COAL VALLEY, Ill. -- Services for Helen L. Forsberg, of Coal Valley, will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley. Burial will be in Coal Valley Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. conducted by Valley Chapter 274. Mrs. Forsberg died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Helen Choles was born May 19, 1910, in Madison, Wis. She married Philip Forsberg in 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. He died in 1982. She had served as election judge in Coal Valley for 45 years. Memorials may be made to the church or Shriners Hospital for Children. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Sovanski, Moline; and three grandchildren.

Mae Lee
ALEDO, Ill. -- Mae M. Lee, of Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo, formerly of Milan and Galesburg, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at the nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery . Mrs. Lee was employed at Galesburg Products Co. She retired in 1966. Mae Morris was born May 25, 1912, in Elmer, Mo. She married Jess Lee in 1938 in Burlington, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the nursing home. Survivors include a daughter, Doris Kelly, of New York; a son, J. T., Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel McNeal, Aledo; and a brother, Harold Morris, Fort Madison, Iowa.

Lynn Freyermuth
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for P. Lynn Freyermuth, of Muscatine, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory, Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Freyermuth died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Community Health Resources, formerly Muscatine General Hospital. She had worked at McDonald's, Ken's Pizza and Mazzio's Pizza as a shift supervisor. Lynn Gray was born April 7, 1962, in Sapula, Okla. She married Edwin Freyermuth in 1987 in Nashua. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Shaunna Kulp, Muscatine, and Stacy Freyermuth, Kansas City, Mo.; sons, Joshua Kulp and Troy and Brandon Freyermuth, all of Muscatine; her parents, Paul and Sharon Gray, Muscatine; brothers, Steve Gray, Iowa City, and Scott Gray, Wilton; and grandparents, Delmar Howard, Jennings, Okla., and Willie Gray, Sand Springs, Okla.

Noble Sandstoe
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Noble "Pete" Sandstoe, of Clinton, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Sandstoe died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Samaritan Hospital North, Clinton. He retired from the maintenance department after 44 years with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Gladbrook, to Nels and Torbjorg (Skare) Sandstoe. He married Dorothy M. Adams on March 15, 1952, in DeWitt. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clinton, and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. His hobbies included gardening, flowers and exotic birds. Memorials may be made to American Heart Foundation, Clinton County Chapter. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Christine Sandstoe, Clinton; and a sister, Maxine Kunau, Penn Valley, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and an infant son.

Hilaire Stephany
BELLEVUE, Iowa -- Services for Hilaire J. Stephany, of 304 N. 4th St., will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery , Springbrook, with military services by Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, with a wake at 7 p.m. attended by Bellevue Knights of Columbus as a group. Mr. Stephany died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. He had farmed 42 year three miles south of Springbrook. He retired in 1990. He was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Chicago. He married Daphne Brown in 1948 in Chicago. During World War II, he served in the Army. He received a Bronze Star. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Betty Pitts, Springbrook, and Mary Stephany, Maquoketa; sons, Paul, Dubuque, and Bob and John, both of Bellevue; and eight grandchildren.

Lillian Clifton
SAVANNA, Ill. -- Lillian R. Clifton, of Savanna, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Memorial services will be at a later date. Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, is in charge of arrangements. Lillian Heaton was born July 7, 1899, in Wylausing, Wis. She married Harley Clifton in 1920. He died in 1966. During World War II, she was a volunteer for the USO. Memorials may be made to Community United Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Maurice, Bellevue, Iowa; six grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren.

Irene Perkins
IOWA CITY -- Irene M. Perkins, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Solon Care Center, after a brief illness. Family services will be at a later date. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery , West Liberty. Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty, is in charge of arrangements. Irene Seaton was born April 18, 1904, in Oasis. She married Charles Perkins in California. Survivors include a brother, Clyde Seaton Sr., Iowa City.

William McConnell
HILLSDALE, Ill. -- Services for William W. McConnell, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Hillsdale, will be 4 p.m. Friday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Visitation is 3-4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mount Maria Cemetery , Hillsdale. Mr. McConnell had operated a gas station and a Ford car dealership in Hillsdale. He died Monday, April 12, 1999, at his home. He was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Hillsdale. Survivors include a brother, Glenn, Hillsdale.

Gary Lee
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Gary R. Lee, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in Muscatine. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Mr. Lee owned Lee Insurance. He was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Muscatine. He married Geraldine Hammann on 1960 in Muscatine. She died in 1975. She married Lana Hobbiebrunken in 1976 in Muscatine. He served six years with the National Guard. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Theresa Barthuly, Carmel, Ind., Pam Lee, Olathe, Kan., and Jennifer Lee, a student at Drake University, Des Moines; a son, Jeffrey, Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; his parents, Don and Grace Lee, Muscatine; and sisters, Linda Morrison, Waynesville, N.C., and Mary Gleaves, Arnold, Md.

Robert Hansen
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Robert J. Hansen, of 849 13th Ave. N., will be 1 p.m. Friday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Hansen died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. He farmed until 1968 south of Low Moor. He was born Feb. 4, 1906, in rural Low Moor. He married Lois "Toots" Paul in 1931 in Low Moor. She died in 1977. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or The Alverno. Survivors include a grandson, Rick Hansen, DeWitt; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Barber, DeWitt; and a brother, Harry, Clinton.

