Frances Rohwedder
Services will be March 1, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. for Frances Rohwedder, 87, of Nevada at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with the Rev. Myron Herzberg officiating. Services will be at 11 a.m. March 2 at United Methodist Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Marvin Lindley officiating, under the direction of Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Mrs. Rohwedder died Feb. 25 at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.
Mrs. Rohwedder was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Holstein, the daughter of Chris and Lydia (Will) Wilcke.
She married Archie Rohwedder Sept. 1, 1937, in Ida Grove. The couple farmed in Ida Grove for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1973 and moving to Nevada in 1993.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ida Grove.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Betty Peters of Nevada; three grandchildren, Gary and Tammy Gardner of Nevada, Gwen and Tom Rein of Colleyville, Texas and Gail Peppmeier of Des Moines; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Schultz, Phyllis Christie and Bonnie Spotts, all of Battle Creek, and Isabelle Plagge of Fremont, Neb.; and four brothers, Harlan Wilcke of Ida Grove, Floyd Wilcke and Wendell Wilcke, both of Battle Creek, and Walter Wilcke of Texas.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charities.

Harriet Gehrts
Services were Feb. 28, 2000 for Harriet Elaine Gehrts, 66, of Holstein at the United Methodist Church in Holstein. The Rev. Judith A. Piper officiated with burial in Holstein Cemetery under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.
Mrs. Gehrts died Feb. 25 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Gehrts was born June 20, 1933, in Holstein, the daughter of Harry Herman A. and Milda (Schlinz) Boock. She attended country school in Galva and graduated from Galva High School in 1951.
She married Eugene M. Gehrts Oct. 5, 1962, at United Methodist Church in Holstein. The couple farmed north of Holstein. She also worked in the Holstein Food Locker and did housekeeping.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and the church circle.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Betty and Duane Nippert of Correctionville; two sons, Bruce Boock and his fiancee Kathie Dorale of Anthon and Myron and his wife, Dawn Gehrts of Aurelia; 10 grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Tammy Boock, Ryan Nippert, Aaron Nippert, Kelly Boock, Ashley Gehrts, Angela Nippert, Adam Gehrts, Justin Nippert, Melanie Gehrts and Amber Gehrts; one great-grandchild, Tyler Boock; two sisters, Delores Hoaglund of Holstein and Bernett and her husband, Glen Indorf, of Galva; a sister-in-law, Janis Boock of Holstein; a former daughter-in-law, Yvonne McFarland of Jewel; and many other relatives.

Burroughs Conover
Services were Feb. 26, 2000 for Burroughs Eldon Conover, 80, of Royal, at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. The Rev. Paul Hansen officiated with burial in North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Spencer under the direction of Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
Mr. Conover died Feb. 22 as the re-sult of an auto accident, south of Spencer.
Mr. Conover was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Holstein, the son of Claude and Tracy (Paulson) Conover. He received his education in Holstein and graduated from Holstein High School. He attended Iowa State University in Ames.
He married Marjorie Miller Nov. 10, 1941, in Elk Point, S.D. Following their marriage, the couple lived in several rural communities including Burbank, Calif., before moving back to Iowa and settling on a farm near Dickens. She died in 1991.
He joined the Army Oct. 23, 1943, and was in World War II in the Normandy Campaign, Northern France, Germany and Air Offensive in Europe. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with four Battle Stars, the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with three Clusters and the Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged Oct. 11, 1945.
After serving in the Army, he farmed in the area for many years and was also a cattle buyer where he owned a sale barn in Spencer and operated North Y Auction.
He married Sandra Quist July 25, 1992 in Spencer. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Royal. While living in Royal, he was a member of the Clay County Cattle Producers and a strong supporter of AA and attended meetings in northwest Iowa. He had also been a 4-H leader.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marilyn Green of Des Moines; a granddaughter, Shannon Green of Des Moines; a sister and her husband, Marie and Virgil Johnson of Spencer; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Erma Meyerdirk
Services were Feb. 22, 2000 for Erma Wilcox Meyerdirk, 85, of Milford at Milford Baptist Church in Milford. The Rev. Dave Nee officiated with burial in Lonetree Cemetery in Everly.
Mrs. Meyerdirk died Feb. 18 at Northshire Residence in Spencer.
Mrs. Meyerdirk was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Galva, the daughter of Floyd and Mattie (Thomas) Martin. She was raised and educated in Ida Grove.
She married Everett J. Wilcox Nov. 15, 1933. The couple made their home in Ida Grove, where she worked at a cafe.
She married Jesse Meyerdirk March 13, 1954. The couple made their home in Everly. Upon selling their home in Everly, the couple traveled around the country in their camper for 15 years, until moving to Milford.
She was a member of Milford Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Lois and Herman Sorensen of Odebolt and Pearl and Norman Schultz of Battle Creek; a son and his wife, James and Lynda Wilcox of Everly; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Bev and Ken Schultz of Seneca, Miss., and Gladys and Pete Migis of Wagner, Okla.; a stepson and his wife, Glen and Pat Meyerdirk of Lake Park; a daughter-in-law, Norma Meyerdirk; a son-in-law, Bob Schwaller of Odebolt; three sisters, Shirley Simon of Milford, Arlene and her husband, Rusty Ehrig of Meriden, and Helen and her husband, Walt Wilcke of Denison, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

