BETTENDORF -- Henry E. "Ernie" Elges, of Bettendorf, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a sudden illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, where he was a member. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Mr. Elges was employed as an industrial specialist at Rock Island Arsenal since April 1984. He was born Jan. 11, 1943, in Canton, Ohio, to Henry R. and Erika (Guth) Elges, and was a graduate of Akron University, Akron, Ohio. He married Cheri L. Dillow in Bettendorf on Oct. 11, 1986. In addition to the church, he was a member of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 15. Among the things he enjoyed were H.O. model railroading, football and bowling. He volunteered many hours coaching the Bombers, a youth bowling team. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Chris Hansen and her husband, David, Los Angeles, and Carol Meyer, Milwaukee; sons, Jeremy, Tucson, Ariz., Joshua, Iowa City, and his twin sons, Andrew and Zachary, both at home; a granddaughter; three grandsons; his parents, Henry and Erika Elges, Wooster, Ohio; a sister, Mary McMillen and her husband, Jon, Wooster; and a brother, Robert Elges and his wife, Susan, Wooster.

Mabel Arp
BETTENDORF -- Services for Mabel M. Arp, of Bettendorf Healthcare, formerly of Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Mrs. Arp died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at the healthcare center. Mabel Roehlk was born July 31, 1901, in Scott County. She married Arnold Arp in 1922 in Davenport. They farmed 30 years in the Maysville area before retiring in 1951. He died in 1985. Survivors include daughters, Lenora Paulsen, Durant, Iowa, Jean Rock, Dixon, Iowa, Phyllis Miller, Davenport, and Shirley Fidlar, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Lester, Davenport; 13 grandchildren, 30 great- grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Maxine Green Foutch
COAL VALLEY, Ill. -- Maxine Green Foutch, of Coal Valley, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Burial will be in Coal Valley Cemetery . Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Foutch retired in 1985 as a seamstress after 25 years at Seaford Clothing Co., Rock Island. Maxine Chockley was born June 1, 1923, in Schuyler County. She married Roy Green in 1949 in Moline. He died in 1982. She married Tim Foutch in 1989 in Moline. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Mary Nice, Lynn Center, and Donna Miller, Milan; a son, Donald Green, Woodstock; a stepson, Tim Foutch Jr., Orion; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ella Ziesler, Macomb.

Robert Hamilton
GENESEO, Ill. -- Services for Robert "R.J." Hamilton-year-old son of Jerry and Patricia Hamilton, Geneseo, will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services Inc., Geneseo. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery , Geneseo. Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Robert died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his home. He was a junior at J.D. Darnall High School, Geneseo. He was born May 28, 1982, in Moline. Memorials may be made to the R.J. Hamilton Memorial Fund. Survivors, in addition to his parents, includes brothers, Jerry D. II, Unionville, Mo., and Michael, at home; and grandparents, James and Wilma Kernan, Aledo.

Marybell Hobart
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Marybell Hobart, of Bettendorf Health Care Center, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at the care center. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Visitation is noon to 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Marybell Gilmore was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Joy, Ill. She married Harold Hobart in 1927 in Rockford, Ill. Memorials may be made to Marybell Hobart Memorial Fund. Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Grady, Bettendorf; a stepdaughter, Hilda Johns, Muscatine; a grandson; and a stepsister, Betty Engstrom, Beason, Ariz.

Margaret Haylock
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Margaret M. Haylock, of 1635 Fairway Drive, will be noon Monday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a Women of the Moose service at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Haylock died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. She was a homemaker. Margaret Dunlavy was born May 22, 1919, in Petersville. She married LeRoy Haylock in 1942 in DeWitt. He died in 1978. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Matje, Walcott; a son, John "Jack," Las Vegas; four grandchildren; sisters, Helen Callens, Las Vegas, and Ruth Hlubek, DeWitt; and brothers, Francis and Joe Dunlavy, both of Clinton, and James Dunlavy, Younkers, N.Y.

