Beulah Lohmann
DAVENPORT -- Beulah Lohmann, of Davenport, formerly of Dixon and Wheatland, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Davenport Lutheran Home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Beulah Carman was born April 10, 1915, in Texas County, Mo., to Luther and Della (Orr) Carman. She married Harold R. Lohmann on March 13, 1937, in Bartlesville, Okla. Beulah was active in Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wheatland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity. Survivors include her husband, Harold; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Lynn Ketelsen, Waseca, Minn.; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Jr. and Jeanne, of San Antonio, and David and Jacque, Davenport; grandchildren, Wade, Chad, Jessica, Lorrie, Terri, Matt, Sarah, and LeAnn; and brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Honey Carman, Ketchum, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Bruce, and a brother, Kenneth Carman.

Margarete Maxwell
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Margarete R. Maxwell, formerly of Clinton, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in San Fernando Mission Cemetery , Calif. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory, Clinton. Mrs. Maxwell died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Bluff Terrace Nursing Home, Clinton. She worked for Desmond's Department Store in Southern California. She was also a real estate broker in Westwood and Palm Springs, Calif. Margarete Reck was born March 10, 1902, in Clinton. She married William Maxwell in 1937 in Milwaukee. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include sisters, Ruth Reck and Mayme Williams, both of Clinton.

Raymond Shy
DAVENPORT -- Services for Raymond L. Shy, of Davenport, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Runge Mortuary chapel. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 8-9 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Mr. Shy died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center. He was a self-employed painter contractor. He was born April 10, 1910, in Richland, Iowa. He married Mary Owen in 1935 in Fairfield, Iowa. She died March 17, 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Yeager, Tempe, Ariz.; a son, Larry, Bettendorf; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Gene, Fairfield; and a sister, Pauline Braund, Jensen Beach, Fla.

Edward Jones
SILVIS, Ill. -- Services for Edward A. Jones Sr., of Silvis, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitaion is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Mr. Jones died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. He retired in 1987 from Moline Forge Co. as a machine repairman. He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Chillicothe, Ill. He married Margaret Roberts in 1946 in Chicago. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathryn Orwig, Woodbridge, Va; a son, Edward, Silvis; sisters, Velma Calvin, Chillicothe, and Florence Bowen, Prairie City; brother, Roger, Peoria; and one granddaughter.

Drake Long
MOLINE -- Services for Drake F. Long-day-old son of Steven and Stephanie (Cullor) Long, of Moline, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Chippiannock Cemetery , Rock Island. Drake died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Drake was born April 10, 1999, in Peoria. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund will be established. Survivors include his parents; brother, Blaine Cullor, at home; grandparents, Carol and Francis Cullor, Coal Valley, and Sandy and Charlie Chesman, Milan; and great-grandparents, Anna Zorbist, Moline, Louise Cullor, Milan, and May Frick, St. Paul, Minn. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Jack Long in 1998.

Edward Cross
WICKENBURG, Ariz. -- Graveside services for Edward J. Cross, of Wickenburg, formerly of Davenport, will be noon today at Phoenix Memorial Park. Mr. Cross died Wednesday, April 14, 1999. He was born Oct. 10, 1918, in St. Louis. Survivors include his wife, Lavone; daughters, Shirly Rassmussen, of Texas, and Maxine Mosley, of Virginia; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Raymond Shy

Albert Suter
ERIE, Ill. -- Services for Albert S. Suter, of Erie, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Erie Baptist Church. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery . Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Mr. Suter died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. He was born Dec. 18, 1914, in Winchester, to Floyd and Mary (Wild) Suter. He married Winifred Blair in Winchester. Albert grew up in the Winchester area. He moved to Erie to work for John Deere Spreader, East Moline, where he was employed for 30 years. He retired in 1971. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. Because of the area he grew up in, he became an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erie Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Anderson Weaver, Erie, and Betty and Cliff Warkins, Erie; a grandchild, Brad Weaver, who resides in Cape Coral, Fla., with his wife, Tammy, and his daughter, Albert's great-granddaughter, Miranda. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Decker.

Olin Crow
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Olin Crow of East Moline will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, where East Moline American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military services. A private visitation will be held at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Crow died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill. Olin was employed as a truck driver and farmed in Rock Island County and Schyler County in Missouri. He was an avid horseman. He was born in Schyler Co., Mo., to Edgar and Minnie (Martin) Crow. He married Mary L. Johanson on Sept. 16, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa. He was a decorated World War II Army veteran. Memorial may be made to Msgr. William J. Cleary Endowment Fund or a charity of choice. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa "Missy" and David Dell Sr., Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter "Butch" and Cheryl Crow, Moline; grandchildren, Amy Buckwalter, Joy Jacquin, David Dell Jr. and Adam Dell; and great-grandchildren, Katlin Jacquin and Annah Buckwalter.

Della Trainor
DAVENPORT -- Services for Della M. Trainor, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Trainor died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Delia was employed 22 years as a meat packer at Oscar Mayer Foods Corp. She retired in 1972. After retirement, Della and James loved to travel around the United States. Della was born Feb. 9, 1910, in Buffalo, Iowa, to William and Lula (Myers) Roe. She married James Trainor on Nov. 11, 1929, in Davenport. He died Aug. 28, 1989. Della was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and CASI. She was an avid card player. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous, American Cancer Society or Davenport Friendly House. Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Roe, Aledo, Ill.; sons, James Trainor and his spouse, Lisel, Camarillo, Calif., Patrick Trainor and his spouse Sherry, Rock Island; daughters, Betty (Mrs. Ben) Hensler, Davenport, and Mary (Mrs. Stephen) McFarland, Davenport; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Della was preceded in death by a twin brother and sister, Rueben Roe and Ruby Gabriel.

