Loren Parks
Services were Feb. 21, 2000 for Loren Francis Parks, 84, of Moville at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. Monsignor Roger J. Augustine officiated with burial in Arlington Township Cemetery under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.
Mr. Parks died Feb. 17 at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Mr. Parks was born Dec. 22, 1915, in Sioux City, the son of Joseph W. and Helen (Hardy) Parks. He was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Trinity Heights High School in 1934.
He married Lucille Jerine Ruring April 15, 1937, in Leeds. The couple farmed in the Leeds area until 1942, when they moved to a farm in the Moville area.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a local saddle club.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Colleen and Gene Knop of Ida Grove and Shella and Patrick Rooney of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, Jerry and Jeannie Parks of Bucklin, Mo., and Donald and Ollie Parks of Moville; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Leona Nelson
Services were Feb. 22, 2000 for Leona L. Nelson, 85, of Denison at Denison Baptist Church in Denison. The Rev. Art Anderson officiated with burial in Kiron Cemetery in Kiron under the direction of Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.
Mrs. Nelson died Feb. 19 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
Mrs. Nelson was born Nov. 4, 1914, on a farm in Hanover Township, Crawford County, the daughter of Emil and Christina (Danielsen) Jepsen. She was raised in Crawford County and received her education in Denison, graduating from high school in 1932. She taught in rural schools from 1933-41. In 1953, she returned to teaching and taught fourth grade in Denison for 23 years, retiring in 1977. She went on to receive, with honors, her bachelor of science degree in education, from Drake University in August of 1969.
She married Milton H. Nelson April 13, 1941, in Denison. From 1941 until 1949, the couple farmed and made their home on two different farms in Stockholm Township. In January of 1949, they moved to Denison where she was a homemaker and housewife. He preceded her in death by 10 days.
She was baptized in Blackhawk Lake in Lake View. She taught Sunday School for more than 30 years and served as Sunday School superintendent for many years. She was active in women's missionary groups, Vacation Bible School and served as church clerk, treasurer and deaconess.
She was a member of the Iowa State Education Association, Iowa Retired Teachers, Denison Christian Women's Club, Crawford County Historical Society and the Hospital Auxiliary. She also authored one book, "As the Twig is Bent."
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Duane and Dot Nelson of Papillion, Neb., Steven and Susan Nelson of Fayetteville, Ark., and Lance and Sandy Nelson of Denison; a daughter, Linda Burlingham of Plainsboro, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a brother and his wife, Irwin and Patricia Jepsen of Shingle Springs, Calif.; a sister and her husband, Fredda and John Presnell of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Irene Jepsen of Harlingen, Texas; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Marvin "Mike" Stock
Mike Stock, a founder of Iowa Beef Packers (IBP) and a member of IBP's Board of Directors for 20 years, died Feb. 12 at Stewart Me-morial Community Hospital in Lake City.
Services were Feb. 15, 2000 for Marvin "Mike" August Stock, 85, of Odebolt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt. The Rev. Albert Buelow officiated with burial in Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.
Mr. Stock was born March 8, 1914, at Wall Lake, the son of William and Emma (Hanke) Stock. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. He attended rural elementary school and graduated from Odebolt High School in 1932. He became employed by the Adams Ranch as family chauffeur.
He married Margaret Brodersen March 8, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She died in 1995.
He operated a D-X service station in Denison from 1935-36. He farmed seven miles southeast of Odebolt until 1965. In 1957, he helped organize the Crawford County Pork Plant. In 1961, he was one of the original founders of IBP, Inc. and served on IBP's Board of Directors from 1961-81. He also worked as a cattle buyer for IBP for 13 years.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake and later at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt. He was a 4-H leader for 25 years and served 12 years on the Odebolt School Board, acting as president during the Odebolt-Arthur reorganization. He organized the Odebolt Ambulance Commission and had served on the Odebolt Rotary Club.
He and his wife established the Stock Scholarship for Odebolt-Arthur seniors and student scholarships at Concordia University in Seward, Neb. He supported Concordia University at St. Paul, Minn., and Eternal Life Lutheran Church in Hong Kong.
Wearing his trademark bib overalls, Stock judged beef competitions at local and regional events for many years.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Jean and Elmer Pres-cott of Rockwell City; a son and his wife, Bill and Janette Stock of Minnestrista, Minn.; six grand-children, Kelly and her husband, Max Fischbach of Carroll, Kent and his wife, Diane Prescott of Wa-verly, Jay and his wife, Tami Prescott of Urbandale, Randy Stock of Mt. View, Calif., Susan and her husband, Ted Dankle of Min-netonka, Minn., and Bradley and his wife, Cindy Stock of Orlando, Fla.; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ona Lee Jacobsen
Services were Feb. 14, 2000 for Ona Lee M. Jacobsen, 77, of Ida Grove at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. The Rev. Gerald M. Fisch officiated with burial in Ida Grove Cemetery under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Jacobsen died Feb. 9 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz.
Mrs. Jacobsen was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Clay County, the daughter of Harold and Lucille (Franker) McCaffery. As a young child, she moved to Ida Grove. She graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1940. She then attended business college in Sioux City. She was employed 20 years as secretary for the Draft Board and later worked several years for Soldier's Relief.
