Lavon Williams
SILVIS, Ill. -- Services for Lavon N. Williams, of Silvis will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Presbyterian Church, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Mrs. Williams died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Loyola University Hospital, Westchester, Ill. She was employed at the former Moline Public Hospital and later worked in the office of Dr. C.S. Costigan. She was employed as a relief nurse at the John Deere Plants. She retired in 1980 after 34 years in the nursing profession. Lavon Stoehr was born May 19, 1921, in Moline, to Norman and Nellie (Lofgren) Stoehr. She married James D. Williams on Dec. 1, 1946, in Rock Island. She graduated from Moline High School and received her registered nursing degree under the Army Nurse Cadet Corps in 1946. Mrs. Williams was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was on the Deacon's Board and was a youth sponsor. In later years, she served as a volunteer for Christian Friendliness as a tutor and also worked in the food pantry. Memorials may be made to the family or Christian Friendliness. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Diane L. Anderson and spouse, Kim R., Moline, and Linda J. Tipton and spouse Chris, Moline; sons, Thomas K. Williams and spouse, Sally, East Moline, and David J. Williams and spouse Linda, Moline; 13 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Betty L. Engdahl, Baton Rouge, La.; and a sister-in- law, Rosalie Stoehr, East Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Stoehr.

Bernard Oneil
MOLINE -- Bernard G. "Barney" Oneil, of Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Moline, died March 14, 1999, at Baxter Memorial Hospital, Mountain Home. A memorial visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. A private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery , Rock Island. He retired as an engineer on the Rock Island Lines. He also was a figure eight stock car driver for several years at East Moline Speedway. He later owned Steve's Barber Shop in Davenport. Barney was born July 31, 1928, in Lansing, Ill., to Bernard and Anna "Lucy" Oneil. He was an Air Force Veteran of World War II. Memorials may be made to Masses, the Cowley Babies in Arkansas, a favorite charity or the family. Survivors include his wife, Diane, Mountain Home, Ark.; daughters, Deb White, North Port, Fla., Robin Attwood, Davenport, Kim Oneil, Kansas City, Mo., Teresea Grigg, Yellville, Ark., and Jennifer Mayo, Tyler, Texas; sons, John Oneil, Fort Collins, Colo., Mike Oneil, North Port, Fla., Tony Oneil, Moline, and Larry Oneil, Moline, and Stephen Oneil, Mountain Home, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sisters, Peggy Chambers, Chicago, Pat York, Moline, and Jean Damp, Louisville, Ky. He was preceded by a son, Tom; and a sister, Alice Lundeen.

Lyle Walker
WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- L. Lyle Walker, of West Liberty, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, due to pneumonia at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at West Liberty United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery , West Liberty. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty, with the family present 6-8 p.m. Mr. Walker was employed in early years as a butter maker at West Liberty Creamery and refereed basketball games. Upon his return from military service, he returned to work at the creamery. He later worked for Kenny Hintz at his gas station and then was manager at the Sinclair Gas Station and was employed as a truck driver for Rohner Machine Works. He retired in 1983. He was born Sept. 17, 1921, near West Liberty. He married Susannah Walker in 1941 in Kahoka, Mo. During World War II, he served as an aviation ordinance man with the Navy. He spent eight months in the South Pacific. Memorials may be made to West Liberty Fire Department or West Liberty Rescue Unit. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marilyn Stagg, Iowa City; sons, Larry, Ankeny, and Randy, Johnston; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Bach, Phyllis Beach, Lois Kirby and Audrey VeDepo, all of West Liberty; and brothers, Kenneth, West Liberty, Gaylord, Honolulu, and Jim, Atalissa.

Selma Noe
MOLINE -- Selma M. Noe, formerly of Moline, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , Moline. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 2 p.m. by the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society. Selma Loete was born April 8, 1904, in St. Laurent, Belgium. She married Oscar Noe in 1931 in Moline. He died in 1975. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a son, Richard L., Silvis, Ill.