Joseph Nahra
DAVENPORT -- Joseph Anthony Nahra of Davenport died Friday, April 16, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport, with military services conducted. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Joe was the oldest son of Hassan and Jamelia (Yamen) Nahra. Joe was raised in Davenport and Bettendorf and graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport and Hayes Military School in Hayes, Kan. He attended St. Ambrose College. On May 6, 1943, Joe married Jeanette A. Otto at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Davenport. During World War II, Joe was a flight instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He received several decorations and citations for his service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 26. Joe was the owner of Nahra Sheet Metal Shop of Bettendorf. He was an active member of the Quad-City Homebuilder's Association. He and his wife Jeanette were leaders in the salvaging and restoration of the Col. George Davenport Home on Arsenal Island. He recognized the value of public service and assisted in numerous community projects including serving on the Davenport Citizens Advisory Committee. Joe was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the great outdoors. He was a Golden Gloves boxing champion. He also was a Grand American Trapshooting champion. He was a lifelong member of the Izaak Walton League. Joe loved life. He was an excellent ballroom dancer and a square dance caller and instructor. He was former president of the Iowa Square and Round Dance Association. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport. Joe also was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Loras General Assembly. Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or Assumption High School. Most importantly, Joe loved his family. He is survived his wife, Jeanette and children, Honorable John A. Nahra and Diane Nahra and family of Davenport; Jeanine A. Nahra and Joe Falcone and Angela of New Orleans; Jennifer A. Nahra and Greg Levi and Alicia of Davenport; Jeffrey A. and Darcie Nahra and family of Davenport; Jeanette Phillips and family of Billings, Mont.; Dr. Janice Friedel and family of Clive, Iowa; Joan Long and family of Davenport; and Jacque McDonald and family of Davenport. His oldest son Joseph died in January 1998.

Frank Belieu
DAVENPORT -- Services for Frank R. Belieu, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Mr. Belieu died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his home. Mr. Belieu owned and operated Belieu's Design Salon in Davenport. He was born Oct. 22, 1957, in Des Moines, to Robert and Wava (Work) Belieu. He married Jill Martin in 1989 in Newton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was an avid Harley Davidson fan and also enjoyed running. He had run in many Quad-City Times Bix 7 races. Frank was a very kind and caring person and was well-loved in the community. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Misty; a son, Michael; his parents, Robert and Wava Belieu, New Virginia, Iowa; brothers, Mark, New Virginia, and Jeff, Des Moines; and his grandmother, Wanda Work, New Virginia.

Florence LaFeber
DAVENPORT -- Services for Florence LaFeber, of Davenport, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 3-6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. LaFeber died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Country House Residences, Davenport. Florence Hook was born May 31, 1909, in Edgewood, Iowa, to Samuel and Frances (Ingles) Hook. She married Joseph C. LaFeber on Dec. 2, 1933, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Davenport. He died May 1, 1991. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Country House Residences, Davenport. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Donna Williams, Davenport, Joseph and Bonita LaFeber, Galesburg, Ill., and Roger and Kathleen LaFeber, DeForest, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; 10 brothers and sisters; and a great-granddaughter.

Nelda Wicks
DAVENPORT -- Memorial services for Nelda Wicks, of Davenport, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery , Clinton, Iowa. Miss Wicks died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. She was employed at the Handicapped Development Center, Davenport. She was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Burr Oak, Iowa. Survivors include sisters, Mavis Evans, of California, and Joyce Chrystal, Des Moines; and brothers, Robert Wick, of Florida, Norven Wicks, Davenport, Dale Wicks, Muscatine, Iowa, Gayle Wicks, Moline, and Lee Wicks, of Kansas.

Margaretta Steinmann
DAVENPORT -- Services for Margaretta D. Steinmann, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Kahl Home Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Steinmann died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Kahl Home for the Aged and Infirm, Davenport. Margaretta Werthmann was born Jan. 22, 1907, in Davenport. She married Oswald Steinmann in 1926 in Wheaton, Ill. She was co-owner and operator of Willow Stream Mobile Home Estate of Eldridge, Iowa, with her husband. They also farmed in the Scott County area for more than 30 years. He died in 1989. Memorials may be made to Kahl Home or St. Anthony's Care and Share. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Newkirk, Davenport; a son, Bradford E., Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Frank Hemping
SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. -- Frank E. "Bud" Hemping, of Sun City Center, formerly of Davenport, died April 15, 1999, at his home. Lewer Funeral Home, Ruskin, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hemping was employed as a salesman in the furniture industry. He was born in Davenport. Survivors include his wife, Isabel; a daughter, Patricia Burge, Aurora, Ohio; a son, Steven E., Timonium, Md.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Delores Eckert
MOLINE -- Delores E. Eckert, of Moline, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was employed as chief telephone operator at the former East Moline State Hospital for 38 years. She retired in 1978. Delores Page was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Rock Island. She married Thomas Rosborough in 1930 in Moline. He died in 1937. She married Claire "Gene" Eckert in 1974 in Moline. He died in1982. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Moline, or a favorite charity. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Wood, Moline; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
