MOLINE -- Services for Evelyn B. Rockstroh, of Moline, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Mrs. Rockstroh died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, in Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Evelyn Canahl was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Princeton, Ill. She married Adolph Rockstroh in 1938 in Chicago. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Adolph; a son, William Rockstroh, Geneseo, Ill.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Belanger, Newbury Park, Calif.

Anita Gudgell
BURLINGTON, Iowa -- Services for Anita Gudgell, of Burlington, formerly of Tampico, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Yorktown Church of Christ. Burial will be in Yorktown Cemetery . Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico. Mrs. Gudgell died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center. Anita Gumfory was born June 22, 1936, in Tampico. She married Lester Gudgell in 1955 in Cambridge. Memorials may be made to the Yorktown Church of Christ in her memory. Survivors include her husband, Lester; a daughter, Linda Hanson, Burlington; a stepdaughter, Sara Martinson, of Florida; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and a sister, Cleo Irwin, Grove, Okla.

Rachel Vols
MOLINE -- Rachel M. Vols, of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be noon Tuesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , East Moline. Rachel Benoodt was born June 14, 1905, in Waterland-Oudeman, Belgium. She married Alfonse Vols in 1925 in Annawan, Ill. He died in 1980. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Moline, or Seton Jr. High Building Fund. Survivors include sons, Raymond and Robert Vols, both of Moline; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gladys Narhi
GALVA, Ill. -- Services for Gladys M. Narhi, of Galva, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery . Memorials may be made to Galva Senior Citizens Center or Vasa Lodge, Bishop Hill. Mrs. Narhi died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee. She was a homemaker. Gladys Russell was born March 21, 1905, in Tampico. She married Joseph Rydberg in 1923 in Galva. He died in 1964. She then married Arnold Narhi in 1966 in Winona, Minn. He died in 1984. Survivors include sisters, Helen Gill, Davis Junction, Alta Wehmeyer, Polo, and Villa Eads, Lanark.

Vivian Waterman
MOLINE -- Services for Vivian M. Waterman, of Moline, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, with a rosary at 4 p.m. by the National Catholic Society of Foresters Sacred Heart Court 956 and Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society, and a Christian wake service at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Waterman died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at her home. Vivian Blomberg was born Aug. 24, 1916, in Moline. She married Emil Waterman in 1940 in Moline. He died July 19, 1999. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou and David Fuller, Moline; a son, William Waterman, Geneseo, Ill.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Willard Blomberg, Denver, and Richard Blomberg, of Arizona.

John Wiese
DAVENPORT -- Services for John W. Wiese, of Davenport, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Quint City Baptist Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is noon until time of services Monday at the church. Mr. Wiese died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He had been employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 11 years. He was born Nov. 6, 1960, in Iowa City. He married Rosemary Davis in 1982 in Camanche, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Wiese, Davenport; a son, John II, Davenport; sisters, Cathy, Diane and Marian; a half-sister, Janene; half-brothers, Robert and Bill; his mother, Janet Hawthorn, Rock Island; his father, Roland Wiese, Charlott, Iowa; and his natural father, Robert Sprinkel, of Alabama.

Thelma Jenkin
KEWANEE, Ill. -- Thelma V. Jenkin, of Kewanee, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Jersey (Ill.) Cemetery . She was employed as a bookkeeper for Fullerton Lumber, Buda. Thelma Behrens was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Princeton. She married John Jenkin March 1, 1947, in Kewanee. He died March 20, 1999. A memorial has been established and can be left at the funeral home. Survivors include a son, Clifton Jenkin, West Jersey; two grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Kermeen, Plano, Maxine Walters, Indianapolis, Ind., Viona Gutschall, Buda, Nellie Carlson, East Peoria, Gladys Mecum, Buda, and Doris Neahring, Manlius; brothers, George and Edward Behrens, both of Buda, Howard Behrens, Princeton, and Harold Behrens, Channahon.

Beverly Scudder
ROCK FALLS, Ill. -- Services for Beverly J. Scudder, of Rock Falls, formerly of Morrison, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grove Hill Cemetery , Morrison. There will be no visitation. Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Scudder died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at C.G.H. Medical Center, Sterling. She worked as a L.P.N. for the former Whiteside County Nursing Home, Morrison, for 13 years. She also worked for Whiteside County Health Department and Morrison Community Hospital an activity coordinator. Beverly Brumbly was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Moline. She married Ray Scudder Sr. in 1948 in Lyndon. He died in 1990. Survivors include sons, Jerry Scudder, Janesville, Wis., Neal Scudder, South Milwaukee, Wis., Ray Scudder Jr., Carpentersville, and David Scudder, Morrison; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Brumbly, Prophetstown.

Carroll Miller
MOLINE -- Services for Carroll W. Miller, of Moline, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, Ill. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military honors by the Moline American Legion. Mr. Miller died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at his residence. He was born Jan. 13, 1931, in Marshalltown, Iowa. During the Korean War, he served as a private in the Army, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include three sisters, and two brothers.

Ted Quang Van
WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- Ted N. Quang Van, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in an auto accident in Muscatine County. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty. The body will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date. There will be a brief visitation following services. He worked at Lear, Iowa City, for many years. He was born Jan. 10, 1956, in Laos. Survivors include sons, Andy and Nicky Quang Van, both of Nichols; two brothers; three sisters; and his mother, Song Quang Van.