Jack Slivken
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Jack A. Slivken, of Rock Island, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Rabbi Stanley Herman will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Island Hebrew Cemetery . Mr. Slivken died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He was co-owner of E. Slivken & Co., Rock Island. He retired in 1979. He was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Rock Island, to Edward and Bessie (Filer) Slivken. He married June Schiff on Nov. 17, 1940, in Chicago. During World War II, he served with the Army in the Pacific. He was a member Tri-City Jewish Center, B'nai B'rith and Tri-City Jewish Center Men's Club. He served on Rock Island Hebrew Cemetery Association board and was an Hadassah Associate. He was an avid golfer and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Memorials may be made to Tri-City Jewish Center and Hadassah. Survivors include his wife; daughters and spouses, Dr. Roberta and Dr. Harvey Cohen, Middletown, N.J., Beth and Steve Stahlman, Boscobel, Wis., and Dr. Karla and Lt. Col. Jeffrey Allan, Bangkok, Thailand; sons and spouses, Ed and Susie Slivken, Rock Island, and Ken and Susan Slivken, New York City; grandchildren, David Slivken, Steven Slivken and spouse Betty, Michael Stahlman, Samuel Cohen, Sara Stahlman, Emily Allan, Rachel Slivken and Lisa Slivken; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Florence Goldstein.

Donald Nelson
WILTON, Iowa -- Donald W. Nelson, of 114 Vine St., died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peace United Church of Christ, Bennett. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery , Bennett. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Friday at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mr. Nelson was employed as a finish carpenter at Ferkel Construction, Rock Island, and various other construction firms in the area until 1994. He then worked at HWH, Moscow, until retiring in 1998 due to his health. He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Mechanicsville. He married Karen Zahner in 1960 in Bennett. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Karis Horstmann, Bennett, and LeAnne Daufeldt, Muscatine; a son, Donnie, Durant; his parents, Theodore and Ellen Nelson, Lisbon; four grandchildren; sisters, Ramona Rouse, Oxford Junction, and Judy Donald, Cedar Rapids; and a brother, David, Cedar Rapids.

Kane Laird-Codling
DAVENPORT -- Kane Alijah RayShaun Laird-Codling, infant son of Thadieus Codling and Brooke Laird, died April 9, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Services will be 1 p.m. today at Pine Hill Cemetery , Davenport. Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors, in addition to his parents, a sister, Mikaela; and grandparents, Marvin and Debbie Codling, LeClaire, Iowa, Barney Laird, Fairview, Okla., and Nita Allen, Donahue, Iowa.

Patricia Wiersema
FULTON, Ill. -- A "Victory In Jesus Day" memorial service for Patricia Wiersema of Fulton will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the First Reformed Church Fifteenth Ave. The service will be a time of meditation, praise and music. The community is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served following the service in the church fellowship hall. If unable to attend the service, feel free to stop by for a time of fellowship with the family.

Angeline Marciniak
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Angeline C. Marciniak, of Rock Island, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Mrs. Marciniak died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. She was employed 14 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Oak Park, Ill. She retired in 1978. Angeline Kowalski was born June 21, 1924, in Chicago. She married LeRoy Marciniak in 1944 in Chicago. He died in 1966. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Tollerud, Rock Island, and Sandra Watkins, Maple Valley, Wash.; a son, Stuart, Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and sisters, Rosemarie Wisla and Stella Keblis, both of Chicago, and Dolores Nubie, Wheaton, Ill.

Danny Fogler
DAVENPORT -- Services for Danny J. Fogler, of Davenport, will be noon Friday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Fogler died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Danny was employed in the construction industry, working in the Quad-City area. Danny Joe Fogler was born Oct. 2, 1948, in Bloomington, Ill., to Joseph Franklin and Margaret Angline (Epps) Fogler. He married Kathy Haviland on Oct. 19, 1984, in Davenport. Danny was a veteran of the Army. He served during the Vietnam war. He was a very proud veteran and was proud to serve his country. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and deer and turkey hunter. Memorials may be made to an education fund for his daughter, Christine. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Christine Fogler, at home; a son and his fianceé, Dan Sime and Michelle Swartz, Davenport; a grandson, Josh Woods, Davenport; a sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Jay Hoffman, of Pennsylvania; and a brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Julie Fogler, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Hazel McFadden
DAVENPORT -- Services for Hazel P. McFadden, of Chireno, Texas, formerly of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Mrs. McFadden died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Nacogdoches (Texas) Memorial Hospital. She had worked in the janitorial department at Davenport schools. Hazel Wallace was born Dec. 1, 1904, in Worcester, Wis. She married Clinton McFadden. He died in 1987. Survivors include daughters, Yvonne Plambeck, Tucson, Ariz., Lois Benda, Atlanta, Mo., Luella Hubbard, Lomax, Ill., and Darlene Welborn, Dallas City, Ill.; sons, Ron Claussen, Pekin, Ill., and Allen Claussen, Davenport; 30 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Clifton Drury
CLINTON, Iowa -- Clifton G. Drury, of 2923 N. 2nd St., died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Samaritan Hospital South, Clinton. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Lyons United Methodist Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Cannon Funeral Home, Clinton, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. conducted by Bellevue Masonic Lodge. Additional visitation is 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church. Mr. Drury farmed 20 years in the Miles area and then worked several years at Nabisco Brands, Clinton. He was born July 5, 1907, in Green Island. He married Beulah Miller in 1932 in Dixon, Ill. A memorial fund has been established, Survivors include his wife; daughters, Darleen Clausen, Clinton, and Nathalie Ewers, Galena, Ill.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
