Donna Lee Crowell
October 1, 1930 - May 13, 2006

- Private Graveside Memorial Funeral Service: Will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery
at a later date.
- According to her wishes, the body of Mrs. Crowell has been cremated

Donna Lee Crowell, 75, of Burlington, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at her residence.

Born October 1, 1930 in Rensselaer, Indiana, she was the daughter of B.W. and Pauline Lyons Hoon. On October 2, 1948 she married Marvin Lyle Crowell at Chandlerville, Illinois. He died January 5, 2006.

Mrs. Crowell was a 1948 graduate of Chandlerville High School. She enjoyed her dog, TV, reading, cross word puzzles and playing cards. She was known to have played cards with Abe.

Survivors include three sons, James Edward Crowell of Tallahassee, Florida, Rodney Duane Crowell and Randall Craig Crowell both of Burlington; one daughter, Sheryl Ann (Breuer) Anderson of rural Burlington; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one brother, Jim Hoon of Beardstown, IL.

Her husband, parents, granddaughter, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.

The private graveside memorial service for Mrs. Crowell will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery . There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Hope Haven and Great River Hospice.

According to her wishes, the body of Mrs. Crowell has been cremated.

Marvin Lyle Crowell
September 8, 1926 - January 5, 2006

Marvin Lyle Crowell, 79, of Burlington, died Thursday, January 5, 2006, at his residence.

Born September 8, 1926 in Chandlerville, Illinois, he was the son of George and Merle Cook Crowell. On October 2, 1948 he married Donna Lee Hoon.

Mr. Crowell was a graduate of Girard High School and was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was an inspection supervisor at Champion Spark Plug and also worked as a mechanic at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and socializing. He knew no strangers.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Crowell of Burlington; three sons, James Edward Crowell of Tallahassee, Florida, Rodney Duane Crowell and Randall Craig Crowell both of Burlington; one daughter, Sheryl Ann Anderson (Breuer) of rural Burlington; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

His parents, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law preceded him in death.

The graveside memorial funeral service for Mr. Crowell will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Aspen Grove Cemetery . This will be a time of sharing with family and friends. There will be a celebration of life following the graveside service at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 2727 Mount Pleasant St., Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hope Haven and Great River Medical Center Hospice.

James William Crowner
September 14, 1944 - October 28, 2006

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice

James William Crowner, 62, of Burlington, Iowa, died at 10:12 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2006, in West Burlington.

Born September 14, 1944 in Burlington, he was the son of John Wayne and Anna Mae Marshall Crowner, Sr. On October 30, 1992 he married Ruth Ann Harig Allen in Burlington. She died December 9, 2002.

Mr. Crowner was a 1962 graduate of Burlington High School and took computer and electronic courses in Las Vegas. He served in the Navy Reserves from 1963 to 1964. He was a general contractor.

He was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Crowner was a collector of unusual and unique items and loved to fish and play cards.

Survivors include two sons, James (Dana) Crowner and Jeffrey (Annette) Crowner both of Burlington; one daughter, Jackie Crowner of Burlington; six grandchildren, Josiah, Jo-Anna, Jeffrey, Tory, Tyler and Abigail; two sisters, Dorothy (Gary) Ball of Bettendorf, Iowa and Martica (Steve) Polewchak of Madison, Ohio; and two brothers, Michael L. (Terri) Crowner of Burlington and John (Lanny) Crowner of West Burlington.

His wife; parents; one brother, Ronald Crowner; and two sisters, Carol Miller and infant, Linda Crowner preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.

Connie Kathryn Curran
August 31, 1945 - December 21, 2006

Connie Kathryn Curran, 61, of Burlington, Iowa, died at 6:18 p.m.Thursday, December 21, 2006, at Great River Medical Hospital.

Born August 31, 1945 in Ryan, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles and Lorraine Reiss Kennedy. On July 28, 1984 she married Herbert R. Curran in Burlington, Iowa.

Mrs. Curran was a homemaker. She was of the Catholic faith, and enjoyed traveling, camping, motorcycles, going to the boat, and her children.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert “Herb” Curran of West Burlington, Iowa; four sons, Kelly (Tammy) Graybill of Oglesby, Illinois, Chris (Tammi) Graybill of Hawk Springs, Wyoming, Dwight (Sue) Curran of Sugar Grove, Illinois, and Jeffrey Curran of Napa, Idaho; one daughter, Leslee Summers and Jim Maly of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Natasha Bass, Danny Maly, Kelly Graybill, Nicholas Summers, D.J. Chasteen, Emily and MacKenzie Curran, Challa and Brandi Graybill, MacKenzie Graybill, Katana, Amanda, Jacia Curran; one great grandson, Tristan Bass; four brothers, John F. (Geanie) Kennedy of Stillwell, Kansas, Victor Kennedy of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Barry Kennedy of Ryan, Iowa, and Kevin Kennedy of Jerome, Idaho.

