WYOMING, Iowa -- Services for Roy E. Walters, of Wyoming, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Wyoming. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mr. Walters died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Maquoketa Care Center, after an extended illness. He was president of Municipal Street Improvements Inc. from 1980 to 1997. Before that, he was in the asphalt business, was employed 14 years as a farm training instructor for returning World War II and Korean War veterans as part of a government rehabilitation program at Maquoketa schools and earlier was a salesman in Wyoming and had farmed. He was born April 15, 1914, in Updegraph. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughters, Kay Ofman, Boston, Julie Null, Muscatine, Brenda Lee, Fairbank, and Joni Somerville, Wyoming; sons, Rodney Walters, Monmouth, Roger Walters, Bannockburn, Ill., Steve Walters, Northville, Mich., and Chuck Burns, Broken Arrow, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his twin sister, Ruth Ratcliff, Muncie, Ind. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores.

Dorothy Haggard
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Dorothy E. Haggard, of the Alverno Health Care Facility, formerly of 2608 N. 3rd St., Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 2-4 and 6 -8 p.m. today at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Mrs. Haggard died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at the Alverno. She had worked several years at DuPont and later was employed as a secretary at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church under Father William O'Connor. Dorothy Owens was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Clinton. She married Richard Haggard in 1944 in Needles, Calif. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mary Robinson, Prophetstown; sons, John and Mark Haggard, both of Clinton, and William, Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Winifred Owens, Clinton.

Lucille Hilgendorf
CLINTON, Iowa -- Lucille Hilgendorf, of 2913 N. 2nd St., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Mr. Hilgendorf was employed 25 years as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital. She retired in 1975. Lucille Rife was born Jan. 10, 1911, in Vinton. She married Franklin Hilgendorf in 1931 in Freeport, Ill. He died in 1955. Survivors include daughters, Jean Johnson, Camanche, Mary Johnson, Clinton, and twins, Joyce Ayers and Judy Long, both of Clinton; sons, Douglas, Kewanee, Ill., and David, of Fulton, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Charlotte Evans
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Charlotte A. Evans, of 310 N. 10th St., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory, Clinton. Mrs. Evans died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton, after a brief illness. She was a homemaker. Charlotte Knight was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Oelwein. She married Kenneth Evans in 1940 in Oelwein. Memorials may be made to the church or Shriners Hospital for Children, Chicago. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jon W., Philadelphia; and a grandson.

William Burmeister
DAVENPORT -- Services for William H. Burmeister, of Meadow Lawn Nursing Center, will be 11 a.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour before the service at the funeral home. Mr. Burmeister died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Meadow Lawn Nursing Center, Davenport. William H. Burmeister was born Sept. 22, 1910, in Davenport, to John and Clara (Schesser) Burmeister. He had been involved in the maintenance department at the former St. Ambrose College, Davenport. He retired in 1972. He also had been involved in maintenance at the Mississippi Hotel in previous years. He had been a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Memorials can be made to the church. Survivors include a good friend, Joseph R. Schloemer, Davenport; and other former neighborhood friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. May they rest in peace.

Rosalie Epperson
REYNOLDS, Ill. -- Rosalie Epperson, of Reynolds, Ill., formerly of Davenport and Hannibal, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, Ill. The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Stewart's Cemetery , Plainville, Ill. Rosalie Haskins was born Jan. 31, 1938, in McCleansboro, Ill., to Charles and Jewel Haskins of Hull, Ill. She married Edward "Buzz" Epley on Nov. 30, 1952. He died July 4, 1954. She married Gerald Epperson on Nov. 21, 1957, in Hannibal, Mo. Mrs. Epperson enjoyed bowling, fishing, visiting casinos and spending time with her grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice or Oak Glen Home. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Kirby Adamson, Reynolds, Cindy and John Snyder, Blue Grass, Iowa, and Belinda and Charlie Bolby, Decatur, Ill.; a son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Sally Epperson, Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren, Rusty Adamson, Tara (Josh) Tomsheck, Brad Lawlor, Eric and Jason Bolby, and Emily, Haley and Evan Epperson; a sister, Phyllis Radice, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and a brother, Marvin Haskins, Hannibal. She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ed and Glen Haskins; a sister, Shirley Boone; and a grandson, Daniel Epperson.

Wendell Wilson
DAVENPORT -- Services for Wendell K. Wilson, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. today at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Mr. Wilson died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He retired in 1977 after 29 years as shift supervisor at the ingot plant of Alcoa, Riverdale, Iowa. He was recognized by the governor of Arkansas for his volunteer work in Arkansas. He was responsible for the formation of a volunteer fire department at his residence area near Hot Springs, Ark. He was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Morning Sun, Iowa, to John and Myrtle (Kilpatrick) Wilson. He married Ruthetta M. Wallace on Oct. 19, 1940, in Davenport. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder; life member of Tri-City Dehlia Society; and a member of Alcoa Retirees Club and its 25 Year Club. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruthetta M. Wilson; daughters, Linda (Mrs. Blaine) Scriven, Coralville, Iowa, and Jo (Mrs. Russ) Hart, Blue Grass, Iowa; a granddaughter, Roberta Sheperd, Coralville, Iowa; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Dale Wilson.

