LYLE RAYMOND TODD
Lyle R. Todd was born November 1, 1925 near Tingley, Iowa to Clemmet and Lora (Hagerman) Todd. Lyle passed away on June 5, 2001 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center at the age of 75 years.
Lyle grew up around Diagonal, Iowa and attended schools in the area.
On May 28, 1950, he was united in marriage to Doris Martin. The couple celebrated 51 years of marriage and to this union three children were born, A. Raymond, Roger and Lois.
They worked for farmers and in 1960 started farming east of Tingley. He went to work for Ringgold County Road Maintenance for a few years until health failed him. He entered the Mount Ayr Health Care Center on February 5, 1999.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Forest and Vernon Todd; three sisters-in-law, Mildred, Helen and Nina Todd.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Doris of Mount Ayr; children, Raymond Todd and wife Letha of Cassville, Missouri, Roger Todd and wife Jeanette of Maloy, Iowa and Lois England of Tingley; four grandchildren, Jacob and Stephanie Todd and Pamela and Christine England; seven step-grandchildren; brothers, Elbert Todd of Baird, TX and James Todd and wife Violet of Creston, Iowa; sisters, Mildred Peterson and husband Clifford of Murray, Iowa and Marjorie Perkins and husband Glenn of Grimes, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Robert Martin and wife Verna and Howard Martin and wife Shirley, all of Mount Ayr; sister-in-law, Mary Harris and husband James of Grand River, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday June 9, 2001, at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr with Reverend Jeff Flagg conducting the service. Musicians are Nancy Sackett, Mary Trullinger and Margaret Bickers. Casket bearers are Robert Todd, Myron Tilt, Darren Martin, Joe Peterson, Lee Martin and Robert Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Priest, Willis Newby and Gary Roudybush.
Lyle will be laid to rest in the Tingley Cemetery , Tingley.

PEARL JUNE WARIN
Pearl June (Matthews) was born June 13, 1907 in Tabor, Iowa, the first child and daughter of Eugene and Nora (Buckingham) Matthews. Pearl, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Memorial Day, May 28, 2001 at the age of 93 years.
Pearl grew up in Tabor with her sister Mabel and four brothers, Dave, Maurice, Earl and Dale. She attended Iowa State University and was a teacher at Mount Ayr high school when she met her future husband, Emmet R. Warin. They were united in marriage on June 5, 1938, at St. Patrick's Church in Imogene, Iowa.
They stayed in Mount Ayr where Emmet was an attorney and were blessed with two sons, Mike and Bill. Pearl assisted Emmet with income tax work for many years. She was an avid bridge player, liked to collect and refinish antique furniture, quilted numerous quilts and liked to attend bingo nights. She still did many of these things up until her passing and had a mind as sharp as a tack.
She is survived by her oldest son, Michael; daughters-in-law, Deanna (Taylor) Warin and Ann (Watson) Warin; grandchildren, Mike and Michelle Warin of Pella, Iowa, Joe and Donna Warin of Clearfield, Iowa, Stephanie and Brad Butler of Scottsdale, Arizona, Amy and Scott Haney of Mesa, Arizona, Jennifer and TJ Casey of Mesa; six great-grandchildren; a sister Mabel Georgesen of Evansville, Indiana; and brother Dale and wife Clara Jane Matthews of Shenandoah, Iowa.
Pearl loved her family dearly and was a constant inspiration due to all she was able to accomplish. She made many creative birthday cakes for her grandchildren and taught them all to play the card game, Kings on the Corner.
Preceding Pearl in death were her husband Emmet Warin; her youngest son Bill; and three brothers, Dave, Maurice and Earl.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 1, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Ayr with Father Thomas Dooley officiating. Lectors were Michelle Warin and Amy Haney. Gift bearers were Donna Warin, Stephanie Butler and Jennifer Casey. Nancy Sackett and Judy Cunning were musicians. Casket bearers were Michael R. Warin, Joe Warin, Brad Butler, Scott Haney, TJ Casey and David Georgesen.
Pearl was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery , Mount Ayr.

HAZEL WAIVE WEHRLE
Hazel Waive Wehrle, youngest daughter of Edwin and Luella (Boothe) Cole, was born April 7, 1909 near Eagleville, Missouri, and passed away May 30, 2001 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
The family moved to a farm near Mount Ayr in 1922. She graduated from the Mount Ayr high school in 1927.
She joined the Liberty Methodist Church at an early age then later transferred to the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr.
On April 14, 1928 she was united in marriage to Frank Wehrle at Leon, Iowa. They farmed in Ringgold, Taylor and Montgomery counties. Frank and Waive moved to Heritage Park Apartments in 1978. Frank passed away August 19, 1986.
Waive was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Kenneth, Keith and Ora Cole; and a sister Irene Ferber.
She is survived by her sister Nona Huggins of Mount Ayr; nephews, Walter and wife Ellen Huggins of Kansas City, Missouri and John and wife Juanita Sickels of Mount Ayr; along with other nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 1, 2001 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr with Reverend Michael Druhl officiating. Musicians were Nancy Sackett, Mary Trullinger and Margaret Bickers. Casket bearers were Lesa Saville, Joe Saville, Garrett Reynolds, Diane Huntsman, Baylee Stull and Lora Stull.
Waive was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery , Mount Ayr.

