The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites at 6:30 PM
There will be no funeral services. According to his wishes the body of Mr. Richardson
will be cremated following the visitation.
-Inurnment: will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the "Cast Away Disabilities" of Iowa City VA
Medical Center. This annual fishing outing is for veterans with amputees, spinal
injuries, brain trauma, and other related disabilites and is solely supported by
donations.
Dohren I. Richardson, 83 of Sperry died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.
Born August 1, 1924 in Ida Grove, he was the son of Claude and Laura Mead Richardson. On December 22, 1941 he married Alice Augusta Dethlefsen in Dakota City, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on August 24, 1999.
Mr. Richardson was an Army Veteran of World War II with the Bloody Bucket Division. He was wounded by mortar fire and captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge, in Luxembourg, near Bastogne, France on December 20, 1944 and was liberated on May 11, 1945. He was awarded three Bronze Stars for Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes Campaigns and the Purple Heart.
He worked at Campbell Chain, Central Bag and Burlap, I.A.A.P. and was an ironworker in construction for Ironworkers Union Local No. 557.
Mr. Richardson was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 10102 and American Legion and enjoyed tinkering, inventing, crossword puzzles and loved watching westerns.
Survivors include three sons, Roger (Linda) Richardson of Surprise, Arizona, Jerry (Karen) Richardson of Ashland City, Tennessee, and Larry (Song) Richardson of Sperry; four daughters, Jeannette Richardson of Sperry, Pamela (Mark) Wagler of Fort Madison, Alice (Ron) Wooldridge of Burlington and Karen (Allan) Noe of Marshalltown; 15 grandchildren, Deidre, Kelley, Judy, Brenda, Paul, Michael, Mandy, Leigha, Joanna, Cathy, Ben, Jason, Rachel, Gary and Gwen; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His wife; parents; four brothers, Eugene, Virgil, Marvin, and Claude; two sisters, Fern and Dora Faye; one son-in-law, Mike Rutter and one daughter-in-law, Linda Richardson preceded him in death.

Kelly Sue Schilb, 38, of Burlington, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2007, at her home.
Born October 15, 1968 in Aurora, Illinois, she was the daughter of James E. and Suzanne Fullmer Behr. On August 3, 2005 she married Murfery Schilb; he survives.
Mrs. Schilb was a Certified Nursing Assistant, and was a member of Faith Outreach Center, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing Playstation games.
Survivors include her husband, Murfery Schilb of Burlington; her parents, James and Suzanne Behr of Downing, Missouri; four sons, Anthony Romano of Aurora, Illinois, Timothy Romano of Burlington, Jonathan Stuebinger of Madison, Wisconsin, and Cody French of Burlington; one grandson, Anthony Romano, Jr. of Aurora, Illinois; one sister, Jodi Drane of Phoenix, Arizona; and her maternal grandmother, Viola Fullmer of Aurora, Illinois.
Her maternal grandfather, Clarence Fullmer, preceded her in death.

Eugene Russell Schmidt, 80, of Burlington went to meet his Lord at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 11, 1927 at his grandmother’s house in Des Moines County, he was the son of Ralph and Clara Mae Wolf Schmidt. On January 1, 1949 he married Eupha Mae Harned in Morning Sun.
Mr.
Schmidt
was a Burlington High School graduate and a 1963 graduate of Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music. Mr.
Schmidt
was an Army veteran serving in Austria during World War II as a sergeant. After his military service, he was a farmer until 1959 when he felt the calling of the Lord to enter into the ministry. He became an ordained pastor and served in three churches in Iowa. Mr.
Schmidt
retired at the age of 72 as a truck driver in Burlington.

of Burlington; one daughter, Naomi (Lance) Landis of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Matthew, Troy, Stephanie, Krista and Starla and eight great grandchildren, Whitney, Clarie, Sabrina, Jerimia, Ithan, Colin, Kelsey and Blake.
His parents and sister Joan Lant preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s name may be made to Great River Hospice House.

According to Mrs. Seager's wishes, her body has been cremated.
Bonneda “Bonnie” Mae Seager, 81, of Burlington died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born May 30, 1926 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles Fredrick and Edith Frances Vahle Neupert. On February 2, 1957 she married Harold Lloyd Seager in St. Joseph, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 2. 2003.
Mrs. Seager worked in production at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
Survivors include one grandson, Shawn (Gloria) Banks of Nevada.
Her husband, daughter Charlene Letze, parents and sister Margaret Moeck preceded her in death.
According to Mrs. Seager’s wishes, her body has been cremated.

Galen LaVerne “Shep” Shepherd, 60, of West Burlington died Saturday, September 15, 2007, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Born September 21, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa he was the son of Ivan L. and Wanda Nadine Pebbles Shepherd. On May 7, 1966 he married Linda Carpenter in Burlington, Iowa.
Shep was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
He was a truck driver for Churchill Trucking Company and retired from Yellow Trucking Company in 2002. He enjoyed racing, sprint cars, fishing, reading, hunting, four wheeling and especially loved his grandchildren. He was known as the Mayor of Drunken Holler.
Survivors include, his wife Linda Shepherd of West Burlington; his mother, Wanda Nadine Shepherd of Burlington; one daughter, Laurie (Marty) Smith of Burlington, Iowa; two sons, Kevin (Martina) Shepherd of Oak Grove,
Minnesota and Mark (Amy) Shepherd of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Chris, Robin, Andy, Logan, Megan, and Ellie; two sisters, Nelda Jackson of Augusta, Iowa and Noreda (Monty) Schnedler of Burlington, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
His father, grandparents and one brother Robert preceded him in death.

Katheryn “Katie” Louise Sliger of New Eagle, Pennsylvania formerly of Burlington and West Burlington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2008 in New Eagle.
Born February 15, 1919 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Walter and Julia Koenig Goetz. On August 20, 1936 she married Lee I. Sliger in Burlington. They were married almost 63 years before he passed away August 14, 1999.
Mrs. Sliger worked at the Burlington Biscuit Company, Burlington Instrument Company, Iowa Ordnance Plant and Sweet Heart Surplus Baker.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington. She and her husband taught Sunday school several years. After moving to New Eagle to live with her daughter, she attended Riverview Baptist Church.
Survivors are one daughter, Judith Seraly of New Eagle whom she made her home with since May 30, 2000; one brother, Donald Goetz and wife Jean of Tipton; one special daughter-in-law, Jackie Sliger of Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” Seraly of Monongahela, Pennsylvania, David Seraly of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania, Julie Nicholas of New Eagle, Pennsylvania, and Byron and Darrin Sliger both of Boise, Idaho; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a son, Larry Sliger, two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Goetz and one sister, Dorothy Doemland.
Memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington and Riverview Baptist Church, 405 Main St., New Eagle, PA 15067.
