Helon Martha DeVaul, 78, of Burlington, Iowa and formerly of California and Oregon died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Great River Medical Center.
Born February 14, 1928 in Glendale, California, she was the daughter of Bertrum and Thelma Meade Britebeck.
Ms. DeVaul at age 13 was in Hawaii during the attack of Pearl Harbor. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. She was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruth (Richard) Jerrel and Lynda (Clyde) Graham both of Burlington, Janeice Boring of Corvalis, Oregon and Laury (Adrian) Ferbrache of Philomath, Oregon; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
A daughter, Ria Wood, and her parents preceded her in death.

Irene Dickeson, 92, of Wapello, Iowa and formerly of West Burlington, Iowa died at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born December 14, 1914 in Doniphan, Missouri, she was the daughter of Otto Earl and Hazel Marie Merrell Pope. On July 6, 1941 she married George Paul Dickeson in Macomb, Illinois. He died May 29, 1970.
Mrs. Dickeson was a graduate of Carthage (Illinois) High School and St. Francis School of Nursing in Macomb. She and her husband moved to Burlington in 1941. She was a homemaker and also worked as a registered nurse at the hospital in I.A.A.P. during World War II and in the 1960s and 70s.
Mrs. Dickeson was a 58-year member of West Burlington United Methodist Church where she was active in the church choir and Women’s Society. She also was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and nurse at Camp L-Kee-Ta.
Mrs. Dickeson enjoyed sewing, knitting, and gardening in her flowerbeds. She loved to cook, trying new recipes on her family. She enjoyed making holiday special.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lou (Joe) Moore of Wapello, Iowa; two grandsons, Joseph (Lori) Moore of Burlington and Nick (Gabriella) Moore of Logansport, Indiana; four great grandchildren, Shanna, Tyler, Christopher and Abigail; and two nephews, Tom and Bob Boyd.
Her husband, parents and one sister Helene preceded her in death.
Lance Reed Dillener

According to Mr. Dillener's wishes his body has been cremated.
Lance Reed Dillener, 54, of West Burlington, formerly of Burlington, died at 10:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005, at his residence.
Born November 7, 1951, in Osceola, he was the son of Oris Reed and Velma Randolph Dillener. On November 18, 1988 he married Theresa Spiker. They later divorced.
Mr. Dillener worked for J. I. Case Co. for almost 30 years, prior to that he worked at Modern Welding. He most recently worked at Vista Bakery.
He was a 1970 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Southeastern Community College for one year. He was of the Methodist faith and most recently attended New Hope Community Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed the river, being outdoors, and boats.
Survivors include his mother, Velma Dillener of West Burlington; one step-son, Drew Spiker of Prattville, Alabama; one sister Sondra Astfalk of West Burlington; two nieces, Suzanne Todd of West Burlington, and Christina Hardy of Richfield,
Minnesota; four great-nieces and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial has been established.
Linda Dillon

Linda Dillon, 59, of Burlington, died at 7:02 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, at her residence. Born November 22, 1946 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Heuer Crowner.
On November 12, 1966 she married David Lewis in Burlington. She later married Homer Dillon on December 31, 1984. He died October 2, 1998.
Mrs. Dillon was of the Protestant faith. She was a homemaker and also owner and operator of Dillon’s Dream Store.
Mrs. Dillon enjoyed bingo, fishing, spending time on the river, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed collecting angels.
Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne (Jeff) Blain of Burlington and Lauretta (Byron) Wiseman of Burlington; two sons, Philip Lewis and Paul Lewis both of Burlington; four step daughters, Dorothy Dillon of Portsmouth, Ohio, Elizabeth Pierce and Rhonda Dillon both of Ashland, Ohio, and Cathy Zimmerman of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; and four sisters, Marge Allender of West Burlington, Karen Bergren of Mediapolis, Becky Patrick of Burlington, and Lois Sweiter of Michigan.
Her husband; one son, Wesley Charles Crowner; parents; and one sister, Donna Koons, preceded her in death.
Carol Dinwiddie

Carol L. Dinwiddie, 58, of Burlington, died at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at her residence.
Born March 28, 1947 in Revere, Missouri she was the daughter of James Franklin Bibee Sr. and Edna Jane Craig Doss. Carol was raised by Alvin Robert Doss.
Mrs. Dinwiddie was a cook for various restaurants and nursing homes. She was of the Nazarene faith. She loved to play bingo, cards and watch game shows.
Survivors include one son, Arthur Dinwiddie Jr. of Berwick, Illinois; four daughters, Rita Christie and Jane Cloyed, both of Burlington, Debra Hippen of Monmouth, Illinois, and Sheila Mejia of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Janice Reynolds of Burlington, Janet Cooper of Galesburg, Illinois, Mary Engle of Aledo, Illinois, and Dixie Doss and Phylliss of Keithsburg, Illinois; five brothers; Jerry Bibee, Jim Bibee, and Joe Doss all of Burlington, Owen Doss of Alaska, and Dick Doss of Keithsburg, Illinois; and a special niece, Teresa Bowman of Burlington who Carol was cared by.
Her parents, one daughter, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.

Dottie Ilene Dobson, 72, of Burlington, Iowa died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at Great River Medical Center.
Born June 9, 1934 in Corydon, Iowa, she was the daughter of Arthur B. and Dottie Morris Nickels. On March 30, 1951 she married Ivan Dale Dobson in Burlington.
Mrs. Dobson graduated from Burlington High School in 1951. She worked at Sylvania, IRC, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and downtown JC Penney. She dearly loved all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends and enjoyed her books and playing Canasta.
Survivors include her husband, Ivan Dale Dobson of Burlington; two sons, Dale E. Dobson of Rock Island, Illinois, and Leroy D. (Becky) Dobson of rural New London, Iowa; one daughter, Denise A. (Mike) Shaffer of Collierville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Ben, Sarah, Erika, Kyle, Jake, Rachel, and Joey; four great grandchildren, Bryan, Abigail, Kaitlyn, and Jesse; and one sister, Twyla Stevens of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.

Joy Olive Dockendorff, 95, of Danville, died at 3:05 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Great River Medical Center – Klein Center.
Born June 20, 1910 in Des Moines County near Middletown, she was the daughter of John E. and Mary A.C. Lloyd Keitzer. On March 26, 1938 she married Frank Dockendorff in Burlington. He died June 3, 1985.
Mrs. Dockendorff was a 1929 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on their farm.
She was a member of Danville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women Circle, Order of Easter Star and Danville Garden Club.
Survivors include a niece, Marilyn Henry Brown of Burlington; great niece, Judy Hillard of Burlington; great nephew Craig Hillard of Port St. John, Florida; great-great nephews Jeff Gapen and Mark Gapen both of Burlington and Nathan Hillard of Port St. John, Florida; and great-great niece Kathy Parker of Burlington.
Her husband; parents; and sister, Alice Henry, preceded her in death.
Memorials have been established for Hope Haven and Danville United Methodist Church.
