EAST MOLINE -- Services for William J. Sandbothe, of East Moline, will be 10 am. Thursday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Mr. Sandbothe died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He had been employed since 1981 as a letter carrier at East Moline Post Office. He was born Feb. 29, 1960, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Memorial Heights United Methodist Church, Rock Island, or a favorite charity. Survivors include an aunt and several cousins.

Bertha Heater
MOLINE -- Services for Bertha E. Heater, formerly of Moline, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation is 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Columbus City (Iowa) Cemetery . Mrs. Heater died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. She was employed as a live-in companion for various people in Moline from 1970 to 1983. Before that, she was employed at a motel and a laundromat in Burlington, Iowa, and as a cook at the former Lutheran Hospital, Moline. Bertha Martin was born Nov. 26, 1907, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She married Earnest Heater in 1926 in Pleasanton, Iowa. He died in 1970. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include a son, Hadley Sr., Moline; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice Heater, Batavia, Iowa.

Lorna Anderson
ORION, Ill. -- Services for Lorna M. Anderson, formerly of Orion, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery . Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Mrs. Anderson died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline. Lorna Bergren was born Oct. 9, 1907, in Geneseo. She married Sherman Anderson in 1931 in Andover. He died April 2, 1991. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Yohanan, Winnetka; sons, Rodney, Rock Island, and Loran, Lynn Center; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.

Maurice Spaulding
MOLINE -- Services for Maurice W. Spaulding, formerly of Moline, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Mr. Spaulding died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline. He was employed as a machine operator at the former Rock Island Sash & Door Co. and later retired as a printer at Desaulniers Printers. He was born July 15, 1909, in Racine, Wis. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Union Congregational Church, Moline. Survivors include a niece, Sylvia Gross, Moline; and a nephew, Marlin Shull, Lansing, Mich.

Paul Fisher
GERVAIS, Ore. -- Paul L. Fisher, of Gervais, died March 28, 1999. Services were April 3 at First Presbyterian Church, Woodburn. Private burial will be in Gervais Masonic Cemetery , Gervais. Mr. Fisher was employed as an aircraft engineer and designed aircraft in California. He also was a frequent contributor of essays on freedom to local newspapers. He was born Jan. 14, 1914, in Penora, Iowa. He married Geneva Schmidt, a former resident of Davenport, in 1954 in Las Vegas. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jean Fisher, and a son, John Svendsen, both of Salem; and five grandchildren.

Cecil Yates
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Cecil L. Yates, of East Moline, will be noon Thursday at Family Funeral Services, Colona, formerly Fairmans. Visitation is 11 a.m. to noon Thursday. Burial will be Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with military services by Colona American Legion Post 1233. Mr. Yates died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill. He was employed 33 years as a truck driver at Multi-Foods, Davenport, and then drove for Smith Transfer, Davenport, for 10 years. He retired in 1988. He was born June 27, 1925, in Kuttawa, Ky. He married Viola Lady in 1943 in Benton, Mo. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 299. Survivors include his wife; sons, Wayne, Milan, Ill., Jerry, East Moline, and Larry, Moline; two grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Krone, Sikeston, Mo., Margarett Groenwaldt, Rock Island, and Theresa Hart, Minneapolis; and brothers, Hulett, Sikeston, Clyde, Grayson, Ky., Bill, Albuquerque, N.M., and O.J., Princeton, Ky.

John Aden
KEWANEE, Ill. -- John W. Aden, of Kewanee, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kewanee. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery , Kewanee. Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee, in charge of arrangements. Mr. Aden had farmed in the Kewanee area and later worked until retirement at Van Packer Corp., Buda. He was born Sept. 14, 1910, in Kewanee. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include sisters, Florence George and Lillian Freeburg, both of Kewanee.

Robert Brodersen
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Robert R. Brodersen, of East Moline, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Cordova (Ill.) Cemetery . Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Brodersen died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill. He was employed as a cement finisher for Phil Grchan Construction, Moline. He was born June 23, 1962, in Clinton, Iowa. He married Beth Cranu in 1986 in Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include daughters, Nicole and Katie Brodersen, both of Silvis, Ill.; his parents, Jean and Bob Cain, Cordova; a sister, Candy Moore, Silvis, Ill.; brothers, Steve Brodersen, Howel, Mich., Tom Brodersen, Clinton, Iowa, Tim Cain, Geneseo, Ill., David Cain, Rapids City, Ill., and Darren Cain, Silvis; and his grandmother, Lois Cain, East Moline.

Muriel Haase
OXFORD JUNCTION, Iowa -- Memorial services for Muriel A. Haase, of Oxford Junction, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Oxford Junction. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mrs. Haase died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Samaritan Hospital, Clinton, from injuries as a result of an automobile accident. Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, is in charge of arrangements. She was a homemaker. Muriel Menneke was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Preston. She married John Haase in 1954 in Rock Island. He died Aug. 10, 1991. Instead of flowers, memorials may be given to Oxford Junction Senior Center. Survivors include sons, John, Solon, and Donald "Dean," Corpus Christi, Texas; her mother, Lillian Menneke, DeWitt; a granddaughter; a sister, Velma Kuehl, DeWitt; and a brother, Ronald Menneke, Davenport.