She married Harold "Tubby" Jacobsen Jan. 17, 1946, in Sioux City.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Cancer Society, serving as secretary for 20 years.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Lucille McCaffery of Spencer; a daughter and her husband, Sue Ann and Greg DeGroff of Perry, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Heather and her husband, David Evans, and Rachel and Joshua DeGroff; a sister, Arvilla Nepper of Spencer; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Dorothy Krull
Services will be Feb. 17, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. for Dorothy Ann Sophia Krull, 84, of Holstein at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein. The Rev. Curtis Benson will officiate with burial in Holstein Cemetery in Holstein under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Krull died Feb. 14 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Mrs. Krull was born Feb. 14, 1916 in Holstein, the daughter of Louie and Louise (Will) Goettsch. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She attended local school and graduated from Holstein High School.
She married William Krull Dec. 29, 1938 in Sioux City. He died in 1999.
She was a past member of some bridge clubs.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Kathleen and Gerald Bloch of Slayton, Minn., and Linnae and Richard Scheffel of Maynard; three grandchildren, Laurie and her husband, Jon Clauson, Michael Bloch and Robert Scheffel; a sister, Delores Witt of Holstein; a brother and his wife, LaVern and Ona Mae Goettsch of Holstein; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille Taylor
Memorial services were Feb. 15, 2000 for Lucille Gloria Taylor, 76, of Sioux City at Larkin Northside Funeral Home in Sioux City. Dr. Louis E. Lotz of Morningside Reformed Church officiated. The body was cremated.
Mrs. Taylor died Feb. 12 at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.
Mrs. Taylor was born March 15, 1923, in Ida Grove, the daughter of Frank J. and Dagmar Hedwig (Han-sen) Carpenter.
She owned and operated the Scandia Tap Club in Sioux City for many years. She owned and operated an upholstering company for 15 years in Le Mars.
She was a Protestant and was a member and past president of the Le Mars Eagles Club.
Survivors include a son, Charles Ferguson of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughter, Dona O'Neil of Olympia, Wash., and Corinne and her husband, Richard Kober of Sergeant Bluff; a brother, Earnest Carpenter of Houston; a sister, Francis Petit of Holstein; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Munster
Services were Feb. 11, 2000 for Mary M. Munster, 88, of Battle Creek at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. The Rev. Benjamin Ray officiated with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Battle Creek.
Mrs. Munster died Feb. 6 at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek.
Mrs. Munster was born Dec. 15, 1911, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Christian and Caroline (Sand-berg) Hummelgard. She was raised in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1929.
She married Harvey Munster June 19, 1930, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Battle Creek, where they owned and operated Standard Oil Station until 1964. They later retired and moved to Arnolds Park, where they lived until his death in 1970. She returned to Battle Creek and worked at the group home. She also drove patients to and from their doctor's appointments and other activities. She entered Willow Dale Care Center in 1986.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Marlys and Raymond Mitzner of Lakewood, Wash., and Audrey and Keith Farris of Columbus, Ga.; a son and his wife, Marlin and Hilda Munster of Mabelton, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Rev. Emil Zmijewski
Services were Feb. 10, 2000 for Rev. Emil R. Zmijewski, 82, of Odebolt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt. The Rev. Hilmer J. Hafner officiated with burial in Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.
Rev. Zmijewski died Feb. 7 at Eventide Lutheran Home for the Aged in Denison.
Rev. Zmijewski was born March 9, 1917, in Russia. He lived in Poland and Germany before moving to the United States in the early 1960s. He was a Lutheran minister in Poland and Germany. After coming to the United States, he continued his studies for the ministry and served the Faith Lutheran Church in Deloit and St. John's Lutheran Church in Stockholm Township, rural Kiron.
Survivors include his wife of Odebolt; two daughters and a son, all living in West Germany; a granddaughter; and a sister in Germany.

Joyce Bolles
Services were Feb. 12, 2000 for Joyce P. Bolles, 68, of Sioux City at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. The Rev. David Morris of Wesley United Methodist Church officiated with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
Mrs. Bolles died Feb. 10 at a Sioux City hospital.
Mrs. Bolles was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Anthon, the daughter of Walter and Viola (Dicus) Short. She attended school and graduated from Correctionville.
She married Clyde H. Bolles Sept. 19, 1950, in Holstein. The couple moved to Sioux City from Hinton in 1959. She was employed with St. Joseph's Hospital and Marian Health Center for 33 years as a nurse's assistant and mental health technician. She retired in 1993.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and active in S.A.L.T. She was a previous member of Heart Mothers Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Michael H. and his wife, Toni Bolles of Springhill, Kan., Curtis E. and his wife, Michaelle Bolles of Sioux City and Kenneth C. Bolles of Olathe, Kan.; a daughter, Linda L. Lukken of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Aaron Dean and Amy Lynn Lukken and Eric Alana, Brian Scott and Dylan Marie Bolles; six sisters, Alice Van Laningham of Sioux City, Francis E. Short of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Doris Rasmussen of Bronson, Lois Smith of Ida Grove, Delores Vest of Orange City and Virginia Seitzinger of Smithland; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials, in her name, may be directed to Arthritis Foundation and Kidney Foundation.
