Edyth Bubke Schulte
Services were July 19, 2000 for Edyth Bubke Schulte, 71, of Schleswig, formerly of Harlan, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Burial was in Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig under the direction of Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.

Mrs. Schulte was died July 16 at Denison Care Center.

Mrs. Schulte was born April 3, 1929, in Washta, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Armstrong) Porter. She graduated from Ringsted High School.

She married James E. Sandvig Jan. 7, 1946. She married Irvin T. Bubke June 7, 1952. He died in 1977.

She was a Cub Scout leader, member of the LWML and a Sunday School teacher for many years at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. She went to school to be a nurse and graduated in 1978.

She married Frances Schulte March 17, 1979. She lived and worked at the OEA Manor in Omaha, Neb., as supervisor of the nursing facility. She retired to Schleswig in 1994.

Survivors include her children, Leroy Bubke of Harlan, Barbara and her husband, Gailen Lyman of Chandler, Ariz., Tom and his wife, Cathy Bubke of Schleswig, Donald and his wife, Virginia Bubke of Avoca, Connie and her husband, Dewey Lee of Charter Oak, Mike Bubke of Worthington, Minn., Leon T. Bubke and his fiancee, Colleen Mencke of Denison, Roger and his wife, Alisa Bubke of Nemaha, Steven and his wife, Terri Bubke of Omaha, Neb., Timothy and his wife, Lila Bubke of Schleswig, Terry and his wife, LaVonne Schulte of Westphalia, David Schulte and special friend Jo Olson of Harlan, Diann Taylor of Red Oak and Maria Evans of Battle Creek; three sisters, Ruth Grigg of Red Oak, Arlene Halverson of Ringsted and Lucille Anderson of Alberta, Minn.; a brother, L.O. Porter of Illinois; 53 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren.

Mary Frances Warner
Services were July 11, 2000 for Mary Frances Warner, 72, of Sioux City at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Richter officiated with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Mapleton under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Warner died July 8 at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City.

Mrs. Warner was born May 20, 1928, in Mapleton, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Flammang) Jacoby.

She married Paul W. Warner Jan. 2, 1952, in Mapleton. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1963. He died Dec. 21, 1997, in Sioux City.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Michael J. and Vicki of Sioux City; two daughters, Alice J. and her husband, Mark Cone of Blue Springs, Mo., and Susan J. Warner of Sioux City; four sisters, Teresa Diimig of Danbury, Kathleen James of Sioux City, Isabelle Steele of Ida Grove and Beatrice McCall of Soldier; and four grandchildren, Sarah Jane Abbott, Brandon D. and Grant W. Cone and Sean M. Warner.

Anna (Cassens) Henry
Services were July 10, 2000 for Anna J. (Cassens) Henry, 96, of Sioux City at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Paul Mueller officiated with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Anthon under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Henry died July 7 at a Sioux City nursing home.

Mrs. Henry was born Feb. 12, 1904, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Anton and Jensine (Sorenson) Kirkholm. She was raised in the Anthon area.

She married Ben Cassens Feb. 12, 1925, in Sioux City. They farmed in the Bronson, Galva, Anthon, and Climbing Hill areas. He died in July 1951.

She married John R. Henry March 18, 1967, in South Sioux City. He died Aug. 20, 1985.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Leonard and Juanita Cassens of Anthon; two daughters and their husbands, Margaret "Marty" and Gene Sokolowski of Sioux City and Gloria and David Hink of Correctionville; three daughters-in-law, Florence Cassens of Hornick, Margery Cassens of Sioux City and Carole Cassens of Anthon; a sister, Mary Vetterien of Chicago, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Girvan
Services were July 11, 2000 for Robert McCulloch Girvan, 89, of Odebolt at Faith Lutheran Church in Odebolt. Burial was in Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.

Mr. Girvan died July 6 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Mr. Girvan was born Oct. 28, 1910, in Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland, the son of Robert and Isabella (McCulloch) Girvan. He was baptized in Campbeltown. As a young child, he moved to Paisley with his family and was educated at Craigielea School and Camp Hill High School. He emigrated to the United States at the age of 18.

He married Dorothy Charlotte Carlson in Alta, Aug. 15, 1937. The couple lived in and near Odebolt their entire married lives. He was a farmer and carpenter, farming in Wheeler Township from 1956-1967. He was a carpenter from 1967 until his retirement in 1972.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Odebolt.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert F. Girvan of Stanhope and James Hunter Girvan of West Branch; three daughters and their husbands, Gloria and Maurice Sutton of Templeton, Bonnie and Richard Eske of Ankeny and Barbara and Donald Horak of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces, Isabel Girvan Green of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and Ruth Girvan Gilmour of Airdrie, Scotland; and a half-brother, William Towns, also of Scotland.

Merle Siebrecht
Funeral services were Monday, July 3, 2000 for Merle G. Siebrecht, 73, of Arthur at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt. Burial was at the Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home.

