JACOBIE ALLEN ERICKSON
Jacobie Allen Erickson, infant son of Mark Allen Erickson and Brenda Jean Isaacson Erickson, was born July 20, 2001 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed from this life on September 25, 2001 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at the age of nine weeks.
Jacobie was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Delano and Hazel Lindell and Donald and Dora Isaacson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Mark and Brenda Erickson of New Virginia, Iowa; sisters, Alexi Elizabeth and Toriann Nicole Erickson of the home; grandparents, Robert and Shirley Erickson of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Donna Isaacson of Chariton, Iowa and Leland Isaacson of Lucas, Iowa; great-grandparents, Don and Unity Strange of Creston, Iowa and Dale and Helen Erickson of Yuma, Arizona; uncle Kirk Isaacson of Derby, Iowa; aunt Julie Sanderson of Osceola, Iowa; aunt Sherry Mason of Afton, Iowa; special uncles, Dan Ray Adair of Mount Ayr, Gordon Still of Clearfield, Iowa, Jeff Becker of New Virginia and Max Fenn of Murray, Iowa; as well as many cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 29, 2001, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Reverend Skip Rushing of New Virginia officiating. Casket bearers were Dan Ray Adair, Gordon Still, Jeff Becker and Max Fenn. Honorary casket bearers were Jimmy Sitzman, Mike Sitzman, George Lichter and Tim Wilson.
Interment was in the New Virginia Cemetery , New Virginia.

DELORES J. MILLIGAN
Delores J. Milligan, 68, of Bethany, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at her home.
She was born September 5, 1933 in Mount Etna, Iowa, the daughter of Harlan and Ivan (Mills) Embree.
On April 1, 1961, she married Milton Milligan in Nebraska. He preceded her in death.
She was a factory worker for a production company and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She loved fishing, playing her guitar, being with her family and was a great storyteller.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Knapp of Monte Vista, Colorado, Colleen Kelly of Redding, Iowa, Sandi Tenderholt of Clinton, Missouri and Peggy Johnson of Bethany, Missouri; three sons, Eldon Campbell, Jr. of Harrisonville, Missouri, Ralph Campbell of Pierce, Nebraska and Milton Milligan, Jr. of Bethany, Missouri; a brother Bill Embree of Green City, Missouri; a sister Leola Swope of Grant City, Missouri; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Vicky Powell; and a son Roger Milligan.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 12, 2001 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, Missouri with burial in Miriam Cemetery , Bethany.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harrison County Hospice in care of the Roberson Funeral Home.

LENA LAURENE SAVILLE
Lena Laurene Saville was born March 25, 1908 at Kellerton, Iowa, the only child of John Frederick and Ina Mae (Harsh) Duffield. Ina Mae died soon after her birth and Lena was raised by her aunt, Mary Ellen Duffield, from three weeks of age.
Lena graduated from Mount Ayr high school in 1926 and went on to teachers college in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught country school for three years.
Lena was united in marriage to Cecil Richard Saville on December 25, 1928, at the Mount Ayr Methodist parsonage. She worked several years at Anthony's Department Store in Mount Ayr, Lena was very active in community work as she was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and the V. F. W. Auxiliary, past president and treasurer of the Ringgold Hospital Auxiliary as well as a Grey Lady volunteer, American Red Cross volunteer, Doll Club, Quilt Club and a member of the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church since the age of 12.
Lena liked to make quilts and crochet afghans, doilies and caps for the new babies at the hospital. She made stuffed toys, dolls and bears for the hospital so every child could have a toy. Lena had taken over 1,300 toys to the hospital over a period of years. She made 10 Amanda the Panda bears to give to children. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren have received dolls and toys from Lena.
Lena lived most all of her life at Mount Ayr. In September of 1991, Lena and Cecil moved to Creston, Iowa where Cecil died on March 6, 1992. Lena moved to Gowrie, Iowa six years ago and had just recently become a resident of the Gowrie Care Center where she passed away on October 15, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Mary Ellen Duffield; her husband Cecil; four sons, John, Charles, Ronnie and Rudy; and two grandsons, Jimmy and Larry.
Survivors include her daughter Jessie Mohr and husband Fred of Gowrie; three daughters-in-law, Lenora Saville of Des Moines, Iowa, Nancy Saville of Creston and Wuanita Saville of Tucson, Arizona; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Vera A. Buss of Red Oak, Iowa; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, October 17, 2001, until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2001, at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Sue Thomas officiating. Ginny Eighmy, Edna Jones and Neva Fisher are musicians for the service. Casket bearers are Jerry Mohr, Steve Mohr, Dick Mohr, Terry Saville, Dennis Smalley and Bryan Bradley.
Honorary pallbearers are Lora Smalley, Cathy Pardos, Barb Saville, Mary Trujillo, Vicky Fifield and Michelle Bradley.
Lena will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery , Mount Ayr.
A memorial has been established in her name.

