THOMSON, Ill. -- John W. Reader, of 350 Illinois 84, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton, Iowa. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fulton Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery , Thomson. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Reader was employed at Savanna Army Depot; as a federal meat inspector in Detroit; at J I Case, Bettendorf; and at Johnson Sheet Metal, East Moline. Finally, he owned and operated a Lenox dealership in Port Byron. He retired in 1980. He was born Nov. 29, 1909, in East Lynn. He married Velma Moses in 1942 in Savanna. She died in 1988. During World War II, he served with the Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Claeys, Port Byron; a son, John I., Thomson; two grandchildren; and a brother, Wilbur K., Thomson.

Franklin Craine
KEWANEE, Ill. -- Franklin T. Craine, of Kewanee, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home Inc., Kewanee. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery , Kewanee, with military services by Kewanee Veterans Council. Mr. Craine retired in 1994 as a punch press operator at Kewanee Corp., and had farmed in the Kewanee area. He was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Putnam County, Ohio. He married Barbara Goard in 1951 in Kewanee. He served in the Illinois National Guard 123rd Infantry Co. K from 1948 to 1951. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 with the Army's 7th Cavalry. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Colleen Swanson, Santee, Ga., and Crystal "Chris" Craine, Naperville; and brothers, William L., Galva, and Harold E., Sheffield.

Barbara Spoerl
MOLINE -- Memorial services for Barbara A. Spoerl, of Moline, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. No visitation will be held. The body was cremated. Mrs. Spoerl died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. She was employed many years as a secretary at Windows Only, Moline. She retired in 1991. Barbara Canida was born June 1, 1951, in Moline. She married Howard Spoerl in 1975 in Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Tiffany, Rock Island; a sister, Nancy Liedtke, Rock Island; and brothers, John and Jerry Canida, both of Portland, Ore.

Phoebe Spletzer
SILVIS, Ill. -- Memorial services for Phoebe E. Spletzer, of Silvis, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Covenant Church, Moline. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Moline. Mrs. Spletzer died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, is in charge of arrangements. She worked several years at Desaulniers & Co. After retirement, she was employed as a baby sitter at Sam's Bowling Alley, Moline. She also was a nursery attendant at First United Methodist Church, Moline, as well as other churches. Phoebe Anderson was born Sept. 22, 1904, in Moline. She married Edward "Gus" Spletzer in 1943 in Moline. He died in 1959. Survivors include nieces, Helen Hitz, Los Angeles, and Edith De Grange, Kansas City, Kan.

Charles Beiderbecke
DENVER -- Charles H. Beiderbecke, of Denver, formerly of Davenport, died Nov. 1, 1999, in Denver. No services were held. The body was cremated. Mr. Beiderbecke was employed in sales management. He was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Davenport. He was a nephew of jazz musician Bix Beiderbecke. During the Korean War, he served as a staff sergeant in the 48th Cavalry. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Weir Rush, Meridian, Idaho; sons, Charles M., Nashville, Tenn., and Stephen R., Lakewood, Colo.; and a brother, Richard Bix Beiderbecke, Jacksonville, Ill.

Donald Henricksen
CAMANCHE, Iowa -- Services for Donald W. "Heiny" Henricksen, of Camanche, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , Camanche. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Henricksen died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He was employed at A&R Transport, Joliet, Ill., as a truck driver, his occupation for more than 40 years. He was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Clinton. He married Gloria Swailes. He had served in the Navy. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Jill Mootz, Clinton, Candy Fink, Olathe, Kan., Cassia Sellers, Davenport, and Cindy Miller, Camanche; nine grandchildren; his mother, Minnie Henricksen; and a brother, Gene, Clinton.