James R. Waldemar
Services were Feb. 16, 2000 for James Roger Waldemar, 62, of Odebolt at First Baptist Church in Kiron. The Revs. Wayne Fritzinger and Charles Batschelet and Steve Fahs officiated with burial in Kiron Cemetery , with military honors provided by American Le-gion Post 383 of Kiron with graveside military honors conducted by Ameri-can Legion Roose Post 313 of Odebolt, under the direction of Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.
Mr. Waldemar died Feb. 13 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Mr. Waldemar was born Oct. 22, 1937, on a farm near Deloit, the son of Clarence and Myrtle Julia (Clauson) Waldemar. He was raised on the farm and received his early education in rural schools. He attended the Deloit High School for two years before graduating from Odebolt High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-60.
He married Elfrieda Feddersen Nov. 28, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Following his discharge from the Air Force, the couple made their home on the farm at Deloit. They farmed at Deloit for 32 years. He also was employed for various firms as a truck driver for 12 years. He retired in 1991, due to failing health, and moved to Odebolt.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kiron.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Tami and her husband, Brian Batschelet of Spencer, Shelly Waldemar of Carter Lake and her friend, Darryl of Odebolt, and Colby Waldemar and special friends Tina and Marcus of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Ethan and Caleb Batschelet of Spencer and Ashley, Curtis and Tyler Waldemar of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Ramona and Dennis Loch-miller of West Des Moines; two brothers and their wives, Low-ell and Marilyn Waldemar of Hespe-ria, Calif., and Larry and Sandy Walde-mar of Denison; and nieces, neph-ews and other relatives.

Dorothy Quirk
Services were Feb. 18, 2000 for Dorothy B. Quirk, 80, of Odebolt at the Evangelical Free Church in Arthur. The Rev. Robert Lundberg officiated with burial in the Ida Grove Cemetery under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Odebolt.
Mrs. Quirk died Feb. 15 at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake.
Mrs. Quirk was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Arthur, the daughter of William and Eva (Mason) Riley. She grew up and received her education in Arthur.
She married Eldred Skaren Nov. 15, 1935, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He died in 1970.
She married Eugene Quirk Aug. 23, 1973 in Sioux Falls, S.D. He died in 1990.
She worked as a waitress at the Tip-Top Cafe in Ida Grove for many years.
Survivors include five children and their spouses, Ardis and Jim Brownlee of Sioux City, Joyce and John McDonough of Early, Eldred Dennis and Martha Skaren of San Angelo, Texas, Colleen Johnson of Storm Lake and Edward and Marilyn Skaren of Arthur; three step-children and their spouses, Steve and Kay Quirk of Alta, Valerie and Ed Carlberg and Lydia Quirk, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Kuehl of Ida Grove; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Alma Stanton
Services were Feb. 19, 2000 for Alma Louise Stanton, 93, of Storm Lake at Fratzke Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Rev. Duane Queen officiated with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Mrs. Stanton died Feb. 15 at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.
Mrs. Stanton was born Jan. 24, 1907, in Ida County, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Schau. She attended Battle Creek schools. She trained in California to become a beautician and later worked as an instructor at a beauty school in Sioux City.
She married Herman Peterson in Battle Creek. He preceded her in death. She later married Harold Stanton of Storm Lake.
Survivors include her husband; two stepdaughters, Wilma "Babe" Boseck of California, and Shirley and her husband, Bill Spidell of Dallas; two grandchildren, Mike and Scott Spidell; two sisters, Lillian Johnson and Dora Peterson, both of Battle Creek; and two brothers, Pete Schau and Louis and his wife, Vernett Schau, all of Battle Creek.

Mary Esther McDonough
Services were Feb. 19, 2000 for Mary Esther McDonough, 87, of Schaller at the First Presbyterian Church in Schaller. Burial was in Cook Center Cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Schaller.
Mrs. McDonough died Feb. 16 at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt.
Mrs. McDonough was born June 12, 1912, on a farm northwest of Schaller, the daughter of William and Anne E. (Robinson) Currie. She was baptized and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Schaller. She graduated from Schaller High School in 1929. She attended Teachers College in Cedar Falls for two years, receiving her teaching certificate in 1931. She taught in a country school in Buena Vista County for one year and two years in Sloan.
She married Howard McDonough June 12, 1934, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Eden Township one year, then moved to a farm in Cook Township, where they lived until they retired in 1981. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Garden Club and an active member in the United Presbyterian Women organization.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Judy and Frank Haggard of Estes Park, Colo.; two sons, Charles McDonough and Jeff and his wife, Cindy McDonough, all of Odebolt; a daughter-in-law, Barbara McDonough of Humboldt; nine grandchildren, Todd McDonough, Kent McDonough, Ethan Haggard, Frederick Haggard, Colin McDonough, Eron McDonough, Kylie McDonough, Dustin McDonough and Holly McDonough; five great-grandchildren, Megan, Mitchell, Molly, Maria and Marin McDonough; a brother, Malcom Currie; two brothers-in-law, Clyde McDonough and LaDon McDonough; and four sisters-in-law, Inez McDonough, Ruth Ann McDonough, Lois and Doris Currie McBride.