RACHEL MARGARET TAYLOR
Rachel Margaret (Denhart) Taylor, daughter of John and Lena (Wallace) Denhart, was born September 4, 1911, near Benton, Iowa, at the home of her maternal grandparents, Samuel and Sarah Wallace. She passed away at the Clearview Home at Mount Ayr, Iowa on October 9, 2001, where she had lived the last two and a half years.
Margaret attended Siloam #9, the same country school that her father and her own children attended. She graduated from Diagonal high school in 1929.
She married Harold Taylor on January 1, 1930. Most of their entire lives were spent farming south of Diagonal until moving into Diagonal in 1973.
From this union were born five children: Darlene Louise, John Wallace, Helen Mae, Caryl Maxine and Barbara Ann.
Family, music, and church were the loves of her life. She began her musical career at the age of four. She later played the piano at the silent movie theater, accompanied church services at the United Church of Diagonal for approximately 50 years and shared her talents teaching piano to many children of the Diagonal community for over 30 years. Many people have fond memories of her playing for weddings, school activities, and many other area events.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Priscilla Club, Home Helper's Club, Miriam Circle, State Home Maker of the Year in 1951, and honored as the parade marshal at the Diagonal Centennial in 1988.
The Taylor home was often the center of local social activities for not only family but many community friends. The coffee pot was always on and the cookie jar full.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold in 1985; daughter Darlene; son John; and grand-son-in-law Steve Graham.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen Mae Turner and husband Drexal of Grinnell, Iowa, Caryl Maxine Dukes and husband Philip of Marathon, Iowa and Barbara Ann Gifford and husband Chuck of Carroll, Iowa and daughter-in-law Sandra Ann Taylor of Mount Ayr, Iowa. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren including Curtis Turner, Pam Palmer, Tim Turner, Kelly Turner, Bobbi Coppola, Jerri Graham, Jackie Bohn, Juliann Walter, Lynda Dukes, Jennifer Lee, John Dukes, Douglas Gifford, Stephanie Gifford, and Stacie Gifford; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 12, 2001 at United Church of Diagonal with Reverend Karen Garrison officiating. Judy Newton was the organist. Casket bearers were Bobbi Coppola, Juliann Walter, Jerri Graham, Lynda Dukes, Jackie Bohn, Jennifer Lee, Curt Turner, John Dukes, Pam Palmer, Doug Gifford, Tim Turner, Stephanie Gifford, Kelly Turner and Stacie Gifford.
Honorary pallbearers were Richard Hammond, Philip Dukes, Drexal Turner and Chuck Gifford.
Margaret was laid to rest in the Diagonal Cemetery , Diagonal.

