CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Selma D. Oberman, of Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Andrew Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Mrs. Oberman died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. She was employed from 1962 to 1967 as a clerk at Clinton News Agency. Selma Becker was born April 5, 1911, in Jackson County, Iowa. She married Arthur Oberman in 1932 in Andrew. He died in 1966. She married Edwin Oberman in 1967 in Clinton. He died in 1999. Survivors include daughters, Marjorie Bott and Helen Bender, both of Clinton; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Donnelly, Seligman, Ariz.; a stepson, Leo Oberman, Clinton; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alma Prusia, Waterloo.

James Quaintance
MOLINE -- Services for James T. Quaintance, of Moline, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Rock Island, with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Quaintance died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at his home. He retired in 1985 from the Daily Dispatch after 32 years as information and electronic services manager. He was born April 6, 1920, in Sherrard, Ill. He married Mary DeWaegenaere in 1941 in Moline. She died in 1951. He later married Rosemary Miller in 1953 in Rock Island. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. Memorials may be made to Seton School, Moline or Pathway Hospice. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; daughters, Mary Reese, St. Charles, Mo., Barbara Quaintance, Arlington, Va., and Susan Quaintance, Chicago; a son, James, Solon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, William, Moline.

Elma Sullivan
MOLINE -- Services for Elma A. Sullivan, of Moline, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Mrs. Sullivan died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. She had been a waitress for many years at Hafner's, Moline. Elma Carnicle was born on January 14, 1918, in Moline. She married John Sullivan in 1943 in Fulton, Mo. He died in 1986. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer society or to a favorite charity of donor's choice. Survivors include a brother, William Carnicle, East Moline; and several nieces and nephews.

Hilda Rudd
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Hilda Rudd, of Rock Island, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Services, Milan, Ill. Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Laharpe (Ill.) Cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Rudd died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at her home. She taught school for three years, in Surprise, Mo., prior to working at Deere and Co. for 18 years in the purchasing and engineering departments. She then owned and operated the Milan Open Air Market, from 1969-85, when she retired. Hilda Copenhave was born April 24, 1931, in Brownington, Mo. She married Andrew Dubil in 1951 in Rock Island. She married Merle Rudd in 1964. He died in 1982. Memorials may be made to the Easter Seal Foundation. Survivors included daughters, Brenda Wild, Milan, and Cathy Sorrels, Moline; sons, David Rudd, Milan, Brian Rudd, White Plains, N.Y., and Merle Rudd, Matherville, Ill.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sisters, Ida Wilson, Stover, Mo., and Ruby Montgomery, Rock Island.

George Funk
IOWA CITY -- George Funk, of Iowa City, formerly of Mount Carroll, Ill., and Savanna, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Greenwood Manor Convalescent Center, Iowa City. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Visitation is prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery , Mount Carroll. He had worked for the Milwaukee and Burlington Railroads since his youth, retiring in 1954. He was born July 27, 1899. He married Florence Nicklas in 1924. She died in 1946. He married Louise Boerner in 1948. She died in 1975. He then married Margaret Elliot in 1976. She died in 1995. Survivors include a stepson; nieces and nephews.

Mabel Nylin
KEITHSBURG, Ill. -- Services for Mabel I. Nylin, of Keithsburg, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Family Funeral Services, Aledo. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery , Keithsburg. Visitation is 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Nylin died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville. She had been employed by Cannon Bronze Corp., Keithsburg, and Briggs and Stratton, Geneva. She also was a homemaker. Mabel Shotwell was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Eliza. She married Everett Nylin in 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1984. Memorials may be made to Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Bell, Knoxville; a son, Everett Nylin, Keithsburg; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Coulter, New Boston.

Jeannine Kook
DURANT, Iowa -- Jeannine M. Kook, of Durant, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Meadow Lawn Nursing Center, Davenport. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bentley Funeral Homes, Durant, where Alter & Rosary will conduct a rosary at 3 p.m. and there will be a Christian wake service at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. She was employed as a bank officer at Liberty Trust and Saving Bank, Durant, until 1991. Jeannine Kook was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Muscatine. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include sisters, Dolores Einfeldt, Durant, and Lora Lindsey, Atalissa.

