SWEDONA, Ill. -- Services for Vernice A. Anderson, formerly of Swedona, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Swedona Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Swedona Lutheran Cemetery . Visitation has been changed to 4- 7:30 p.m. today at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Mrs. Anderson died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. She retired in 1991 as the custodian after more than 25 years at Swedona Lutheran Church. Vernice Alvera Anderson was born Nov. 27, 1911, in Bowling Township, to David and Hulda (Beck) Anderson. She married Ivan J. Anderson in January 1934 in Swedona. He died in October 1970. She was a member of Swedona Lutheran church and WELCA, Women of the Evangelical Church in America, and a member and the secretary/treasurer of Swedona Water Association. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Delpha and Ed Campbell, Coal Valley; a son and daughter-in-law, Darryl I. and Mary Anderson, Preemption; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred Robinson; and a son, Lamont Anderson.

Harry Warren III
PYATT, Ark. -- Services for Harry L. Warren III, of Pyatt, formerly of Moline, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pyatt Baptist Church. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery . Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Burns Funeral Home, Yellville. Mr. Warren died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Mountain Home. He retired as a mechanic at Bruno-Pyatt Schools. He was born July 18, 1936, in Moline, to Harry Louis and Peggy B. (Murray) Warren. He was a member of Pyatt Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; daughters, Debbie Dick and her husband Paul, Orion, Ill., and Pam Warren Birdsley, Moline; a son, Wade Warren and his wife Sherry, Yellville; six granddaughters; a great-grandchild; a sister, Peg Fordyce, Moline; and brothers, Phil Warren and his wife Sue, Cambridge, Ill., and Steve Warren and his wife Mary, Colona, Ill.

Betty Murray
DAVENPORT -- Services for Betty J. Murray, of Davenport, will be noon Saturday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Hampton Township Cemetery , Hampton, Ill. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Murray died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. She retired in 1977 as a nurse's aide at Moline Public Hospital. Betty Metcalf was born March 26, 1954, in Blytheville, Ark. She married Shaune Murray in 1975 in Rock Island. Survivors include her husband; twins, Brian and Briggette Murray, both of Davenport; a grandchild; sisters, Eva Morrison Imber, Grove Heights, Minn., Georgia Ritchie, Atlanta, Rosie Riteman, Moline, Laura Madison, East Moline, Louise Bryson, Davenport, Ocie Metcalf, Silvis, Ill., and Martha Lucas, Blytheville; and brothers, Alton Metcalf Jr., Bettendorf, Louis Metcalf, Detroit, and triplet brothers, Andrew Metcalf, Rock Island, Albert Metcalf, Atlanta, and Arthur Metcalf, Moline.

Gladys Freeman, 101
ELIZABETH, Ill. -- Services for Gladys Freeman, of Elizabeth and Tucson, Ariz., will be 10 a.m. today at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will be in Elizabeth Cemetery . Mrs. Freeman died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was employed several years at a grocery store in Hanover. Gladys Breed was born April 17, 1898, in Long Hollow, Jo Daviess County. She married Dale Freeman in 1918 in Dubuque, Iowa. He died in 1971. Survivors include two nieces and two nephews.

Karen Peters
DAVENPORT -- Services for Karen K. Peters, of Cincinnati, formerly of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Mrs. Peters died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Cincinnati. She was employed as a high school mathematics teacher in Madrid, Iowa, and later in Cincinnati. Karen Kelling was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Davenport. Survivors include daughters, Julie Peters, Fort Bragg, N.C., and Cindy Stevenson, Seattle; her father, Edwin Kelling, Pine Island, Minn.; sisters, Reba Otero, San Diego, and Elizabeth Sawvell, Davenport; and brothers, Scott Kelling, Davenport, Dean Kelling, Phoenix, Ariz., and Roger Kelling, Peoria, Ill.