Ruth Rhame
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Ruth R. Rhame, of 1100 17th Ave. N., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Mrs. Rhame died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her home. She was employed as a cosmetologist in Iowa and North Carolina and had worked at Potter's Greenhouse, Clinton. Ruth Steinke was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Sigourney. She married John Rhame Jr. in 1946 in Durham, N.C. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Radio Mission League or Samaritan Hospice. Survivors include her husband; sons, John M. III, Portage, Ind., Robert J., Cedar Rapids, and Daniel S., Wheaton, Ill.; seven grandchildren; sisters, Pearl Bittorf, Lake Mills, Wis., and Lena Burgdorf, Plano, Texas; and brothers, Robert Steinke, San Antonio, and Walter Steinke, Gibson.

Marie Lukavsky
COLUMBUS JCT., Iowa -- Services for Marie L. Lukavsky, of Columbus Junction, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery . Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Lukavsky died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. She retired in 1982 after 23 years at McCleery Cummings Calendar Factory, Washington, Iowa. Marie Helfrich was born March 23, 1920, near Ainsworth. She married Harold Lukavsky in 1939 in Riverside. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Carol Dawson, Cedar Rapids; sons, Duane and Fred, both of Columbus Junction; six grandsons; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Dora Lukavsky, Washington, Iowa, and Fern Dahnke, Iowa City; and a brother, Francis Helfrich, Wilton.

Jean Hocke
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for C. Jean Hocke, of 2421 Lutheran Drive, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hocke died Wednesday, April 15, 1999, at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine. She worked many years in the office at H.J. Heinz. Jean Lemkau was born Aug. 12, 1915, in Muscatine. She married Lyle John Hocke in 1938 in Muscatine. He died in 1989. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Bell Choir. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary Knuttila, and a stepson, Thomas Hocke, both of Park Rapids, Minn.; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Sallye Ann Causemaker
ATKINSON, Ill. -- Sallye Ann Causemaker, of Atkinson, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at her home. Mass of the Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Atkinson. The Rev. Robert Lee will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery , Atkinson. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 3 p.m.; a parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., both at the funeral home. Sallye Ann Ferry was born March 9, 1941, in Moline, to Guy and Helen (DePover) Ferry. She married Stanley "Toot" Causemaker on July 9, 1960, in Moline. Sallye had been the coordinator of the St. Anne's Catholic School Lunch Program. She later worked in the cafeteria at the East Moline School System 37 and last worked in the cafeteria at the Perry-Meridian High School, Indianapolis, where they resided for Stanley's job with International. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church and Atkinson Women's Club. She also had enjoyed playing rolle bolle. Memorials may be made to Atkinson Rescue Squad or St. Anthony's Cemetery . Survivors include her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Karlene and Dan Olson, Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Susan Causemaker, Norfolk, Va., Dan and Andrea Causemaker, Indianapolis, and David Causemaker, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Dustin, Dakota and Cameron Causemaker; her mother, Helen Ferry, Moline; sisters, Carol and Jim Peters, Hales Corners, Wis., and Ilene and Bob DiePenBrock, Roselle; and special friends, Carolyn and John Larrison, Hampton. She was preceded in death by two nephews, Robert Peters and Brian Causemaker; and her father, Guy Ferry.

Doris Fisher
ROCK ISLAND -- Doris H. Fisher, of 2056 46th St., died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at her home. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Fisher was employed 12 years as a claims officer at Illinois State Unemployment Department at the Moline office. She retired in 1969. Doris Lindholme was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Moline. She married Harold Fisher in 1941 in Rapids City, Ill. He died March 21, 1989. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, or American Cancer Society. Survivors include a son, Harold "Tony," Moline; two grandsons; a step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Henry, East Moline; and a brother, Roy "Cully" Lindholme, Las Vegas.