Margaret March
MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Services for Margaret E. March, of Maquoketa, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sterling Cemetery , Sabula. Mrs. March died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Maquoketa Care Center. She had worked as Schultz Brothers Dime Store, Maquoketa, for 10 years. She then became a police dispatcher in Maquoketa for more than 20 years. Margaret Smith was born July 4, 1897, in Sabula. She married Charles Jennings in 1922 in Sabula. He died in 1952. She then married Questa March in 1965 in Andrew. He died in 1976. Survivors include a son, James Jennings, Frenchburg, Ky.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren;

Lela Meinsma
ALBIA, Iowa -- Services for Lela Meinsma, of Albia, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Albia. Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery , Savanna, Ill. Visitation starts at noon today at Gilbert-Nordstrom Funeral Home, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Ms. Meinsma died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. Lela Beddingfield was born April 12, 1946, in Savanna. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a daughter, Deniese Sigwalt, Lucas, Iowa; sons, Darron and Terry, both of Albia; one grandchild; a sister, Jerry Letcher, Thomson, Ill.; and a brother, Merle Long, Savanna.

Beatrice Alter Harris
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. -- Beatrice Alter Harris, of Arlington Heights, formerly of Davenport, died Nov. 8, 1999, in Arlington Heights. Survivors include her husband, Sol; sons, Michael A., Edmund, Okla., and Jerome, Schaumburg; and sisters, Rose Katz, Niles, Frances Alter, Morton Grove, and Jeanne Ritter, Davenport.

Marina Natwick
HAMPTON, Ill. -- Services for Marina F. "Phyllis" Natwick, of Hampton, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be at a later date in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Natwick died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at her home. She was employed 20 years as head of housekeeping at the former East Moline State Hospital. She retired in 1980. Marina VanVolsem was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Moline, to Edmund and Ida VanVolsem. She married Leonard F. Natwick on Nov. 9, 1940, in Moline. He died Jan 4, 1997. She was a member of the Local AFSME. She enjoyed playing cards, and she loved her family. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice or Option Care. Survivors include a daughter, Rita Davis, Hampton; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Carole Natwick, Moline, and Leonard and Debra Natwick, North Port, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Kori Kain
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Kori D. Kain, infant daughter of Kelli J. Kain, Rock Island, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, LaHarpe. Pastor Andy Goffinet will officiate. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery . Kori died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill. She was born earlier Sunday at St. Francis Medical Center. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a brother, Devyn X., Rock Island; grandparents, Twyla and Paul Lingard, Rock Island, and Jerry and Bonnie Kain, Milan, Ill.; great-grandmother, Betty Hensley Link, LaHarpe, Ill.; uncles, Kevin Kain, Rock Island, and P.J. Lingard, San Antonio; aunts Lori Janota, Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Angela Lingard and Kim Lingard, both of Rock Island; and several great aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Kenneth and Idaline Link.

Harry Wilkins
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Harry G. Wilkins, of Rock Island, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Rock Island. The Rev. Dr. Donald Batz will officiate. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military services by Milan Legion/Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island, and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Mr. Wilkins died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He retired in 1989 from MacMillan-Bloedel, formerly Container Corp. of America, Rock Island. He was employed as a corrigating machine operator. He was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Bagley, Iowa, to Charles Winfield and Mary Elizabeth (Hennen) Wilkins. He married Evelyn Krueger on March 6, 1949, at First Methodist Church, Rock Island. During World War II, he served in the Army. He enjoyed his family, all sports, fishing and camping and the winters that he and his wife spent in Texas. He also attended the reunions of his company from World War II. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice A. and Bryan L. Randerson, Apple Valley, Calif., and M. Jean and Alan W. Jackson, Rock Island; grandchildren, Erika Renee and Jamie Elizabeth, Nicole Christine and Natalie Jean Jackson and Eric Michael and Craig Matthew Randerson; sisters, Helen Mae Silbaugh and Mary Margery Thornton, both of Jefferson, Iowa; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; half sisters, Mildred Sexton and Louise Reichow; and brothers, Charles Dean Wilkins and Robert Wilkins.

Karen Crane
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Karen S. Crane, of East Moline, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline, where she was a member. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, and one hour before the service Thursday at the church. Karen died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline, with her family at her side. She was employed as a secretary in human resources at John Deere PDC from 1976 to 1992. Karen Sletten was born Jan. 18, 1954, in Moline, to Marion and Charlotte (Jones) Sletten. She married Terry Crane on Oct. 5, 1974, in East Moline. She enjoyed doing cross-stitch and puzzles, traveling and attending her children's activities. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Gilda's Club of the Quad-Cities or Pathway Hospice. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Erin and Lindsay, both at home; her parents, Marion and Charlotte Sletten, Darien, Ill.; a sister, Gail (Mrs. Larry) Goesch, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a brother, Jonathan Sletten, Darien; a niece, Krista Goesch, Thousand Oaks; and her father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Virginia Crane, East Moline.

