MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for John J. Sprouse, of 2519 Lucas St., will be 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine, with military services by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Mr. Sprouse died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He was employed 31 years at office manager at Krieger Motors. He was born June 1, 1921, in West Grove. He married Betty Gremmel in 1946 in Muscatine. During World War II, he served with the Army in the European Theater Medical Corps at the 58th Station Hospital. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Muscatine. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Christine Leech, Muscatine, and Claudia Pospishil, Iowa City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Maxine Gipple, Ainsworth, and Madeline Loga and Phyllis Sywassink, both of Muscatine.

John McKnight
SEATON, Ill. -- Services for John I. McKnight, of Seaton, will be noon today at McClure Cemetery , rural Seaton. Visitation is 10:30 a.m. to noon today at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. Mr. McKnight died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Oak Glen Nursing Home, Coal Valley. He founded McKnight Trucking in December 1955. Before that, he farmed in Suez Township, where he also was road commissioner. He was born June 1, 1916 in Chicago. He married Dorothy Kernan in 1938 in Alexis. She died in 1991. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John I. McKnight Memorial Fund. Survivors include daughters, Barbara Robinson and Mary Vipond, both of Aledo; a son, Charles, Brookville, Pa.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Hazel Dudley
SAVANNA, Ill. -- Services for Hazel V. Dudley, of Savanna, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery . Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Dudley died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. She was employed as a court reporter and a secretary in the Savanna area. She retired in 1972. Hazel Hatfield was born April 4, 1910, in Savanna. She married Frank Dudley in 1930 in Chicago. He died in 1984. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church. Survivors include nieces, Becky Dannels, Savanna, Robin Brinkley, Gastonia, N.C., and Jodie Warman, Canon City, Colo.; and a nephew, Bill Hatfield, Savanna.

Genevieve Leighty
TIPTON, Iowa -- Services for Genevieve E. Leighty, of 1005 Sycamore St., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery . Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Leighty died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after an extended illness. She was a homemaker. Genevieve Schwitzer was born Feb. 11, 1915, in Tipton. She married Roy Leighty in 1932 in Rock Island. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a daughter, LaDonna Andresen, Fontana, Calif.; sons, Russell, West Branch, and William and Jerry, both of Tipton; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Luella Goodale, Tipton, Marion Kula, Independence, and Elaine Kiefer, West Liberty; and brothers, Werner Schwitzer, Cedar Rapids, and Orey Schwitzer, Iowa City.

Clifford Crafton
CONESVILLE, Iowa -- Services for Clifford D. Crafton, of Conesville, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Conesville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Conesville Cemetery . Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, with the family present 5-7 p.m. Mr. Crafton died Friday, April 23, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. He worked 36 years at Hon Co. Oak Steel Plant. He was born May 11, 1936, in Birmingham. He married Joan Schmidt in 1956 in Birmingham. Memorials may be made to the Conesville church and Hospice. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Cinthia Forbes, Conesville, and Terri MacEachern, Columbus Junction; three grandchildren; his mother, Edna Crafton, Birmingham; a sister, Dixon Crafton, Waterloo; and brothers, Delbert, West Burlington, and C. Veryl, Drakesville.

William Goebel
CHILLICOTHE, Ill. -- Services for William F. Goebel, formerly of Davenport, were held April 12 at St. Edward's Church, Chillicothe. Mr. Goebel died April 7, 1999, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria. He retired in 1980 as a planning engineer after 41 years at Caterpillar, East Peoria, Mossville and Mount Joy, Iowa. He was born July 10, 1921, in Secor. He married Alba Ghezzo in 1947. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Maria Goebel, Schaumburg; sons, Gerald, Davenport, Steven, Milan, David, Mount Zion, and Thomas, Schaumburg; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Mardel Brandt, Peoria, Thyra Myer and Henrietta Ritchie, both of Eureka, and Belle Chismark, Chillicothe; and brothers, George, Washington, Ill., Stanley, of Arizona, and Lee, of Missouri.