He died June 30 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Donald Urskov
Services were July 3, 2000 for Donald Urskov, 83, of Galva at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva. Burial was in the Schaller Cemetery under the direction of Barker Funeral Home.

He died June 30 at a Sioux City hospital.

Marion Knutson
Services were July 3, 2000 for Marion E. Knutson, 84, of Holstein at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home.

She died June 30 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove following a lengthy illness.

She was born Nov. 18, 1915 near Ute, the daughter of Ralph and Marguerite (Koch) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country schools in Crawford and Ida Counties.

She worked as a housekeeper for an Ida Grove family before her marriage to Hans C.M. Knutson on Aug. 29, 1937 in Denison. The couple purchased a farm in Battle Township where she resided until her death. Hans retired from farming in 1974 and died Dec. 20, 1982.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove.

Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Beverly and William Meyer of Holstein; one grandson and his wife, Tom and Kristi German of Holstein; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Trimmer and Delores Huff, both of Council Bluffs; and a sister-in-law, Helen Kinney of Arthur.

Alice Albers
Funeral services were June 30, 2000 for Alice Lucille Albers, 83, of Cushing at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Midway, rural Battle Creek. The Rev. Thomas Sabel officiated with burial in St. Paul Cemetery in rural Battle Creek under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Battle Creek.

Mrs. Albers died June 27 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Mrs. Albers was born Feb. 23, 1917, in Woodbury County, the daughter of Arnold and Mary (Jensen) Strackbein. She married Harold Albers Aug. 21, 1935, at Midway. The couple farmed in the Battle Creek and Oto communities before moving south of Cushing in 1944, where they farmed until retiring to Cushing in 1971. He died Sept. 4, 1992.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was baptized on March 25, 1917, and confirmed March 20, 1932, and over the years participated in the women's organizations.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Rev. Gordon and Charlotte Albers of Austin, Texas, and Wayne and Kaye Albers of Holstein; a daughter and her husband, Bevereley and Raymond Bergmann of Aurelia; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Strackbein; and a brother-in-law, Willard Gebers.

Bonnie Mandernach
Services were July 3, 2000 for Bonnie M. Mandernach, 71, of Battle Creek at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. The Rev. Glen Houts officiated with burial in Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake.

Mrs. Mandernach died June 28 at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek.

Mrs. Mandernach was born Oct. 4, 1928, at Laurens, the daughter of Leslie Ray "Leck" and Martha (Rosene) Murray. She attended school at Laurens, graduating in 1946. Following graduation, she was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Storm Lake as an operator and later as a supervisor.

She married Earl J. Mandernach Nov. 26, 1947, in Storm Lake. In 1949, the couple moved to Odebolt where they purchased the Gambles Store and later the Ford garage. In 1967, they moved to a farm near Battle Creek. They later moved to Selby, S.D., Mobridge, S.D., Sioux City, Moville, Danbury and back to Battle Creek, where they resided when she became ill.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Martha and her husband, Duane Wasmund of Onawa, and Sara Jung of Mapleton; two sons and their wives, Leslie and Janice Mandernach of Selby, S.D., and William and Ruth Mandernach of Valley Glen, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Darwin and Pat Murray of Laurens and Lyle and Lucy Murray of Spirit Lake; a sister and her husband, Kay and Wayne Miller of Somers; and a brother-in-law, Robert Voelschow of Odebolt.

Mary Ladwig
Services were July 1, 2000 for Mary Ladwig, 74, of Ida Grove at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. The Rev. Gerald M. Fisch officiated with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery under the direc-tion of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Mrs. Ladwig died June 28 at Horn Memo-rial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Mrs. Ladwig was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Denison, the daughter of Howard and Josephine (Pelly) Crane. She grew up and received her education in the Denison area.

She married Edward Ladwig Oct. 13, 1943. The couple lived in Denison until 1950, then made their home in Ida Grove.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Dennis and JoLene Ladwig of Ida Grove, Michael Ladwig of Kansas City, Mo., Howard and Rose Ann Ladwig of Ida Grove and Daniel and Kathy Ladwig of Arthur; two daughters and their husbands, Mary Jane and Bernard Lackman and Kathy and Rod Hinojosa, all of Ida Grove; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Dolores Wood
Dolores M. Wood, 67, of Careage Hills, Cherokee, died June 30, 2000 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee. There will be no ser-vices. Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee was in charge of the ar-rangements.

Mrs. Wood was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Ida Grove, the daughter of Lester and Esther (Ferguson) Aduddell. She attended schools in Ida Grove, graduating from high school in 1951.

She married Eugene C. Wood in 1951 in Council Bluffs. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Steven Wood of Ida Grove, Joseph Wood of Cherokee and Mark Wood of Sioux City; a grandson, Jabin Wood of Des Moines; two brothers, Duane Aduddell of Bolivar, Mo., and Richard Aduddell of Aurelia; a sister, Phyllis Eickholt of Cherokee; and a sister-in-law, Esther Aduddell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
