Susan Katherine Mulvany Cline
April 19, 1951- August 10, 2006

-Graveside Funeral Service: Saturday, August 12, 2006 11:00 AM in Aspen Grove
Grove Cemetery . The Rev. Marshall Jackman will officiate.

Family will receive friends following the graveside service at Parkside Baptist Church.
Memorials have been established for Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St.,
Mason City, Iowa 50401, or any Humane Society.

Susan Katherine Mulvany Cline, 55 of Mason City lost her long battle with cancer Thursday morning, August 10, 2006, at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

Born April 19, 1951 in Cedar Rapids she was the daughter of Gerold and Sarah Luberger Mulvany. Mrs. Cline grew up in Cedar Rapids and in her career lived throughout the United States. On July 18, 1977 she married James R. Cline in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

A 1969 graduate of Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Cline also received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1973 and her Medical Technologist degree in 1976 from University of Iowa. She had a long career in management with Cargill Incorporated and with Grain Millers.

Mrs. Cline was a tireless worker and a most loving human being. She was an avid gardener, birdwatcher, fisherwoman, pet lover and reader. She especially loved fishing at her family’s cabin near Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Survivors include her loving husband, James R. Cline of Mason City; daughter, Amy Williamson and her husband Michael Williamson of Olathe, Kansas; her mother and step father Sarah and Norbert Sedlak of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Patricia Heaton of Pensacola, Florida, Sandra Baugh of Salt Lake City, Utah and Denise Kennedy of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Her father, Gerold Mulvany; and grandparents, Balcom and Katherine Luberger preceded her in death.

The graveside funeral service for Mrs. Cline will be Saturday, August 12th, at 11:00 a.m. in Aspen Grove Cemetery . The Rev. Marshall Jackman will officiate. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Parkside Baptist Church.

Memorials have been established for Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St., Mason City, IA 50401 or any Humane Society.

Gregory Paul Cluney
September 23, 1962 - March 29, 2007

Gregory Paul Cluney, 44, of Burlington, Iowa died at 12:48 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born September 23, 1962 in Mesa, Arizona, he was the son of Harold T. and Bonnie Neff Cluney. On October 17, 2005 he married Candy Hall in Burlington.

Mr. Cluney worked as a laborer and in production at various jobs in and around Burlington. He attended First Assembly of God Church. He liked watching sports on TV, muscle cars, snakes, working in the junkyard with his father and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Candy Cluney of Burlington; two sons, Gregory Paul Cluney, Jr. of Fort Dodge, Iowa and Daniel Lee (Robin) Cluney of Bonaparte, Iowa; one daughter, Ashley Marie Cluney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his parents, Harold and Bonnie Cluney of Burlington; three grandchildren, Page and Gregory Cluney III and Cierra Cluney; one brother, Harold Thomas (Denise) Cluney II of Hartsville, South Carolina; and two sisters, Lisa (Sean) Spears and Nancy (Chris) Creagan both of Roanoke, Virginia.

His brother, Timothy Cluney, preceded him in death.

July 27, 1961 - February 3, 2007

Timothy Brian Cluney, 45, of Staunton, Virginia and formerly of Burlington, Iowa died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007, at University of Virginia Medical Center, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Born July 27, 1961 in Mesa, Arizona, he was the son of Harold T. and Bonnie J. Neff Cluney.

Mr. Cluney worked in Quality Assurance for Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Staunton. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Burlington. He collected old train sets and railroad pictures etc.

Survivors include his parents, Harold and Bonnie Cluney of Burlington; two brothers, Greg Cluney of Burlington and Tom Cluney of Hartsville, South Carolina; two sisters, Lisa Spears and Nancy Creagan both of Roanoke, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis D. Combs

February 28, 1929 - January 28, 2006

- Visitation: Tuesday, January 31st 8:00 to 12:00 PM in Lunning Chapel

- Graveside Funeral Service and Interment: Tuesday, January 31st 2:00 PM in

Dennis D. Combs, 76, of Burlington died at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at his son’s residence in Burlington.

Born February 28, 1929 in New London, he was the son of Earl and Ina Morrow Combs. On August 2, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant he married Martha J. Combs. She died October 6, 1988.

Mr. Combs worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed playing the violin, fishing, playing bingo, going to the boat, and playing cards with his family.

Survivors include, three sons, Ted Combs, Danny Combs, and David Combs, all of Burlington; two daughters, Peggy Rice and Julie Anderson, both of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.

Besides his wife, his parents, one infant son, and one brother preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established.

William Thomas Cooper
March 2, 1923 - January 9, 2006

William Thomas Cooper, 82, of Fort Madison Health Center and formerly of West Burlington died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2006, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born March 2, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of Dick Joseph and Mary Callahan Cooper. In June of 1953 he married Betty Kathryn Cole in Falls City, Nebraska.

Mr. Cooper was a graduate of Falls City (Nebraska) High School and Nebraska Wesleyan College; he received his masters degree at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre.

He was the marching band instructor at Burlington High School and Oak Street Middle School for 42 years. He was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Oriental Lodge No. 61 AF&AM of Knoxville and Men’s Bridge Club. He enjoyed golfing, music, bridge and woodcarving.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Cooper of West Burlington; one daughter, Kathryn Cooper of Des Moines; one son, Charles Thomas (Laura) Cooper of Dexter, Missouri; and one sister, Martha Jo Spellman of Milford, Nebraska.

His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established for West Burlington Lions Club.

Donna Jeanne Courtney
December 25, 1948 ~ August 24, 2008

Lunning Chapel.
-Family Visitation: Tuesday, August 26, 2008, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in
Lunning Chapel.
-Memorial Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 10:30 AM in
Lunning Chapel with Senators David Moulder and Gene Fraise officiating.
According to her wishes, the body of Mrs. Courtney has been cremated.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice

Donna Jeanne Courtney, 59, of Burlington died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at her residence.

Born December 25, 1948 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Darrell and Jeanne Schneider Strawhacker. On August 15, 1966 she married Thomas G. Courtney in Muscatine, Iowa.

Mrs. Courtney was a graduate of Wapello High School. She worked in food service for the Burlington Community School District for over thirty years and also was a clerk in the Iowa Senate for six years.

She was a member of Legislative Ladies of the Iowa Senate. She enjoyed crafting, scrap booking, gardening, her coffee group and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an Iowa Hawkeye Fan, Girl Scout leader, and a little league coach.

Survivors include, her husband Senator Thomas G. Courtney of Burlington; two daughters, Dawn (Matt) Schulte and Shawna (the late Steve) Casady both of Burlington; one son, Brian Courtney of Englewood, Colorado; four grandchildren, Rachel and Samuel Schulte and Courtney and Brynn Casady; six sisters, Joyce Albin, Ruth Brown, Shirley Hall, Myrtle Heater, Mary McDonald, and Jolene Strawhacker; and one brother, Mark Strawhacker.

Her parents preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