Philip Conway
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Philip B. Conway, of Muscatine, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine, with a rosary at 8 p.m. Mr. Conway died Friday, April 23, 1999, at his home. He worked 25 years at Roach & Musser and 14 years at Thatcher Glass Co. He was born Sept. 24, 1912, in Muscatine. He married Lucille Harper in 1934 in Muscatine. She died in 1992. Survivors include daughters, Janet Godwin, Iowa City, and Mary Flagel, Maquoketa; sons, John and Dennis, both of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Harold Nelson
CLINTON, Iowa -- Harold W. Nelson, of Clinton, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at his home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Springdale Cemetery , Clinton. Private visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Mr. Nelson was employed by the Clinton Fire Department from 1939 to 1974. In 1943, he became fire chief, a position he held for more than 30 years. He was born Dec. 30, 1904, in Clinton, He married Beulah Tubbs in 1940 in Clinton. Survivors include his wife.

Mary Bundy
DAVENPORT -- Services for Mary C. Bundy, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mrs. Bundy died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Davenport Medical Center. Mary Connelly was born June 4, 1910, in Davenport, to Thomas and Mary (Dolphin) Connelly. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy. She married Ralph Delinger in 1934 in Davenport. He preceded her in death. Mary was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She loved to dance and play bingo. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Care and Share or Mississippi Valley Alzheimer's Association. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Paul Schmeisser, Peoria, Ill., Marilyn and David McAninch, Davenport, Patricia and Clyde Wilsey, Pensacola, Fla., and Linda Bundy, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Lodama Delinger, Liberty, Mo., Lee and Gloria Delinger, Washington, Ill., Edwin and Joanna Delinger, Salt Lake City, and Jerry Delinger, Davenport; daughters-in-law, Barbara and Carolyn Delinger, both of Davenport; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Dorothy Schafer, of Arizona. She was preceded in death by grandsons, Don Delinger Jr. and Gregory Delinger; a brother, Tom Connelly; and sisters, Rita Andrews and Rose Fiedler. May they rest in peace.

Patricia Ross
DAYTON, Ohio -- Patricia A. Ross, of Dayton, formerly of Bettendorf, died Saturday, April 25, 1999, at her home. Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Centerville. The Rev. Jim Zingale will officiate. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Routsong Funeral Home, Centerville, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Ross was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, Bethany Lutheran Village and Lincoln Park Manor. She also enjoyed crafts, bridge, euchre, golf, bowling and hiking. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dayton, P.O. Box 3509, Dayton, Ohio 45401-3509. Patricia is survived by her husband, Marvin Ross; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Carol Ross, Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Richard Vander Horst, Rochester, N.Y.; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Sheila Rury, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Kristen, Sandra and Stephen Ross and Andrew and Melinda Vander Horst; and many nieces and nephews.

Allen Meyer
DAVENPORT -- Allen H. Meyer, of Davenport, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Mr. Meyer was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Davenport, to Hugo A. and Erma (Leptein) Meyer. He married Alice Bernauer in February 1940 in Davenport. They farmed north of Davenport on the farm he grew up on. He was employed by Scott County Road Department for 20 years. Before that, he drove a school bus for North Scott School District. Allen loved farming with his son Dennis and playing cards with his friends at Slagles and Hardees. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Janice and Lois Meyer, both of Davenport; a son, Glen Meyer, Davenport; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Paulette Meyer, Davenport; grandchildren, Christopher, Brandy, Lois, Peggy, Donald, Tim, Terry and Jennifer, all of Davenport; great-grandchildren, Angel, Amber and Karlie Rene, all of Davenport; and a sister, Arlene Clark, LeClaire, Iowa.

Sarah Barker
DAVENPORT -- Sarah I. Barker, of Davenport, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. She has gone home to the loving arms of our Lord. Services will be noon Monday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Barker was employed 26 years as a sales clerk at Petersen Harned Von Maur, Davenport. She retired in 1979. Sarah Irene Hopley was born May 7, 1914, in Sheffield, England, to James and Mary (Bell) Hopley. She married Perry L. Barker on Feb. 25, 1941, in Davenport. He died in 1986. She was a member of Cedar Memorial Christian Church, Trinity Chapter 541 Order of Eastern Star and Von Maur Retirees Club. Her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Survivors include daughters, Patricia Phillips, Davenport, and Sandra Southworth, Davenport; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Barker, Frankfort, Ill.; granddaughters, Jaime Barker, Davenport, Robin Greaves and spouse Jeff, Palatine, Ill., and Rhonda Furmanek and spouse Tim, Orland Park, Ill.; grandsons, Jeff Phillips and spouse Christi, Davenport, Mark Barker, Davenport, and Chad Phillips, Camp Le Juene, N.C.; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Szymski, Niles, Ill., and Catherine Fecteau, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, James Hopley Jr., Wilsonville, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Jan Hopley, Rock Island. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annis Korpak; and a brother, Jack Hopley.

