KEWANEE, Ill. -- Memorial services for John E. Holmes, of Kewanee, will be 7 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kewanee. The body was cremated. No visitation will be held. Mr. Holmes died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Kewanee Hospital. Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements of arrangements. He had worked at Kewanee Corp. He was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Kewanee. He married Joan Nelson in 1968 in Kewanee. He had served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Kewanee Animal Shelter. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Holmes, Kewanee; a stepdaughter, Jane Halock, Rockland, Wis.; a son, John, Kewanee; a stepson, Terry Fredrickson, Sterling; 11 grandchildren; his stepfather, Robert Ainley, Kewanee; sisters, Shirley Meier, Bettendorf, Cecila Basham, Galesburg, and Janet Morris, Neponset; and brothers, Russell, Richmond, Va., Jim, East Peoria, and Bill, Suisan, Calif. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ainley, died in 1998.

Clarence Schave
REYNOLDS, Ill. -- Services for Clarence G. Schave, of Reynolds, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Edgington Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery , with military services by Reynolds American Legion Post 1166. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Family Funeral Services, Reynolds, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Mr. Schave died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. He was employed 33 years as postmaster at Illinois City Post Office and had farmed on his farm near Reynolds. He was born June 29, 1916, in Hampton Township. He married Evelyn Vroman in 1945 in Edgington. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Memorials may be made to Cancer Research or the church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Greg, rural Reynolds; sisters, Lois Everett, Winfield, Iowa, Carol Craton, Moline, and Edith Sofos, Burlingame, Calif.; and brothers, Esley, Hampton, and Forrest, Chadwick.

Marion Cole
ATKINSON, Ill. -- Private family services for Marion F. Cole, of Parc Home, Bellwood, will be at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery , Independence, Ore. Miss Cole died Monday, April 12, 1999, at the home. She had worked 21 years at Parc Home. She was born Oct. 5, 1933, in Flora. Memorials may be made to Parc Home (Provisional Association of Retarded Citizens). Survivors include brothers, Dave, Annawan, and Phil, of North Carolina.

Robert Field
MILAN, Ill. -- Services for Robert E. Field, of Milan, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Mr. Fields died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at his home, after an extended illness from cancer. He was employed as an assembler at Lockheed Aircraft, Burbank, Calif., and several other aircraft companies. He retired in 1971. He was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio. He married Irene McGuire in 1954 in Downey, Calif. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Koch, Milan; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Diane Brehmer
PRINCETON, Iowa -- Diane L. Brehmer, of Princeton, died Thursday, April 15, 1999. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was employed by Iowa Mutual Insurance Company, DeWitt, for over 20 years. She also taught ceramics. Diane Morris was born Sept. 1, 1945, in Clinton. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include he daughter, Cortney Berry, Princeton; her special friend, John Berry, Princeton; a sister, Lorraine Mickelson, DeWitt; and a brother, Donald Morris, McCausland.

Willie Dague
MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Services for Willie. L. Dague, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Carson & Son Funeral Home, Maquoketa. Burial will be in Streets Cemetery , rural Maquoketa. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Dague died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at his home. He worked as a machine operator for several industries in the Maquoketa area including Hoof Products. He was born May 17, 1936, in Jackson County. He married Mary Wheeler in 1957. He later married Sueann Varty in 1973. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include daughters, Kathy Goodwin, Manchester, Iowa, and Deb Goodwin, Andrew, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Pamela Knepper, Lombard, Ill.; sons, Bill, Urbana, Iowa, Steve, Farmington, Minn., and Bob, Maquoketa; a stepson, James Goldsmith, Indianola, Iowa; a sister, Zelda Brokaw, Monmouth; brothers, Blaine, Maquoketa, and Glenn, St. Helens, Ore.; and 28 grandchildren.

Donald Beam
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Donald G. Beam, of Rock Island, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Family Funeral Services, Milan. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery , Ill. Visitation is 4:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services Saturday. Mr. Beam died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He worked with his brother as a barber for nine years in Moline. After that he was employed at McLaughlin Body Company, Moline, for 30 years before retiring in 1992. He was born May 6, 1928, in Matherville. He married Joyce Fouts in 1948 in Rock Island. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Cindy Brady, Aldeo, Donna Myers, Fenton, and Sandy Saunders, Viola; nine grandchildren; and 15-great-grandchildren.

