BLUE GRASS, Iowa -- Lora M. Bowman, of Blue Grass, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Good Samaritan Home. The body is being cremated. Runge Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. She was employed as a nurse. Lora Chamberlain was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Cherry Valley, N.Y. She married Carlton Bowman in 1936 in New York. He died in 1988. Memorials may be made to the Fort Plain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution or the Fort Plain Fire Department. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Gudlewski, Blue Grass; sons, Jason Bowman, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., James Bowan, Nelliston, N.Y., William Bowman, Orlando, Fla., and David, Fort Plain, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Grayce Papaleo, Little Falls, N.Y.

Ethel Haney
ALEDO, Ill. -- Services for Ethel M. Haney, of Aledo, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. The Rev. Ronald Taylor of Antioch Baptist Church and the Rev. Brent K. Phillips of Aledo United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Haney died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at her home. Ethel Beeney was born Feb. 6, 1909, in Eliza, to Henry Selby and Hulda Nathalla (Monson) Beeney. She received her education in Eliza schools. She moved in 1925 to Reynolds and in 1926 to Rock Island, where she was employed at Schultz United. She married Ernest Garber Haney on Oct. 17, 1929. They moved to Marston, Ill., where they owned and operated Haney's Garage and Grocery until retiring in 1971. He died Oct. 5, 1986. She moved to Aledo in September 1993. She was a member of Mercer County Hospital Auxiliary, a 50-year member of Buffalo Prairie Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Antioch Baptist Mission Circle, American Association of Retired Persons and Mercer County Senior Citizens Center. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, Marston or Mercer County Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Beverly Haney, Aledo; a daughter and son-in-law, Neta and Stephen Tagge, Springfield; grandchildren, Debbie (Mrs. Garry) Toops and Cheri (Mrs. Dale) Bloomfield, Aledo, Kathy Haney, Bloomington, David Tagge, Houston, and Natalie Tagge, Springfield; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Joseph Mendoza Jr.
MOLINE -- Joseph Mendoza Jr., of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a Christian wake service at 6:30 p.m. He was employed at John Deere Parts Depot, Milan, Ill., as a parts handler, retiring in 1985. He was born Nov. 5, 1927, in Moline. He married Margaret Auguilar in 1949 in Moline. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Survivors include sons, Gary, Rock Island, and Kerry, Moline; three grandchildren; sisters, Lilly Barroso and Rachel Carrillo, both of Moline; and brothers, Frank, Rock Island, and Fred, Chicago.

John Ristau Jr.
GENESEO, Ill. -- Private family services for John E. Ristau Jr., of Geneseo, will be Monday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Myers Chapel, Geneseo. Burial will be in North Cemetery , Geneseo. There will be no public visitation. Mr. Ristau died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He was a maintenance man for the Geneseo School District, retiring in 1999. He worked previously for Bollen and Smith for 18 years. He was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Geneseo. He married Jean Thomas in 1971 in Las Vegas. Memorials may be directed to Shauna Ristau for a lung transplant. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jamie Ristau, Geneseo; sons, Todd, Charlottesille, Va., Scott, Chatham, Ill., and Shane and Cody, both of Geneseo; a grandson; and his mother, Rhea Ristau.

Wayne R. Kester
DAVENPORT -- Funeral Mass for the Resurrection for Wayne R. Kester, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Wayne died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Born on Oct. 9, 1912, in New Albin, Iowa, he was the son of Charlie and Ollie (Kay) Kester. He married Margaret Hogan on Jan. 9, 1943, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this January. Wayne attended Cornell College in 1930. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a clerk for the U.S. Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1969, then he worked as a clerk for the Iowa State Liquor Stores for 10 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus 532 Loras Council, Davenport, the American Legion Post 26, Davenport, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club and the St. Patrick's Society. He was active in the Sacred Heart Cathedral choir. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Cathedral Grade School or the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Mary Kester, Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Kevin and Joni Kester, Davenport; a daughter, Mary Ann Gosch, Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Robert Kester, New Albin; nieces, Patricia Furness, Walcott, Iowa, Nancy Richards, Sundance, Wyo., and Llouise Triplett, Ames, Iowa; and a nephew, Dave Steel, New Albin. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Robert Eriksen
MOLINE -- Robert N. Eriksen, of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Private family services will be Monday at Wend Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. He was the founder and former owner of Eriksen Chevrolet, Milan, Ill., working in the automobile business for 55 years, retiring in 1987. He was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Moline. He married Marjorie Adleman in 1946 in Orion, Ill. Memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice or the American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Eriksen, Moline; a sister, Norma Henning, Rock Island; and a brother, Rene, Milan.