Leroy Ralfs
WALCOTT, Iowa -- Leroy Ralfs, of Walcott, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mr. Ralfs owned and operated his own farm until retiring in 1979. He was born Sept. 20, 1919, in rural Scott County, to Herman and Emma (Knaack) Ralfs. He married Marge Ruefer in 1941 in Davenport. She died in 1960. In 1962, he married Audra Skinner in Andalusia, Ill. He enjoyed playing cards and golfing. He was a past member of the Walcott Community Club and past director of the Walcott Farmers Elevator. He also was a past member of the Moose Lodge and Elks in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Walcott Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Mary Ralfs, Davenport, Daniel and Bonnie Ralfs, Walcott, and Chris and Diana Skinner, West Plaines, Mo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Millie Ralfs, Henry and Nola Ralfs and Harry and Jean Ralfs, all of Davenport. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Skinner, in 1974; and brothers, Edward and Raymond Ralfs.

Lila Trapkus
DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Services for Lila Ann Trapkus, of St. Mary's Apartments, 2955 Kaufmann Ave., formerly of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Platteville, Wis. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. today at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque. Mrs. Trapkus died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Lila Fields was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Moline, to James F. and Pernnie (Eddy) Fields. She married Stanley C. Trapkus on Jan. 25, 1944, in Rock Island. She graduated in 1939 from Rock Island High School and then attended Augustana College, Rock Island. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Dubuque, and a former member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, where she served as church clerk, a Sunday school teacher and altar counselor. Memorials may be made to Lila Ann Trapkus Memorial Fund. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sara L. Stotmeister, Platteville; a son and daughter-in-law, David S. and Mary Trapkus, Peru, Ill.; and grandchildren, Laura and Peter Trapkus and Eve, Shane, Luke, Charity, Grace and Emily Stotmeister. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elva Vivian Faucett and Violet Walker; and brothers, Everett and Leo Fields.

ROCK ISLAND -- Memorial services for Dorothy M. Shehorn, of Tualatin, Ore., will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Assembly of God, Rock Island. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Island Memorial Park. Mrs. Shehorn died Friday, April 23, 1999. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy Tompkins was born May 22, 1926, in Andalusia, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Bethel Assembly of God. Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Shehorn, Tualatin; a stepdaughter, Judith Randolph, Eagle, Idaho; stepsons, Rick and Stephen Shehorn, both of Tigard, Ore.; five step-grandchildren; sisters, Irva Bealer, Dahinda, Ill., and Charlene Lyon, Rock Island; and a brother, Wayne Tompkins, Tualatin.

Eveah Donmoyer
ERIE, Ill. -- Services for Eveah E. Donmoyer, of Erie, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Donmoyer died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Prophet's Riverview Center, Prophetstown. She retired from the former East Moline State Hospital. Eveah Austin was born Feb. 1, 1908, in Norris City. She married Rushen Pearce. He preceded her in death. She later married Charles Donmoyer. He also preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to Erie Ambulance service. Survivors include a daughter, Doris Whitney, Lansing; sons, Max Pearce, Erie, and Charles Gale and Luz Donmoyer, Accra, Ghana, West Africa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

GENESEO, Ill. -- Services for Helen Radue, of Geneseo, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wright Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery , Geneseo. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Radue died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Helen Rogers was born May 24, 1913, in Morristown. She married Harlan Radue in 1934 in Morristown. He died in 1983. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society. Survivors include daughters, Mona Claeys and Debbie Heller, both of Geneseo, and Katherine Firch, Rockford; sons, Roger and Max, both of Geneseo; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Warren Rogers, East Moline.
