DAVENPORT -- Shelba J. Derby, of Davenport, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at her home after a brief illness. Services will be 7 p.m. Friday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation is 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Additional services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gould Funeral Home, Richland, Iowa, preceded by a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery , Richland. Ms. Derby was employed as a clerk in the Scott County Assessor's Office, Davenport, for 29 years. She retired in May 1998. Shelba Derby was born July 20, 1937, in Rubio, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Sixth Floor Oncology Unit of Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Survivors include daughters, Darcy Gott and Marti Bugh, both of Davenport; sons, Mark Heston, West Des Moines, and Terry Heston, Davenport; and four grandchildren.

Norlene Sackett
SILVIS, Ill. -- Services for Norlene C. Sackett, of Silvis, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery . Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Sackett died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. She retired in 1996 as a deli clerk after eight years at the Eagle Food Store in Moline. Earlier she was employed as a cashier at Hardees, East Moline, and as a teller at RIA Credit Union, Rock Island. Norlene Francis was born July 13, 1940, in Erie. Memorials may be made to her family. Survivors include daughters, Lisa Jordan, Taylor Ridge, and Amy Sackett, Coralville, Iowa; her mother, Juanita Francis, Moline; a sister, Barbara Graves, Murphysboro, Tenn.; and brothers, Richard Francis, Virginia Beach, Va., Robert Francis, Coal Valley, Rodney Francis, Arlington, Texas, and Dwight Francis, Orion.

Johanna Johnson
ROCK ISLAND -- Johanna P. "Jo" Johnson, of 9419 13 1/2 St. West, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at her home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Moline. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. She retired in 1970 after 26 years at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. Johanna Poster was born Feb. 26, 1911, in Rock Island. She married Kenneth Johnson in 1929 in Moline. He died in 1986. Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Mattocks, of Arizona, and Barbara Johnson, Rock Island; sons, Donavon, Moline, and Stephen, Grand Prairie, Texas; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Blakley, Oakland, Calif.

Harold Housenga
DAVENPORT -- Harold A. Housenga, of Davenport, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. A private family gathering will be held. Bentley Funeral Home Inc., Durant, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Housenga was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Fulton, Ill. He married Lora Carter in 1972 in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mitsie Anderson and Polly Carter, both of Davenport; his mother, Evelyn Clark, Fulton; sisters, Donna Nichols and Sharon Stringer, both of Aurora, Ill.; and two granddaughters.

Catherine Smith
BETTENDORF -- Services for Catherine L. Smith, of Bettendorf, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. She was retired from Sears and Roebuck, Davenport, where she worked for more 20 years as a clerk and secretary in the receiving department. In earlier years, she worked at the former Cook Coffee Co., Davenport. Catherine Strabala was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Hills, Iowa. She married Clarence "Bill" Smith, and later married Raymond H. Smith. Both preceded her in death. Memorials may go to Boys Town in Omaha, Neb., or American Lung Association. Survivors include sons, Robert, Maquoketa, Iowa, and Raymond, Davenport; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia Schiele
STOCKTON, Iowa -- Services for Virginia T. Schiele, formerly of Stockton, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Durant Cemetery . Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mrs. Schiele died Sunday, April 4, 1999, in Richmond Hill, Ga., after an extended illness. She was a homemaker. She was born in Wilton, Iowa. She married Otto Schiele in 1923 in Sweetland. He died in 1978. Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Foundation. Survivors include sons, Richard, Richmond Hill, Edwin, Woodruff, S.C., Jerry, Salt Lake City, and Charles, Kansas City, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucy Norton, Davenport.

Betty Pfortmiller
EAST MOLINE -- Services for Betty Pfortmiller, of East Moline, will be 3 p.m. today at Family Funeral Services, Aledo, Ill. Visitation is 2-3 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mannon Cemetery , New Boston Township. Mrs. Pfortmiller died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. She retired in 1980 after 10 years at Admiral Corp., Galesburg, Ill. Betty Diehl was born June 14, 1924, in Mercer County, Ill., to Emery and Edna (Ott) Diehl. She married Howard Pfortmiller on Nov. 14, 1952, in Berkley, Calif. He preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jackie Brown, Milan, Ill.; grandchildren, Lora May, Darcy Lievens, Todd Brown and Derek Brown; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verna June Anderson, Keithsburg, Ill. Mrs. Pfortmiller also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margie Smith; and an infant sister.