Refugio Martinez
MOLINE -- Refugio P. Martinez, of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a rosary at 6 p.m. Refugio Pizano was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Acambaro Guanajuato, Mexico. She married Gelacio Martinez in 1937 in Mexico. Survivors include her husband; sons, Jesus, Cuernavaca, Mexico, Ruben, Jose, and Miguel, all of Moline; 28 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Antonio 'Paul' Cedillo
BETTENDORF -- Funeral services for Antonio "Paul" Cedillo Sr., of Bettendorf, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. The Rev. Dick Adams of Riverview Free Will Baptist Chruch, Bettendorf, will officiate.Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Cedillo died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at his residence after a brief illness. Antonio Cedillo was born Feb. 14, 1943, in Moline, the son of Antonio and Josephine (Lopez) Cedillo. He married Lou Ann Stigge on April 24, 1975, in Canton, Mo. He was the owner and operator of Cardinal Produce, Bettendorf, from 1976 to 1994. He later owned and operated Van Sant's Market, Bettendorf, from 1994-98. Most recently, he was the president of River City Farmer's Market. He attended Riverview Free Will Baptist Church, Bettendorf. He enjoyed working in his greenhouse, going to auctions and working on old automobiles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife; a son, Antonio "Tony" Cedillo Jr., Bettendorf; a stepdaughter and her husband, Lisa and Keith Hamilton, Oakville, Iowa; grandchildren, Paige and Ryan Hamilton; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lexia Cedillo, Bettendorf; and a niece, Melissa Wilkinson, Ocoee, Fla. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Josephine and Homer Van Sant, and his father, Antonio Cedillo.

Virginia Ann Stoner
MOLINE -- Services for Virginia Ann Stoner, of Moline, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., is in charge of arrangements. Virginia Ann was born Nov. 12, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Edward D. and Lucille A (Wolgamott) McKinsey. She married Roy A. Stoner Jr. on Feb. 15, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio. He died on Aug. 1, 1994. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a ticket agent for TWA. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Moline, where she and her husband started the church prayer chain. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Ohio State Buckeye football team, the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs teams. Survivors include sons, Michael Stoner and spouse Carole, Moline, and Steven Stoner and spouse Suzie, San Diego; grandchildren, Frederick M. Stoner, Orion, Ill., and Lauren E. Stoner, San Diego; and her father, Edward A. McKinsey, Dayton.

Fred Stoeker
BETTENDORF -- Services for Fred J. Stoeker, of Bettendorf, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone, Iowa. Burial will be in Keystone Cemetery . Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Stoeker died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at his home. He taught high school and coached wrestling. He retired as a sales rep for Jostens Inc. He was born April 6, 1927, in Oxford Junction, Iowa. He married Shirley Cooper in 1950. Memorials may be made to A.C.T.S. Fund at Moline Gospel Temple. Survivors include his companion, Lee Richardson, Bettendorf; daughters, Pennee Reyman, Donahue, Iowa, and Wendy Stoeker, Salisbury, Md.; a son, Fred Jr., Johnston, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and sisters, Velma Pickering, Keystone, Dorothy Musel, Belle Plaine, Iowa, and Arlene Kahn, Lincoln, Neb.

Raymond Dawson
SHERRARD, Ill. -- Services for Raymond E. Dawson, of Sherrard, will be noon Tuesday at Sherrard Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Mr. Dawson died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Heartland Care Center, Moline. He retired in the early '70s as an assembler at the Farmall plant and drove a school bus for the Sherrard School District after his retirement. He was born March 21, 1910, in Cable. He married Gladys Nimrick in 1931 in Rockford. She died in 1996. Memorials may be made to Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Survivors include daughters, Gloria Kruse and Ruth Ann Puckett, both of Rock Island; a son, Duane, Milan; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Esther Pearson
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Esther M. Pearson, of Rock Island, will be Wednesday at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery , Colo. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Moline. There will be no visitation. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, is in charge of local arrangements. She worked for the law firm of Reed, Ramacciotti, Robison, & Hruska, as a secretary to Mr. Reed from 1931-39. She and her husband owned and operated a landscaping business from 1948-53. She also owned and operated Pearson's Doll Shop, Longmont, from 1955-68, and she worked in the school cafeteria in Longmont. Esther Linden was born April 27, 1913, in Omaha, Neb. She married Nels Pearson in 1939 in Omaha. He died in 1975. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Moline, or Pathways Hospice Unite of VNHA. Survivors include a daughter, Annette Ullrick, Rock Island; a son, Russell Pearson, Devils Lake, N.D.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Holquist, Hastings, Neb.

