Ill. He married Mary Kustes in 1952 in Sterling, Ill. He had served in the Air Force. Memorials may be made to ARC of Rock Island County. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kathryn Trout, Julia Biggs and Renae Zeitler, all of Moline, Karen Gibbs, Rock Island, and Michelle Hamby, 0'Fallon, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; his father, George Biggs, Sterling, Ill.; and a sister, Ardyce Breiding, Virginia Beach, Va.

Carina Lind
DAVENPORT -- Services for Carina Christine Lind, infant daughter of James and Angela (Kraft) Lind 1/2E. Rusholme St., will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Snell-Zornig Funeral Home, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery , Clinton. Carina Christine was stillborn Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include grandparents, Sharon Kraft, Fulton, Ill., Deborah Lind, Clinton, and Wes and Sharon Lind, Camanche, Iowa.

Harry Lefstein
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Services for Harry Lefstein, of Colorado Springs, formerly of Rock Island, will be 11 a.m. today at Sons of Israel Cemetery , Colorado Springs. Mr. Lefstein died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in Colorado Springs. He was a retired retail men's clothing store owner. He was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Rock Island. He married Rivka Pemp in 1958. During World War II, he served in the Army. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Anna Alvey; two grandchildren; and a sister, Sally Rich.

Virgil Bradley
MOLINE -- Services for Virgil K. Bradley, of Moline, will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Moline. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Bradley died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island, after an extended illness. He retired as an assembler after 37 years at John Deere Plow Planter. He played electric steel guitar in country and western bands in the Quad-City area for more than 20 years. He was born Nov. 22, 1931, in Toulon, Ill. He married Juanita Parker in 1951 in Moline. He had served in the Marine Corps. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Westerlund, and a son, Daniel K., both of Moline; two grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Ulrick, Lafayette, Minn.

Marcella Hart
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Marcella V. "Sissy" Hart, formerly of Rock Island, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Apache Junction. Mrs. Hart died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Apache Junction, Ariz., Health Care, Marcella Brooks was born July 27, 1940, in Quincy, Ill. She married William Hart in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a daughter, Genise Hart, Minneapolis; sons, Billy Jr. and Philip, both of Rock Island, and Mark, Mesa, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; her mother, Lucille Brooks, Rock Island; sisters, Ethel Bassett, Rock Island, and Linda Brooks, Davenport; and brothers, James Brooks Jr., Quincy, Harold and Russell Brooks, both of Rock Island, and Lynn Brooks, Des Moines.

Van Bucher
COAL VALLEY, Ill. -- Services for Van S. Bucher, of Coal Valley, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Family Funeral Services, Colona, formerly Fairmans. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Bucher died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. He worked 31 years at Davenport Packing Co., Milan, Ill., and then worked 15 years at Quad-City Auction transporting automobiles. He was born July 1, 1928, in Quincy, Ill. He married Beulah Wallerich in 1953 in Rock Island. He had served in the Air Force and Illinois National Guard. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice. Survivors include his wife; sons, Rick, Sherrard, and Michael, Ollie, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Van De Velde, Silvis.

Dixie Middleton
MILAN, Ill. -- Dixie Middleton, of 1542 4th St. E Court, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at her home. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Larson Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation is two hour before the service. Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery , Matherville. Mrs. Middleton was employed as a caretaker at Colona House, East Moline, and was a private duty certified nurse assistant. She also had worked at the former Servus Rubber Co., Rock Island. Dixie Young was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Matherville. She married Dewey Middleton in 1992 in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice. Survivors include her husband; sons, David Maynard, Matherville, and Mark Maynard, Taylor Ridge; a stepdaughter, Denise Powell, Peoria; a stepson, Donald Middleton, Roanoke; four grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Larry Young, Indianapolis.