James Largent
ROCK ISLAND -- James D. Largent, of Rock Island, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park, with military services conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Jim was employed 17 years as a contract specialist at Army Armament Chemical Command, Rock Island Arsenal. He retired in 1993. He was born July 18, 1931, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Ralph and Edith (Porter) Largent. He married Beverly J. Creech on Aug. 20, 1954, in Davenport. He graduated in 1949 from Rock Island High School. He was an all-star football player in high school. During the Korean War, he served in the Army. Mr. Largent was a member of Trio Lodge 57 A.F.& A.M., Rock Island, and Twin River Bass Association. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, being around people, was a fan of all sports and was an avid fisherman. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island. Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Kevin DeRoin, White Cloud, Kan., and Lisa and Pat Vaughn, Davenport; a granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Gary Tomlinson, Carterville, Ill.; a grandson, Jason Morales, Davenport; a great-granddaughter, Madison Tomlinson; and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Kurt Koehler, Phoenix.

Donald Hudson
PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- Services for Donald C. Hudson, of Port Orange, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at his home. Bellevue-Cedar Hill Funeral Home, Daytona Beach, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hudson was employed as a typesetter at the Quad-City Times. He retired in 1970. He was born in Burlington, Vt. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Hospice Volosia/Flagler Co., Encology Center, Halifax Hospital, 313 Clyde Morris, Daytona Beach, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Ann; sons, Donald C. Jr., Port Orange, and Larry H., Lions, Colo.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Gamby, Flushing, N.Y.; and a brother, Howard, Pine Key, Fla.

Lillie Halford
DAVENPORT -- Lillie C. Halford, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is noon to service time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , Buffalo, Iowa. Mrs. Halford was a homemaker. Lillie Easter was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Gainesville, Mo. She married Birt Halford in 1946 in Rock Island. He died in 1970. Survivors include daughters, Louetta Carlson, Davenport, Nancy Brentise, Davenport, Wonda Amoni, Buffalo, Iowa, and Susie Harrison, LeMars, Iowa; sons, Winston, Niangua, Mo., Gary, Yuma, Ariz., and Jerry, Davenport; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mamie Lewis, Pasadena, Texas, and Deloris Stroud, Mountain Grove, Mo.; and brothers, Reed Easter, Lebanon, Mo., Vandon Easter, VanZant, Mo., John Easter, Davenport, and Basil Easter, Matherville, Ill.

Roberta Stanton
SILVIS, Ill. -- Roberta M. "Bobbi" Stanton, of Silvis, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at her home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Dayton Cemetery , Colona. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Roberta Craycraft was born May 8, 1921, in Newton, Kan. She married William Stanton in 1944 in Montgomery, Ala. He died in 1987. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Richardson, Lockport, Ky.; sons, Jerry, Derby, Kan., and James, Colona; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Kirby, El Paso, Texas, and Rita Schaffer, Lusk, Wyo.; and a brother, Merle Craycraft, Tucson, Ariz.

Donald Lee
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Donald L. Lee, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Friday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Mr. Lee farmed and raised hereford purebred cattle for 29 years. In 1964, he moved to Muscatine and was employed as secretary manager at Muscatine County Mutual Insurance Co. until retirement. He was born June 2, 1910, at his parent's farm home north of Letts. He married Grace McCormac in 1935 at her parent's home west of Letts. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Linda Morrison and Mary Gleaves, Arnold, Md.; brothers, J. Lloyd and Edward L., both of Muscatine, and Paul M., Boulder City, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee, on April 14, 1999.

Helen Walsch
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Helen E. Walsch, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Muscatine Care Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock, Ill. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Mrs. Walsch was a homemaker. Helen Stalkfleet was born Feb. 10, 1916, in Muscatine. She married Raymond Walsch in 1956 in Woodstock. He preceded her in death. Survivors include sisters, Vera Gerling, Columbus City, Donna Merchant, Muscatine, Gladys Rowe, Wapello, and Mary Mize, of Arkansas; and brothers, Harold Stalkfleet, Crowley, Texas, Lee and Leroy Stalkfleet, both of Muscatine, and Frank Jr. and Cecil Stalkfleet, both of Nichols.