Dennis Wold
DeWITT, Iowa -- Services for Dennis D. Wold, of DeWitt, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery , DeWitt. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Mr. Wold died Saturday, April 3, 1999, in a two-vehicle accident coming home from work near Grand Mound. He had worked at Davisson Tiling. He was born Sept. 12, 1959, in DeWitt. He married Laura Smith in 1983 in DeWitt. Memorials may be made to his sons' educational fund. Survivors include his wife; sons, Joshua D. and Jared D., both at home; his parents, David and Barbara Wold, DeWitt; a sister, Denise Wold, DeWitt; and grandmothers, Myrna Hospadarsky and Lois Wold, both of DeWitt.

Virginia Roth
MOLINE -- Services for Virginia L. Roth, of 5105 7th Ave., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military services by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Roth died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. She retired after 25 years at Aldens Inc. of Chicago. Virginia Anderson was born March 12, 1923, in Evanston, Ill. While serving as a surgical technician in the U.S. Army during World War II, she was stationed at Vaughan General Hospital, Hines, Ill. She was assigned to returning POWs. One of these was Albert Leonard Roth, who had been taken prisoner by the Japanese on Corregidor. They were married in 1946 in the chapel at Hines. Memorials may be made to Elim Covenant Church, Moline, or the National Kidney Foundation. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Roth; sons, Albert Jr. and Craig C.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert, Eugene and Lawrence Anderson.

Minnie Wenndt
LOWDEN, Iowa -- Minnie A. Wenndt, of Lowden, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at her home, after a brief illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery , Lowden. Visitation is 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence. Minnie Deerberg was born Feb. 1, 1909, in Lowden. She married Carl Wenndt in 1931 in Lowden. They farmed northeast of Lowden until 1971. He died in 1996. Survivors include sons, Lavern, Cedar Rapids, Lawrence, Norcross, Ga., and David, Kent, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

LeRoy Nickell
MILAN, Ill. -- LeRoy C. Nickell, of Milan, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Private services will be held. Msgr. Dale Wellman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Mr. Nickell was employed as an electrician at the former J I Case. He retired in 1986. He was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Rock Island, to Charles and Martha (Koester) Nickell. He married Rosalee Gura on April 27, 1946, in Rock Island. During World War II, he served in the Navy at Normandy Beach. He also served in the Mediterranean. He had received numerous medals. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan; a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars; a member of Moline American Legion Post 246; a former member of Rock Island Moose Lodge; and a member of United Auto Workers Skilled Trades Local, Rock Island. He enjoyed appliance repair and riverboats. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Debbie Johnston and spouse Joe, Milan, and Kim Cather and spouse Woody, Andalusia; a son, Gary Nickell and spouse Vickie, Milan; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Mary Whittington, Sherrard; brothers, Harold Nickell, Silvis, and Don Nickell, Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles.

Clarence Garrison
DAVENPORT -- Services for Clarence L. Garrison, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Garrison died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Crest Health Center, Davenport. He retired in 1977 from McGinnis Funeral Home in Bettendorf, where he had worked for 21 years. He formerly was employed as an operating engineer at the former Zoeller's Brewery, later known as Blackhawk Brewery of Davenport. He was born in Kent, Ohio, to Charles and Luella (Kelso) Garrison. Among the things he enjoyed were Dixieland music and skeet shooting. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include nieces, Alice Margaret Garrison and Ruth Ann Garrison, both of West Chicago, Ill.; nephews, Kenneth Charles Garrison and Robert Dwight Garrison, both of Davenport; grandnieces, Cheryl Klauer, Moline, Vicki Garrison, Rock Island, and Roxanne Carlson, Davenport; grandnephews, Hal Dean Garrison, Norman, Okla., and Bobby Garrison, Davenport; and great-grandnieces, Kimberly Garrison, Maranda Klauer, Rachel Klauer and Kelsey Klauer. Mr. Garrison was preceded in death by a sister, Margeret; brothers, Dwight and Max; and a nephew, Harold.

William Robinson
ROCK ISLAND -- William F. "Bill" Robinson of Rock Island died Friday, April 2, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island, after a brief illness. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. A memorial and celebration service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, officiated by the Rev. Ivan Fuller. Come and celebrate his life with us! Among survivors is his wife, Virginia. Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements.

