GENESEO, Ill. -- Services for Dinah R. Baker, of Sidney, Neb., formerly of Geneseo, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. Burial will be in North Cemetery , Geneseo. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Baker died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Denver. Dinah Mounts was born April 2, 1965, in Rock Island. She married Keith Baker in 1990. Memorials may be made to Dinah Rae Baker Memorial Fund. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Derae Baker, and a son, Dalton Baker, both at home; her mother, Judy Fleming, Geneseo; her stepfather, Ernie Harvel, Canton; her grandmother, Louise Gaskins, Geneseo; sisters, Diane Holke, Debbie Taylor and Denise Dagit, all of Geneseo, and Dawn Milroy, Atkinson; and a brother, Rob Dagit, Rochelle, Ill.

Ruth Armstrong
NEPONSET, Ill. -- Services for Ruth V. Armstrong, of Neponset, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Sheffield. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery , Neponset. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Armstrong died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Ruth Grubb was born Oct. 8, 1919. She married Harry Armstrong in 1955 in Neponset. They operated the Texaco station for many years in Neponset. He died in 1977. Memorials may be made to Buda-Neponset Rescue Unit. Survivors include nieces and nephews, including James and David Jensen, both of Sheffield.

George Pople
CLINTON, Iowa -- George G. Pople, of 1570 Main Ave., formerly of Peoria, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. No visitation will be held. The body was donated to the University of Illinois-Chicago Campus Department of Anatomy. Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pople retired in 1973 after 30 years in the safety department at Caterpillar Tractor Co., East Peoria. He was born Aug. 29, 1908, in Peoria. He married Rosalind Emory in 1935 in Peoria. She died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Rosemarie Jacobs, Clinton; a son, Murray, Milan, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Ulysses Fraikes
SILVIS, Ill. -- Services for Ulysses E. Fraikes, of 1220 12th St., will be 10 a.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Mr. Fraikes died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He retired as an inspector in 1983 after 34 years at John Deere Plow Planter, Moline. He was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Lewistown. He married Dorothy Nelson in 1946 in Colchester. During World War II he served in the Coast Guard. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Linda Culbertson, Taylor Ridge, and Connie Hainline, Macomb; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Conover, Canton, June Carruthers, Galesburg, and Wanda York and Bernie Rilea, both of Liverpool; and brothers, Charles, Colona, and Lawrence, Canton.

Warren Rogers
EAST MOLINE -- Private services for Warren S. Rogers, of East Moline, will be Monday at Morristown, Ill., Cemetery . Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Rogers died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He had farmed in the Geneseo, Ill., area in his early years. He retired in 1989 from the Moline school district. He was born April 18, 1921, in Moline, to Bert and Alice (Bailey) Rogers. He married Joyce Nelson on Dec. 22, 1942, in Geneseo. He later married Betty Martin. She died in 1983. He enjoyed sports and gardening. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include Joyce Rogers, East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Priscilla and Larry Lodge, Andover, Ill., and Lucinda and Terry Ball, Troy, Ill.; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Debbie Rogers, Geneseo, Stuart Rogers, Morton, Ill., Tim and Elizabeth Rogers, Geneseo, and Brad and Shana Rogers, Jacksonville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Radue.

Frances Covert
ARLINGTON, Va. -- Frances Antoinette Covert, of Arlington, formerly of the Quad-Cities, died Nov. 1, 1999, in Arlington. Memorial services in the Quad-Cities will be at a later date. Frances Cieslak was born Dec. 2, 1912, in Spring Valley, Ill., to Kasper and Florence (Piotrowski) Cieslak. She married John Covert on Aug. 12, 1935, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Regina Horton, Arlington, with whom she resided, Colleen Genung, Moline, and Cheryl Brown, Milan, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Billie Covert, Green Valley, Ariz.; sisters, Marie Mackiewitcz, Omaha, Neb., and Florence Semlinski, Lois Campbell and Julie Cavaletto, all of Spring Valley; and grandchildren, Deanna Covert, Jeff Papish, Mike Covert, Staci Steward, Ron Covert, Norman Raffelson, Johnna Buck and Kelly Scherf. She also was preceded in death by two sons and three granddaughters.

Patti Goddard
CAMANCHE, Iowa -- Services for Patti Jane Goddard, of Camanche, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lemke Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , Camanche. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour before the services Monday. Mrs. Goddard died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. She was a homemaker. Patti Jane Collins was born March 28, 1963, in Chesterton, Md. She married Patrick Goddard in 1988. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Crystal Goddard, at home; a son, Matthew Gresl, Camanche; and her father, Raymond Collins Sr., a sister, Beckey Lehue, and a brother, Raymond Collins Jr., all of Florida.

William Cunningham
MOLINE -- Services for William W. Cunningham, of Moline, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is noon until service time Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Cunningham died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center, East Moline. He retired in 1979 as building superintendent after 32 years with Illinois Bell Telephone, Rock Island. He was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Denver. He married Kathleen Leone in 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nadine Leader, Geneseo, Ill.; a granddaughter; a sister, Shirley Johnson, Sierra Madre, Calif.; and a brother, Donald Cunningham, Anaheim, Calif.