Joseph Rasso
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Joseph N. "Phillip" Rasso, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , East Moline. Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Mon- day at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Rasso died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at his home. He retired in 1971 after 40 years at Rock Island Lines, Silvis, Ill. He was born May 1, 1907, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Juan and Maria (Montecino) Razo. He married Carmen Ramirez on Aug. 3, 1934, in Irapuato, Mexico. During World War II, he served in the Army with Patton's 5th Infantry Division. He was a member of East Moline American Legion Post 227. He enjoyed fishing and feeding birds. He was a handyman and a Chicago Cubs fan. Memorials may be made to St. Anne's Building Fund or American Diabetes Association. Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Maria Beserra, Carbon Cliff, Ill., Alice and Leonard Lopez, Moline, and Linda and Steven Martinez, Hampton, Ill.; sons and daughters-in-law, Alfredo Rasso, East Moline, Rudolpho Rasso, Silvis, George and Teresa Rasso, East Moline, Antonio and Christina Rasso, Silvis, Lawrence and Janelle Rasso, Hampton, Mark Rasso, Rock Island, and Vincent Rasso, Peoria, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete Razo, Sterling, Ill., David and Helen Rasso, East Moline, Fred and Tina Rasso, Moline, and Dan and Esther Rasso, East Moline; and a sister-in-law, Esther Rasso, East Moline. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jack and Tom Rasso.

David Spencer
DAVENPORT -- David Spencer, of Davenport, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Iowa Masonic Nursing Home, Bettendorf. Private family services will be Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Private burial will in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Spencer was employed 37 years as an audio visual specialist at Rock Island Arsenal. He was born June 8, 1921, in Davenport. He married Virginia Carlson in 1943 in Davenport. He had served in the Coast Guard. Memorials made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Davenport Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bambi Mitchell, Davenport; two grandsons; and a brother, Jackson M., Davenport.

Brian Grother
ELDRIDGE, Iowa -- Services for W. Brian Grother, of Eldridge, will be 10:30 a.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge, where he was a member. The Rev. Daniel Mixdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church and will be one hour before the services today. Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Braack, Mike Norton, Joe Cawiezell, Kent Pennel, Jerry DeMarteleare, Bob Oster, Tim Puls and Chet Jones. Mr. Grother died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, after a motorcycle-truck accident near Eldridge. Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Eldridge, is in charge of arrangements. Brian was employed the past two years at Ipsco Steel Co., Montpelier, and recently had been promoted to shift coordinator. He was employed for 10 years as a plasterer at Oster Plastering, Eldridge. In earlier years, he had been employed at Eldridge Lumber Co. He was born Feb. 19, 1964, in Louisville, Ky., to Bill and Carole (King) Grother. He was a 1982 graduate of North Scott High School, Eldridge, and had attended Scott Community College. He married Melissa A. Kremer on Oct. 8, 1994, at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge. He had served as a firefighter and assistant chief on the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, loved snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, fishing and hunting. For many years, he coached girls softball in Eldridge. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; stepdaughters, Breezy Kremer and Shannon Kremer, both of Eldridge; his mother and stepfather, Carole and Larry Katter, Ocala, Fla.; his father and stepmother, Bill and Marilyn Grother, Eldridge; a brother, Alan Grother, Los Angeles; his grandmother, Viola King, Louisville; his mother-in-law, Annette Peart, Riverdale; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Yvonne Stougard
MOLINE -- Services for Yvonne Marie "Mickey" Stougard, of Moline, will be 1 p.m. Monday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Stougard died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill., after an extended illness. She was employed as a working supervisor at Serv-A-Lite Products, East Moline. Yvonne Durham was born May 15, 1945, in Rock Island to Vern and Jennie Anne (Tady) Durham. She married Robert E. Stougard on Sept. 10, 1977, at Moline Gospel Temple. She was a avid bowler and a member of the Women's International Bowling Congress. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Kim Brown, Tucson, Ariz., Michelle Nelson, Granite City, Ill., and Kerrie Wallen, East Moline; sons, Trent Durham and Robby Stougard, both of Bettendorf, and William Goodwin, Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and John Harder, Alpha, Ill.; and brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Judy Durham, Alpha, and John and Bonnie Durham, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Robin Lynn Durham.

Hubert Clark
SILVIS, Ill. -- Services for Hubert E. Clark, of Silvis, will be noon Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is two hours before the services at the funeral home. Mr. Clark died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at his home. He retired in 1980 as a switchman after 35 years with the Rock Island Lines. He was born April 1, 1920, in Modena, Mo., to Forest and Ethel (Hamilton) Clark. He married Edna Gay on Oct. 20, 1945, in Trenton, Mo. During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Orion, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Ledezma, East Moline; sons, Michael Clark, of North Carolina, David Clark and Dennis Clark, both of Alliance, Neb., and James Clark, Golden, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Lee Snyder, Lineville, Iowa, and Alla Bell Finney, Cainesville, Mo.; and brothers, James Clark and Paul Clark, both of Spickard, Mo., and Doyle Clark, Corydon, Iowa.