Oneita Schmidt
BETTENDORF -- Oneita G. Schmidt, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Bettendorf Health Care Center. Private services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery , Chicago. Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Oneita Myers was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Moline. She married Robert Schmidt in 1945 in Blue Island, Ill. He died in 1974. Survivors include daughters, Dr. Linda Jabbari, Keokuk, Iowa, Cindy Morrison, Solon, Iowa, and Sandra Schmidt, Littleton, Colo.; a son, Raymond, Bettendorf; and six grandchildren.

Marilyn Anderson
GENESEO, Ill. -- Services for Marilyn M. Anderson, of Geneseo, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery , Geneseo. Mrs. Anderson died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at her home. She had worked at Quality Dairy, Orsi & Greens Store and Geneseo Telephone Co. Marilyn Butzer was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Geneseo. She married Richard Anderson in 1962 in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Mary Anderson and Julie Ritter, and a son, Roger, all of Geneseo; three grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria Nelson, Geneseo.

Richard Impens
MOLINE -- Services for H. Richard Impens, of 3002 15th St., will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military services by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a wake at 6 p.m. Mr. Impens died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He retired in 1982 after 30 years at John Deere Harvester, East Moline Works. He was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Moline. He married Alice Runyon 1948 in Moline. During World War II and the Korean War, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to the church or American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Michele Stoneking, Moline, and Gayle Doyle, Coal Valley, Ill.; sons, Richard A., East Moline, Ronald L., Tucson, Ariz., Jeffrey P., Adelaide, Australia, Patrick J., Rock Island, and Christopher M., Peoria, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and five great grand-children; and his parents, Richard and Elsie Impens, Moline.

Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery , Worth, Ill. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today at Blake Lamb Funeral Home, Oak Lawn. Mrs. Nolan died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at Kahl Home. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral, Davenport, is in charge of local arrangements. Clara Kubiak was born June 20, 1908, in Chicago. Memorials may be made to Carmelite Sisters, Davenport. Survivors include daughters, Irene Schmeier, Tinley Park, Ill., Sister Clara O'Carm, Davenport, and Ruth Plecki, Burbank, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Leonard Mc Evoy
WAPELLO, Iowa -- Services for Leonard W. Mc Evoy, of Wapello, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park, with military services. Mr. Mc Evoy died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at the home of his daughter. He retired in 1978 from HON. He was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Muscatine. He married Gloria Ricketts. She died in 1977. During World War II, he served as a cannoneer in the Army. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include daughters, Millie Estabrook and Reedie Stevens, both of Muscatine; a son, Jim, Dubuque; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Goodwin, Muscatine.

George Shick
LYNN CENTER, Ill. -- Private services for George W. Shick, of Lynn Center, will be 2:30 p.m. today at Alpha Cemetery . No visitation will be held. Mr. Shick died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, is in charge of arrangements. He was self-employed 17 years as a barber at Deere Administration Center, Moline. He then owned and operated George's Antique Auto Restoration Shop in Alpha. He was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Pittsburgh. He married Donna Tompkins in 1955 in Andalusia. He had served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Alpha Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dr. Colleen Scholz, Santa Fe, N.M.; a son, Scott, Denver; a grandson; and brothers, Dr. Sylvester, Lincoln, Neb., and Harry, Hawaii.

Wendell Drawyer
TOULON, Ill. -- Wendell B. Drawyer, of rural Toulon, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Toulon Health Care Center. The body was cremated. Memorial services will be later. Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Drawyer had worked at the former Walworth Co., Kewanee, and later at Chicago factories. He retired in 1985 from Illinois Tool Works, Elgin. He was born June 25, 1921, in rural Bradford. He married Eleanor Krapausky. During World War II, he served the 5th Army, 91st Division, in Northern Africa and Italy. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kayleen Isaac, and a son, Lanny, both of Elgin; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald, Sheffield; and a half brother, Vhoris Leadley, Dexter, Mo.