William Jordan
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for William H. Jordan, of Rock Island, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D., will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. There is no visitation. Private burial will be Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery , Sioux Falls, with a memorial service at First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. Mr. Jordan died Friday, April 16, 1999, at his home. William was born Jan. 11, 1910, in Sioux Falls, to Arthur and Grace Jordan. He attended Sioux Falls public schools. He graduated from the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He married Helen E. Moen on Dec. 25, 1934, in Sioux Falls. She died in January 1987. He joined his father and brother, Jim, in 1936 in a small fledging wholesale millwork operation, Jordan Millwork. Along with his brother, he built the company into one of the leading millwork houses in the nation. He retired in 1975. In 1991, he moved to Rock Island. His love for Mother Nature included hunting, fishing and golfing. He had the ability to lighten up any situation and never met a South Dakotan he did not like. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity, Sioux Falls YMCA board, Rotary Club board, chairman of John Bradford District of Boy Scouts, member of the board of trustees of First Lutheran Church of Sioux Falls, chairman of United Way fund drive, president of Sioux Valley Hospital Board of Directors, and member of Unity Lodge 130, Oriental Consistory and El Raid Shrine of Sioux Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials my be made to Bethany for Children and Families, Moline. His survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Stuart Thoms, Rock Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lynn Jordan, Scottsdale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, A.J. Jr. and Ann Jordan, Green Valley, Ariz. His brother, Martin F. Jordan, died in 1986.

Ferne Shaw
DAVENPORT -- Services for Ferne E. Shaw, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery , Bennett, Iowa. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Shaw died Saturday, April 17, 1999, in Davenport. She retired in 1953 after 20 years as a sales clerk at Hills Department Store. Ferne Ayers was born March 25, 1903, in Bennett. She married Allen Shaw in 1946 in Davenport. He died in 1982. Survivors include grandchildren, Suanne Sammon, Judy Trego, David Schrempf and Jeanne DeLay; and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Millard
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Dorothy A. Millard, of Orlando, formerly of Rock Island, died April 7, 1999, at her home. Memorial services were April 10 at St. Joseph Church, Orlando. The body was cremated. Mrs. Millard had retired from International Harvester, Farmall Works, Rock Island. Dorothy Schroeder was born Oct. 30, 1914. She married Herbert Millard. He died in 1992. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include a daughter, Pam Mosenfelder, Rock Island; sons, Joe, Carrollton, Texas, and Herb, Overland Park, Kan.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Grams, Rock Island.

Margaret Anderson
ORION, Ill. -- Services for Margaret E. Anderson, of Palmyra, Mo., will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., Orion. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery , Orion. Mrs. Anderson died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Palmyra. Margaret Oltman was born April 16, 1912, in Geneseo. She married Daniel Anderson in 1931 in Springfield. Memorials may be made to Palmyra United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; sons, Robert E., Silvis, and Daniel S. Jr., Fairfax, Va.; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Oltman, Gainesville, Fla.

REYNOLDS, Ill. -- Memorial Services for Gloria J. Ruggles, of Reynolds, will be 4 p.m. April 24 at Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church, Hamlet. Mrs. Ruggles died Friday, April 16, 1999, at her home. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements. She had worked until 1978 at Hamlet Mutual Insurance. Gloria Litwiler was born April 15, 1944, in Rock Island. She married Burris Ruggles in 1962 in Kewanee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include her husband; sons, Jamie J., Pleasant Valley, Iowa, and Bradley B., Rock Island; four grandchildren; sisters, Priscilla Kenney, Karen King and Joyce Hajostek, all of Aledo, and Jacklyn Ferguson, New Windsor; and brothers, Roy Litwiler, of Texas, and John Litwiler, Aledo.

Marian Alvine
SILVIS, Ill. -- Marian Littig Alvine, of Silvis, died Saturday, April 17, 1999. Mrs. Alvine retired in 1969 from teaching. She was born May 6, 1906, in Rock Island. Survivors include two sons; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Ewoldt
TRAER, Iowa -- Services for Helen Ewoldt, of Traer, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Traer. Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery , rural Clutler. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer. Mrs. Ewoldt died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Sunrise Hill Care Center, Traer, after an extended illness. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Bratton, Atkins; a son, Gary, Davenport; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Stella Waterbury, Waterloo; and a brother, Oryne Kersten, Dysart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 1990.