Leona Johnson
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Leona H. Johnson, of Highland Transitional Care, Madison, Wis., will be noon today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation is 11 a.m. to noon today. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at the care center. She was employed many years as a teacher at Clinton schools. Leona Henningsen was born June 3, 1904, in Clinton. She married Robert Johnson in 1940 in Clinton. He died in 1987. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a nephew, Richard White, Athens, Texas, whom she raised.

Deborah Brown
CAMANCHE, Iowa -- Services for Deborah H. Brown, of 922 9th Ave., will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Visitation, Camanche. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , Camanche. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the church. Mrs. Brown died Monday, April 5, 1999, at her home, after an extended illness. Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. She was a homemaker. Deborah Hood was born March 26, 1953, in Raleigh, N.C. She married Patrick Brown in 1974 in Decatur, Ga. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Katherine Brown, and sons, Patrick A. and Peter K., all at home; and her mother, Bess Hood, and a sister, Marsha Hood, both of Decatur.

Angela Livek
KEWANEE, Ill. -- Services for Angela Livek, of Kewanee, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Visitation is 10:30-11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery , Kewanee. Miss Livek died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Toulon Health Care Center. She retired as an inspector after 50 years at Boss Glove Co., Kewanee. She was born March 27, 1903, in La Salle. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include a sister, Lena Dillon, Kewanee.

William Rose Sr.
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for William Rose Sr., of Rock Island, will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the church. Mr. Rose died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at his home. Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline, is in charge of arrangements. He operated and owned a demolition and trucking business. He also was a plumber at Gannon Plumbing, Rock Island. He was born July 11, 1919, in Macon, Mo. He married Annabel Johnson in 1939 in Davenport. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Patricia Dorman, East Moline, and Carol Sampson, Seattle; a stepdaughter, Mary Richardson, Rock Island; a son, William Jr., Clinton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Florine Hines and Jeraldine Shelton, and brothers, Carl, and Floyd Sr., all of Rock Island.

Bette Chenault
KEITHSBURG, Ill. -- Services for Bette J. Chenault, of Keithsburg, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery , Keithsburg. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the church. Mrs. Chenault died Monday, April 5, 1999, at her home. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements. She was employed at Mercer County Hospital and Nursing Home, Aledo. She retired in the early 1980s. Bette Vandevort was born May 11, 1925, in Keithsburg. She married Thurman Chenault in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1977. Memorials may be made to Bette J. Chenault Memorial Fund. Survivors include a daughter, Penny Chenault of Monmouth; sons, Bill and Don, both of Keithsburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bill Vandevort, Keithsburg, and Keith Vandevort, Peoria.

Goldie Olson
ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Goldie P. Olson, of Rock Island, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Mrs. Olson died Monday, April 5, 1999, at River Park Health Care Center, Rock Island. She was employed 31 years as a computer operator at Bituminous Casualty, Rock Island. She retired in 1978. Goldie Pederson was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Red Wing, Minn. She married Gunnar Olson in 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa. He died in 1990. Memorials may be made to Rock Island County Humane Society. Survivors include a daughter, Denise Carothers, Colona, Ill.; sons, Gary, Rock Island, and Steven, Davenport; six grandchildren; sisters, Gladys King, Terre Haute, Ind., and Marion Holliday, Shawnee Mission, Kan.; and a brother, Walter Pederson, Bakersfield, Calif.

Wendell Drawyer
TOULON, Ill. -- Memorial services for Wendell B. Drawyer, of rural Toulon, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Inurnment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery , Kewanee, with military services by Kewanee Veterans Council. Mr. Drawyer died April 2, 1999, at Toulon Health Care Center. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Bonnie Johnston, Corning; sons, James and Robert, both of Orient, and Michael, Chariton; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

OXFORD JUNCTION, Iowa -- Services for Patricia L. DeMoss, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Oxford Junction, will be noon Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Oxford Junction. Burial will be in Massillon Cemetery . Visitation is 4:30-7:30 p.m. today at Hayden Funeral Home, Oxford Junction. Mrs. DeMoss died April 2, 1999, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, after a brief illness. She worked more than 16 years at Kmart, Mesa. Patricia Jones was born April 20, 1949, in McGregor. She married Terry DeMoss in 1966 in Marion. Survivors include her husband; sons, Michael, Paradise Valley, Ariz., and Kevin, Mesa; two grandchildren; her mother, Iladean Simpson, and stepfather, Clarence Simpson, Cedar Rapids; and sisters, Lavon Smith, Kansas City, Kan., and Shirrie Burmeister, Clarence.
