Duane "Bud" Clark
Services were Nov. 27, 1999 for Duane "Bud" Clark, 65, of Ida Grove at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ida Grove. The Rev. Roslyn Gunnink officiated with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek, with full military rites conducted by American Legion McNamara-Moore Post No. 61, under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.
Mr. Clark died Nov. 22 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Mr. Clark was born April 6, 1934, in Ida Grove, the son of John and Ida (Gempeler) Clark. He graduated from Hale (Missouri) High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.
He married Phyllis Heldt Dec. 30, 1956, in Ida Grove. He was employed by Russell's Ready Mix in Ida Grove, later transferring to Storm Lake.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Valita and Mark Evers of Storm Lake; three sons, Jeff Clark and his friend, Bette Segebart of Arthur, Jerry Clark and his friend, Patty Russman of Dunlap and Michael Clark of Ida Grove; four grandchildren, Desta Clark of Woodbine, and Eric, Kyle and Kayla Evers of Storm Lake; three brothers and their wives, Mike and Virginia Clark of Ida Grove, Ronald and Pat Clark of Wheeling, Mo., and Johnny Clark of Hale, Mo.; three sisters and their husbands, Donna and Tony Schau of Ida Grove, Doris and Cliff Dudgeon of Chillicothe, Mo., and Arlene and Claude Klein of Hale, Mo.; and many other relatives.

Carol Feddersen
Services were Dec. 1, 1999 for Carol J. Feddersen, 76, of Ida Grove at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. The Rev. Gerald M. Fisch officiated with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Ida Grove under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Feddersen died Nov. 28 at her home.
Mrs. Feddersen was born July 28, 1923, in Anthon, the daughter of Earl and Loretta (Caldon) Bernard. She graduated from Danbury High School in 1941 and attended Buena Vista University.
She married W. Allen Feddersen Oct. 2, 1943, in Ida Grove. She taught in rural school and in the Schleswig School system from 1967 to 1981. She was then employed with Morningside Care Center until 1985. He died in 1992.
She was a volunteer at the hospital and nursing home.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Eng of Ida Grove and Patricia and her husband, Don Paulsen, of Wakefield, Neb.; a brother, Bill Bernard of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a niece, Fay Jean Petersen of Des Moines.

Hazel Hartman
Services will be at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3, 1999 for Hazel Mae Hartman, 84, of Grundy Center, formerly of Ida Grove, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. The Rev. Lance Fricke will officiate. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Ida Grove Cemetery in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Hartman died Nov. 29 at her daughter's home in Wellsburg.
Mrs. Hartman was born Jan. 25, 1915, in Ida Grove, the daughter of Clive and Carrie (Elliot) Wink. She attended school in Ida Grove.
She married Ben Hartman Oct. 24, 1934, in Ida Grove. The couple lived in Schaller from the early 1940s until 1957 when they moved to Alta. The couple moved to Auburndale, Wis., in 1961 where they remained until 1979 when they moved to Waterloo. In 1984, the couple moved to Grundy Center.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Don and Lenora Hartman of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Glenn and Sally Hartman of Auburndale, Wis.; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Robert Todd of Wellsburg; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.

Jack Carlson
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 2, 1999 for Jack D. Carlson, 66, of Castana at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton under the direction of Westlawn Funeral Home in Omaha, Neb.
Mr. Carlson died Nov. 25 in Omaha.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; four daughters, Michelle and her husband, Ray Pizzaro, of Mapleton, Jill and her husband, Mark Horsley, of Odebolt, Jackie and her husband, Brian Stickney, of Smithland, and Jeri Carlson of Castana; a son and his wife, Jason and Ann Carlson of LeMars; nine grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Robert and Darlene Carlson of Sioux City.

Juanita Janvrin
Services were Nov. 13, 1999 for Juanita Janvrin, 88, of Battle Creek, formerly of Webster City, at Foster's Funeral Home in Webster City. The Rev. Bill Kem officiated with burial in Graceland Cemetery.
Mrs. Janvrin died Nov. 9 at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek.
Mrs. Janvrin was born Oct. 13, 1911, in Webster City, the daughter of George and Chlista (Willson) Wilson. She was educated in Webster City schools.
She married Wilford Harry Janvrin in 1941 in Webster City. She was a homemaker. He died in 1972. She lived in Audubon with her daughter from 1992 until 1998 when she moved to the care center.
She was a member of R.S.V.P.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Wynoka and Harry Heidick of Webster City and Norma and Terry Burger of Aud-ubon; two sons, George and his wife, Ann Duden of Mt. Pleasant, Utah and Harry Janivern of Dolan Springs, Utah; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth Rice and Lucy Jahncke, both of Battle Creek.