Ethel Haney
ALEDO, Ill. -- Services for Ethel M. Haney, of Aledo, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. The Rev. Ronald Taylor of Antioch Baptist Church and the Rev. Brent K. Phillips of Aledo United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Haney died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at her home. Ethel Beeney was born Feb. 6, 1909, in Eliza, to Henry Selby and Hulda Nathalla (Monson) Beeney. She received her education in Eliza schools. She moved in 1925 to Reynolds and in 1962 to Rock Island, where she was employed at Schultz United. She married Ernest Garber Haney on Oct. 17, 1929. They moved to Marston, Ill., where they owned and operated Haney's Garage and Grocery until retiring in 1971. He died Oct. 5, 1986. She moved to Aledo in September 1993. She was a member of Mercer County Hospital Auxiliary, a 50-year member of Buffalo Prairie Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Antioch Baptist Mission Circle, American Association of Retired Persons and Mercer County Senior Citizens Center. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, Marston, or Mercer County Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Beverly Haney, Aledo; a daughter and son-in-law, Neta and Stephen Tagge, Springfield; grandchildren, Debbie (Mrs. Garry) Toops and Cheri (Mrs. Dale) Bloomfield, Aledo, Kathy Haney, Bloomington, David Tagge, Houston, and Natalie Tagge, Springfield; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Harold Trude
CLINTON, Iowa -- Harold L. Trude, of Clinton, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at his home. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery , with military services by Savanna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2223. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Trude was employed more than 25 years as a unit operator at Ralston Purina, Clinton. He was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Savanna. He married Kathleen Ruchotzke in 1983 in Clinton. He had served as a staff sergeant in the Army. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Pam Oberheim and Penny Casey, both of Fulton; sons, Richard and Ronald Mussmann and William Trude, all of Clinton; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Karen Hamilton, Savanna.

David Laing
CLINTON, Iowa -- David Laing, of 1915 410th Ave., died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at his home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Laing was born Aug. 10, 1917, near Miles. He married Anna Jensen in 1940 in Clinton. They farmed in the six-mile area for 56 years. They retired in 1979. Memorials may be made to Hospice Visiting Nurse Association. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy Dethmann, Cedar Rapids; a son, Larry, Spragueville; two grandchildren; a step-grandson; a great-grandson; a step great-granddaughter; and a brother, John Sr., Blue Grass.

Henry Mehrens
CLINTON, Iowa -- Henry J. Mehrens, of Clinton, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-South Clinton Campus. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Clinton Chapel, Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory, Clinton. Visitation is 1 p.m. until time of services Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery , Clinton. He was employed as a milkman for Elmwood Dairy for 28 years, retiring in 1973. He was previously employed at Collis Co. He was born May 19, 1916, in rural Clinton County. He married Eva Schaley in 1936 in Clinton. She died in 1993. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Survivors include daughters, JoAnne Saladino, Clinton, and Gloria Svendsen, Livermore, Colo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Juanita Vernon
DAVENPORT -- Juanita M. Vernon, of Davenport, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. The body is being cremated. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Runge Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. She was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1993. Juanita Kimes was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Carbon Cliff, Ill. She married Marvin Vernon in 1944 in Silvis, Ill. He died in 1973. Survivors include sons, Earl, Rock Island, Philip and Steven, both of Davenport, and Richard, Lebanon, Mo.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Erlyne Park, East Moline, and Patricia Olssen, Monticello, Ill.

Dorothy Thompson
KEWANEE, Ill. -- Private services for Dorothy H. Thompson, of Kewanee, formerly of Galva and Cambridge, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery , Cambridge. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Thompson died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee. She had been a salad maker for the Deck Restaurant, Geneseo. Dorothy Doy was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Burns Township. She married Charles Thompson in 1933 in Kewanee. He died in 1997. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Thompson, Galesburg; a son, Alvin Thompson, Kewanee; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Elgin, Kewanee.

Cathryn Rodenheber
BETTENDORF -- Cathryn D. Rodenheber, a resident of Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf, formerly of Rock Island, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at the home. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home. Cathryn Nicholas was born March 14, 1919, in Rock Island. She married Willard Rodenheber in 1946 in Rock Island. He died in 1993. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Home, or Genesis Visiting Nurse Association-Hospice Care. Survivors include her extended family, Dennis and Pat Rose, Davenport.

Preston Ruckman
DAVENPORT -- Memorial services for Preston C. Ruckman, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Mr. Ruckman died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He was employed at the Tilley Ladder Company, Davenport, retiring in 1987. He was also a farmer for many years. He was born Aug. 22, 1915, in Maloy, Iowa. He married Marjorie Coulter in 1948 in Parksville, Mo. She preceded him in death Sept. 7, 1999. Survivors include daughters, Deborah Ruckman and Lola Foster, both of Davenport, Vicki Maginity, Wyoming, Mich., and C.R. Barnett, Woodridge, Va.; a son, Bill, Moline; five grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Pearl, Seley, Texas, and Elsie Harlow, Omaha, Neb.; and a brother, Archie, Rock Island.

James McDonald
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for James I. McDonald, of Rock Island will be Thursday at Mount Salem Baptist Church, Preston, Miss. Burial will be in Mount Salem Baptist Cemetery . Orr's Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements. Mr. McDonald died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He had been a farmer and bus driver. He had also worked at Mopolis Lumber Company as a laborer. He was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Louisville, Miss. He married Gladys Harrison in 1941 in Preston. Survivors include his wife, Gladys McDonald, Rock Island; daughters, Aretha Kimmons, Rock Island, Eunice Smith, Preston, Mary Jack, DeKalb, Miss., Martha Baltimore, Rock Island, and Dorothy Johnson, Meridian, Miss.; sons, James, Ezra, Davenport, Wayne, Meridian, Jerry, Rock Island, Esau, Davenport, Charlie, Chicago, and Willie, Preston; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Hickman, Rock Island, Nellie Nicholson, Louisville, and Lillie Hopkins, Phila, Miss.; and brothers, Raymond, Louisville, and Willie, Chicago.

Louise Hudson
DES MOINES -- Louise E. Hudson, of Des Moines, formerly of Davenport, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Louise Nichols was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Davenport. She married Robert Hudson in 1947 in Buffalo, Iowa. He died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Speth, Rock Island; sons, Larry Hudson, New Virginia, Iowa, and Edwin Hudson, Conover, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