Daniel Reardon
DAVENPORT -- Services for Daniel Patrick Reardon, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Dan died Tuesday April 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. Daniel Patrick Reardon was born Aug. 26, 1944, in Blue Island, Ill., to Thomas and Mary Eileen (Pickley) Reardon. He married Barbara Grell on Sept. 15, 1973, in Davenport. He graduated from St. Ignatius Catholic High School, Chicago. He attended St. Ambrose College and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in history. He received his master's degree in criminal justice from the University of Illinois. Dan began his career in law enforcement with the city of Davenport in August 1972. He most recently was commander of the day shift. Lt. Reardon's career spanned 27 years during which time he was very instrumental in organizing and implementing collective bargaining. He was known throughout the department and in the Iowa State Police Association as an innovator. He had many helpful ideas which were implemented during his tenure. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Iowa State Police Association. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and was a true Notre Dame fan. He was co-founder of the Quad-City St. Patrick's Society and was its first president. Memorials can be made to the Handicapped Development Center or Davenport Police Department Death Benefit Fund. Survivors include a son, Daniel Reardon, stationed with the U.S Air Force in South Korea; a daughter, Kathleen Reardon, Davenport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Thomas and Monica Reardon and Kevin and Claudia Reardon, all of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. May they rest in peace.

Regina Storck
DAVENPORT -- Services for Regina H. Storck, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Friday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Additional visitation is Saturday at the church in the Gathering Space from 10 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Storck died Tuesday April 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. Regina H. Floersch was born July 22, 1921, at St. Mary's, Kan., to Matthew and Rosa (Baumchen) Floersch. She married Burdette H. "Burt" Storck in Nov. 5, 1946, in St. Mary's. She graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse and had been head of the surgical department at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Topeka, Kan. She continued her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in Davenport and retired in 1973. Regina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed the time spent with her friends, playing cards and visiting. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor. The outdoors and working in the yard and garden also were favorites of Regina. Memorials can be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church or American Cancer Society. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Kathy Storck Davis, Middleton, Wis., and Mary Doyle, Davenport; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Connie (Thompson) Storck, Burlington, Iowa; grandchildren, Mary, Michelle, Sarah, Kelly, Shawna, Erin, Susan and Gina; great- grandchildren, Kayla and Dylan; a sister, Marge Glick; and brothers, Eugene, Matthew and Joseph Floersch. She was preceded in death by sisters, Rosemarie McCoy and Louise Ronssee-Davis. May they rest in peace.

Margery Bray
ROCK ISLAND -- Margery R. Kerr Bray, of Rock Island, died Sunday, April 5, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Her body was cremated. Private inurnment will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Mrs. Bray had worked 47 years in production control at the former Wagner Printers, Davenport. She retired in 1991. Margery Kerr was born July 21, 1926, in Burlington, Iowa, to Jesse and Julia (Donaldson) Kerr. She married Sanford Bray Jr. on Jan. 14, 1961, in Davenport. She was a member of Mississippi Valley Vintage Race Car Association. She enjoyed motorcycling. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include her husband; a niece and her spouse, Laura and Doug Dybdal, and their daughter, Julia, of Moline; and a number of cousins.

Sarah Moore
DAVENPORT -- Services for Sarah A. "Sally" Moore, of Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Entombment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Mrs. Moore died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. Mrs. Moore was employed as a fabric buyer at the former McCabe Department Store, Rock Island. Sarah Moore was born Aug. 14, 1903, in Indiana, Pa., to Joseph and Violet (Bullock) Moore. She married Joseph Moore in 1936 in Maryland. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club and American Association of Retired Persons. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Boys Town. Survivors include a daughter, Romaine (Mrs. Gary) Bruner, Cordova, Ill.; grandchildren, Remona Druhl, Blue Grass, Iowa, Darlene Bruner-Getz, St. Joseph, Mich., and Diane Cooney, Durango, Colo.; five great-grandchildren; four nephews; five grandnieces; and three grandnephews.