Timothy John Higgens
Timothy John Higgins, 37, of Galva died Monday, Nov. 15 in a head-on accident involving two semi rigs east of Lake View.
According to an Iowa State Patrol accident report, Glen Ray Vestal, 49, of Harlan was eastbound on Highway 175 following a wide load unit. He attempted to pass the wide load and collided with the westbound Higgins' vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch.
Vestal was transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City with abrasions, scrapes and a possible leg injury.
There was $25,000 damage each to a 1992 Freightliner and a 1988 International. The vehicles were towed by Don's Body Shop in Storm Lake.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sac County Sheriff's Department and Lake View Police Department.
Services were Nov. 19, 1999 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cath-olic Church in Holstein. Monsignor Mark Duchaine officiated with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Holstein under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.
Mr. Higgins was born Dec. 15, 1961 in Cherokee, the son of John and Diane (Bengford) Higgins. He was raised in Odebolt and Galva, graduating from Galva High School in 1980. Following graduation, he began farming. He was employed by Vohs and Miller for several years and recently for Dave Joslin.
He married Teri Luckow Nov. 9, 1991 in Holstein.
He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Holstein and a former church usher. He was also a member of the Youth Right to Life Group and Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife; his father, John Higgins of Galva; two brothers, Jim and his wife, Tammy Higgins of Spencer and Paul Higgins of Galva; maternal grandparents, Edmund and Phyllis Bengford of Ida Grove; his father and mother-in-law, Randy and Betty Luckow of Sac City; a grandmother-in-law, Donna Belle Lowry of Manson; a brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Teri Luckow of Sac City; and nieces and nephews, Ashley Graybil, Caleb Luckow, Brent Graybil and Jordan Luckow.

Philip "Buster" Sacquety
Services were Nov. 20, 1999 for Philip W. "Buster" Sacquety, 85, of Ida Grove at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. The Rev. Marvin Lindley officiated with burial in Ida Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Sacquety died Nov. 17 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Mr. Sacquety was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Ida County, the son of Phillip and Ida (Fuester) Sacquety. He attended Blaine #9, usually called the Sacquety School, and then the Ida Grove High School where he participated in football and track, graduating in 1932. He assisted with the family farming operation and specialized in farm custom work.
He married Helen Lantz March 9, 1940, at the Methodist parsonage in Ida Grove. The couple made their home at the farm where they still reside. He loved farming and machinery and raised a small herd of Black Angus stock cows and Hampshire hogs.
He later worked as a salesman and farm worker for Hultgren Implement, and was also employed by Midwest Industries and GOMACO, Inc., where he traveled to trade shows and demonstrated equipment.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was past president of the Ida County Fair Board and Rural Fire Truck Organization. He was a Past Master of Kane Lodge #377 AF & AM, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, Masonic Consistory and Abu Bekr Shrine. He rode in the Cycle Corp and was a member of the T-Bone Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Cranston of Cincinnati, Ohio and Ann and her husband, Jim Holst of Ida Grove; five grandchildren, David Cranston of New York City, N.Y., Jennifer Cranston of Chicago, Ill., Philip Holst of Issaquah, Wash., and James and Elizabeth Holst of Iowa City; four sisters-in-law and their families, Elna Empey of Knoxville, Tenn., Vera Stewart of Walker, Minn., Ruth Benson of Chicago, Ill., and Margie Lantz of Charter Oak; a brother-in-law, Glenn Walter and his family of Ida Grove; a nephew and his wife, Roger and Shirley Sacquety of Lovettsville, Va., and their sons and families; and a special niece and her husband, Janice and Dean Fick of Battle Creek and their daughters and families; and several cousins.

Alvin Corbin Sr.
Services were Nov. 20, 1999 for Alvin M. Corbin Sr., 80, of Ida Grove at First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove. The Rev. Marvin Lindley officiated with burial in Ida Grove Cemetery under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.
Mr. Corbin died Nov. 17 at Morningside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove.
Mr. Corbin was born June 28, 1919, in Battle Creek, the son of Wilhelm and Minnie Mae (Bar-mum) Corbin.
He married Margaret Elizabeth Denham Sept. 16, 1941, in Marys-ville, Mo. He farmed in Ida County until 1953, then was em-ployed by Hultgren Implement Company for 30 years. He also worked for Farmer's Co-op in Ida Grove and from 1967-72 was ser-vice mechanic for Corbin's 66 Sta-tion. He then returned to Hult-gren's, retiring in 1979.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Alvin Jr. and his wife, Mary Corbin of Ida Grove, Martin and his wife, Wanda Corbin of Defiance, and Myron Corbin of Arthur; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Corbin of Smithland; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Robert Elsa Denham of Stevens Point, Wis.