ELVA ELIZABETH FLETCHALL
Elva Elizabeth Fletchall was born February 25, 1903 in southern Ringgold county, Iowa to George and Fannie (Bell) Richardson.
Elva graduated from Mount Ayr high school and taught rural school until her marriage on April 30, 1924 to Cordie Jennings Fletchall. Together they lived and farmed near Eagleville, Missouri until retiring in 1974. At this time they moved into Mount Ayr and shortly thereafter Cordie passed away.
Elva continued to live in Mount Ayr where she attended the United Methodist Church and belonged to a garden club. In 1986, Elva moved to Altoona, Iowa and lived at the Briarcliff Assisted Living in Altoona from 1994 to 1998. Elva moved into C.L.C. of Polk City, a nursing home in Polk City, Iowa, in 1998 and continued to make this her home.
Elva passed away on July 29, 2001 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 98 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a son Duain C. Fletchall at the age of three; her twin sister Ethel Eckard in addition to sisters Lena Anderson and Gladys Foltz; and two brothers, Cecil and Mark Richardson.
She is survived by her daughter Jean Evans and her husband Roger of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Gregg Evans of Ankeny, Diane Evans and her husband Jim Clover of Thornton, Colorado and Stephanie Evans of Chicago, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Brian and Erin Evans; three sisters, Genevieve Greimann of Rochester, Minnesota, Ada Rogers of Mount Ayr and Crystal Narin of Sun City, Arizona; a brother Wayne Richardson of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services were held Thursday, August 2, 2001 at Weaver Chapel Cemetery , Hatfield, Missouri with pastor Sue Thomas officiating.
A memorial fund has been established for the United Methodist Church, Mount Ayr.
Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.

ELIZABETH McGREGOR
Elizabeth McGregor was born December 1, 1908 at Mount Ayr, Iowa to Frank and Jennie (Bell) German. She graduated from Mount Ayr high school and attended Maryville Teachers College in Maryville, Missouri. Elizabeth taught school in one room country schools in Ringgold county, Iowa.
On April 8, 1931, she was united in marriage to David D. McGregor in Corydon, Wayne county, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Tingley, Iowa where their two daughters were born, later living on farms at Alta, Sexton, Algona and Burt, Iowa.
The family rented farms that were in need of repair and after all the work was completed, the owner would sell the farm and they would move on to the next farm that needed to be fixed up. While living in Alta, they joined the Baptist church where they became Christians.
In 1946, they moved to Oregon and lived in the Philomath area for three years. In 1949, after moving to Corvallis, Oregon, Elizabeth got a job for a short time at the Dinette restaurant. She then began her career in retail department stores first working at McGregor's Five and Ten Cent Store (no relation). After several years at McGregor's, she worked at Nolan's Department Store which later became Robert's Bros., retiring from there. Elizabeth also managed the apartments where they lived.
She attended the Corvallis First Baptist Church where she helped with the monthly newsletter and the weekly bulletin. For 20 years, she helped at the polls with Benton county elections.
David passed away in 1982. Elizabeth continued to live there until 1990, when she moved to Albany, Oregon. In 1996, after her health had failed, Elizabeth moved to Salem, Oregon to live with her daughter Anna Mae. In 1998, she returned to Albany to live in adult foster care.
Elizabeth died on July 18, 2001 in Albany, Oregon at the age of 92 years.
Elizabeth's hobbies included gardening, animals, reading, cooking and keeping a good house.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Mae Poli and husband Raymond of Salem, Oregon and Delene McGregor Haake and husband Dan of Albany, Oregon; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Diana Holland officiating, Debbie Cannon the organist and John Allen the soloist. Casket bearers were Dan Haake, Eric Walter, Harold Bowers, Donald Weeda, Edward Shields and Ronnie Shields.
Elizabeth was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery , Mount Ayr.