MANLEA BARBER
Manlea Barber, eldest son of Henry Barber and Clara (Jones) Barber, was born near Denver, Missouri on May 13, 1908, and departed this life on October 23, 2001 in the Ringgold County Hospital, Mount Ayr, Iowa, at the age of 93 years, five months and 10 days.
He grew up in the Denver area and on February 21, 1933 was united in marriage to Pearl Senior at Gallatin, Missouri. To this union was born four children, Manlea Lyle, Keleta Pearl, Clara Francis and John Henry. They remained in the Denver area until moving to Iowa in the early 1940s. He spent the remaining years around the Maloy, Iowa area where he was engaged in farming until retiring to Blockton, Iowa, where he lived until moving to the home of his daughter in Mount Ayr for a time and then to the Mount Ayr Health Care Center where he spent his remaining days, entering the hospital on October 11, 2001.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Pearl in 1985; a daughter Clara Francis in 1971, and son Manlea Lyle (Tob) Barber in 1985; two infant grandchildren, Patricia Jean and Steven Lee Barber; five brothers, Lycile and wife Myrtle, Leland, Elamon, Marvel and Elda; and one sister Saleta.
He is survived by one daughter Keleta Dunkeson and husband Billy of Mount Ayr; one son John Henry and wife Linda of Benton, Iowa, a daughter-in-law Dorothy Barber of Redding, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Billy Dean Schuster and wife Kathy, Belinda Jeralds, Barry Schuster, Dusty Barber and fiancée Mary Pack, all of Mount Ayr, Kathy Quick and husband Dan of Redding, Kelly Roach and husband Tony of Platte City, Missouri, Karen Hill and husband Rowdy of Trimble, Missouri, Beatrice Ware and husband Jim of Fayetteville, Tennessee, Casey Barber and friend Charlotte Fletcher of Creston, Iowa; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Leola Wheatley of Roswell, New Mexico; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
His family was most important to him and he enjoyed being with them at birthday parties and every occasion possible. He spent his life in farming and enjoyed the outdoors hunting, trapping and fishing. He also loved to go to the country music shows with his family and friends in later years as long as health permitted. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Manlea will be sadly missed by family and all who knew him.
Funeral services were held October 26, 2001 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Rev. Pete Brantner officiated.
Interment was in the Redding Cemetery , Redding.

DARL HERMAN BELL
Darl Herman Bell was born January 3, 1918, north of Stringtown, Iowa. He was the son of Herman C. and Clara Belle (Eckels) Bell. He attended school in Stringtown and then moved to Kent, Iowa in third grade. He finished school in Clearfield, Iowa.
He married Margaretta Stutesman on December 7, 1938. Out of this union three children were born, Gaylan, Richard and Sherry.
Darl worked at the Clearfield elevator and for George Bailey until he joined the U. S. Navy in 1944. He was in the Navy for two years then came back to Clearfield and carried rural mail until 1951 when he moved to Creston, Iowa and continued to carry mail until retiring and moving back to Clearfield in 1974. He worked for the funeral home and was a P.R. man for the Town and Country Cafe.
He was mayor for two terms, served on the city council for many years, was a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver, member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Lions Club, board member of the Clearfield Housing, Clearfield Development Corporation and Lenox ambulance.
Survivors include his two sons, Gaylan and wife Linda Bell of Clearfield and Richard and wife Kay Bell of Kirbyville, Missouri; daughter Sherry and husband Monte Parrott of Afton, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; also a sister-in-law Delpha Bell of Green Valley, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaretta in 1992; brother Martin; sister Eula Campbell; a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 26, 2001 at United Methodist Church, Clearfield, with Reverend Len Garrison officiating. Musicians were Patty Parrish and Chantelle Jennett. Casket bearers were Rod Bell, Billy Stuart, Scot Miller, Dan Adamson, Randy Miller, Doyle Hancock, T. J. Parrott, Doug Sobotka, Steve Carter, Billy Flowers, Mike Carter, Carlos Trevino and Brett Sickels.
Darl was laid to rest in the Clearfield Cemetery , Clearfield.
Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.