Winifred Aykroyd
DeWITT, Iowa -- Services for Winifred "Freddie" Aykroyd, of DeWitt, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery , DeWitt. Mrs. Aykroyd died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, is in charge of arrangements. She was employed as a librarian in Clinton and Fulton, Ill. Winifred O'Donnell was born June 28, 1906, in Clinton. She married R. H. "Steve" Aykroyd in 1941 in Clinton. Survivors include a niece, Helen Moran, San Diego; six grandnieces and nephews; and eight great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Mildred Jorgensen
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Mildred "Mit" Jorgensen, of Maryville, Ill., formerly of the Sarah Harding Home, Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Jorgensen died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Maryville Manor Nursing Home. She worked several years at A.C. Root Insurance Co., Clinton. Mildred Kramer was born March 12, 1909, in Clinton. She married Aage Jorgensen in 1935 in Clinton. He died in 1977. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church or American Lung Association. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Spelver, Maryville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Johanna Wheat
GENESEO, Ill. -- Johanna "Joan" Wheat, of Geneseo, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Fenton Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. She retired in 1972 from nursing at Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago. Johanna Huizenga was born June 18, 1906, in Whiteside County. She married John "Jack" Housenga in 1924. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Cross, Port Byron, and the nursing home. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Hamilton, Port Byron; a son, Tom Housenga, Geneseo; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Darrell Zeller
WHEATLAND, Iowa -- Memorial services for Darrell R. Zeller, of Wheatland, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christian Free Lutheran Church, Wheatland. No visitation will be held. The body was donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy. Mr. Zeller died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Chapman Funeral Home, Wheatland, is in charge of arrangements. He was co-owner of Wheatland Produce for many years. After that, he operated a grocery store in Wheatland, sold cars at Stueland Motors and was a seed corn dealer. He was born June 12, 1924, in Wheatland. He married Donna Leinbaugh in 1947 in Lost Nation. He had served in the Navy. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kyle Alden, Wheatland; sons, Lon, Wheatland, and Dana and Bret, both of Lost Nation; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Van Kirk, Wheatland.

Christian Richard Liebbe
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Christian Richard Liebbe, formerly of 919 W Third St., Muscatine, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine. No visitation will be held. Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine, is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Liebbe died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Lutheran Homes. He was employed as a laboratory supervisor at A.T. & T. Hawthorne Works, Chicago, and as a quality assurance engineer for 37 years. Before that, he was employed four years as a chemist at Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Pennsylvania. He was born Jan. 15, 1901, in Muscatine. He married Eva Schaefer in 1934 in Oak Park, Ill. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Homes. Survivors include a niece, Charlotte Frederick, Lodi, Ohio; and nephews, the Rev. Paul Schaeffer, Mendocino, Calif., and Charles Schaeffer, Olathe, Kan.

Judy Kaye Thomas
ORTONVILLE, Minn. -- Judy Kaye Thomas, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at her home in Ortonville, after a recently diagnosed illness. She resided in Ortonville after moving from her home in Chetek, Wis. Formerly a resident of the Cedar Rapids and Muscatine, Iowa, areas, she was born July 20, 1942, in Williamsburg, Iowa, to John and Dorothy Schneekloth. She worked in many different aspects of caring for people with special needs, ultimately becoming the director of Careers Industries, Burlington, Wis. She had a fond appreciation for the outdoors as well as a special knack for rustic decorating. Survivors include her husband, David Thomas; a daughter, Wendy Jones; a son, Jimmy Jones; a daughter, Mandy Jones; a brother, Larry Schneekloth; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial, Cedar Rapids.

Albert Schmarje
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Albert Schmarje, of Muscatine Care Center, formerly Heart of Hearts Building, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Visitation is noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine. Mr. Schmarje died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Muscatine Care Center. He had worked at Ronda Button Co., Barton Clothing Store and Schmarje Tool Co. He was born June 11, 1915, in Muscatine. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Center of Strategic Action. Survivors include sisters, Hilda Brown, Davenport, and Irene Evens, Bettendorf.

Barbara Schoenfeld
CLINTON, Iowa -- Barbara J. Schoenfeld, of Clinton, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She worked many years at Clinton Garment Factory. She also had daycare in her home since 1990 and delivered the Des Moines Register in Clinton and Camanche since 1989. Barbara Turner was born April 27, 1944, in Clinton. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Ludemann, Clinton; stepdaughters, Jennifer Schoenfeld, Parkersburg, W.Va., and Donna Schoenfeld, Clinton; a son, Allyn, Davenport; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Betty Fullick, Clinton, and Carol Fulton, Spooner, Wis.; and a brother, Jack Turner, Trego, Wis.

Gladys George
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Gladys M. George, of Muscatine, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine. There is no visitation. George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. George died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine. She was a homemaker. Gladys Stoneking was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Schuyler County, Ill. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include two nieces; and three nephews.