Mary Brown
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Mary Brown, of Rock Island, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. She was an artist. Mary Scott was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Joliet, Ill. She married Sheldon Brown in 1944 in Geneseo, Ill. He died in 1996. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Schmidt, Springfield, Ill.; a son, Dennis, Rock Island; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Alexander Ashton Myatt
BETTEDORF -- Memorial services for Alexander Ashton Myatt-year-old son of William and J. Sue Myatt, of Bettendorf, will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1107 Tanglefoot Lane, Bettendorf. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Tuesday after services at the Pleasant Valley Community High School Theater, 604 Belmont Rd., Bettendorf. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is in charge of arrangements. Alexander died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, after his lifelong cancer treatment. His parents are grateful for the care he received from the staff at University Hospitals, and locally at Genesis Medical Center and River Valley Healthcare. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors in addition to his parents are his brother, Zachary Myatt, at home; his grandparents, Adabelle Myatt, Maquoketa, Iowa, and Clyde and Jan Leonard, Sioux City, Iowa; his maternal uncles, aunts and cousins, Steve and Judy Leonard, and their children, Kristin and Scott, all of Sioux City, Wally and Konnie Leonard, and their children, Jim, Beth and Lynn, all of Cherokee, Iowa, and Chris and Lou Ann Goeb, and their children, Rachel and Andy, all of Sheldon, Iowa; his paternal uncles, aunts and cousins, Bruce Myatt, Maquoketa, and Judy Myatt, Dubuque, Iowa, and their children, Annette Rowan, Newton, Iowa, and Allison Myatt, Dubuque, and Tom and Barb Pestka, and their children, Lucas, Laura and Kelly, Delhi, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert B. Myatt.

Patricia Olsson
MONTICELLO, Iowa -- Patricia M. Olsson, of Monticello, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at her home. Private family services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Patricia Kimes was born May 23, 1935, in Moline. She married Thor Olsson Jr., in 1959 in Chicago. He died May 14, 1999. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 2001 South Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo., 63131-3597. Survivors include daughters, Wendi Mitchell, Davenport, Susan Olsson, Champaign, Ill., and Lisa Olsson, Rantoul, Ill.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Erlyene Park, East Moline.

Bert W. Hartman Jr.
DAVENPORT -- Bert W. Hartman Jr., of Davenport, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. He was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Muscatine, Iowa, to Bert W. Sr. and Fern E. (Sharar) Hartman. He married Marlene Sturms on Aug. 19, 1955, in Muscatine. He was a switchman for the former Nortwestern Bell Telephone Co., Davenport, and was later employed as a groundskeeper for MA Ford. Mr. Hartman was in the Iowa National Guard, Muscatine, for 10 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Davenport, and the Tuesday Morning Bible study group. He was also a member of Davenport Moose Club 28. He enjoyed fishing. Memorial may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Davenport. Survivors include his wife, Marlene; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Bill Zilske, Waukesha, Wis.; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Kelly Hartman, Davenport; granddaughters, Amanda, Ashley, Michelle and Kara; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Dean Dahms, Muscatine; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Myrtle Hartman, Thompson, Ill.

Viola M. La Grange
DAVENPORT -- Services for Viola M. La Grange, of Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. La Grange died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-North Campus, Davenport. Viola Marie Heiser was born Feb. 23, 1907, in Davenport, to John Christopher and Mary Matilda Heiser. She married LeRoy William La Grange on Aug. 17, 1935, in Davenport. He preceded her in death Sept. 26, 1946. After her husband's death, she valiantly devoted her life to raising her three children and working various jobs including Crescent Banking Company. After her retirement, she became a child care provider in her home. She enjoyed belonging to the drill teams of the VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She always had a strong love for her family, children, grandchildren, sisters, nephews, nieces and all the children she cared for. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Merle Wiese, Eldridge, Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Maxine La Grange, Bettendorf; a granddaughter, Lisa Wiese, Springfield, Mo.; grandsons, Bill and Timothy Wiese, both of Davenport; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Weedon and Evelyn McDonald, both of Davenport, Shirley and Jack Feener, Moline, and Dell and Champ Richards, Mesa, Ariz. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy; brothers, Donald, John Arthur, Clarence, Wilburt and Roland; and her beloved daughter and health care provider, Janet, who passed away Oct. 19, 1999.

Mabel Hill
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Mabel M. Hill, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary Inc., Silvis. Burial will be in Hampton (Ill.) Cemetery . Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hill died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in Silvis. She was a homemaker. Mabel Haskins was born April 8, 1910, in Green City, Mo. She married Raymond Hill in 1929. He died in 1996. A memorial fund will be established. Survivors include daughters, Maxine Pettit, Edgington, Ill., Darlene Ward, East Moline, and Shirley and Tony Copeland, Colona, Ill.; a son, Don Hill, Woodhull, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marjorie Libe, Washington, Iowa, and Ruth Crandall, Marietta, Ga.

Duard 'Oscar' Stutsman
PORT BYRON, Ill. -- Services for Duard A. "Oscar" Stutsman, of Port Byron, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Port Byron. Friends may visit with the family following the service at the church. Mr. Stutsman died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Heartland Health Care, Moline. Duard Arthur "Oscar" Stutsman was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Moscow Township, Iowa. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Steffenson on Sept. 21, 1939, in Port Byron. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He retired 10 years ago from Stutsman Tool and Die, a business he owned and operated for over 45 years. During World War II, Duard served as a tool and die maker at the Rock Island Arsenal. Duard spent a life time working with youth through the Boy Scouts, the Kiwanis Club and the church. He will be remembered by all for his love of the Mississippi River by which he was married, lived and retired. Everyone who visited and had the chance to enjoy the view from his home left sharing his love of the river. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Jim Stutsman, Arlington, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Karen Stutsman, Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda "Mindy" and James Sorensen, Des Plaines; and grandchildren, Peter and Chris Stutsman and Callie and Dane Sorensen. He was preceded in death by a brother Harold 0. Stutsman.