EDNA LOUISE PERLENFEIN
Edna Louise Perlenfein was born June 19, 1910 at Wolbach, Nebraska to Mervin and Emma (Hoffman) Killinger. She grew up at Wolbach and was united in marriage to Theodore O. Perlenfein on December 30, 1931, at Fullerton, Nebraska. The marriage was blessed with four children: twins, Twila A. and Leila E., Larry G. and Connie K. They farmed in the Wolbach area after their marriage.
The family moved to a farm south of Mount Ayr, Iowa, in Middle Fork township, on March 1, 1944. This was their home for several years. Edna was a devoted farm wife and loving mother. She taught her girls how to sew, cook and can produce. She always had a big garden that fed the family throughout the year.
Edna was a girls 4-H leader. She enjoyed being around people, going to the neighborhood clubs, had a great sense of humor and loved to play cards and she played to win.
Edna was always involved in clubs and organizations. She belonged to book and gardening clubs and was active in leadership roles on local, district and state levels with the Rebekkah Lodge. She was an active member of the First Christian Church, helping and donating whenever needed such as for funeral dinners and the Iowa State Fair concession stand. She will be remembered for telling those funny stories.
In March of 1966, Edna and Ted moved to Tarkio, Missouri to operate a small business. They retired back to Mount Ayr in 1970 and Ted died on April 7, 1974. Edna continued to live in her own home. She passed away on August 6, 2001, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ted; her daughter Leila E. Civitate, twin to Twila, in 1996; and her five brothers, Merle, Ray, Elmer, Woodrow and Earl Killinger.
Those left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life include her children, Twila A. Simon and her husband Walter of Walker, Iowa, Larry G. Perlenfein and his wife Melba of Moline, Illinois, and Connie K. Kretchmer and her husband Ronald of Omaha, Nebraska; her son-in-law Donald Civitate of Des Moines, Iowa; her three grandchildren, James L. Simon, Kevin K. Simon and Stacy A. Kretchmer; her four great-grandchildren, Steven J., Sara A., Heather M. and Kyle J. Simon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may stop for a visitation after 9:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, with a family visitation Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2001, at First Christian Church in Mount Ayr. Services will be led by Edward Shields with the message given by Reverend John Brillo. Music is provided by Nancy Sackett, organist, and Madeleine Widstrom, vocalist.
Casket bearers are Kevin Simon, James Simon, Kyle Simon, Steven Simon, Gerald Killinger, Gene Killinger, Kenneth Killinger and Bill Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Killinger, Dean Frost, Harold "Tom" Golliday, Frank Higgins, Homer Rinehart and Roy Warner.
Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery , Mount Ayr.

GRACE ARLENE WILSON
Grace Arlene Wilson was born September 14, 1908 at Pleasantville, Iowa to Frederick and Minnie (Bull) Schroeder. Grace graduated from Milo high school in 1926 and lived in Warren and Marion counties until 1949. On July 1, 1949, she married Cullen Wilson and they moved to Blockton, Iowa.
Grace enjoyed being a farm wife and tending to her flowers and caring for the birds. She liked to keep up on news and politics. Cullen passed away in 1965 and Grace continued to live at Blockton until 1996 when she moved to Carlisle, Iowa so as to be near her grandchildren.
Grace was a member of the Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.
Grace passed away at the Westview Care Center in Indianola, Iowa on August 1, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cullen; a son Roger W. Summy in 1993; and two brothers, Earl and Leland Schroeder.
Survivors include her two grandchildren, Leland Summy and his wife Deanna and Roberta Summy, and two great-grandchildren, Allison and Kelsey Summy, all of Des Moines, Iowa; two nieces, Dorothy Tucker and Darlene Lyda; and two nephews, Donald and Mark Schroeder.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 4, 2001 at the Christian Church in Blockton with Reverend Scott Marcum officiating and Jodie Lawrence the pianist. Casket bearers were Terry Green, Jerry Kemery, Charles Gillum, Leo Dillon, Eldon Stroburg and Don Marker.
Grace was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery , Blockton.
Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.

WINNIE FITZGERALD
Winnie Fitzgerald, 91, of Lenox, Iowa died Thursday, November 22, 2001, at the Lenox Care Center, Lenox.
She was born March 29, 1910, in Ringgold county, Iowa near Mount Ayr, the daughter of Ann Wheatley and Joseph Miller. She graduated from Mount Ayr high school in 1926.
On April 23, 1932 she was united in marriage to Orville Edwin (Pete) Fitzgerald at Grant City, Missouri. Over the years they lived in Mount Ayr, Gravity, Sharpsburg, Grand River, Lenox and Corning, Iowa. Winnie worked as a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orville; daughter Barbara Joan Cordell; infant grandson Dennis Cordell; four sisters, Gladys, Fern, Bernice and Mary; and two brothers, Roy and Lee.
Survivors include son Richard (Jean) Fitzgerald of Corning; brother Robert (Ardith) Miller of Jackson, California; sister Marie Jeter of Bedford, Iowa; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 25, 2001, at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Lenox with Reverend Tim Maxa of the Presbyterian Church of Lenox officiating.
Winnie was laid to rest in the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.
Memorials may be made to Camp Sunnyside, Des Moines.