Paula Cravero
MOLINE -- Paula Cravero of 2917 28th Ave. died Monday, Nov. 15, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , East Moline, with military services by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a Christian wake service at 6:30 p.m. She was born to John and Providence "Bobbi" Parizzi in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 16, 1945. She was graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in 1967. Paula then was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy, where she earned the Navy Achievement Medal in the Bureau of Naval Personnel. She also worked for the Census Bureau as a budget analyst. She met and married Joseph Cravero while in the Navy and celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last Dec. 21. Paula had three beautiful children whom she loved dearly: Joseph, Anthony and John Cravero. After moving to Illinois, Paula attended Black Hawk College and St. Ambrose University. Paula went on to the University of Iowa where she earned her MBA in 1991 and was first in her graduating class. She worked as a staff accountant for William Huckfeldt in the early 1980s. Paula was a professor the past 17 years in the accounting department at Black Hawk College, where she had been a past president of the Faculty Senate and past chairman of the department. She had been named Accounting Professor of the Year in 1995 by the Illinois Society of CPAs. Paula was a member of Western Illinois University Accounting Advisory Committee. She loved teaching accounting and truly loved every one of her students. A scholarship in her name will be established at Black Hawk College. Memorials may be made to the Paula Cravero Scholarship Fund. Paula was, and always will be, the perfect hostess. She loved the beach, Mexico and flowers. Survivors include her wonderful family, including her husband, Joe, and her sons, Joseph, Anthony and his lovely wife Ann, and John and special friend Shayla McNeill; her dear sister, Joan Martin, and her husband Rodger; her wonderful niece and nephew, Erin and Lane Martin; her very devoted sisters-in-law, Loretta Sabio and Dorothy Holahan, and Loretta's wonderful children, Brett and Doreen, VJ and Kim and Dorothy Sabio; and her extended "family" of very dear and special friends and students. Paula will always be in our hearts and in our prayers.

Rev. Lloyd Dobroth
DAVENPORT -- Services for the Rev. Lloyd H. Dobroth, Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Koning Chapel, Ridgecrest Village, Davenport. Private burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, and one hour before the service Wednesday at Koning Chapel. Rev. Dobroth died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Crest Health Center, Davenport. Lloyd was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Burlington, Wis., the oldest son of Henry and Fandina (Rehbein) Dobroth. He was a 1946 graduate of Wartburg College and a 1950 graduate of Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa. He married Margaret Ann Fritschel in 1950 in Waverly, Iowa. He served Lutheran parishes in Oregon, Kansas and Iowa. He also worked in the private sector for 15 years at John Crane Inc., Morton Grove, Ill. Memorials may be made to Wartburg Theological Seminary Scholarship Fund, Dubuque. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Ann Abplanalp, Davenport, and Mary Jarrett, Vinton, Iowa; sons, David, Round Lake Beach, Ill., Mark, Austin, Texas, and Paul, Palatine, Ill., and their families, including 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and a brother, Henry Dobroth Sr., West Linn, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marilyn and Debra.

Viola La Grange
DAVENPORT -- Services for Viola M. La Grange, of Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. La Grange died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-North Campus, Davenport. Viola Marie Heiser was born Feb. 23, 1907, in Davenport, to John Christopher and Mary Matilda Heiser. She married LeRoy William La Grange on Aug. 17, 1935, in Davenport. He died Sept. 26, 1946. After her husband's death, she valiantly devoted her life to raising her three children. She worked various jobs, including at Crescent Baking Co. After her retirement, she became a child care provider in her home. She enjoyed belonging to the drill teams of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She always had a strong love for her family, children, grandchildren, sisters, nephews, nieces and all the children she cared for. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Merle Wiese, Eldridge, Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Maxine La Grange, Bettendorf; a granddaughter, Lisa Wiese, Springfield, Mo.; grandsons, Bill and Timothy Wiese, both of Davenport; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Weedon and Evelyn McDonald, both of Davenport, Shirley and Jack Feener, Moline, and Dell and Champ Richards, Mesa, Ariz. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy; brothers, Donald, John Arthur, Clarence, Wilburt and Roland; and her beloved daughter and health care provider, Janet, who passed away Oct. 10, 1999.