Margaret Erpelding
DAVENPORT -- Margaret Erpelding, of Davenport, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Mrs. Erpelding was employed in food service at Davenport schools. Margaret Volquardsen was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Maysville, Iowa. She married Dale Erpelding. He died in 1988. Memorials may be made to the U.S. Marine Reserve Toys for Tots program. Survivors include sons, Robert and George, both of Davenport; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Deters, Davenport, and Ethel Petersen, Sabula, Iowa; and a brother, Ed Volquardsen, Davenport.

Shirley Stroben
DAVENPORT -- Services for Shirley J. Stroben, of St. Anne Hospice, Winona, Minn., formerly a longtime Davenport resident, will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Mrs. Stroben died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at St. Anne Hospice. Shirley Jean Collins was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Davenport, to William E. and Vera (Hass) Collins. She married Kenneth J. Stroben on Aug. 19, 1950, in Davenport. He died Aug. 24, 1997. She was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church and had been very active in the church and parish in previous years. She enjoyed collecting dolls as a hobby and had an extensive collection. She was also a very accomplished seamstress. Memorials can be made to the church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Robert Parham, Winona; a son, John K. Stroben, Philadelphia; grandchildren, Becky and Danny Parham; and sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Everett Schroeder and Marjorie Furchbrich, all of Davenport.

Glen Davis
REYNOLDS, Ill. -- Glen B. Davis, of Reynolds, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at his son's home in Milan. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Family Funeral Services, Milan. Burial will be in Chapel Grove Cemetery , Taylor Ridge. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Davis farmed in Mercer County and Rock Island County and later was employed at International Harvester Co., Farmall Plant, Rock Island. He was born March 2, 1905, in Cave City, Ky., to Berry and Molly (Locke) Davis. He married Ruby E. Blair on Aug. 15, 1926, in Jeffersonville, Ind. She died Dec. 30, 1995. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Taylor Ridge. He enjoyed being at the mall to walk and visit. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and John Smith, Stewartsville, Mo., and Molly and Glen Cook, Taylor Ridge; sons and daughters-in-law, Demmie George and Cheryl Davis, Santa Maria, Calif., and Mardyne and Joyce Davis, Milan; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death his parents, a sister, six brothers and two great-grandchildren.

Fred Lorber
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Fred Lorber, formerly of 1223 Grand Ave., will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine, with a rosary prayer service at 5 p.m. Mr. Lorber died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine. He retired in 1970 as a crane operating engineer. He was born Nov. 10, 1905, on Muscatine Island. He married Dorothy King in 1929 in Muscatine. She died in 1990. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include daughters, Betty Marten, Syracuse, N.Y., and Susan Thirtyacre, Illinois City; sons, Charles, New London, and John, Muscatine; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Jack Glendon
SILVIS, Ill. -- Services for John "Jack" Glendon, of Silvis, will be noon Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Glendon died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. He retired in 1974 as a purchasing agent after 38 years at Deere & Co. After that, he was employed as a manufacturer's representative at Northern Screw and Mifast companies. He was born March 4, 1919, in Moline. He married Ethel Hunter in 1943 in Carlsbad, Calif. During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps with H & S Company 24th Regiment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Diane Rineck, Wauwatosa, Wis., and Deborah Runde, East Moline; sons, Jeffrey, Jefferson, Wis., and Jon Glendon, Silvis; five grandchildren; and brothers, Robert, Morris, Ill., and William, Silvis.

Rose Dungan
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Rose M. Dungan, of Rock Island, formerly of Aurora, Ill., will be 11 a.m. Monday at Healy Chapel, Aurora. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery , Oswego Township, Kindall County, Ill. Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Mrs. Dungan died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Rose Konen was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Aurora. She married Merle Dungan in 1942 in Aurora. Memorials may be made to Parkinson Foundation. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Dona Dungan, Rock Island; sons, Edward, Springfield, Ohio, Gerald, Aurora, and Merle D., Union, Ill.; two grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Thomas, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a half sister, Virginia Warber, Geneva, Ill.