Her parents; one daughter, Robin Graybill; and one stepdaughter, Nicole Curran, preceded her in death.

July 25, 1935 - April 26, 2007

Herbert “Herb” Ray Curran, 71, of West Burlington, Iowa and formerly of Yarmouth, Iowa died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007, at his residence.

Born July 25, 1935 in Morning Sun, Iowa, he was the son of Dwight A. and Martha Elizabeth Campbell Curran. On July 28, 1984 he married Connie Kathryn Kennedy in Burlington. She died December 21, 2006.

Mr. Curran was a 1951 graduate of Yarmouth High School. He was a Navy Sea Bees Veteran serving from 1955 until 1957 at the rank of CNN.

Mr. Curran was a truck driver for Arledge, Churchill and ABF Companies. He was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed motorcycle riding and traveling.

Survivors include one daughter, Leslee Summers and Jim Maly of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; four sons, Dwight (Sue) Curran of Sugar Grove, Illinois, Jeffrey Curran of Napa, Idaho, Kelly (Tammy) Graybill of Oglesby, Illinois, and Chris (Tammi) Graybill of Hawk Springs, Wyoming; 14 grandchildren, Natasha Bass, Danny Maly, Kelly Graybill, Nicholas Summers, D.J. Chasteen, Emily and MacKenzie Curran, Challa and Brandi Graybill, MacKenzie Graybill, Katana, Amanda, Jacia Curran; and one great grandson, Tristen Bass.

His wife; one daughter, Nicole Curran; one step daughter, Robin Graybill; parents; and one brother, Max Curran, preceded him in death.

Morna Lee Darrah, 70, of West Burlington, Iowa died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2006, at Great River Medical Center.

Born October 28, 1936 in Downing, Missouri, she was the daughter of John Glenn and Kate B. Farley Harris.

Ms. Darrah was a 1953 graduate of Burlington High School and worked as a home health aid for Southeast Iowa Home Health Care.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, and enjoyed playing cards at Westland Apartments and helping people.

Survivors include one daughter, Theresa Jo (Lyle) Mahan of Wayland, Iowa; two sons, Scott Alan (Carrie) Darrah of West Burlington and Mark Darrah of Burlington; two grandsons, Brandon (Lori) Witthoft of Wellman, Iowa and Adam Lyle Mahan of Wayland; one great granddaughter, Madison Olivia Witthoft; three brothers, Max (Ida) Harris of Davenport, Iowa, Lowell (Rose) Harris of Searcy, Arkansas and Glenn (Rosa) Harris of Burlington; one sister, Nedra (Don) Kinyon of Guttenberg, Iowa.
One son, Eddie Webster Darrah Jr.; her parents; three brothers, Robert Harris, Leon Harris and Blaine Harris; and one sister, Ladene Peterson preceded her in death.

Rosemarie "Rosi" Paula Daves
September 1, 1928 - March 8, 2006

Rosemarie “Rosi” Paula Daves, 77, of Burlington died at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Great River Medical Center.

Born September 1, 1928 in Hanover, Germany, she was the daughter of Karl and Frida Mühlhaln Weiser. On October 9, 1948 she married Joseph W. Daves in Hanover, Germany. He died October 16, 1998.

Mrs. Daves graduated from high school and trade school while living in Germany. She worked at Jack’s and Sylvania and owned and operated J&R Fishbowl with her husband for 14 years, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great River Camping Club and Young’s Lake Camping Association in Kirkwood, Illinois and enjoyed camping, animals and the outdoors.

Survivors include one son, Karl (Theresa) Daves of Burlington; one daughter, Deborah (Larry) Jackson of Danville; six grandchildren, Todd Jackson, Chris Jackson, Lori Stoner, Adam Siegel, Karl W. Daves II, and Jacqulin Daves; and five great grandchildren, Clarise Bragg, Daniel Siegel, Taylor Siegel, Joseph Creitzer, and Kaitlin Saylor.

Her husband and parents preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Young’s Lake Camping Association.