HAZEL MAXINE LEGORE
Hazel Maxine LeGore, age 76, of Blockton, Iowa, died on October 23, 2001 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born January 25, 1925, in Truro, Iowa, the daughter of Earl A. and Flossie (Duncun) Henson.
Hazel graduated from the Blockton high school with the class of 1942. She then moved to Des Moines where she secured a job with the state Department of Welfare and worked there for nine years.
On September 9, 1944, Hazel was united in marriage to Clark I. LeGore. Three daughters and one son were born to this union. They were blessed to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 1994.
In 1951 she and Clark moved to Waterloo, Iowa, and a few years later moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa where they bought a small printing press and started printing as a sideline.
In 1960 they purchased the College Hill Print Shop which published a weekly shopper. The name was changed later to Type House of Iowa, Inc., which specialized in typesetting and lithography for printing. They continued in this business until they retired in 1985 at which time they moved to Blockton. The business is presently managed by daughter Deborah and son David.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Lester Henson.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cathy Pargo of Waterloo, Deborah and husband Jim Bunger of Cedar Falls and Renee and husband Steve Huey of Andover, Minnesota; son David LeGore and wife Mary of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Erica and Olivia Bunger and Nicole LeGore; her brother Orlin Henson, sister Donna Mae and husband Donald Stewart and sister-in-law Kathleen Henson Drake, all of Blockton, along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 25, 2001, at the Christian Church in Blockton with Reverend Scott Marcum officiating. Musicians were Marvel Melvin, Jodi Lawrence and Kenneth Smith. Casket bearers were Paul Smith, Terry Henson, Orville Melvin, Bill Hunt, Jerry Key and Richard Brown.
Hazel was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery , Blockton.
Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.

REBECCA RAE DOLECHECK
Rebecca Rae Dolecheck, daughter of Elbert and Peggy Skarda, was born in Creston, Iowa, on January 14, 1951. Becky collapsed while taking her morning jog and passed away at Mercy Hospital Medical Center on Monday, October 29, 2001.
Becky graduated from Mount Ayr Community high school in 1969 and the American Institute of Business in 1971. On June 6, 1971, she married Cecil Allen Dolecheck, her high school sweetheart, at the Christian Church in Tingley, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Eric, Josie and Darin.
Becky and Cecil spent many years enjoying their farming operation near Ellston, Iowa. In 1998 they moved to Mount Ayr where they established their present home. Becky was employed by Pedersen Law Firm as a legal secretary. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ellston, the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club and served as Southwest Iowa district chairperson of the Iowa Women's Golf Association.
Along with enjoying the many activities and accomplishments of their children, nieces, nephews, and friends, Becky and Cecil enjoyed many hours of golfing together. They traveled throughout the state playing in many tournaments, often seen at the top of the leader board. Becky individually competed in golf tournaments at both the district and state level, recently achieving the honor of medalist at district competition. Becky was able to celebrate two holes-in-one at the Mount Ayr golf course.
Becky will be deeply missed by her family and many friends and has given them all precious, lasting memories.
Left to cherish these memories are her husband of thirty years Cecil Dolecheck of Mount Ayr; two sons, Eric (wife Dawn) Dolecheck of Kellerton and Darin Dolecheck (girlfriend Darla Greene) of Mount Ayr; a daughter Josie (husband Al) Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa; her parents, Peggy and Elbert Skarda of Tingley; a brother John Skarda of Elkhart, Iowa; two sisters, Janet (husband Tom) Hall of Mission Viejo, California and Ginny (husband Malcolm) Eighmy of Mount Ayr; a brother-in-law Roger (wife Lesa) Dolecheck of Beaconsfield, Iowa; a sister-in-law Linda (husband Jeff) Crandall of Kingwood, Texas; mother and father-in-law, Leola and Ivan Dolecheck of Mount Ayr; one grandchild Kaitlyn Dolecheck; nieces and nephews, Heidi Santagata, Allison and Shane Hall, Melissa and Dustin Eighmy, Chelsie Skarda, Kari, Hannah, and Brad Crandall, Kyle and Kirsten Dolecheck; along with many friends whose hearts she touched.
She was preceded in death by Cecil's brother Wayne Dolecheck.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 2, 2001, at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr with Reverends John Brillo and Jeff Flagg officiating.
Musicians were Doug Greene, Darla Greene and Deb Larson. Casket bearers were Maurice Jones, Ted Derscheid, Doug Bullock, Steve Werner, Kenny Grose and Harold Selim.
Becky was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery , Mount Ayr.
Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