Patricia Strouse
BUDA, Ill. -- Services for Patricia W. Strouse, of Buda, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sheffield United Church of Christ. Visitation is after services in the Church Hall. Inurnment will be in Oakdale Cemetery , Princeton. Mrs. Strouse died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Berlin Care Home, Sheffield. She taught piano lessons in her home and music in public schools in the Buda-Sheffield area for many years. Patricia Whaling was born March 14, 1928, in Peoria. She married Ted Strouse in 1949 in Elkhart, Ind. Memorials may be made to Sheffield United Church of Christ or the Bureau Valley School Foundation. Survivors include her husband Ted; daughters, Kay Strouse, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Lisa Caramia, Rochester, N.Y.; a son, Paul Strouse, Shannon; and two grandsons.

Albert Davidson
LOWDEN, Iowa -- Albert G. Davidson, of Lowden, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery , Lowden, with military rites. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence. He was a maintenance foreman for Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 48 years. Mr. Davidson was born Dec. 5, 1907, in Nevada. He married Charlotte Tometich in 1935 in Knoxville. During World War II, he served in the Army. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; and a sister, Margaret Bappe, Nevada.

Howard Bielema
ERIE, Ill. -- Services for Howard L. Bielema, of Erie, will be 10:30 a.m., at Fulton Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lusk Memorial Cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 p.m. today at the chapel. Mr. Bielema died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-Clinton North Campus. He was a farmer in the Newton Township area. He was born March 15, 1930, in Albany. He married Louise Vander Vinne in 1950 in Fulton. Memorials may be made to First Reformed Church Library, Fulton, or Albany Ambulance. Survivors include his wife, Louise; daughters, Brenda De Weerdt, Albany, and Marlene Keisel, Erie; a son, Darrell, Bloomington; five grandchildren; and sisters, Darlene Sikkema, Fulton, and Viola Thompson, Port Byron.

Vera McGilvrey
CLINTON, Iowa. -- Services for Vera McGilvrey, of Clinton, formerly of DeWitt, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Union Chapel Cemetery , Albia. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lemke Funeral Home, Clinton. Mrs. McGilvrey died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, in Littleton, Colo. She was a LP, OB nurse for DeWitt Community Hospital and for the former Jane Lamb Hospital, now Mercy Medical Center-South Clinton Campus. Vera Steel was born June 29, 1909, in Melrose, Iowa. She married George McGilvrey in 1931 in Washington. He died in 1984. Memorials may be made to Clinton Visiting Nurse Association, or the American Cancer Society. Survivors include sons, Jess, Clinton, and Loren, Highland Ranch, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Hazel Maring
FULTON, Ill. -- Hazel Maring, of Fulton, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North Clinton Campus. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fulton Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fulton Township Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. She owned and operated Hazel's Circle Foods, Fulton, and was later employed at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. Hazel Wiebenga was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Fulton. She married John Maring in 1932 in Fulton. He died in 1982. Memorials may be made to First Christian Reformed Church or First Reformed Church-Radio Broadcast, both of Clinton. Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Miller, Albany, and Marilyn Dyke, Fulton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Wiebenga, Rock Falls.

Joe Dolph
CAMANCHE, Iowa -- Services for Joe Dolph, of Camanche, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lemke Funeral Home Chapel, Clinton. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Dolph died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at his home. He was a truck driver for ADM and worked for the Burlington Paper Co. prior to his employment for ADM. He was born April 2, 1940, in Clinton. Survivors include his wife, Linda, Camanche; daughters, Nancy Wessels and Deb Westphal, both of Clinton; sons, Joe Jr. and David, both of Albany, Ill., and Allen, Atlanta; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Garcia, Camanche; and a brother, Richard, Clinton.