Jane Temple
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Jane Edith Temple, of 111 20th St., will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Visitation is one hour before the service. The Rev. Ivan Fuller will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Mrs. Temple died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. She was a homemaker. Jane Patterson was born Oct. 16, 1924, in Davenport, to Charles and Myrtle (Gamble) Patterson. She married Clois Temple on July 23, 1955, in Iowa City. He died in 1981. She was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island, and Spencer Towers Activity Club. She enjoyed ceramics and helping people around Spencer Towers. Memorials may be made to Spencer Towers Activity Club. There are no immediate survivors. She also was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Donna Walton
DAVENPORT -- Services for Donna J. Walton, of Davenport, were Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial is in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Mrs. Walton died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, after an extended illness. Survivors include her husband, Jerry.

Clare Roth
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Clare Angela Roth, of 3130 9th St., Apt. 11B, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Visitation is one hour before the services. Burial will be in Carbon Cliff, Ill., Cemetery . Mrs. Roth died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at her home. She was employed as a nurse's assistant and had worked at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Clare Carroll was born Sept. 19, 1937, in Cosulgo, Ireland, to James and Bridgette M. (Brennan) Carroll. She married Frank J. Roth Jr. on May 31, 1977, in Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruno Herbert, of England; her second husband, Donald Bodine, of Texas; her third husband, Ralph Pridem, of Morrison, Ill.; and Mr. Roth. She was a former member of Rock Island Moose Lodge and a member of Civil Defense Auxiliary, where she served as a sergeant. She enjoyed square dancing. Survivors include sons, Kevin Donnelly, of Texas, and Shamus Bruce Pridemore, Green Rock, Ill.; a grandchild; her mother, Bridgette Carroll; a sister, Mary Carroll Gibbons, of England; brothers, Noel Carroll, of Scotland, and Ronald J. Carroll, of England; and special friends, Ramona Feller, Ruth Mattingly and William Cain.

Selma Oberman
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Selma D. Oberman, of Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Andrew Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Mrs. Oberman died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. She was employed from 1962 to 1967 as a clerk at Clinton News Agency. Selma Becker was born April 5, 1911, in Jackson County, Iowa. She married Arthur Oberman in 1932 in Andrew. He died in 1966. She married Edwin Oberman in 1967 in Clinton. He died in 1999. Survivors include daughters, Marjorie Bott and Helen Bender, both of Clinton; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Donnelly, Seligman, Ariz.; a stepson, Leo Oberman, Clinton; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Daniel Moldenhauer
HANOVER, Ill. -- Daniel D. "Moe" Moldenhauer, of Hanover, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Galena-Strauss Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Hanover. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover, with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Moldenhauer worked 27 years at Deere & Co., Moline and Dubuque, Iowa. He was born Dec. 23, 1953, in Igloo, S.D. He married Mary Hingtgen in 1986 in Richardsville, Iowa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jessy Moldenhauer, a son, Jake, and his mother, Alvina Moldenhauer, all of Hanover; a sister, Wanda Reutter, Edgemont, S.D.; and a brother, Bruce, Hanover.

Jason Dolton
FULTON, Ill. -- Jason L. Dolton, of Fulton, died Saturday at Samaritan North, Clinton, Iowa. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. There will be no visitation. He was born Nov. 17, 1971, in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Victory Center Rescue Mission, Clinton. Survivors include his parents, Larry and Dianna Dolton; and a sister, Adrienne Dolton, all of Fulton.

Wilma Hughes
DeWITT, Iowa -- Wilma M. Hughes, of DeWitt, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Westwing Place. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 2-7 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a scripture service at 7 p.m. Wilma Hirzsiefen was born May 13, 1904, in Davenport. She married Michael Hughes in 1932 in DeWitt. He died in 1975. Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Goddard, Charlotte; sons, Richard and Hurbert Hughes, both of DeWitt; 22 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