Robert Runyan
SAVANNA, Ill. -- Private family services for Robert W. Runyan, of Savanna, will be at a later date. There is no visitation. Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Runyan died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Samaritan Hospital North, Clinton, Iowa. He retired in 1984 after 34 years with Milwaukee Railroad. He had also worked at the Savanna Ordinance Depot. He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Washington Township, Ill. He married Rosalynne Phillips in 1941 in Savanna. She died in 1992. He served in the Army. Survivors include a godchild, Rex Kreuder, Savanna; and nieces and nephews.

Norman Nichols
MOLINE -- Norman L. "Norm" Nichols, of Moline, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Western Cemetery , Orion, Ill. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Nichols was a self-employed trucker for several years. He retired in 1982. He was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Hunnewell, Mo. He married Claudette Mix in 1954 in Hannibal, Mo. He married Evelyn Charter in 1991. Memorials may be made to the Cancer or Lung associations. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kathy Elder, East Moline, and Karen Bugh, Ewing, Mo; a son, Terry, Coal Valley, Ill.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a nephew whom he was raising, Robert Hays; and a sister, Pat Leslie, Moline.

LeRoy Langrehr
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for LeRoy O. Langrehr, of Clinton, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Langrehr died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque. He retired in 1985 after 38 years as a maintenance superintendent at M.L. Kapp Generating Station with Interstate Power, Clinton. He also owned and operated Roy's Motor Repair, Clinton, for many years. He was born April 5, 1923, in Clinton. He married Dorothy May in 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. She died in 1996. He served in the Army during World War II. Memorials may be made to Clinton Dialysis South Unit. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Langrehr, Davenport; sons, Roger, David and Allan, all of Clinton, and LeRoy Jr., Camanche; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanora DeCrane, Davenport, Leona Legel, Fulton, Ill., Delores Krakliow, Rock Island, and Mildred Durgin, Anamosa, Iowa; and brothers, Henry and Edward, both of Clinton, and Fred, Davenport.

Mable Denton
MORRISON, Ill. -- Mable Redell Denton of Morrison, formerly of Erie, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Pleasant View Home, Morrison. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Private services will be held. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery . Gibson Funeral Home, Erie is in charge of arrangements. Mable Peckham was born April 26, 1901, in Hillsdale. She married Harry Redell in 1920. He died in 1947. She married Blair Denton in 1951. He died in 1991. She and Mr. Redell assisted her parents in the operation of Erie Greenhouses. Later she worked at Florence Grocery and Pringle Grocery. A memorial fund has been established for Erie Childrens Home, in lieu of flowers. Survivors include daughters, Dona Webb, Erie, Vada Hicks, Cordova, and Jeanne Gonzales, Fenton; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Raymond Nelson
PEORIA, Ill. -- Raymond M. Nelson, of Peoria, formerly of Davenport, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at his home, after an extended illness. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Parkside Kingdom Hall, Peoria. The body will be cremated. Mr. Nelson had worked at Red Jacket, Davenport, and Davenport Memorial Park. He was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Chicago. He married Marian Marolf in 1947 in Davenport. During World War II, he served as a gunner with the Navy in the South Pacific. Memorials may be made to All Veterans Memorial Association, Davenport Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kathy, Peoria, Carol, of Florida, and Vicki; sons, Jeff, at home, and Dennis, Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Gatlin, Katy, Texas, and Frieda Quinn, Davenport.

MORRISON, Ill. -- Services for Patricia E. Mahnke, of Morrison, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Mahnke died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at her home. She had worked as a cook's assistant at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison. She also had worked as a clerk at Shop 'N Go, Morrison. Patricia Barnhardt was born April 23, 1951, in Concord, N.C. She married Richard Mahnke in 1975 in Concord. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include her husband; her parents, Lloyd and Ellen Barnhardt, Concord; and brothers, Steve Barnhardt, Fishersville, Va., Rick Barnhardt, Concord, and David Barnhardt, Fort Worth, Texas.

Isabelle Baker
PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. -- Services for Isabelle M. Baker, of Prophetstown, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Prophetstown. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown. Mrs. Baker died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown. She and her husband have farmed in the Tampico and Prophetstown communities since their marriage. Isabelle Zbinden was born Oct. 29, 1914, in Sterling. She married Willard Baker in 1933 in Sterling. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include her husband; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