Catherine Langfitt
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Catherine C. Langfitt, of Clinton, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Visitation is 5-9 p.m. at the chapel. Mrs. Langfitt died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at her home. She was a homemaker. Catherine Gool was born March 23, 1909. She married William Langfitt in 1927 in Clinton. He died in 1967. Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association or to the Make A Wish Foundation. Survivors include daughters, Joyce Bousman and Gloria Mahmens, both of Clinton; a son, Jerry, Byrnes Mill, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Pfohl, Dubuque.

Amanda Gomez Cook
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Amanda M. Gomez Cook, of Clinton, will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation is noon until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery , Clinton. Mrs. Cook died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. She worked in the Financial Aid office at American Business Institute, Des Moines. Amanda Gomez was born May 26, 1977, in Abilene, Texas. She married James Cook in 1998 in Des Moines. Survivors include her husband, Jim, Des Moines; her parents, John and Lois Gomez, Clinton; her grandmother, LaVonne Hanson, Mason City; three sisters; and a brother, David.

Thomas Terrill
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Thomas Terrill, of Muscatine, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Drury-Reynolds Cemetery , Drury Township, Ill. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. He had worked as a machine shop supervisor at Carver Pump Co. since 1971. He was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Mercer County, Ill. He married Judith Pierson in 1959 in Las Vegas. He later married Elaine Miner in 1981 in Rock Island. Survivors include his wife Elaine; daughters, Traci Frieden, Stefanie Carey, and Pamela Carey, all of New Boston, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Kristen Welch, Joy, Ill; a son, Thomas, Illinois City; nine grandchildren; his father and stepmother, E.C. and Shirley, New Boston; and sisters, Glenda McDonald, Springfield, Ohio, and Beverly Barnhouse, Viola, Ill.

Lester Ronnfeldt
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Lester L. Ronnfeldt, of 1920 16th St. NW, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery , Bryant. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Mr. Ronnfeldt died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Samaritan Hospital North, Clinton. He was retired from farming. He was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Bryant. He married Mildred Rajcevich in 1941 in Kohoka, Mo. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Corine Babb, Boyne City, Mich.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Naeve, Preston.

Irene Block
GRAND MOUND, Iowa -- Irene Block, formerly of Grand Mound, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Grand Mound, Iowa. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. She farmed with her husband in the Grand Mound community, retiring in 1960. Irene Haack was born Feb. 19, 1906, in Welton. She married Adolph Block in 1928 in Grand Mound. He died in 1969. Survivors include daughters, Lorraine Wulf, Lost Nation, Lois Moore-Rittmer, Grand Mound, and Eileen Flammang, Grand Mound; a son, Allen, Grand Mound, a brother, Raymond Haack, DeWitt; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Larry Raymond
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Larry Charles Raymond, of Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery , Clinton. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Mr. Raymond died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Samaritan North Hospital, Clinton. He worked for Environmental Management Services Inc., Clinton, since 1996. He was born Jan. 18, 1968, in Clinton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or his daughter's educational fund. Survivors include a daughter, Katelyn Rose Raymond, Clinton; parents, Larry and Rosann Raymond, Clinton; a brother, Kevin, DeWitt; and grandparents, William and Evelyn Darby, Byron, Ill.