Wayne Haworth
LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Wayne L. Haworth, formerly of Davenport, died Nov. 18, 1999, in West Palm Beach. Memorial services were Nov. 20 at Tillman Funeral Home, West Palm Beach. He was born May 28, 1948, in Topeka, Kan. Memorials may be made to Hospice, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, Fla., 33407, or First Baptist Church, 1101 S. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, Fla., 33401. Survivors include his mother, Miriam Haworth, a sister, Gail Christie, and a brother, Dwight D., all of Lake Worth.

Margaret Larimer
GENESEO, Ill. -- Services for Margaret R. Larimer, of Geneseo, will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery , Geneseo. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Myers Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, where a Christian wake service will be at 8 p.m. Mrs. Larimer died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Margaret Klingler was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Monroe, Wis., to Emil and Rosa (Fruitiger) Klingler. She moved to Geneseo in 1936 with her family. She married Dale E. Whitaker on June 7, 1947, in Geneseo, and had two daughters. He died on April 11, 1988. She married Charles "Rusty" Larimer on July 21, 1989, in Las Vegas. She was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo; Geneseo Moose; and American Legion Auxiliary. She was retired and enjoyed her family, her grandchildren and playing bridge with her friends. Memorials may be made to Geneseo Humane Society. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Diane L. Rusk and Sharon L. Luikart, both of Geneseo, and Richard Rusk, her son-in-law who was like a son to her. Survivors also include a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Karla and Robert Morris, Decatur; stepsons and daughters-in-law, James and Deanna Larimer, Denver, David and Jo Larimer, Peoria, and Bruce and Vicki Larimer, Valley Springs, Calif.; grandchildren, Raymond Cotty, Brad Cotty and Kristin Cotty, all of Geneseo; nine step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Emil Klingler, Geneseo.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.

John W. Schwind III
DAVENPORT -- Services for John W. Schwind III, of Davenport will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service recited at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Schwind died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Kahl Home, Davenport, after an extended illness. John W. Schwind was born March 15, 1922, in Davenport, to John W. Schwind Jr. and Ann (McGovern) Schwind. He was a graduate of St. Ambrose Academy, Davenport, and attended the University of Notre Dame and the University of Colorado, Boulder. He was an Army veteran of World War II. John W. Schwind married Dorothy M. Hansen on Oct. 3, 1946, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Mr. Schwind was president-treasurer of Schwind Boeker Buick, GMC, VW and Subaru, Davenport, for 44 years. He retired Oct. 3, 1990, The Schwind Motor Co. was founded in 1916 by John W. Schwind Jr., father of the late Mr. Schwind. He assumed operation of the dealership in November 1944 after his father's death. In May 1945, Austin B. Boeker joined him to form Schwind Boeker Inc. He was former president of Scott County Auto Dealers Association, director of Iowa and National auto dealers associations, director of Chicago Buick Dealers Association and former director of the Davenport Chamber of Commerce. His memberships also include the Rod and Gun Club, Davenport Country Club, Outing Club and Beta Theta Pi. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Cathedral. Memorials may be made to Kahl Home or Sacred Heart Cathedral. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan and her husband Mike Thorndike, Grinnell, Iowa; sons, John W. "Jay" and his wife Sue Schwind, Davenport, and Matt and his wife Tracy Schwind, Davenport; grandchildren, Suzanne and Heather Thorndike, John, William and Elliott Schwind and Ben and Sarah Schwind; sisters, Suzanne and her husband John J. McCabe, Davenport, and Mary and her husband James Schmid, Dubuque, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Robert R. Hansen and his wife Frances, Davenport.

Jack Christiansen
MOLINE -- Jack M. Christiansen, of 2605 1st St. Court, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. In the mid 1970s, he was a member of the board and president of Deere Harvester Credit Union. He was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Moline, to Grant and Margaret (Bessee) Christiansen. He married Shirley Bergren on June 16, 1949, in Moline. He was an avid golfer, bowler, bridge player and sports fan. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, where he was a longtime member. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dr. Julie Christiansen, Trier-Zewen, Germany; and a son, J. Richard Christiansen, Boston. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and a brother and sister.

Harold Gray
LeCLAIRE, Iowa -- Harold "Keith" Gray, of LeClaire, formerly of Minneapolis, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at his home. The body was cremated. Private services will be held. Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. In 1932 he began working at Wonder Bakery, Davenport. He later worked for the same company in Omaha, Neb., and Minneapolis, where he retired in 1980 as superintendent. He was born April 16, 1917, in Industry, Ill., to Issac and Mae Gray. He married Bessie "Bette" Wright on July 25, 1937, in Peoria, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Genesis VNA Hospice Fund. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Larry Lathrop; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Margaret; grandchildren, Mark Lathrop and his wife Diane, Melissa Gray, Lori Lathrop and Christopher Gray; and a great-grandchild, Matthew Lathrop. Keith was preceded in death by his loving parents, three brothers and two sisters.