Vyla Williams
NEPONSET, Ill. -- Services for Vyla L. Williams, of Neponset, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, with her sister, Barbara Brose. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Kewanee Hospital. Vyla McMeen was born Feb. 15, 1923, in West Frankfort. She married Robert Williams in 1948 in Kewanee. Memorials may be made to Buda Rescue Squad. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cheryl Hill, Neponset; a granddaughter; sisters, Doris Johnston, Bradford, and Sandra Elrick, San Jose, Calif.; and a brother, Bruce McMeen, Neponset. Her sister, Barbara, died Monday.

George Pople
CLINTON, Iowa -- George G. Pople, of 1570 Main Ave., formerly of Peoria, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. No visitation will be held. The body was donated to the University of Illinois, Department of Anatomy, Chicago Campus. Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pople retired in 1973 after 30 years in the safety department at Caterpillar Tractor Co., East Peoria. He was born Aug. 29, 1908, in Peoria. He married Rosalind Emory in 1935 in Peoria. She died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Rosemarie Jacobs, Clinton; a son, Murray, Milan, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Dylan Hickson
OTTER CREEK, Iowa -- Dylan James Hickson, infant son of John and Melissa Hickson, Otter Creek, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Private services will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery , Otter Creek. Haylock-O'Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, is in charge of arrangements. Dylan James was born Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, Caitlin Hickson, at home; grandparents, Joan Hickson, Otter Creek, and Rudy and Debra Husemann, Andrew; and great-grandparents, Nora Hutchcroft, Wilma Spear and Ben Husemann, all of Dubuque.

Margaret Schave
CHADWICK, Ill. -- Services for Margaret L. Schave, of rural Chadwick, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Chadwick. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Schave died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison. She was employed at American Machine and Metal, East Moline, and at Bank of Silvis for several years. She also sold Avon Products for many years and had owned and operated Meg's Antiques, Sterling, and later in Rock Falls. Margaret Herbert was born June 21, 1919, in East Moline. She married Forrest Schave in 1940 in East Moline. They farmed until 1985 in Fairhaven Township. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Terry Price, Mount Carroll; sons, Dennis H., rural Chadwick, the Rev. Todd A., Omaha, Neb., and David E., Elburn; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Chalus, Utica.

William Scanlan
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for William J. "Bill" Scanlan, of 2206 Lafayette Terrace, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery , Clinton, with military services by AMVETS Post 28. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Schmitz Funeral Home, Clinton, with a vigil at 5 p.m. Mr. Scanlan died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at his home. He retired in 1980 as a switchman after 33 years at the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Clinton. He married Anna Belliender in 1950 in Oelwein. She died in 1988. During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps. He later served in the Army until 1953. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ahrean, Groton, Conn.; a son, Jon P., Davenport; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Martin Christofferson
NICHOLS, Iowa -- Services for Martin L. Christofferson, of Nichols, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty. Burial will be in Nichols Cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Christofferson died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Lone Tree Care Center after an extended illness. He had farmed in the Nichols area and later was employed as a laborer, working during the building of Interstate 80, in logging and on the Mississippi River. He was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Nichols. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Survivors include daughters, Mary Soukup, Windham, Lois Cordwell, Muscatine, Nancy Christofferson, Lockhart, Texas, and Kelly Demuynck, Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Dewayne, Austin, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Iola Coss and Jessie Ulch, both of Muscatine.

James Evans
ORION, Ill. -- James F. Evans, of 907 4th St., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. No services or visitation will be held. The body was cremated. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Evans was employed three years as a warehouse manager at Gene's Carpeting, Colona. He was born June 16, 1945, in Fargo, N.D. Survivors include daughters, Lecia White, Louisville, Ky., Melinda Sperling, Mount Carroll, and Jamie Sparks, Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and his mother, Mae Evans, and a brother, Dennis, both of Orion.