Clara Youngren
Services were Nov. 19, 1999 for Clara Thelma Youngren, 90, of Odebolt at First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt. The Rev. Charles Bulger officiated with burial in Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.
Mrs. Youngren died Nov. 16 at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake.
Mrs. Youngren was born Jan. 1, 1909, in rural Schaller, the daughter of Chris and Ellen (Knutsen) Larsen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country school and graduated from Schaller High School in 1927. She received her one-year teaching certificate from Buena Vista College in 1928. She taught in the rural Schaller area for a few years.
She married Paul Youngren March 29, 1930, in Schaller. The couple lived on the home farm seven miles north of Odebolt until retiring in 1964 and moving into Odebolt. He died in 1973, in Ida Grove.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt, Presbyterian Women, Mary Elizabeth Guild, Odebolt Women's Club and M and K Club.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Carol and Ruth Youngren of Odebolt; four daughters and their husbands, Mary Ella and Robert Van Diest of Webster City, Miriam and Tom Phillips of Fredericksburg, VA, Janette and William Stock of Minatrista, Minn. and Kathleen and Roger Budd of Gaithersburg, Md.; 15 grandchildren, Robert and his wife, Nancy Youngren and Jerry and his wife, Linda Youngren, all of Odebolt, Janet and her husband, Steve Case of Omaha, Neb., Beth and her husband, Tom Brincks of Carroll, John and his wife, Beth Van Diest of Webster City, Linda and her husband, Mike Thurman of Denver, Colo., Karen Van Diest of Pleasantville, Steven and his wife, Marjorie Phillips and Danny and his wife, Kitty Phillips, all of Arlington, Va., Randy Stock of Mt. View, Calif., Brad and his wife, Cindy Stock of Orlando, Fla., Susan and her husband, Ted Dankle of Minneapolis, Minn., Toby Bettin of Bethesda, Md., Todd Bettin of Gaithersburg, Md., and Tricia Bettin of Baltimore, Md.; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Esther Grouell
Services were Nov. 22, 1999 for Esther W. Grouell, 91, of Des Moines at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was in Earlham Cemetery in Earlham.
Ms. Grouell died Nov. 18 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines.
Ms. Grouell was born in Ida Grove. She had lived in Des Moines since 1945. Prior moving to Des Moines, she lived in Clarinda, Waverly, Winfield, Armour, S.D. and Madison County. She was employed as a teacher in the Des Moines Public Schools until her retirement in 1973.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Des Moines Retired Teachers Association, Beta Sigma Phi, Des Moines Womens Club and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Survivors include a cousin, Persis Grouell Coalter of Ida Grove.
Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church Foundation, 10th and Pleasant St., Des Moines, Iowa 50319 and Wesley Acres Good Samaritan Fund.

Wilbur Rohlk
Services were Nov. 22, 1999 for Wilbur H. Rohlk, 67, of Ida Grove at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. The Revs. Michael Saylor and John Schauer officiated with burial in Holstein Cemetery in Holstein under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.
Mr. Rohlk died Nov. 19 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Mr. Rohlk was born March 31, 1932, in Ida County, the son of Hans and Rhoda (Goettsch) Rohlk. He attended rural Ida County schools and Ida Grove High School. He was a lifelong Ida County farmer.
He married Marian Grayson July 21, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Following his service in the Army Engineers from 1953-55, the couple farmed in Silver Creek and Logan Townships in Ida County. They moved into Ida Grove in 1997.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and American Legion McNamara-Moore Post No. 61. He served on the Ida County Conservation Board and received the Cox Conservation Award.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Laurie and Stephen Jones of Ida Grove; four sons, Darwin Rohlk of Battle Creek, Dennis Rohlk of Ida Grove, Tracey and his wife, Kelly Rohlk of Ida Grove and Travis Rohlk of Washta; 13 grandchildren, Mandie, Matthew, Denae, Austin, Katie, Chance, Kevin, Erika, Aaron, Blaine, Garrett, Alex and Trey; a great-granddaughter, Haley Stevens; two sisters, Erma Grill of Sch-leswig and Frances and her husband, Tom Pope of Sioux City; and two brothers and their wives, Delbert and Sheila Rohlk and Wesley and Mary Rohlk, all of Ida Grove.