Robert C. Martens Sr.
DAVENPORT -- Robert C. Martens Sr., of Davenport, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mr. Martens worked as a roofer for the past 40 years. He was most recently employed by Vogal Roofing. Robert loved his family, and was very protective of them. He loved the outdoors, hunting and was an expert rifleman. He was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Scott County. He married Doreen Ray. He later married Connie Soppe on Feb. 2, 1974, in Kahoka, Mo. During WW II, he served in the Navy. He was Golden Gloves Champion while serving in the Navy. Survivors include his wife, Connie; a daughter, Debbie Deney, Tipton, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Gwen Hobson, Albany, Ill.; sons, Robert, Tomlah, Wis., and Kenneth, St. Clair, Minn.; stepsons, B. Michael Howell, Blue Grass, Iowa, and Timothy Howell, Davenport; sisters, Alma Smith, East Moline, Dorothy Boetger and Elsie Hauger, both of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Clara Sternberg, and Bernice Baker, both of Davenport; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Edward Sawvell
WILTON, Iowa -- Services for Edward W. Sawvell, of Wilton, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery , Wilton. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at Bentley Funeral Homes, Inc., Wilton, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Mr. Sawvell died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Cresent Nursing and Rehabilitation, Muscatine. He retired as an inspector at International Harvester after 22 years. He was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Clayton. He married Geneva Meskimen in 1935 in Waukon. Memorials may be made to the Wilton Parks and Recreation Department. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Jeanine Wacker, Wilton, Christine Fread, Des Moines, and Vicki Sneddon and Sue Bradley, both of Wilton; sons, Dean, Ashland City, Tenn., and Edward Jr. and Stan, both of Wilton; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Rev. Eugene Gould
ROCK ISLAND -- Rev. Eugene E. Gould, of Rock Island, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island, with Most Rev. John J. Myers, D.D., J.C.D., Bishop of the Peoria Diocese officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 2-8 Sunday at the church where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements. Eugene Gould was born April 13, 1919, in Bloomington, the son of William R. and Mae (Gottlob) Gould. Father Gould graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1940 with a Bachelor's of Arts degree. He graduated from St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. in 1944, and was ordained a priest for the Peoria Diocese on May 28, 1944, in St. Mary's Cathedral, Peoria. Father Gould's appointments included St. Joseph's Rock Island where he had also coached the St. Joseph High School basketball team; Alleman High School, Rock Island, where he taught and served as Athletic Director; St. Paul's, Danville and Schlarman High School, Danville; Sacred Heart, Rock Island; Blessed Sacrament, Morton, which he established; St. Patrick's, Peoria; St. Pius X, Rock Island, St. Ambrose, Milan; St. Patrick's, Andalusia; Vicar, Rock Island Vicariate; St. Peter's, Monticello, Ky, retiring in 1989. After his retirement, he continued to find ways to minister by traveling to make special appeals for the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, an organization to help children of the Third World. He had been accepting assignments for this foundation until March 17, 1999, and also was still assisting at liturgies in the diocesan parishes. During his pastorates, he was one of the co-founders of the Cooperative Ministry, a collaboration of Rock Island-Milan-Andalusia parishes. It was the organization that was instrumental in forming the Jordan Catholic School System, Rock Island, as well as the House of Prayer, Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alleman High School, Rock Island, St. Ambrose University, Davenport, or the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. Survivors include many cousins in the Quad-City and Central Illinois areas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Stephen Gould, in 1990, and a sister, Anne Marie in 1979.

Helen Shaw
DAVENPORT -- Services for Helen G. Shaw, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Shaw died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Helen Graham was born on Jan. 3, 1920, in LeClaire, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Rudolph) Graham. She married Robert F. Shaw on Dec. 1, 1943, in Davenport. He died October 1968. She had been employed as a secretary at United Light and Power Service, Davenport. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Maya Winther Kings Daughter Circle, Mercy Hospital (Genesis West) Auxiliary, and Putnam Museum and Guild. Memorials may be made to the St. Mark Lutheran Church Building Fund. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Bohlken, Anamosa, Iowa; sons, Robert W. Shaw, Knoxville, Tenn., and Larry A. Shaw, Davenport; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John Carroll
BETTENDORF -- John B. Carroll, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, where he was a member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at McGinnis-Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. John owned and operated Modern Radio Service in Davenport for many years, retiring in 1984. He was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Robert and Linnea (Berg) Carroll. He married Florence "Vicki" Bandy on Oct. 15, 1966, in Davenport. He was a long time, faithful member of the Bettendorf Lion's Club, where he was past president and served as secretary for a number of years. He enjoyed bowling, and participated in several bowling leagues. He also loved to play bridge and care for plants and flowers. Memorials may be made to the church, the Bettendorf Lions Club, or to the family Survivors include his wife, Vicki; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Tom Brooks, Bettendorf, Beverly McCune, of Los Angeles, Sue and Ron Westman, Dubuque, Iowa, and Tam and Phil Lines, Davenport; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Connie Bandy, El Paso, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Mary Anne Easton, Lakewood, Colo.; and brothers, James, Grand Terrace, Calif., and Dick, Wickenburg, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Ezelle, three sisters, and three brothers.
